plumbing, water heater repair, drain cleaning
+ 1 moreMy water heater started leaking, I didn't know where to turn so of course being a single female I started looking online, at Home Depot and Lowes, I tried to get an idea of how much it will all cost with installation. Home depot quoted me at $1145 not including the permits and if there is anything extra they might need to do. So I searched for plumbers online and found J.L. Martinez. I called him and explained what was going on, immediately I felt relief in talking to him, and since he lives literally like 3 blocks from my house he offered to come by and take a look at it last night free of charge.(AWESOME!) So he came on by and explained everything, he was so nice, and personable. He offered for me to get my own stuff to help me save a bit of money and even offered to come with me, so I would know what all to get. So that's what we did. We went and got all the supplies and he got straight to work. He did and awesome job and made me feel so comfortable, and confident I wasn't being taken advantage of. Which he very easily could have done. He recommend I take some pictures to document before and after, which I did. After he finished with the water heater, he cleaned my drains and for over 5 hours of work he only charged me for 4 hours. I really feel so blessed to be able to have met him, he is a neighbor and a new friend. I love to support local businesses and would highly recommend him to anyone who asked me. He made this whole ordeal a lot less painful and with saving me some money, less sting. Thank you, Jose.
Description of Work: He came with me to Home Depot so I could purchase all the materials myself, to help me save some money. He replaced my water heater, laid carpet protector down in case any water leaks taking out of my house. He installed this T trap thingy to catch the sediment because apparently SDG&E has dirty gas which can ruin your water heater mechanism or something like that. I asked if he could take a look at my drains that are really slow to drain. So he did that too and snaked it really far pulling out a ton of hair, mine and my dogs. After all that he gave me a discount on the drains and only charged 80 an hours on the labor. He got my house at 10 AM and finished at 5:45 PM. Total cost 405.50, you do the math. He only charged me for the actual time to install it not going to the store and everything else. My last plumber cost me over 1,000 dollars for not nearly the amount of work. I almost forgot to mention he did all this on a Sunday!
