A-1 CARPET CO

Description of Work: A1 Carpet helped me select then installed engineered walnut hardwood in my loft here in San Francisco. Barbara handled the wood selection purchasing process. She met me at major designer studios where the selection was over the top. After helping me whittle the choices down to a shortlist, she worked to get me the best pricing, much lower than I could have gotten myself and comparable to internet numbers. When the selected vendor didn't offer all the material I needed, she searched out alternate vendors to get matching trim pieces I needed. This all happened in the background so when the install team showed up, everything was ready to go. Michael and team took care of the installation. This was not trivial as they had to install over both wood subfloor and cement, requiring both nailing and gluing. The installation consisted of numerous undercuts for existing closet shelving, and doorway trim, as well as curves and odd angles for spiral staircase and floor plan, everything you would expect and loath for a modern loft design. They also installed all the baseboards in my unit consisting of all bullnose corner pieces and odd angles. I had the floor installed after the loft was painted, interesting in that my paint contractor made a HUGE fuss that the flooring team would screw up the freshly painted walls with dust, dings, and glue, so that the paint should be done last (with an additiional $500 in prep work charges). I trusted A1 and that trust was well placed. They treated my house as if it was their own. No dust, not a single mark on the fresh paint, and finished the work right on schedule. They even proactivly followed up on the remaining scheduled touch-up items. I wish Angie's List allowed us to post pictures, as there are precision cuts and critical placement of the hardwood where I can't figure out how Mike and team pulled it off.
