I am extremely happy I found Weathermaster Roofing Services. I knew that others in my neigborhood had problems with slipped tiles on their tile rooftops but I could not see any slipped tiles on my own (from ground level). I didn't want to get up there myself to check, so I purchased the Angies list coupon based on the reviews. They were very responsive, contacting me immediately to set up an appointment. They had to reschedule due to a family emergency, and then we had rain on the day we rescheduled to. Chris recommended we wait until we had a few dry days predicted and do it then. I wanted him to come in the later afternoon so I could talk to him when he finished. He was right on time and did all the repairs listed above. He had to take a broken tile to find a match. He came back the next day and installed the perfectly matched tile. Chris and his wife were very responsive and Chris was clearly trying to provide the most value for my money.
Description of Work: I purchased the Tile Roof Tuneup coupon for $199. Chris surveyed my roof, found several tiles that were installed with the wrong size nails, and a group of about 10 with no nails that were glued together and had slid downward on my roof. He had to separate the glued tiles, reseal the roof in that area and re-install the tiles properly. He also replaced a broken tile and re-sealed several roof vents. He also repaired some loose louvers on a roof vent by gluing the loose louvers back to the frame.

We bought a hundred-year-old spanish eclectic style house in Mission Hills about a year ago. We suspected the roof might need some work, but only knew for sure when it started leaking about six months after we moved in. We had a couple roofers come out and bid on patching it, and went with one who patched a corner. That held for about six months, and then the leak started again in earnest. So we got bids from four more roofers (through Angie's List) to reroof both the house and detached garage. Chris from Weathermaster came out early on a weekend morning to take a look. He said that another bigger patch would be no guarantee, but that he could try it if that's what we wanted, though ont what he recommended. I asked him instead for a bid on the new roof. He spent a reasonable amount of time (about fifteen minutes) taking stock of the roofs and then sent a thorough bid with several options. Of the bids we got, Weathermaster's was right in the middle of the pack. What set them apart, and the reasons we went with them were: (1) I could tell that Chris actually did the roofing work himself, while also running the company. I liked the idea of having an actual craftsman running the show rather than a manager who hires other people to do the work. (2) Chris came across as a roof geek, and I mean that in the best possible way, When we had our wood floors refurbished, we were lucky enough to stumble on a guild of floor geeks and they were fantastic. Chris had the same vibe. He really seems to really be into roofs and take pleasure in his craft. That portended well, we thought. And (3) he offered the longest guarantee on his work, several years more than the other bids. Once we signed the contract with Weathermaster, Chris was in touch to set up a date for them to start work right away. His earliest opening was about a week away, and there was sa weather system moving in, so Chris offered to come put some plastic down to cover the roof in the interim, which ended up being very helpful. On the day the work was scheduled to begin, Chris and his crew arrived on time and got to work. They ended up having to tear off three roofs before they got down to the wood, and were already starting to reroof it at the end of day 1. They had set aside five days to do the work, but were done with all the major work by day 4, at which point they did a final clean-up. I don't think that took too long because they did a pretty good job of cleaning up around the house at the end of every day. There was actually a delay on the final bit, which was putting the coping metal up on the parapets, but that was due to weather. Chris had the coping metal delivered to the house, and we wanted to paint it before it went up there, so we painted it and then it started raining. So we had to wait a couple days to get the painting done before it could be installed. Chris installed it and did some touch-up painting. It looks great. Globally, our experience with Weathermaster was great. Chris is a good communicator--very quick to respond to email--and flexible, as I guess roofers have to be. The work was completed on budget and on time, and the little extras like the plastic covering before they started and the fact that he came back to fix a tile on a separate part of the roof that he wasn't contracted for, made it all very positive. I'd definitely work with Weathermaster again, though I'm not planning on doing so for 20 years. By then, maybe his son (who was working with him) will be running the business.
Description of Work: Tore off old tar and gravel roof from house and detached garage, replaced with new 20-year modified bitumen roof, in addition to coping metal around parapets on all sides of roofs.

I had Chris and his son come back and replace 4 dormers on my roof. I was very impressed again with their professionalism and attitude to do an excellent job. After replacing my dormers Chris needed to paint the flashing around them to blend in with the color of my roof tiles. Chris went to Home Depot with a piece of tile and asked the paint department to match the tile color. Home Depot did a great job with matching the tile color. So while Chris was painting the dormers flashing he decided to paint all the vent pipes on my roof to match the new paint on the dormers flashing. This really shows the pride Chris has for his craftsmanship wanting to make sure everything blends in and looks great. Job well done!

My experience with working with Chris and Weathermaster is the same feeling you have when you have a close friend work on your home whom you can both trust and feel confident that they know what they are doing as they are skilled in a specific trade. I purchased the Angie's list coupon and then left a voicemail for Weathermaster to schedule an appointment. I received a call back the same day and then again the next day when I hadn't returned the prior message left by the company due to being too busy. Weathermaster then scheduled me the next day and showed up at my home exactly on time at 8 a.m. To my surprise, the City of San Diego decided to replace a telephone poll in front of my house the same morning and shut down both my street and electricity. Chris did not blink nor miss a step. He just parked down the street and carried his ladder and tools up to my house while avoiding dangling power lines. Chris then performed the basic maintenance pursuant to the coupon, including fixing popping nails and recaulking, etc. Then at my request, Chris verbally gave me an estimate to repair my leaking roof area and he later sent me an email with a written estimate (same price), proof of insurance, proof of workers' compensation insurance, notice of right to cancellation, etc. without me ever asking for the information, but I was glad I had it. I signed the estimate the same day and he scheduled me again the next day for a full day of roof repair. As to my "small" roof leak issue, it turned out to be a "major" leak issue. Chris quoted me a very very fair estimate orignally (which was below what I thought it would cost me to fix based upon looking at other reviews of other companies). In my case, after removing the debris on my roof from a bad DIY project, several pieces of plywood had to be replaced as you could literally put your foot through them and there was mold growing below. The leak was worse than I originally thought and it had been soaking my insulation and the ceiling in the room below, which was still wet when the roof was pulled after several days of no rain. Chris and his team removed the debris, removed the plywood, and he noticed that mold had developed. Rather than ignore the problem as not being his issue, he instead let me know about it right away and proceeded to fix it. What really blew me away was that he pulled out all of the insulation with mold and took it away from the house so the issue would not worsen and effect my family. The extra work resulted in another 1/2 day of labor to Chris and his team. In the end, Chris and Weathermaster did not charge a nickel more than the original estimate he provided even though he incurred additional costs for material and labor. My wife was so impressed with Chris and his services, as was I, that we both independently TRIED TO PAY HIM MORE than his original estimate and he graciously would not accept it. My wife specifically told both me that Chris better INCREASE his invoice for the amount of work he had done and his attention to detail. Lastly, Chris and his team were awesome in their interactions with my wife, two dogs and infant daughter. I am nominating Chris and his Company for an Angie's List award, something I have never done before. Chris and Weathermaster will be my roofers from now on.
Description of Work: I initially bought an Angie's List coupon for $200 for basic roof repair/service with the knowledge that I also had a leak in a part of my roof that I would need fixed as soon as possible. Chris from Weathermaster immediately came to my home and performed the roof maintenance and he also provided me with an estimate, at my request, for the roof repair. Chris then fully repaired my roof over the next two days to perfection and then followed up a week later to ensure everything was fine after the next big rain storm.

Chris' team contacted me shortly after I purchased an Angie's List "big deal coupon" to schedule the work. Chris arrived promptly on the day of service and was extremely helpful, sending me pictures from his phone of the damage on my roof. He made repairs around a chimney and some vents, sealing leak points on the roof. Based on our discussion, he followed up with a very competitive bid for a complete re-roofing, because my 24 year-old roof was showing serious wear. I was extremely happy with the work Chris did, and can thoroughly recommend Weathermaster Roofing Services.

Chris was very professional from start to finish. He came out to assess the condition of our roof and provided estimates for replacing either the entire or partial roof. Since we were told by the home inspector that our roof is on the tail end of its life and have already had some leaking in the garage, we decided to replace the entire roof. They were able to schedule the work on the weekend (which was a huge plus for us). They arrived on time every day and started the work promptly. They were courteous to our neighbors as Chris personally went over and let them know what was going on. After they tore off the old roof, we determined that the insulation level was low, so Chris priced out adding insulation at our request. Even with the addition, they still completed the job on time within 3 days. They did a great job cleaning up, which was also greatly appreciated. We have a beautiful new arctic white roof. We would definitely recommend Weathermaster Roofing Services.

I called WeatherMaster because I liked the fact that he said in his profile that he did his own work. I usually find that independant contractors who do their own work take more pride in the quality of their work. When I phoned to schedule, I told the contractor I was considering purchasing the Angies List Roof Maintenance Package he had advertised and that I had a leak in my upstair bedroom that was pouring in water and that this was my priority. When he came out, I showed him the active leak in my bedroom, and then because he was here to do a full roof maintenance, I also showed him any areas where we'd ever had leaks, although none of the others had leaked this winter. I explained that I knew we would need a new roof soon, and it was the next project on the list. We just needed to get by with a little maintenance for now. The contractor seemed very nice, and based on his friendly and helpful demeanor, my husband and I were sure we'd have him come back to do an entire new roof as soon as we recovered financially from our most recent remodel. However, just a week or two later, it rained again-- not even very hard-- and water was again pouring in through our bedroom ceiling. We phoned and emailed Roofmasters and got no response at first. We tried again a couple of weeks later and then we did get a very brusk email response back, stating that under no circumstances was there any guarantee on any of the work that was done on our roof and that really what I needed was a whole new roof, not roof maintenance and the best he could do is come and tarp my roof. I replied back that as a business person myself, who has promoted my business through these types of deals, I understand how he feels he's not making any money on the deal. I tried to explain to him that the point of the deal is to gain new customers who need new roofs, and by meeting us personally and repairing our leak, he was doing just that. But, by then failing to stand by his work, he was defeating the purpose of the deal. In my opinion, if he didn't think the Maintenance Package was going to be adequete, he could have suggested I get a refund on the deal and given me an estimate for a new roof. Instead, he did work and then told me that the work he did was pointless and wouldn't back it up, leaving me $349 poorer with water still dripping on my bed. I would not hire WeatherMaster roofing after this experience.

Response from Weathermaster Roofing Services
[member name removed], Thank you for your response. However, you are completely of the mark. I did state I would stand behind my work, by offering to come and put a tarp, over the area, where the leak is still active. This way I could gaurantee that the leak has stopped. You apparently did not want this service performed, because you never responded. The day of our appointment, I came out and you told me, you knew the roof was in bad shape, before I ever set up the ladder, and that you needed a new roof. But that you had purchased the Big Deal, in hopes it would be able to stop the leaks, while you saved for a new roof. You showed me 4 or 5 different areas of leakage, that you stated at the time were still actively leaking. It was also raining the day I was there at your home to perform the maintenance, raining very lightly, as it has done 2 or 3 times since. I informed you after getting on the roof, that there were issues with the existing roofing materials, as well as the wood shingle siding. All in all, I did the very best I could do. And after you contacted me, via Voice mail, I responded to you via email, since we were working in LA and had "Spotty" cell reception. You expressed your needs to have the leak addressed, and yes, I did tell you, we in no way shape or form, gauranteed to stop all your leaks.I dont know any Roofing Contractor, that gaurantees fixing leaks, on work that is not their own. But I did offer "To stand behind, my work", and come cover the area with a tarp, to help out . I guess you do not want the leak really stopped, because you never gave me any authorization to do so??? The issue here is not about money at all. It is about helping the end customer to the best of our abilities, which you can see from our other reviews, that we definately "go the extra mile", for our clients. Installation of the tarp, would be a temporary solution, but a much better solution than spreading tar all over the roof in hopes of finding a "Needle in the haystack". I believe your review is unwarranted, and unfair. I am hear to help, but can not do so without your authorization.

Very happy with Weather Master Roofing! Chris arrived at my home at the agreed day and time. Chris was very friendly and explained to me in detail on what he would be doing when he went on the roof. Once Chris inspected my roof he came to me and explained what needed to be done on my roof and how long it would take. I agreed to Chris?s suggestions and Chris and his son completed all the work in a timely manner and with high quality craftsmanship. When they were finished they cleaned up everything and Chris again went over what they did. I?m very impressed with Chris?s professionalism and the way he made me feel as a new customer. I will be using Chris for all my future roofing needs and will let my friends and neighbors know about the positive experience I had with Chris.

Chris came on the scheduled day, and spent some time giving the roof a once-over. He took several pictures, glued a split tile and went over his findings with me. It was difficult to see the pictures on his phone, but he said he would e-mail them to me. He gave a little tutorial on tile roofs. Since I'm more familiar with shingles, I appreciated that. He told me what he had found (tiles slipping, paper without enough nails that was slipping as well), patched up my leak and said he'd send me an estimate for what he thought I should do in the fairly near future. While on the roof he repaired a vent cap and several additional small things that were above the roof tune-up I'd purchased, all without charge. Chris was a pleasure to work with.

Chris showed up on time and pointed out some things that 2 other roofers did not notice. He also provided me with a lot of information on upkeep and standards which really helped. The best part about my experience was that he saved me $300. When we bought our house we had some termite damage and had that fixed. Then Chris found some additional dry rot which should have been discovered and treated by the Termite company. He recommended contacting the termite company and have them pay for it. Which they will. I got three estimates from Roofing companies and two of them just quoted me for the dry rot repair whereas just by asking a couple of questions we will have it fixed for free. He is my roofer.

Purchased a coupon from Angie's List for a tile roof tuneup by Weathermaster Roofing Service. Appointment was made easily and kept as agreed. Chris and his son arrived on time and immediately went to work. They caulked all vents, nailed some loose gutter, reattached all loose tiles and inspected the entire roof. Chris gave me a complete overview of my roof and made recommendations for future care. I am completely satisfied with the work performed and the pleasant and thorough manner in which it was performed. I also feel I got more than my monies worth. Thanks again Chris!!!!

[member name removed], Thank you for your report. I did however want to, respond to the $200 estimate for your 1 piece of roof tile. When I came out to your project, you had no replacement tiles. As stated in the "Tile Roof tune-up", replacement tiles would be charged as an extra. Minimum charges ($200 Minimum), is based of the companies overhead, and direct costs. The other roofer you found to replace the tile, must not have as much overhead. I also, know that my "Minimum", is much lower than other reputable roofing contractors. I am glad to here you got it fixed. Im sure it was easy for the other roofer, since Im sure you gave him all the info regarding the missing tile( type, manufacturer, and color), that I told you about, before he had to come all the way out to your home, and then go find the tile. I am curious though as to why you gave me a quality grade of a C? I did everything included in the Tune-up, as requested.

Chris, the owner of Weathermaster, emailed within hours after we purchased the package, was extremely flexible in finding a time that worked for my schedule, arrived on time this morning and seemed very thorough in showing us pictures of where the issue was occurring, then removing tiles and replacing the paper under the tiles to address the issue. His prices were very fair, and he did exactly what he said he would do in a very courteous and professional manner. While we won't know for sure that the issue is fully addressed until we get another heavy rain, we were very pleased and would use Chris again.

Found Chris during one of Angie's Big Deals. I called to see if my repair job would be covered under the deal. Everyone I spoke with on the phone were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They even communicated over email (not often found in this industry) so I can show them pictures of my roof issues. On the day of the appointment, Chris was prompt and professional. He replaced more tiles than I had told him about. Apparently there were more issues than I thought. He also did some temporary patches for areas I didn't know about to make the roof better. He then called and gave me a detailed run down of the things he found and the things he repaired. He advised on future repairs. I tried to offer him more payment since he did more than what was expected, but he didn't take any extra. Just wanted to have me keep him in mind when I finally get around to addressing the roof issues. It was a great experience, and I am definitely going to call him up again when I get around to addressing the roof issues.

He called me made an appointment. When he came out he told me that I didn't actually need the replacement. He was super honest and his level of integrity was impeccable. I would highly recommend this service provider.

Fine, except hearing that I should get a new roof!
Description of Work: I had leaks in two areas and one broken tile. It took about half the day for the provider and his helper.

Chris did a great job, he was fast and efficient. He knew exactly what the issue was and resolved the issues quickly.
Description of Work: Chris Wilder was very efficient. He inspected the roof, provided pictures of my roof and fixed the leak issuesCh within one and 1/2 hour. I liked him so much we are getting him to re-roof out rental property. Great job, we had a very strong storm a couple of days after his repair and we had no issues. Thanks,

Weathermater Roofing was a pleasure to work with! The whole staff impressed me as very professional including the Administrative Office staff that called me back, immediately. This company came and performed the work for me even though they had other jobs in progress. They made the time, spending long ours and working week-ends for me. The owner of the company was such a pleasant person to work with. He was very personable, prompt and always in a good mood even though he put in long hours on the job. Chris and his workers were very courteous and put an extra effort to detail such as putting car covers over my garaged cars and moving a trailer that was nearby, thereby preventing debris falling on my vehicles. This they did as a courtesy to me. Chris also did some eves work that was needed rather than stop the project and wait for someone else do the job that was not in our original estimate. The repair work that was done turned out to be much more than we thought needed to be done. He did the extra work without a second though and the added cost was hardly noticeable. We even had some rain midway through the project but Chris made sure the roof was water tight during the rain! I highly recommend him for clay tile. Chris and his company repaired my tile roof with hardly any damage to the Mission clay tiles. This was not an easy task to re-roof my clay tile roof but he obviously had the experience for a young man.
Description of Work: Weathermaster Roofing-repaired numerous leaks and termite damaged wood to my three car garage. He replaced all the damaged plywood with re-enforced engineered roofing material that was first class. The work was done quickly within a few days.

We had a the Angie's List coupon for especially offered services, including roof leak repair and maintenance. We were long overdue for this repair and feared the worse. Chris contacted us immediately via phone and e-mail, and arranged a convenient appointment for the inspection/work. He showed up on time, which was huge for me since I took time off from my job to be there. He evaluated the situation and gave me a tour of the needed work using photos from his cell phone. Chris made the repairs just days before a big rainstorm . . . and the result was no leaks! Our roof needs additional work in the near future and I plan on having Chris take care of it for us. He provided a price quote that seemed very fair. Can't ask for more . . . professional, on time, thorough and fair.
Description of Work: Chris Wilder of Weathermaster Roofing Services provided the repair of a roof leak and general maintenance of the roof, including sealing of some exposed joints, nails and flashing around skylight, vents, chimney.
