They never showed up to give me an estimate.

The day after he came out to give the estimate, I got an email saying he was fully booked up through June. What - he didn't know that the day before, when he came out to look at what I wanted done? What I really think happened was that he decided that after the coupon, there just wasn't enough money left in it for him and he just wasn't straightforward enough to say so. I've got lots of work coming up on this house and I certainly will not call this company. And now I wonder how valid Angie's list special deals are - this is the second one where the provider couldn't provide the service. I hold Angie's list partially responsible for this problem. You are simply not getting service providers who will stand behind the "deal" they "say" they will offer.

This was our second job (see earlier review for a bathroom tile floor he put in for us in Oct 2013) using this excellent hard working Livermore General Contractor Dennis Almeida and crew. Gave us a 5% Angie's List Member discount on the job. Shows up at 0730 am and gets right to work. Everything was covered or masked, small wall repairs and sanded woodwork, sprayed ceilings and completed the job in 2 full days of work with himself and a 3-man crew. House looks new again, and we will definitely be using Almeida & Sons Painting & Construction for all of future contractor work. Dennis is very easy and flexible to work with, uses prompt emails to communicate with his customers, and takes personal responsibility for the work of his crew. He is a busy and popular general contractor, so expect to schedule your project at least a month or two ahead.

This was a terrific experience. They did everything they said they would do and then some, they were fast, they stayed on schedule, and the disruption was minimal. We are very, very pleased with the results and would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others.

Everything from start to finish exceeded my expectations. We met in June and he informed me he was booked for a few months out which was fine. He created a design for the kitchen and modified it a few times since I made some changes.The quality of cabinets he uses is superb. They are solid wood and are really beautiful and well built. We waited a few months to get onto his schedule but it was not a problem since I would rather have a large project like this done right rather than fast. Dennis was very communicative throughout the entire process and his partners were nice and did a great job. They were careful when carrying things into/out of the house not to damage the cherry wood floors and got a tremendous amount done each day. For anything else for the home, I will always call him since he and his partners are nice, fair, reliable, and do a great job.

From the first contact, Dennis was a real pro. He is prompt in his communications returning phone calls and email in a timely fashion. After rejecting others because they couldn't even get us a bid that was well written and provided the information we needed to plan, Dennis quickly rose to the top of the pack. He was incredibly patient as it took us a little over a year to get from his first bid to the final work. While on site, he and his crew were incredibly professional - were on site as promised, focused on our project without getting caught up in others, were willing to work weekends to make the deadline, and always kept in touch as the project moved along. We were certainly on time and with the exception of two surprises - needing a new subfloor and desperate need for the house to be re-wired - we were on budget. We are so impressed with Dennis and his team, he'll be back in about 10 days to re-do the main bathroom and back in the spring to re-do our master bathroom and some finish work in the garage. It really will be a new house then!

I found that Owner-General Contractor Dennis Almeida was very friendly & easy to work with, and he honored the posted coupon deal for 5% off the price or Angie's List Members.. I had several contractors bid this bathroom tile job, and Almeida was the one I decided to use. His company has lot's of solid reviews here on Angie's List, he's both a licensed General Contractor & a Painting Contractor on the CSLB.CA state web site, had a clean slate with BBB, and he was a local Livermore contractor for us. Communications with Almeida & Son was easy via e-mail or phone, and all paperwork was handled with pdf e-mail attachments. We ordered the tile & grout we wanted through the contractor for approx $500, and paid the balance when all of the work was completed. Almeida was able to start the work a day earlier than scheduled, e-mailing in advance to make sure that would work for us. Dennis and his assistant were very punctual and all business, they worked hard and kept up a good pace to meet their construction goals on each of the two days they required to finish the work. They kept things neat and orderly, and cleaned up at the end of each day. We already knew the specific tile, grout and design we wanted to use for this bathroom job before we hired Almeida & Son. Dennis is not an interior designer type, so you really do need to know details of exactly what materials and design you want to use before he bids the job. Our bathroom tile job turned out great, and I have already had him do another estimate for more painting work. If you are looking for an honest & hard working young general contractor or painting contractor, Dennis and his crew would be an excellent choice. Almeida & Son Painting & Const is quite popular & very busy, so scheduling for larger jobs could mean waiting a couple months.. well worth the wait in my opinion. With this sharp young general contractor you will get precisely what you pay for.

Dennis' team was was thorough, skilled and neat. They worked for at least 4 days on the exterior of my house. Before they started I kept thinking as long as they're here I might as well have them replace a door, paint the shed. etc. Dennis responded very quickly to adjustments in the estimate and added in those tasks. Over all very happy.

Never actually had any service done. Didn't get that far. Requested that someone come out and give us a quote on painting my Mom's house in Hayward. An appointment was set-up and cancelled at the last minute by the provider. Claimed that he was booked through the end of the year and so he was not coming out for the quote. The provider could very well have let me know from the very beginning that getting our house painted this year was a no go. This caused a lot of inconvenience, and lost time in contacting another provider.

I hadn't intended to spend as much as I did on this job, but Dennis' pricing was extremely fair. They spent a LOT of time here, and, outside of time for lunch, etc., were always working. They are diligent, methodical, efficient, and have great attention to detail. My opinion is that "good enough" isn't in Dennis' vocabulary. I'm obviously happy with the job, and with Dennis' professionalism. He's coming back to paint the house (and probably change out the balance of the trim to match the new trim) as soon as I can get a roofer to do unexpected work on two gently sloping "flat" roofs, one quite large. I would also like him to do a substantial amount of siding work on my very large garage. We'll see. My house, "the money pit," is killing me right now, and I am on a fixed income. At a MINIMUM, get Dennis to bid on your job. If you hire him, you will not be disappointed.

Though it was a few years ago, I remember that they were very professional, polite and worked with my schedule. I hope to use them again in the future.

Dennis is the owner and lead worker on the project and he was very anxious to keep us satisfied at every turn. He had three additional painters that helped him with the job. As it turned out, the selected days were very hot, and I was both concerned about the health of the workers, and also whether this was the best condition for the paint. We worked out an arrangement where Dennis and the team arrived early, at 6AM, and stopped working at 1PM. That meant that the work could be completed well before the extreme heat arrived. He was also in tune with being as quiet as possible during the early morning hours, so that our neighbors would not be awakened. After the completion of the job, we asked our neighbors whether things had been quiet enough and they said that it was fine. Most of the project was pretty routine, but there was a particularly tough spot to reach, where the existing gutter was located just a few inches above the roof of our sun room. I was very concerned as to how this would be accomplished, but Dennis assured me that they would cover that area. It would be hard to describe, but he went up to the roof, and then, while laying on his side, painted the area by leaning his hand over the gutter. We really appreciated that devotion to the task, and are also grateful that no one was hurt! For completeness and accuracy, I must point out one small annoyance that I had. In one area, it was impossible to reach the house because of a spa directly next to the house in that location. I was surprised to find that his guys had placed a piece of plywood across the vinyl spa cover to support them. I did not like that. He should have asked my permission before attempting something that could have damaged a very expensive one of my belongings. If he had asked, I would have told him to put down several layers of cloth over the vinyl to protect it, and then it would have been OK. As it turned out the vinyl was not damaged, but it could have been. When I pointed this out to him, he was very apologetic and said that he wouldn't do that again. I believe him because he is a very trustworthy individual, and I think that this was just a momentary lapse in judgement. All in all, I couldn't be happier with how the job turned out. Several of my neighbors have called the job "beautiful!' We couldn't ask for more than that, and thank Dennis and his crew for a great job. We will definitely use them again when our painting needs arise. One note of caution. Dennis is VERY busy, because he's a great guy and does terrific work. He typically has about a 2 month or so wait list. So if you want him to do a job for you, you need to get to it ASAP!

Overall my bathroom looks great. There are little things that greatly stand out to me every time I go into my bathroom. For instance, there are a couple of areas where the grout wasn't completely filled in. There are also cracks in the grout in the shower. Also, he did a beautiful recessed area in the shower that has the smaller glass tile inlaid. The grout wasn't "cleaned out" enough in the corners of this area to my satisfaction. Where he used caulking beside my new medicine cabinet / mirror, there is a gap. There was a green texturing spray used all through the bathroom. It got on the white pipes in the drain in the shower and is very visible. I wished that it had been cleaned up more before the metal drain was put in place. These are all small, cosmetic details that I didn't see until after I "lived" in my bathroom for a couple of weeks and did not call him back to fix. He was extremely resourceful in helping me keeping the costs down. He had good relationships with some suppliers that allowed for better pricing, even if the choices were more limited in a couple of instances. But it was my choice to keep costs down. Overall my bathroom is beautiful and they did a very good job. I wasn't a huge fan of his personality, but that's not why you hire contractors. I'm sure I wasn't his cup of tea, either. What "got" me was his claim that he will walk into the nicest hotels and homes and notice every little mistake made in construction. Yet he missed a bunch of the little things that he constructed. It's not a reason to not use his services, you just have to be more vocal than I was. But some unsolicited crass comments about other parts of my home never sat right with me. Again, is this a deal-breaker for hiring a contractor? That's your call, but I wouldn't not use him due to his work quality and ethic. Those were both stellar. The B+ in professionalism was only due to comments made that I didn't appreciate, not due to his construction skills. But again, not a reason to not use him.

They were great to work with. They remodeled our whole bathroom. He helped with getting discounts on the products we needed. They were very punctual and very responsive with emails and calls. He was very cooperative with our busy schedule. He did a great job at answering all our questions and providing suggestions for the remodel.

Dennis is busy so we contracted him in november to do work in feb and march, From the start Dennis was very helpful on picking cabinets and guiding us through the process. A week before his arrival he pulled all the permits and told us what we needed to have for the work.The whole project took five weeks (but except for the unfair inspectors) he would have been done in four weeks. The completed work is excellent and will no doubt help sell the property. If you want the best you want Dennis,. Now he is busy so you need to plan then expect about a three month lead time to get him. That alone tells you the quality of his work.

Neat, fast and amazing attention to detail

Dennis Almeida was very professional, patient, and pleasant to work with, as was his team and the subcontractor he hired to lay the tile and install the counter tops. After I chose the basic layout I wanted from his design suggestions, he was very amenable to the one or two small changes I requested. I don't think he had done a project in the city of Richmond before, but he carefully checked with the city regarding codes and requirements before the job started. Consequently there were no unpleasant surprises during the remodeling process. Dennis and his team were always very punctual and worked hard all day until the planned project for that day was completed. I never had the sense that they were wasting time or taking too many (or too long) breaks. Actually, I don't remember that they took any real breaks except for short lunch breaks. When issues arose during the remodel they dealt with them quickly and efficiently. While hanging the upper cabinets they discovered the uneven walls and very slanted ceiling. This could have had a serious visual impact (it's a narrow galley kitchen), but Dennis and Angel did some magic with the cabinets and trim which really minimized the problem. Dennis always kept me abreast of what would be happening each day. If I had any questions (I had a lot during the planning stage) we would communicate via email or the phone and if I didn't reach him right away I never had to wait long before he got back to me. I have a small, early 1940's house and I wanted a modern kitchen that still fit in with the style of the rest of the house. At the end of the project, which took just 6 days, that's exactly what I got, but, within the same footprint as the old kitchen, it's more efficient and has much more counter space and storage capacity. I know a review should have constructive criticisms to balance the praise, but, really, I don't have any. All in all, this was a very good experience.

Over all it took a little while to work things out because my insurance company was involved on the water damage and I was recovering from spinal surgery. I absolutely adore the contractor Dennis.He was professional,considerate and kind through out the entire process.He never rushed me or made me feel inadequate in any way given that this was my first time remodeling any room of my house.Dennis always responded to my questions and would email me asap. I was so blessed to have such knowledgeable persons working for me. His side kick Angel was equally skilled and professional.Once we worked out all the preliminaries the project took about three weeks.We had to wait one week for the cultured marble wall to arrive. I must say that my bathroom looks so beautiful and modern.We replaced all fixtures, installed ceiling fan that runs quietly and looks lovely. Put in new marbled wall to the ceiling, new vanity and lighting, new toilet, new floor and tile flooring, refinished tub to match the white toilet and sink. Painted ceiling and baseboard white walls tannish color, put up new shower doors and towel bar, also light switch. It's so amazing the before and after, smells good and looks bigger and brighter. I like to thank Dennis and Angel for doing a wonderful job and being respectful individuals. I highly recommend them and hope to someday soon use the service again for kitchen. We first found Dennis through one of Angie's local deals - $1499 of contractor services for 2 men for 2 days. We figured this was a great deal and it was time to get all of the little projects and repairs done that we had been putting off for so long. Dennis contacted us within a day or so of our purchase to get a general idea of what we needed and scheduling. We met with him within a week or so to develop the laundry list of small items that needed to be done. He gave us an estimate of the materials (we needed a lot of lumber for the decking) and gave us an estimated start date. The original start date was over two months away since he had had such a good response to his offer. Dennis kept us informed by e-mail of any changes to his estimated date. Once the project started Dennis and his men completed the job promptly and professionally. They arrived at the house each morning at the stated time and worked diligently. There was an interruption in the work to accommodate a delivery date for a particular type of lumber that was needed for one of the decks but they reappeared as soon as the lumber came in. We were extremely pleased with the finished work. Dennis and his men are wonderful to work with, reasonably priced and very good at they do. We intend to use them again to complete some additional work.

Before the job was started, Dennis was very helpful in assisting us choose the proper tile, cabinets and granite. The job was done in about two weeks and the finished product was just great.

We would definitely use them again.

He was very helpful and knowledgable. We unable to get scheduled due to conflicts in my time frame and his schedule. I really appreciated his help in not only providing suggestions on what I needed to do but also for other companies that would be helpful. He was very customer oriented.

I needed to get my two bathrooms remodeled, and looked for a contractor at a home improvement fair and via Angie's List. I interviewed about 4 different contractors, and Almeida and Son Painting and Contracting (ASPC) was one of them. From the beginning, I was very impressed with Dennis Almeida; he asked good questions, pointed out things that might cause problems during the remodeling, and had good suggestions. I checked all the contractors to ensure that their licenses were valid, they were in good standing with the BBB, what kind of reviews they had online, and their references. ASPC checked out very well and the price was fair, so I decided to go with this company. The hallway bathroom was remodeled first, and was relatively simple. I think the amount of time to remodel the bathroom took a little longer than estimated and i don't remember the reason why, but I do remember that I thought the delay was reasonable. I think the cost was what was estimated. The master bathroom took longer than expected, but the delay was primarily due to a city inspector requiring some changes that weren't really necessary and due to a design change, not having enough tiles. The cost was higher than estimated, but the increase was due to the changes that the inspector insisted upon, the additional tiles, and other changes that I made. I think ASPC did an excellent job in remodeling both of my bathrooms, and my husband and I are extremely pleased with how the bathrooms turned out. The bathrooms are beautiful and meet our needs in every way. It was a pleasure to work with Dennis and his co-workers; they are very nice people and are more than willing to work with you. i would recommend Almeida and Son Painting and Contracting without reservations, and I would use this company in the future.

He was very nice and seemed interested in doing the work but probably really didn't need the job because of the price he gave us for it.
