I had Jamie come out twice to accomplish my full "honey-do" list of tasks. He was prompt, professional, he did quality work, and his price was very fair. With an extra few minutes left on the clock he offered to fix something that had been bugging me but I didn't have on his list! Talk about great customer support! Jamie is in my "speed-dial" now! I strongly recommend him!
Description of Work: I required someone to do typical handyman work around the house such as: install programmable light switch, repair hole in wall, mount a heavy wall clock, install cupboard closures, install small bathroom mirror, secure bookcase to wall, install shower head.

After about a couple of hours, the project was completed, and my wife loves it. I will keep Greener Rhythms in My Favorites for the care and professional for me, the customer because James offered his help at anytime I needed assistance. He could have easily taken the job to make a few bucks for Greener Rhythms, but instead opted to help the customer. The actual cost to me: $0.00...I already had the necessary tools to install the Pot Rack. I just needed back-up.
Description of Work: Install a Pot Rack. James, of Greener Rhythms, told me he would be very happy to install the Pot Rack, but it would be better that I try first. He sent me links with videos, links, and where to get the tools that I needed.

I was very happy with Jamie's professionalism, courtesy and creativity. We had an especially difficult situation in which one post that holds up our pergola had to be replaced in place and he figured out how to do it with the least amount of deconstruction. I was delighted. Jamie is a very good carpenter who I would definately hire again. Thanks Angie!
Description of Work: Jamie repaired and repainted various posts and porch railings around the outside of our house that had been damaged by dry rot. He took special care to match existing posts and railings and he recycled materials where he could.

Jamie arrived on time (called just before arriving) on the appointed date. He tried several methods to remove the embedded headless screws and finally had to drill them out. He then oiled the mechanism and replaced it with new screws that he provided. He was meticulous in cleaning up the mess and was pleasant and thorough in his demeanor. It was one of those "small jobs" that is so often hard to find anyone willing to take the time to do. I would definitely use him again.

It didn't After reading the contractors reply, I am going to believe that as he said, things just don't always work out. We all have bad days...maybe this was just a bad few weeks for him. He was very apologetic when he failed to show up, etc. He was nice which is why we wanted to give him so many chances...So, apology accepted - Bad review...although everything still stands as true, it's okay. We all have bad days/weeks/months. Who am I to judge?
Description of Work: We tried to hire this company. The first appointment he did not show up or call. My daughter took off work to meet him. He was aware that she was on a tight time schedule. We scheduled a second time. He called but did not show up, again. Because of his ratings on Angie's list we were willing a third and fourth time...the third time, he emailed a nice note just a few minutes before the appointment that he was stuck in an airport and could not get a flight home and would email us when he did. When he finally got the flight home (from Newark, New Jersey to CA...this took several days) he emailed that if we hadn't given up on him, he would like to make an appointment. We are patient people. We like to give people the benefit of the doubt and we really needed out fire security door replaced so we tried to schedule another appointment. My daughter was teaching summer school (I am deaf so she has to be here when workers come over) so she gave him the dates and times she could be here. He emailed back with a few times he could make it that did not coincide with her schedule at all. We decided he must just not want to do our job or something. But he could have told us that and we could have called someone else. Why give us the run-around? Although we did not hire him and reports that actually have work done count more toward a companies overall score, I think ours should be the exception. Greener Rhythms did not want to do our job in my opinion. The either thought it was too difficult for the amount of money they could charge or we were inconveniently located? I don't know. We wanted a firedoor between my condo and the garage replaced. They are heavy and tricky. But why put us through four run-around contacts. Just say no at the first contact..or second or whenever you decide this is not a job you want to complete.

Response from Greener Rhythms
Hello member, I understand your frustration and I will address each of your complaints. Let me first appologize for how things went in your experience, I assure you this is NOT the norm. I cant afford to turn down work or have negative reviews posted anywhere!! Your original contact came at a very hectic time, I was in the midst of tying up loose ends on several jobs before going on a family trip for 3 weeks. I have no employees so this is difficult. Your availabilty to meet was limited and challenging for my schedule and I suppose i was more overwhelmed than I thought. I am not making excuses just telling you the facts! Our first meeting was absolutely my own fault, I goofed when I added you to my calender and didnt realize it till after the fact. I wish you would have called when I failed to arrive as I was most likely within 5 miles of your home but I understand when someone says they will be somewhere, they should be there. I assure you my appologetic phone call after the fact when I realized the goof was heartfelt and sincere. Our second meeting was cancelled due to a problem at an existing job. I appologize for this but wouldnt change my decision to cancel your appointment if given another chance. Things dont always go as planned on a job and when something does go wrong I NEED to stick around until the problem is fixed or the job is completed. Once again I have no employees to fix things for me, it is all on me. I wish I would have known your daughter was going out of her way to act as ASL interpreter, I could have eliminated the need for this and probably broadened your availability to meet. Our third meeting was scheduled a day after my return from our trip. Continental failed to get us to our connection and we had to camp out at Newark Airport over night and through the next day until they could accomodate our standby status. I assure you I would have much rather been talking to you about your projects than trying to entertain a 7 year old for a day and a 1/2 at the always friendly and accomodating Newark Airport. Although this was not much advance notice I did still manage to send a communication as soon as I was able to do so. Once again I am so sorry but this was out of my control. Upon my return I sent you my availabilty which was compromised by the fact that I had to accomodate several physicians/surgeon appointments to schedule an operation that will fix an injury I obtained while on vacation (whole different story). These appointments made me wish I was back at the Newark Airport! So to sum things up I am sincerely sorry for how things went for you this time around. Maybe the universal powers that BE just didnt want it to happen?? In any case I hope you are able to find a quality contractor to help you install your door and take care of your projects. Thanks for your time James Kerns

Hello member, Sorry about your experience. Like I mentioned in my voicemail to you, I am unaware of a scheduled bathroom remodel. I typically dont do bathroom remodels, I send them elsewhere. I did tell your wife I could do some work on your home relocating several doors. It was to be done before some house guests arrived at your house this past winter. I believed this would not be a problem but my schedule changed due to the scope of an existing job. I notified her immediately after determining that it might not work, knowing guests were expected. I assume she had someone else take care of the project as I never heard back from her. I do not have a crew or even an employee so I can only be one place at a time. I am really sorry this happened, it does not happen often but it has happened occassionally. I always give priority to the job that is in progress rather even if it means losing money!! Thanks for your response! James Kerns

Jamie consulted with me regarding installation of crown molding in our masterbedroom. He took the time to understand the circumstances surrounding this project and made valued suggestions. He seemed very competent and consequently we asked for an additional estimate to install crown molding surrounding the entertainment center. Both estimates were very reasonable. He researched the correct molding, ordered it and prepared it prior to the date of installation. The results are beautiful. We couldn't be happier with him and his work. Should also mention that he was always professional and responsive, was able to get to our work quickly, even went to some lengths to protect us from an accumulation of dust on our furniture and possessions and cleaned everything up ! We couldn't be happier with him, his work and the outcome. We are currently looking for new projects to involve him in !

I have a very old wooden house that had been neglected. I had some repairs that were not simple and required skilled craftsmanship. Jamie of Greener Rythms was able to accomplish the tasks. I needed the bottom of a triple pane wooden window (about 6' long) to be repaired. It entailed removing one pane, rebuilding the base and ledge of the whole window and putting the pane back in. I don't know how Jamie did it, but he did. I then have two doors each with a sliding glass top in it. Jamie had never seen any like them. However, he was able to make the repairs needed...making and inserting in a board that was missing on the inside, and then cutting a specific groove in the moulding so that the glass would slide up and down properly. I highly recommend Greener Rythms to anyone that needs a skilled craftsman (posing as a handyman). I also wish to point out that Jamie is so incredibly honest in his charges. A real treat in today's world. So, even if he is busy when you call, be patient, he is truly worth waiting for. Holly Segni. 8869 Los Coches Road. Lakeside, CA 92040.

I emailed Greener Rhythms in the evening and received an answer the next morning. Jamie gave me a time he could come over to look at the situation. He was right on schedule. He told me what needed to be done and what it would cost. He started the work exactly when he said he would. He kept in touch by email every evening that was necessary. He picked up frameless tub/shower glass sliding doors and did a very neat installation. I then asked if he could repair another patio door that wouldn't close properly. He did an excellent job on that too. A final note: I called Jamie (2 weeks after he completed my work) to tell him the same patio door he worked on I am very impressed with Jamie's integrity as well as his work.
Description of Work: Replaced a weathered and dry rotted threshold. Replacement lead to discovery of an area of dry rot on a door bottom. The dry rot area of the door was ingeniously repaired. Shaved/ planed another door that was sticking badly, reinstalled metal weather strip and touch all up with paint. Picked up from supplier and installed frameless tub/shower glass sliding doors.

Jamie did an excellent job! He scheduled the work within a couple of weeks, showed up right on time and got the job done exactly when promised. The frames he was hanging the doors in were no where close to square (1940s house) and he managed to trim the doors perfectly to fit the frames -- I was very impressed with his work. He was helpful and responsive throughout the process, and very easy to work with. I would highly recommend.

It went great! Jamie provided the best price for this custom job ($550 vs $800, $950 at two big bx stores, and $1100 from another independent contractor). His turn around time was also the best 3 weeks vs 8-10 weeks from the others mentioned above even though it was during the hollidays. Jamie also took a personal interest in this job and gave very good ideas that made this cabinet become even better. Without a question Jamie is my go-to-guy in all carpentry jobs and I wish he spreads his area of work into other areas. Overall, I couldn't have been more pleased and I highly recommend him.

Our experience with Greener Rhythms was excellent. The price was what we expected to pay for that type of a job. Jamie was very polite and professional. Where the new drywall for the closet connected to the existing drywall on the wall adjacent to the closet, Jamie made a nearly seamless connection. You have to look closely to tell that any work was done there. We were very pleased.
Description of Work: Jamie installed closet doors in one of my bedrooms where a previous owner had removed the original closet doors. The opening for the closet ran floor to ceiling, so the work included building the wall down to a more standard closet door height and then installing pre-fab doors from a hardware store (as opposed to custom closet doors).

I can't recommend Jamie highly enough. He was super nice, obviously talented and very fair and efficient. He was very honest in his phone estimate regarding his skills related to certain super complex items. But once he assessed them in person he was able to do all the items on the list. In fact, I sent him pictures in advance and he was able to buy most of the hardware and stuff before he came which was super efficient.

Project went well and on budget. Jamie was pleasant and easy to work with. He was good at solving problems and giving me options when I wasn't sure what would look better. The variety of window sizes and shapes was often a challenge, especially when many weren't square or level, but he dealt with them and I was very happy with the final results. The project went longer than expected, partly because I added the new door and overhang. He also did a good job cleaning up during the project and at the end. I would definitely recommend him and use him again for another project!
Description of Work: Jamie removed old cedar shingle siding from my 1920s house and replaced it with new lap siding and shingles. He removed narrow existing window trim and replaced it with wider, craftsman syle trim. He replaced the front door. He also designed and manufactured a wood/shingled overhang for the front door.

Really did an excellent job. I am planning to have the house re-stuccoed and the stucco man was delighted to note that he had notched the trim pieces around the screen door so that stuccoing would be easy to do and come out right. He was punctional and professional and very knowledgeable. Really a pleasure to do business with. I am planning for him to come out to do additional work when he has time in his schedule. Thank you so much for taking the time to post this report. I have been unusually busy the past couple weeks and can sense the disapointment in peoples voices when I tell them my availability. It is nice to know customers understand that I can not always be available right away. That is one of the challenges of being a one man business. Dont let this discourage anyone from calling me, my schedule is always changing and usually am available within the week! Peace!

Very good job. Rather than paint the doors in situ, he took the doors to his workshop where he had more control, painted and then returned and re-hung them. He is a cabinet maker at heart. The doors were shortened appropriately and hung perfectly. The mortise work was very well done. Painting was beautiful.
Description of Work: Remove, paint both sides, rehang three closet bi-fold doors ($210). Buy good paint, paint both sides of four interior bedroom and bath doors, install hardware on doors, mortise for new hinges (3 per door) on four doors, patch wood areas on door frames at old hinge locations ($580).
