Joergensen Construction

I bought a house as an investment and rented it immediately with the proviso (and a kickback in the rent) that the construction would be ongoing during the first month of their tenancy. The house was built in 1951 and although it is a well built sturdy little place, the bedrooms, closets and only bathroom are pretty small. On the advice of several real estate pros I decided to add a bathroom and enlarge one of the bedrooms. The renovation would draw higher rent and increase the value of the property. With my limited experience I was apprehensive and cautious about choosing a contractor. I called several referrals but wanting more estimates, I hunted on my own. I found Joergensen Construction on Service Magic. Don responded quickly and came to the house to offer a bid. Of the 10 contractors I met with, I reviewed 6 serious proposals. Don?s was on the low end. His proposal was serious, professional & all-inclusive. It was not of the glitzy type in a laminated folder. I narrowed the prospective contractors and started looking for references (angieslist, yahoo, etc.) and reviews. As I have come to rely on internet reviews, I was dismayed and somewhat leery when the only info I could find about Joergensen Construction was from Service Magic (my original source) and his own pre-fab website. Still, I had a good feeling about him so I asked him for references. He sent over nine names/numbers of past customers. I called every single one and based on their verbal reviews, I was sold. These people loved Don! They were enthusiastic about his work, his work ethic and his price. They could not say enough good things about him ? it was crazy, most of them invited me to their homes to see the work he had done. Now I know why. He has pride in his work and cares about the customer. By his own admission he is not internet savvy hence the limited internet presence. Don was a joy to work with. His communication was excellent; he either answered his phone or called me right back. I got more than my money?s worth; he did a lot of little things at no charge and is an experienced craftsman. Throughout the project he had ingenious ideas to enhance the living area. Don had the idea to wall off the closet in the master and open the space to the adjoining bedroom which resulted in a full-length closet in the adjoining bedroom. It was an ingenious use of the space. In the master, he added a small walk-in. Having the large closets in 2 bedrooms immediately made the house more functional and appealing to a prospective renter and buyer. Even though we started during the holidays, the addition was completed in a timely, efficient manner. Don and his crew remained respectful of the tenants. He is the consummate professional and assumes responsibility for every aspect of the job. I will definitely use Joergensen Construction in the future; I actually am more ambitious about buying another property because I have a contractor I can trust! PS: Don works with his brother. They are both witty and funny. It?s like having Click-n-Clack on the job! PPS: I called Don?s references & got rave reviews. If no one answered I left a message. I thought it was a good sign when all of his previous customers returned my call. Everyone just loves and respects this guy.
