Things got off to a very promising start. I liked Dana Green and Kelly Wood right off the bat. They both arrived at our initial meeting on time, and we had a great conversation about what my wife and I were looking for in a home. (Our first!) The next day, we met with Dana and Kelly at a property we liked. They got a good sense of what we were looking for, and I felt like we had a really good fit. (This meeting was on Thursday, May 9 2013.) After that meeting, things went downhill. We were a funding challenge -- both of the mortgage brokers Dana referred us to were unable to make the numbers work for us. I continued my search for a mortgage after those two brokers were not able to fund us, but I felt a noticeable drop in interest from Dana and her team when their preferred lenders weren't working with us. I kept them updated through email for another week as I worked on funding. By Friday, May 17, I had secured pre-approval letters from TWO different mortgage brokers. Dana was notified of our pre-approval via email AND voicemail at approximately 2pm on May 17 (first one), and approximately 5:30pm on May 17 (second one). I called her myself and left a voicemail that same day between 5:30 & 6pm. I got no acknowledgment of receipt of any of these things by end of the evening Friday. Saturday May 18, I heard nothing. By Sunday evening, May 19, I called Dana's assistant and left another voicemail. That assistant responded via email and said she would be in touch "first thing" Monday to set up an appointment. While all of this nothing was happening, an offer was made on the house we had been looking at on May 9. We wanted to make an offer there, but I couldn't get ahold of my realtor. That offer was made Saturday morning. I finally did get a voicemail from Dana on Monday, May 20 at noon. By then, a second offer had come in on the property we wanted. I fired the Dana Green Team for this on that Monday afternoon. When I've been working with an agent, and I have two pre-approval letters, and a ton of real estate action happens on the weekend, I expect a response. I didn't get one. We lost the opportunity to bid on the house we wanted as a result of the complete lack of responsiveness by Dana Green and her team. I'm sure her team is great to work with if your price range is higher than ours (we were "only" shopping for a $1MM home), and if you are a cash buyer or an easy person to fund ... or perhaps if you initiate the meeting with her and her team after you've gotten your pre-approval. For us, however, the experience was lousy, and I cannot recommend her team based on my experience. In the market we're in, where multiple offers come in on houses in rapid succession, can you really afford a realtor who doesn't respond to pre-approval notification for three days?
