I have used Barnett Plumbing four or five times and plan on calling them again for at least one other job. Barnett has always done a fine job for me, and their employees have been nothing short of professional.
Description of Work: We had two jobs completed by Barnett Plumbing. The first job involved replacing two exterior hose bibs. The replacement took much less time than I thought it would, and the leaks are a thing of the past. The second job involved capping off plumbing for a wet bar that had protruded from a closet wall since 1979. This job was also handled quickly and professionally.

The office is excellent at responding to questions and scheduling. The execution needs improvement but probably varies depending on who is doing the work. They have many plumbers so experiences may vary. Daniel installed our heater. While his soldered joints were neat and nicely done we felt he was unnecessarily careless with our property. He dropped the old water heater filled with over 10 years of minerals and residual water on our concrete floor. There is a hairline crack in radiating from the spot where he dropped it. Although the owner insists that such action would not cause a crack, it was enough to shake the house and it's suspicious that dirt was swept from the area the day before their visit and there was no dirt in the crack until a week after the incident. Daniel was courteous when asking questions and asking if everything was satisfactory. But we felt he was passive aggressive on the follow through. For example, when asked to restore the insulation on the waterlines he insisted that insulation was not required. Although he reapplied pipe insulation at our request, he left it sitting loosely on the pipe so only the top portion of the horizontally running pipe was covered. We secured the insulation ourselves which was fortunate because the city inspector confirmed city code required the pipes to be insulated contrary to Daniel's assertions. Instead of asking us if the position of the overflow drain pipe would be in the way while he could still make an adjustment, he asked AFTER he filled the water heater and the drain pan position could no longer be adjusted to move the pipe out of the way of foot traffic. When checking pipes for an estimate he tore the insulation so it could no longer be used instead of just cutting the few pieces of electrical tape holding the insulation in place so the pipes could be neatly re-wrapped after he evaluated the pipes. He also dented the tank during installation. While I would use Barnett Plumbing again, I would ask for a different plumber.
Description of Work: Replace water heater with Bradford & White 50 gallon water heater (1,450.00 included installation & disposal of old water heater) with 10 year extended warranty parts ($215) and labor ($350), city permit ($150), less discount for damaging the new heater during installation (-$50).

It was great. The job did not take long. I asked for a quote on another job that they will need to get back to me as I want to cap my waterline & pull it out front of my townhome instead of under my patio in my backyard. I also asked his opinion on a tankless water heater & got a lot of good info so I can make the decision when the time comes to replace my old water heater. The technician they sent was very nice & very professional. His name was Alvin Serieux.

We have had a leaky kitchen sink and a noisy toilet for a few months. Aaron from Barnett showed up on time. He assessed and fixed both items for us. It was very convenient that he had the parts with him to complete the job in a timely manner. Besides knowing his business, he was very friendly and informative with respect to the jobs at hand and to other plumbing matters. I would recommend them for anyone with plumbing concerns. I will use them again without hesitation.

1. When I call and set up the time, it was very easy; they are very friendly. 2. When the service person came, he phoned me in advance of his arrival 3. When he was at the door, he asked if he should use shoe covers (very respect of your house) 4. After looking at the situation, he gave me pricing for different options 5. The work was done within the time he had promissed. 6. When done, he did not add any surprise and moved on to provide me with the explanation of what was done 7. He provided the paper-receipt and also later the email receipt. The service was performed as promissed and the service person was very professional. I was expecting he added a few more surprising findings, but nothing. It was almost like a routine work for him.

I've used Barnett on a number of occasions now (found them before becoming a member of Angies List) and they are my go-to plumber. Our house is 15 years old and we're approaching the point where some of the original fixtures and fittings are coming to the end of their life. Our kitchen faucet is one example. It developed a leak in the tubing under the sink, but only leaked when the faucet was turned on. So we simply stopped using it and I called Barnett to come check it out. We could have opted to just replace the hose, but the technician recommended replacing the entire faucet due to its age. In addition the taps to turn off the water were jammed, so he recommended replacing those too. I've learned to trust the opinion of the plumbers at Barnett. They do not try to upsell you on things you don't need. The plumber did not have a suitable replacement faucet on his truck, so he suggested to go purchase one and schedule another appointment. Our kitchen sink has 4 holes, and the original fitting included a separate handle and spout (each taking up one hole). We looked at the big box stores and could not find a similar design we liked. There were some available online, but I really need to see the unit in person before making a decision. So we opted for a faucet that combined the spout and handle together, meaning we had a spare hole in the sink. So we also needed a cover. Scheduled Barnett to come out again to fit the faucet. Rich Caron arrived and duly went about replacing the hardware, including the taps to turn off the water under the sink. Unfortunately when it came to installing the main faucet on top of the sink, the unit we chose would not fit. Our kitchen sink is in an island, and immediately behind it is a raised counter top with a full bullnose. Due to the bullnose, the faucet could not sit vertically in the correct position. Rich said it was close, but that it just would not work. Rich contacted HQ to figure out how to resolve the problem in terms of payment. We paid the full installation fee, with the agreement that once we had a new faucet, we could schedule another appointment and the charge would only be $50. I was happy with that arrangement, as the problem was entirely our fault. After a couple of days trying to find a suitable faucet, we finally found one we liked that we hoped would fit. Our only concern was the handle which moved forwards and backwards - that would be a problem because of the bullnose. Once we purchased the faucet I learned the handle in the newer model had been redesigned, and the backwards movement was very minimal - most movement was forwards, and this was ideal (other faucets we looked at where the handle moved only forwards were too large to fit due to our counter bullnose). Again this another one of those things its hard to discover online, and you really need to see the faucet in person. We scheduled another call with Barnett. Once again Rich came to finish the job. The new faucet did fit as we hoped, and the issue of the handle moving backwards is minimal because the handle does not bump against the bullnose when fully opened (it does bump a little if not fully opened). We can live with that. Another option was to turn the handle 90 degrees so it was at the front of the faucet, but we chose to keep it as is. Once again a great job by the Barnett guys. This particular task was a little bumpy, but not because of anything they did. And we learned a lot about kitchen faucets along the way.

Description of Work: I've used Barnett's Plumbing on several occasions. With the California drought, I thought it was time to replace my 20+ year toilets. I received an estimate in advance as measurements were taken in my condo to ensure a good fit. Additionally, I had questions that were fully addressed. Toilets were replaced with Kohler and I'm quite pleased. I'll use Barnett's for all my plumbing needs.

Richard arrived at the appointment time and was very professional and immediately got to work. After explaining and showing him the problem, he recommended that he remove the valve as he suspected the problem was due to an incorrectly installation, but it could also have a missing part that he would have to special order. Either way, he would need to see inside to know what's going on. He grabbed his tools and removed the valve. His suspicion confirmed - it was an incorrectly installed shower valve. He was able to reinstall it correctly right then - I don't think he was there for more then an hour. Not only was he nice, but he was good at explaining the problem to us and I thought wearing the shoe booties in the house was a nice touch. I will definitely be using them again for all future plumbing needs. I am super impressed.
Description of Work: We just bought a home in Livermore and the master shower had hardly any water pressure and was always scalding hot - no way to control the temperature. Richard from Barnett Plumbing came the next day after I contacted them to look into the problem. He removed the shower water valve and saw that it wasn't installed correctly. He reinstalled it correctly the same day and it is working beautifully with excellent water pressure.

I phoned to set up an appointment. I was told they would call just before coming out during the prearranged time window, which they did. Aaron arrived at my home, took a look at the problem and gave me a quote. I agreed and he proceeded to do the work in a timely manner. All of the elements of me being satisfied were covered. Quick response to my call. Arriving at the agreed upon time. Outlining a solution to the problem. A reasonable quote. Efficiently executing the repair work. Work done in a quality manner. We had them give us an estimate last year (2012) and then we had to stop the project until 2013. They stood by their price from the prior year and did everything beautifully. They were very considerate workers and left the job site cleaned up. Their price was near the best estimate we had, Overall very happy with them. While they were working on this addition our main (only) toilet seal failed. They fixed this and did not even charge me. Granted it only took about 15 minutes to do, but they certainly had every right to charge for this extra work.

I accidentally poured several cups of baking flour down the disposal along with some egg shells, turned on the disposal to clear it, and didn't think about it again about it until a few hours later the dual sinks in the kitchen backed up when using the dishwasher. I then remembered that putting baking flour down the drain or into the disposal is a very bad idea as the flour acts like concrete when mixed with water, and hardens / coagulates into a sticky mess in the pipes. Hot water nor simple attempts to clear the drain worked. I found Barnett Plumbing here on Angie's List, and called them as they were nearby. To our relief, they came out the same day, fixed the problem, and the price was VERY reasonable. The man (Arnold as I recall) was a real professional. He called the office to say he didn't think he needed to snake the line but simply needed to remove the plastic pipes beneath the sink and clean them out in order to save us a few bucks. This was done, and the job was complete in about 45-minutes. He left saying to not put the bottles and supplies back under the sink so we could watch for leaks over the next 5-6 hours, and left a large blue paper towel to make it easy for us to spot leaks if any. He said they would come back out if any leaks developed... Anyway, I was VERY pleased with their service and would highly recommend Barnett Plumbing for plumbing chores!
