Pablo the tile guy was great. John explained everything as I questioned all aspects of this renovation. Patient guy as I was very demanding. Kitchen looks great. Love my laundry room

+ 5 moreJohn gave us good advice on selecting tile and fixtures. John worked with us on tile layout design and choosing the shower enclosure. We are very happy with all the advice and the quality of the work. He takes full charge of all the details of the project, comes to the site frequently and stays in close communication. Always reachable and responsive. Last minute we decided to redo the fireplace tile and mantel. John efficiently combined this with the original job. Much to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Replaced old bathroom tile in shower and tub area with new. Replaced shower enclosure with new frameless glass enclosure. Handled all required plumbing, including installation of new faucet and valve.

+ 11 moreOverall it went well as could be expected. John worked patiently with us to develop a design that gave us as much from our "wish list" as was possible and affordable. We did a lot of tinkering. John forthrightly explained there would be delays and minor disasters. There was a long wait for the cabinets to be delivered before work could begin. Demolition was timely and quick, but discoveries of two instances of rotting walls slowed things down and added to cost. Despite plastic barriers, there was more dust than expected. John filled in personally when certain sub-contractors did sub-par work. John did all the cabinet work himself--his specialty--and most of the plumbing. Some days, progress seemed to halt. There were ba-zillions of unexpected decisions, e.g. exact placement of electrical outlets and phone, color of grouting, placement of drawer pulls, etc. requiring constant attention. Somehow, we all survived, stayed on budget, and are still on good relations. We love the results.
Description of Work: Complete demolition of kitchen and breakfast nook down to floors. Eliminating weight-bearing wall between kitchen and living room and replacing with supporting beam. Slab work to re plumb and rewire kitchen for island with sink and dishwasher. Lifting part of ceiling to remove fluorescent lights and plastic panels and replace with can lights. Install all new wood cabinets, drawers, and pantry cupboards, including two-tiered "lazy-suzan" in corner cabinet, panels for built-in refrigerator, and special cabinet for extra-deep convection microwave. Crown molding to tie in kitchen with breakfast nook. Granite countertops on cabinets and island and undermounted sink. Included in the above price are painting of kitchen and nook walls and ceilings and installation of porcelain tile floors, but these were done by independent contractors recommended by John Bailey. Not included in the above price is the cost of all new appliances (built-in refrigerator, oven, cooktop, convection microwave, and dishwasher) for approx. $10,000.

+ 4 moreThey remodeled the master bathroom. They took out a sunken tub and replaced it with a free standing one. They put new cabinets and new travertine tiles. They replaced all fittings and fixtures. They did the same with the guest bathroom also. They replaced the tub and the fittings and fixtures. They also put travertine tiles on the floor.

+ 6 moreOne of the pipes under my kitchen sink burst and flooded the first floor of my first floor. I needed help right away and Coastal Kitchen came to the rescue. I to several bids and Coastal Kitchens was the most professional and with the best bid for the work I wanted done. I refaced all my cabinets, got a new island (upgrade) and replaced my tile countertops for granite....he even installed all my new appliances. Every little detail Coastal Kitchen too accountability and the outcome was flawless. Coastal Kitchens was very approachable, understood what I wanted and wasn't afraid to give suggestions. Very pleasant to work with and will definitely do business again.
Description of Work: Complete Kitchen remodel. Refaced all kitchen cabinets and drawers. New customer island (remodeled to the specs we wanted) to replace the old one. New granite to replace the old tile counter tops. Backsplash with granite New bathroom countertop. New plumbing for Kitchen faucet and bathroom faucet. Put in new Sink Hooked up all new appliances which included Gas Oven, Microwave, and Dishwasher Hooked up two new electrical boxes for the island according to code.

+ 10 moreCoastal Kitchens cares about the customer. He offers his knowledge to all aspects of the job, from design to install to finishing. He will go as custom as the customer will let him. We loved our kitchen so much, that when we moved we remodeled our new home with Coastal Kitchens again. John is extremely flexible on all custom features from specific lighting requests to edges on the granite. John is very honest, and a people person. He is not just a sales guy, he actually does the work, and does it to very high standards. If you ever want to see his work, I have detailed pictures of both kitchen remodels and you can visit our new kitchen. Look at the pictures, can you believe it's same house... It is! BTW, we thought it was strange that references John provided seemed to "love" him and his work. We never had that experience with a contractor before... but after the remodel we felt the same way!
Description of Work: John Bailey of Coastal Kitchens and Baths completely specified a new kitchen. This was not a simple remodel. We wanted not only a new kitchen but a complete reconfiguration including removal of walls (see picture), relocation of A/C and Plumbing. John was the only contractor who bid that "got it" and asked all the right questions and had all the right concerns. In a SINGLE day, he gutted the entire kitchen, there was nothing left, not even a nail on the site. He is the only contractor I have every had (I have significantly remodeled two homes) than removes everything same day. We had all new cabinets, granite, and appliances installed. He paid extreme attention to every detail, and alerted me to any decision needed as they came. The result of this kitchen was amazing.

Worked well with us in making complicated decisions. Very happy with John's finished work and would highly recommend him. I have referred his work to 4 other friends who have used him as well.

Visited granite yards, tile showrooms without charge and made recommendations and suggestions. Recommended top appliance outlets. Knows all local specialty stores for detail items. Great suggestion on how to save money on appliances and fixtures. Well informed, you can tell he is a pro at his profession. We are hiring him for two additional bathrooms, and have recommended to several friends already. Great on his list now.
Description of Work: Repainted kitchen cabinets, adjusted drawers and doors, hinges and glides. Added full height cabinet for double oven. New granite countertop and custom tile backsplash. New sink, faucet and fixtures, upgraded electrical, glass cabinet doors, new cooktop, custom doors for dishwasher and refrigerator, cut down bar and built new bar cabinet. Took extra steps to insure subtop for granite was completely level, sturdy and waterproof. These extra steps were unseen and provided free of charge. No change order, part of a professional job. Performed all customer cabinetry on site. Cleaned up all work areas daily. Subs for electrical, granite, tile, and paint all excellent prompt and thorough. Experienced contractor. On time, start to finish, six weeks.

+ 8 moreWe are extremely pleased with the results. John and his assistant Jimmie did a wonderful job and certainly went the extra mile. Once the job was started there were no delays. John had many helpful design suggestions. The mess and disruption was kept to a minimum and everyone was easy to work with. We wouldn't hesitate to use John and his company again. We found his name on Angie's List and he was a real find. We had tried to contact many other contractors and he was one of a very few that returned our call.
Description of Work: John remodeled one full bath, which involved taking out the old shower, a huge tub, removing one wall, and some of the drywall. We now have a new shower with travertine tile, vanity with granite top, improved lighting, mirror, toilet, and tile floor. The half bath has new travertine flooring, granite topped vanity, mirror, toilet, and lighting.
