After a few false starts, Mr Worst came to my home to assess my requirements. He promised me an estimate within a few days. When nothing arrived after a week or so, I sent him a polite reminder, to which I received absolutely no reply. I assumed that my job was simply too small to interest Mr Worst (although I did agree to purchase several thousand dollars worth of equipment from him -- some of which, it turns out, was not even needed), but I would have appreciated some sort of response to to let me know that he would not be bidding on the job after all. After the start of the new year, it occurred to me that many service business have a slow period at that time, so perhaps even a smaller project might be of interest to Mr Worst under the circumstances. I wrote him again, asking if he might be interested at that time. Again, I did not receive the courtesy of a reply. Before Angie's List, I had several bad experiences with contractors who started a job, then vanished, leaving me with a terrible mess. I think there is the risk of just such a situation with anyone who promises a bid, then disappears, so I am actually relieved that Mr Worst (such an apposite name!) did not respond to my offer of a second chance.

I am sorry Mr. (removed member name) felt he had a bad experience with us. Indeed, we did no work for this customer, as the job he was asking for was outside of the type of work we provide. We did not come to an agreement to make a purchase, as I did not provide him with an estimate, given what he was asking for was not the kind of work we provide. We will only work on jobs where we are allowed to do a proper installation and are not hindered or overly limited in this endeavor. When a customer's requirements are below our standard of excellence, we politely decline the work. Although Evolution Home Theater specializes in full home theater installations Shawn was not too proud to work with me on what was a simple job for him. I could not have gone to a big box store and handled the replacement myself. Shawn is knowledgeable, professional and patiently explained (in layman's terms) the functional changes that would be made to my remote so I would know how to operate it. I chose to replace the DVD player with a Blu-Ray player and he explained its benefits over DVD and its simple operation as well. He also corrected an annoying programming glitch in the remote control that we had been experiencing ever since it was originally purchased in 2006. It was very nice to have someone kindly and effectively explain high-tech subjects without the condescending tone I've experienced on other occasions.
Description of Work: A Yamaha DVD player I purchased 18 mos. ago stopped working. The DVD player was one of multiple components that are linked to a radio frequency remote that was programmed on a laptop computer. These were all installed in a custom built-in cabinet and programmed by Tweeter who no longer operates in California and therefore has no service staff left here.
