Scott was not only on time but also very nice. I felt comfortable having him working in my home and he did such a fantastic job on the drywall in the living room that we had him come back and do our hallway. He even repaired a small area in our dining room/kitchen that also looks perfect. He is fantastic and we cant wait to have him do work in other areas of our home.
Description of Work: On 9/28/11 Scott arrived around 10:00 a.m. and repaired an area around the entry door and floated out a few spots in the ceiling before hand texturing the walls and ceiling. On 9/29/11 I had Scott return after doing such a good job and do the same hand texturing on the ceiling and walls of the hallway. Scott also repair a section of the ceiling in the dining room matching it exactly like the old texture. He is an artist.

Response from Drywall Done Rite
Thank you member for the kind words and the 'Page of Happiness"! As a side note, the bid for the front room was $500, and a separate quote for $300 was given for the hall and dining. These were separate jobs on separate days. I am allowed by law to work on jobs with a limit of $500 without a State license.

Dave is very professional in his work. As he was running late for the estimate, he gave me a call to let me know the delay of 15 minutes. The estimate that he gave for the work was what I had expected. We setup the appointment 2 days later and he gave a 2 hour window for the work to be performed. Arrived on time for work and the work was performed to my satisfaction.
Description of Work: Drywall damage due to a clogged gutter. A small area was impacted.

The first day he floated it all out and the second day he came back and applied the texture by hand. He did an awesome job and his estimate came in lower than all others. Would highly recommend!

He was punctual, completed in a day and the quality of the drywall/texture was great. too bad he is not a painter. I would definitely use Drywall Done Right again.
Description of Work: We had removed a large mirror from over our fireplace and the drywall was damaged when removed. He repaired the drywall vs replaced. He textured the wall and left wall ready for painting.

I found Scott here on Angie's List and called him. He came out that same afternoon to give an estimate, and came back a few days later to do the work. He was very thorough and covered the floor and furniture in all affected areas. While he was working on the agreed upon areas, we were chatting about texturing quality and I commented on a previous bad texturing job in another area. He took a look and said while he was spraying the texture for the bedroom, he would spray this area as well. We've since painted all areas and I literally cannot tell where the new work was done. Scott is a true artist.
Description of Work: We had a couple of damaged areas in our hallway and bedroom from a botched furniture move that needed to be repaired. I had already cut out the damaged areas and put in new drywall, but I needed someone skilled to do the taping and texturing. In addition there was another area of the hallway that had a different style of texture than the rest of the hall.

Scott is a true professional and is very cordial and willing to listen to what it is that you are looking for. He can offer up suggestions of different styles and laid down a sample of "old world" look to compare with our choice of heavy knock down. We still went with the knock down, but I was impressed that he would take the time to show us the difference and not try to push his opinion. We found Scott through Angie's List and we can only agree with all the top ratings he has received. He truly knows his profession. We will definitely hire him again to put the finishing touches on our upcoming remodel projects.
Description of Work: Repaired ceiling crack in dining room as well as complete texturing of walls where we had stripped off wallpaper. Scott made sure to mask off everything and cover any exposed furniture. He also included a pre-treatment to the walls so that the texture material would adhere to the wall since there was wallpaper glue residue remaining on the wall. While this was drying, he repaired some additional ceiling cracks in the hallway and master bedroom (stress cracks along joists from walking in the attic). These were all jobs that were discussed and agreed upon when he came by for the original job estimate (free estimate). .

For the estimate he was actually early. He was quick and he was professional. We had him come out twice to do two different sets of cracks. I was not able to be at the property and had someone else meet him to let him in. He repaired everything beautifully (You cannot tell there were ever cracks there!) and called me after each trip to the property to let me know he was done and how everything went. We are very happy with the quality of his work.
Description of Work: Drywall Done Rite came out and gave an estimate on repairing cracks radiating from the windows, the door, the furnace vent, and holes in the walls from doorknobs. He was also to repair a crack in the ceiling.

Scott was always on time, always completely courteous and respectful. His work is the best of the best. The man knows his craft and also loved what he does. Makes a big difference when you look at a person' work product.
Description of Work: Scott covered the fluorescent light box that was left in our ceiling after we put canned lighting in. He covered it with sheetrock, then plastered around the edges. Then he re-floated the entire ceiling with a beautiful new texture that they are using these days in the new houses. It really updates the look of our kitchen and is absolutely gorgeous.

His work is a stupor and he is very good in texturing. He is a perfectionist and does very good work. I spent $30 on that work. He did the work really fast. He was very reasonable, knowledgeable and very articulate. He knows a lot of things and was not afraid to engage in conversations. He spent a lot of time talking and taking me through what he was doing.

He was more than helpful and did everything in a timely manner. When I really needed things to be done he'd come right away and do everything. He gave me his honest opinion on things that needed to be or not to be done. I did not feel like he was trying to persuade me one way or another like some companies do. I would highly recommend Scott Day, great service!
Description of Work: Did a lot of drywall in the house and added a closet to a room. He also retextured a bathroom which was in horrible condition. He also filled holes where lights used to be in the ceiling and retextured them. Removed cabinets from a laundry room.

After attempting to take old wallpaper off my master bath wall, it appeared I would need professional help! Thin, crappy wallpaper had been applied directly on the wallboard and after 14 years, only the top layer of the paper came off. Drywall Done Rite came in and sealed the wallpaper residue in the large mast bath and water closet (area where toilet is located). Imperfect texture was applied and it turned out beautiful! Professional, punctual, clean, helpful and nice are words I like to use to describe this company. Thanks!

It went very well. He was prompt, polite, picked up the supplies, did the extra stuff I asked him to do--(he didn't charge me for some of it) and cleaned up after himself every day. He stuck to his estimate and you literally CANNOT tell where the repairs were done. Which, I guess, is a compliment for a dry wall guy.

Everything went great and I am very happy with the quality of the work. I called Scott on Wednesday for an estimate. He came out Friday to survey the job and promised an estimate later that day. During his initial visit, Scott explained what he could, and what he could not, do when repairing the drywall. I knew it would be hard to match the texture exactly, and that the repair would not be 100% invisible, but it was nice to have Scott review everything and help set my expectations for the work. I briefly worked in construction and have completed more than a few home improvement projects so I felt his explanations were reasonable; I never felt like Scott was trying to convince me to accept substandard work. I received Scott's estimate Friday evening. After a few back and forth questions on Saturday, I called on Sunday and asked him to come Monday morning. Scott said he could make it between 10:00a and 11:00a, but actually showed up before 10:00a, which worked out perfect for me because I had an appointment 50 miles away at 12:30p. While I was gone, Scott fixed all the drywall and plaster, leaving the texture for the next day. A few other companies told me they could replace, tape and texture the drywall all in one day, which seemed rushed to me. Perhaps they use fast drying materials. On Tuesday, Scott called to tell me he would be about an hour late due to unexpected changes on another job. Since I work at home, it was not an issue when he came, as long as he could finish the job before Wednesday as I had an appraiser coming over to view the house in the morning. To make a long story short, Scott finished texturing the drywall that night around 9:30p. Before he left, Scott and I discussed when to prime and paint the drywall, and how to apply primer and paint to make the repairs match the existing, heavily painted surfaces.
Description of Work: Replaced 4' x 8' drywall in downstairs ceiling that was removed due to water damage. Repaired plaster around 4' x 5' arched window, including adding a hard edge that was not installed when the house was built. Applied texture to repairs as well as to small areas in upstairs bathroom that were repaired by homeowner.

He showed up on time and everything went well. His quote was right on. He could not match the exact texture of out 60-year old walls because of all the layers of paint, but my husband and I were able to create a similar texture with paint and primer. He gave us tips about how to accomplish this. We plan to hire him for another re-texture job in the future.

Scott was great to work with. I called him on Thursday afternoon to describe the job. He came Friday morning to look at it and told me what it would entail. I really appreciated his honesty on the estimate. He told me that he could mask the surrounding walls but it would double the cost and suggested I do it ahead of time. That alone sold me on him; he was available the next day which was Saturday. He showed up on time, did the job according to what he promised, and was really easy to work with. His price was very reasonable and I'd use him again.
Description of Work: The previous owner of my home had removed the texturing from one wall in the kitchen and put up wallpaper. After I removed said wallpaper I determined that the wall would need to be re-textured in order to match the rest of the kitchen. I called Scott to perform the work.

Scott was prompt, showing up exactly on time for both the estimate and the job itself. I watched Scott as he did his work. He obviously knew what he was doing and his workmanship was great! He was very informative and enjoyed explaining what he was doing. He is very friendly and enjoys conversing, not just about drywall repair but just about anything. He worked quickly, taking about 4 hours to complete the job. He laid a tarp down to minimize dust in the work area and cleaned up well afterwards.

Scott responded very quickly to my request for a quote and was on-site on the agreed to date and time. He was very professional and explained what he was going to do before he started. He did not rush and did a fantasitc job to match the wall stucco so that it blended in very well. I was most impressed in the way he fixed the ceiling and blended in the stucco to the existing ceiling. I will certainly use his company again if I need to and will highly recommend his work to anyone. The final cost was a little less than what he quoted and the time he quoted for the job time was the time it took.

Repaired 20 holes in lathe and plaster after electrical re-wiring and removal of old knob and tool. I had a difficult electrical re-wiring of my 1939 built Land Park home. The electrician need to run new lines through-out the 3 bedroom and one bath portion of the house that was not done (as we had paid for then) during our major remodel 10 years ago. Most of the holes were small - about 4 inch circles, about 6 were twice as big and one was about 12 x 14 inches. Scott Day did all the work in one work days time (done around 3pm). His work was excellent. You cannot tell that there was ever a hole in the wall and he recreated the 70 year old plaster texture/pattern. I have absolutely no reservation recommending Scott Day. I would have paid more for the job he did. To me, this is what Angies List is supposed to provide - a high quality, reliable, honest resource.

I did the demo, re-plumbing, re-wiring and clean up of my mess befoer he arrived. He supplied the sheetrock and other materials to enclose a 4'x6' section of laundry room wall. This required trimming around 2 electrical receptacles, one inset flush plumbing box, washer drain, and the dryer vent. He had to match existing surrounding drywall texture. He showed up on time, did the job perfectly and like he said, "If you can see my work when I'm done, I didn't do it right". He did it right. You can't see a single seam or variation in the texture. I finished it with fresh paint and it looks perfect. I thought his quote was high before he got to our home and I intended talking with him about it, but as he worked, I could tell he was worth it - I got perfect job on time.
