After contacting 3 contractors an Angie's list and walking through our project we settled on Paul Lyttle with Regal Concepts and Designs. The quote was $35K and we had just finished ironing out the final details when Paul sent us this in email: "With our current commitments, I am going to decline to proceed with the project." If he was too busy they could have let us know that at the beginning and saved both of us a lot of time! Now we have to start all over.

We wanted to remodel our kitchen so we received 4 quotes on the job. We selected Regal Concepts and Design for two main reasons, their price was competitive and they are a small company that used their own crew, no subcontractors. The owner Paul Lyttle, was very good about helping us make decisions on what we wanted done and materials to use. He gave us a list of vendors that he worked with most often, which was very helpful. When Regal Concepts started the work in March we met the crew of two. Alex and Jose were awesome. They were here on time each day and always left the place clean before leaving for the day. They did excellent work on the carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and laying the flooring. Our kitchen was very outdated and now it is a beautiful up to date kitchen with expanded counter tops. We love it. Paul was very good about responding back to us with any questions we had, either by email, phone or in person in a timely manner. He came to the house on a daily basis to check the work. Paul and his crew were great and easy to work with. We highly recommend them.

Very well. The quality is great and completed on time. Make sure you read the contract well and understand it fully and ask questions since Paul goes strictly with the signed contract and any additional work can cost you $80/hr.

I thought they did really great work. Its held up well in the last year and a half. We always get compliments every time someone comes over to the house.

From start to finish Paul was there to answer any questions, make sure we felt good about everything, and offer advice on things. He truly cares and took the time to make sure we were happy. He has continued to help us get our landscaping back up to par and his crew did some other odds and ends for us. His core crew, Alex and Jose, are extremely trustworthy, conscientious, and do great work. We appreciated the fact that the project finished on time and we were able to celebrate Christmas in our house. The only room for improvement was the first preliminary budget proposal was much lower than the final proposal, however, they did finish the project within the final proposal amount and this was still lower than other quotes we received. We are very happy with everything they did. We would gladly use them again and highly recommend Regal Concepts & Designs!

All was completed on time and on budget. The workers were pleasant and tidy.

Paul and his team (Alex, Ivan and Jose) were on point! Easy to deal with, pleasure to work with. After meeting with six different contractors Paul was the only one that was listing to what I wanted and also thinking outside the box. He and his crew gave me honest input and helped steer me in the right direction when I would let one of my crazy ideas get the best of me. Complete kitchen remodel took about 2 months and a week. Paul was on site everyday, his crew never missed a day. His companies that he used for the cabinets and granite fabrication were awesome also. I could continue all day with how pleased I and my family are, but you get the picture. A+, 100%, Fireworks! Call them! You'll see!

My wife and I needed a quick turnaround renovation. We were expecting our first child and we had a due date that wasn't changing, so when we were interviewing contractors Paul stated they could have all the work done in the amount of time we requested, I believed him, and he delivered. All the work above was performed in about 9 weeks, and completed on time, even with a little extra work added from the original scope. My wife and I had moved out of the house so that the work could be done faster. Work started end of February and was done early April. The work started with removal of the popcorn textured ceilings, and the end result of the work done was great, but the sub consultant used our front yard/ and hoses as a cleaning station leaving quite a bit of mess. Most of it was eventually cleaned up, but the first impression was a little tough. I spoke with Paul about it and the sub never used our yard again to clean up. After that the work got going quicker and quicker. The AC, water heater, walls, windows, new laundry, paint and coordination with our flooring installer done done within a month. One major word of kudos, the team Paul used for framing, drywall, and patching did an excellent job. I believe that is where they really excelled. The electrical install of the new recess lighting looks great and is one of my favorite features of the house. We did some quick re-adjustments of the new laundry room venting, gas lines, and electrical to make more sense with how the new machines would fit, and they were done quickly. The new windows on the outside look incredible, and Paul's team matched our stucco and paint perfectly. As I said before we were on a very rapid schedule, and so one of the last items was painting. Overall, the paint came out OK, but we went through a few rounds of needed touch-ups to missed areas and a few wobbly lines, but Paul's team did what they could to fix things. I would say maybe if I had given them a bit more time the interior paint would have had a better quality, but in the end we got an overall decent job. The last item was a plumbing job. We found that after the install of the new tankless water heater the water pressure in the house was significantly less than previous. Paul's plumber sub was sure it was the reducer and valve outside the house, but I wasn't so sure. When I tried to work with Paul on the price and to see if the new plumbing components were actually necessary and maybe the issue was with the new tankless system he disagreed. I offered to split the cost with him but he refused. Ultimately, after replacing the new plumbing components, the house pressure was still bad. I paid for new plumbing components that did not fix the pressure problem, but Paul did finally offer to split the cost and look into what could be causing the problem. At that time, we were juggling our new baby and truing to move back in and I just wanted the project behind us. Overall, I would use Regal Concepts again. Pros: Pauls Team hit every schedule milestone Great quality of framing, windows, electrical, and coordination Good team of workers, always on time and extra effort Cons: Interior paint was done quickly, but was under rush schedule, but needed a lot of fixing. Our front and backyards were used as messy paint and patch clean up stations.

All went well. The representative, Jose, was punctual and polite. He went from room-to-room and removed any old caulking and replaced it with new caulking. He was very thorough and meticulous. Great job!

Paul is excellent. He is a Master Craftsman and General Contractor who got his education doing custom bars in Ireland, ya he has a cool accent. He does the wood and cabinetry work himself, and is very picky over the people he uses for the other trades. He did our projects over several years and everything always went perfect. He is very reasonably priced, especially at the quality level of the work. He works with you to make YOU happy, and the designs and materials were always what we wanted the first time. I would post pictures, but you can look on his website. Many of the pictures there are of our home. As a final note, I know how to evaluate a contractor's work and pricing. I am responsible for facility management for a 50,000 employee, 3,000 site company and I manage 100's of millions in annual spend on these things. I would never hire anyone in San Diego to remodel a room, or a whole home.

It went extremely well. Paul is a meticulous craftsman and the remodeling included perfect eyebrow archways with encased moldings and columns as room dividers and a relocated, new fireplace. Because of his superior craftsman work, Paul would be classified as the "finisher". Since he is European born and "London Guild" trained, it shows. The architect, with whom he works, is first class. He and his architect tied in a very difficult, exterior design to incorporate the portico with the existing mansard parapet roofing.

They staff was overall good. They were very good at keeping their area clean. Any given day two to three workers would show up. It was a four month job. The quality of the workmen stood out.

Paul's crew was excellent. They worked on our house as if it was their own. They are true professionals. They did no damage and worked diligently through the day. They were on time. They made suggestions to make things more beautiful or easier for us when the job was finished. Paul was over at my house 2-3 times a week depending on what was going on at that point in the construction, and we appreciated that because he lives 45 miles from my house. If we wanted to change something, Paul would give us both sides of the consequences of doing the change. For most of the job, things went very smoothly. We did have some delays, but they were do to problems with 1) getting 3 slabs of granite which we had to pick out 4 times because they would only have 2 slabs and we would have to wait for the next set of slabs which didn't look like then ones we liked. Or picking out 3 slabs only to get them to the manufacturer who called us because the granite had polishing circles on it. Or 2) the cabinet manufacturer was 3 weeks late getting the cabinets to us. But these things were out of Paul's control. What he did do was keep his crew working on other things while we waited for the items to come in. One thing that was very refreshing was that Paul was very levelheaded and didn't get upset over things we wanted to change. He didn't take things personally. He would consider it, talk to his crew to get their input on the pluses and minus of the change and then talk to us to make sure we wanted to do it. He wanted us to get everything we could and worked hard to make that happen. He is a professional contractor and acts like it. The kitchen is beautiful. We are so happy with it. It just feels comfortable and also feels like it fits in with the rest of our house. The cabinets are a deep cherry and they have many things designed into them to make them functional, yet gorgeous. The crew did a great job replacing the large , slate tile around the island after they pulled it up. The kitchen really trips our trigger. As this was my first renovation experience, I had some trepidation. I had heard horror stories from neighbors about contractors disappearing after they began work or not completing the work accurately or in a timely fashion. But we had a great experience working with Paul. From the beginning of the process, Paul's first concern was to make us happy and to do the project as we wanted. Not only was the work scheduled on a daily basis until it was completed, but Paul was also very responsive to all questions and concerns we had. Calls and emails were returned immediately, and if a site visit was required he was there the same day. His crew spoke very highly of him and love working for him, which, to me, speaks volumes about his integrity. All members of his team are highly skilled and very professional. Carlos, who did the tile work, is a master craftsman, and Tony, who did the majority of the plumbing, light installation, demo and cabinet placement, excels at everything. The crew always arrived on time, and I loved that they cleaned up every single day. Over the course of a couple of months, our bathrooms were transformed from outdated, ugly spaces into beautiful, peaceful, spa-like rooms. At completion, there were no major issues -- everything was installed correctly and worked the way it should. Paul Lyttle and his team at Regal Concepts & Designs do superior quality work, and I highly recommend this company.

We chose Paul after getting bids from 4-5 other contractors. After coming by to assess the work we wanted, he sent a detailed bid that really helped us understand what we could accomplish with the budget we had. He responded promptly to questions about certain aspects of the bid, e.g., could we do this without doing that and what how would that change the bid. He was patient and thorough with his answers and costs. Some of the other contractors seemed to talk in such generalities that is was difficult to feel comfortable that the costs wouldn’t increase after they started working. That never happened with Paul. Paul came by almost everyday that the guys were on the job and reviewed the work. If he wasn’t there personally, it was obvious he was talking with the crew by phone. He proactively discussed issues with us as they came up and offered solid solutions and/or options. There were no big surprises or changes in the original bid due to unforeseen problems. It is obvious that has done this work for many years and had excellent design recommendations. We were ‘updating’ the house to ready it for sale. The kitchen turned out beautifully, thanks to the great work by Paul and his crew. We were under contract within 2 weeks of listing the home and the kitchen really sold the house! We highly recommend Paul and his company for any remodeling work you need and we will call Paul for our next remodel Thank you, Paul and crew!

We had a very outdated kitchen with horrible flourescent lighting, pink tile/countertops and cheap laminate cabinets. We love to cook and entertain, so wanted to open up the kitchen to the family room/bar area, and make room for an 8 burner Viking range. While existing electrical and plumbing prevented us from fully opening up to the family room/bar area as hoped, the pass through we were able to get works wonderfully and I think the change in design helped to define the kitchen as a separate work area. The job took almost eight weeks and consisted of the following work: - creating a pass through area to the family room/bar area - rerouting electrical and plumbing to allow the pass through and to level the ceiling - Moving the refrigerator to the opposite wall - Installing new gas line to accommodate the 8 burner range -New plumbing in the laundry room for a sink - New can lighting in kitchen/laundry room, eye ball lights for art work - Beautiful new cherry cabinets with soft close drawers and pull out shelves - Granite countertops - Tile flooring and backsplash - Painting and stucco - New door to laundry room and garage. - Base molding in the dining room Paul and his team were great. They showed up promptly each morning and cleaned up each evening. We did have some unexpected issues, but with a remodel of this size we figured this would be the case. Paul was able to offer us viable options, and the end result is spectacular. We are very pleased with the work that was done and plan to use him again for another project.

The entire project went very well and my husband and I are now enjoying a beautiful new kitchen. Paul was very professional and his crew was easy to have in my home. Paul listened to what we wanted to do and was very helpful when we needed guidence with sourcing materials. They were always punctual and Paul was pretty accurate with the amount of time it took to complete. He was willing to work with us and get the job done on our time schedule. He also wanted to make sure the job was done correctly, which it was. They were very good about keeping the area tidy by cleaning up at the end of each work day. They were also good with hauling out the rubbish that was created with a kitchen re-model. Paul was good with returning calls and e-mail promptly when I had questions and concerns with the project. Paul and his crew were considerate of my neighbors which was appreciated too.

We are in the middle of the remodel project right now but this is an EXCELLENT company to work with. Paul is the contractor and makes sure that everything goes smoothly. He is patient, honest, responsive and professional. I feel so fortunate to have found this company and to be working with a contractor who we totally trust. He has integrity and works with his clients to make certain that they are completely satisfied. We have not completed the project yet but when asked to write a review I wanted to share my positive experience. We are pleased to have found Regal Concepts through Angies List and will use him again as well as give him our highest recommendation. When done, I will write again and share pictures.

I never received a confirmation and after a week I called the listed phone number and inquired. They had to look for it and found it in their spam file. No problem for me. I never look at my spam either. Hopefully they check theirs more often now. After order was recognized, it was handled expeditiously and cutting board was delivered to my complete satisfaction.

I selected Paul and Regal Concepts to remodel my bathroom for three reasons - first, he was the most prompt and easy-to-get-a-hold-of contractor I contacted for a quote. Second, his quote was within my budget range. And finally, my house is older (1949), and he was very knowledgeable of the possible old house issues that might arise, giving me the confidence that he knew what he was doing and would do a quality job. Paul and his team did a fantastic job. The new plumbing and fixtures all work great, the tile work was beautifully done, and the project was even finished ahead of the quoted schedule. As a convenience to me, the team was obviously conscientious about keeping my house clean while they worked, and I really appreciate the fact that they re-installed the toilet at the end of each work day, since this is the only bathroom in the house! All in all, Paul made my bathroom remodel very easy for me, and I would recommend Regal Concepts to anyone considering a bathroom or kitchen remodel.
