All home improvement needs. Sunrooms. Walk in handicap bath tubs. Handicap showers. Grab bars. Windows patio enclosures. Patio covers. Bath and shower replacement. Bathroom remodeling.
Finished project came out nice. A few construction glitches along the way which could have been avoided with better communication. Everything was fixed to my satisfaction. Months later when it rained the cover was leaking which took several calls to address. Final bill was adjusted to account for materials not needed.
Description of Work: Patio cover.

The crew came, did their job and left. They cleaned up the areas well, and were very efficient.
Description of Work: They installed new windows through out my home. John was ill and if I were to do it again, I would either stay and address the finish work, which was not BAD, just could have been better or wait, which I wasn't in a position to do, for John to be able to oversee the job. I have had a latch that wasn't working and trim that needed a bit more adhesive and Lapham has been very very good about backing up their work.

It was a lot easier than I thought it would be. They had a good method of getting things done. I am really happy with the tub. The guys worked very hard while they were here. They also kept the house very clean during the work.
Description of Work: Installed a new walk in bath tub. Installed a stone wall surround. Removed the bathroom door and re-installed it to fit the tub into the bathroom.

Everything went great.
Description of Work: I recently contacted Lapham Cnstruction co. To remodel my bathroom. I was very pleased with the contact John Lapham made with me for the bid. He was helpful in suggesting things I could use in the way of the vanity top and tile in the shower. His workers were conceincious and courteous. And the workmanship was well done. I would recommend Lapham Construction Co for any work that would be needed.

We enjoyed working with you. It was a little stressful getting the tile colors dialed in, but the finished product was absolutely beautiful. Thanks for taking the time to post this review.

The windows went in alright. they did leave some broken glass but not too bad. the finish trim of the windows definitely leaves something to be desired with the uneven seams and poor finish work. there were unfinished places in the stucco I would have thought they would have filled/repaired where the installation damaged it.the painting was done by a man from tehachapi; He and his partner were always on time, worked as neatly as I have ever seen painters able to work...cleaned up at the end of each day, repaired a light fixture that was too high for me to reach without me asking them. Left lights on to welcome me home. I cannot speak highly enough of this crew. (Vern Alford) I just found them to be a bit overpriced. I was new to the town, had no contacts and so was flying by the seat of my pants here. Grabbed the" good" offer the nice man gave me at a home show here in Bakersfield. I ran with it and ended up irritated with myself. So, then the granite installation. First to remove the existing counter, the man who was the general manager, Steve Hill, did the work himself. He came in the evenings and stayed late which really was not alright with me, but I wanted the work done and was willing to bend over backwards...he did work in a tidy manner though. It seemed to take forever to get done. The crew he brought in from LA to install was professional, neat for such a messy job, and got it done beautifully. Then, Steve installed my dishwasher, and didn't hook up any hot water to it, and the kitchen faucet he installed backwards. when I said something to him about the faucet direction he said," I don't know, you bought it." And while he had told me he would replace the obviously leaking pipes under the sink when I asked him about it this, his answer was,"Oh, they are much better quality pipes then what I would put in." this was after in the beginning he told me how he would install these great, thick, pipes under the sink. I had to hire someone else to repair the dishwasher installation , re install the sink faucet correctly, and replace the sink pipes. The sink pipes by the way, were extremely thin pipe and obviously leaking at the joints. the damage to the board of the cabinet would tell one there was a problem in the first place and the calcium on the joint another hint. and Steve had replaced the board......I learned a BIG lesson. I paid too much out front, and so had no where to go to force any issue. He is such a good salesman, declares himself a spiritual man and I am too much. or was, too much a hick to catch it. I wanted to believe him to be what he said; professional, honest and honorable. He wasn't. Again, I have since learned he is not licensed. or a part of Lapham Const. I suggest you DO NOT use him.
Description of Work: Steve Hall, I have since learned, had nothing to do with Lapham Const. He was working on his own, using their license WITHOUT their knowledge. My rating above is strictly for the window installation of Lapham Const. And the money spent was for the work they did and that of Steve Hall. I do not know how much the windows alone cost, at this minute. And, since this review, Lapham Const. has contacted me and re caulked the windows. I find them to be honest and honorable; backing up THEIR work, I did NOT require that they do any reparations for Steve Halls poor work. In hindsight, had I not been ill, new in town and being under duress, needing a home to move my lifetime of things into from out of state, I would have contacted them about Steve and his work, using their name and license as his lead into my home. I just wanted the big things done to make the house sound. My only complaint is the finish workmanship is sloppy on the windows. And I have a window with a broken opener that has yet to be replaced. This may be the window company error but I am left to deal with it as it was being sent to me for John to repair. Steve Hall put in a toilet, a fan light in the bathroom, one section of wall trim. He had the painters take out a row of cabinets in the kitchen for me, had a company from LA install a kitchen granite counter. Steve removed the old counter in the kitchen to prepare it for the granite people and installed the dishwasher I bought at Home Depot and a new kitchen faucet I also purchased seperately. He hired Vern Alford to Paint the living room and the master bedroom. Steve Install a board under the sink to replace the 0bviously water damaged existing board. Replace kitchen and bathroom overhead florescent bulbs and replaced the plastic opaque covers with a grill, stainless look; two sections in the bathroom and six sections in the kitchen. He replaced a rusty ceiling vent cover. He Installed a microwave I bought from Home Depot. there was going to be more; taking down the gold colored shower surround, and replacing all the bathroom fixtures in both bathrooms. but once I found Steve hadn't the tools and his hours were not conducive to my comfort I took that off the list. I did not get any money back. Steve installed the dishwasher with no hot water attached and did not replace the leaking pipes under the kitchen sink. He didn't bother to seal the board he replaced under the sink and was unable to match the trim original in the bathroom...He didnt bother to match the strip of wood to transition from the kitchen to the dining room from tile to laminate. With all his talk how he was doing custom work, I would have thought he would have replaced the two VERY short sections in the bathroom to match the new. He bought all his product from Home depot and again, for what he said and the price I paid I expected to have better quality products. He installed the kitchen faucet backwards. again...the painter from tehatchap, Vern Alfrod, did a good job; only not painting one area on top of a shelf in the living room while he did paint that same type of shelf top in the bedroom....also I can easily see where he did two coats on the bedroom wall and only one coat on the alone the wall to ceiling seam... The granite people from LA did an incredible job.

Response from Lapham Construction
Lapham Construction installed replacement windows for this member. We did not contract any other work. After we found this review I contacted the member and set up an appointment the same day to resolve any issues with the windows. After discussing the issue we found that the customer was not happy with the trim work we installed but had not contacted us about it. I was able to bring a crew in that same day to re-install the trim. After we completed the repair the customer told us that she would be happy to chage the review. We offer a 5 year labor warranty on all of our work. I tell all our customers that. "we have never had a complaint filed against us. Not because we're perfect, but because if a customer contacts us with an issue we send out a real person to fix it." I am sorry to hear about all the problems the member had with the other work that was done. As I said before it was not done by Lapham Construction.
