Description of Work: Provided guidance on the purchase of citrus and decorative trees for my yard, picked out trees and delivered

Description of Work: I love going to this nursery. It is a beautiful place to stroll around, and they have many fun activities throughout the year. I've purchased fruit trees from them and received much needed advice from them on how to care for my trees. They are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Description of Work: The last time that I used Alden Lane Nursery was this spring to get some plants.

Description of Work: I purchased rare and beautiful plants at their gorgeous nursery. They have acres of beautifully designed gardens, separated into special categories like sun plants, shade plants, trees, roses, succulents, annuals, vines. There is is central fountain with seating areas and paths go out like rays from the sun to the various areas. It is shaded by magnificent 500 year old Valley Oak Trees! The service is excellent and the staff is very knowledgable and helpful. My very favorite nursery in the Bay Area!

Description of Work: I still frequent this nursery for several reasons, and would advise others to do so as well. It is a beautiful setting, with wonderful events. But here is what I do before I go there and give the same information to others: 1. Be as knowlegeable as possible. Search the web to find out which planting zone you are in to be sure the plant you are interested in can tolerate your zone. Try not to ask questions of the horticulturists in the area, as they don't like to be interrupted from whatever they are doing. Even if you know a lot about plants, be prepared to be intimidated and made to feel ignorant for asking them anything. (especially the females.) I don't know why. Do they hate their jobs? Are they short-handed? Underpaid? Who knows? But they take it out on the customer. This is not a rare occurance. It happens each time I go there, so in order to not walk away angry I try extremely hard to know as much as I can so I can just enjoy the beautiful surroundings and arrangements, choose my plants and GET OUT OF THERE! 2. The owner, Jacqui is extremely helpful and friendly. The cashiers are nice. The plants are high quality, it's in a convenient area, so people come from all over to shop there. That is why I couldn't give them an F and why I will continue to shop there myself. But I did feel the need to prepare everyone for the negative aspect, as well.
