I worked directly with A-team owner Jeff Raleigh. He was professional from the beginning. Jeff not only returned my call faster than any other contractor, but completed the estimate within 24 hours of visiting my house. Once on the job he and his crew were friendly, fast, and spared no detail. Jeff was on the job site at the start of every day to direct his crew. He was also responsive to all concerns that I had. As expected with any old home, we encountered some obstacles once the job had begun (old plumbing for example) but Jeff made it a point to minimize the cost of addressing these issues. What most impressed me was he appears to value his long-term reputation over any short-term profit, a highly unique characteristic in the ethically challenged construction industry. Overall, I highly recommend Jeff's A-team for any bathroom remodel and I will be using him for my future contractor needs.

Went great--great is a master at quality and design--if he suggests something it is a solid improvement. He was very detailed and ensured good quality foundational and finish work. He and his crew were very respoinsive and very accommodating. GIven the project and the scope a clear A overall. My wife really enjoyed working with his and his sense of style and getting things to match and work very elegantly. Unlike some contractors who tend to nickel and ime you for any changes or adds Jeff adjusted quickly and did threw in the little to medium things at no hassle or charge. B+ on price--while this was one of the best values around but B+ just because it was a small kitchen. He replaced a significant section of poor conditioned drywall that was unexpected without asking or adding. HIs suppliers and places to go to get the tile and things you need were great leads and each was great to work with. Only nits include perhaps keeping the job a bit cleaner, we had a comeback on an electric and door fit issue and had two returns on the plumbing--one leak and one clog--there again the work was quickly tended to and taken care of. Another very minor issue surfaced with noticing there was a small gap between cabinets and floor tiles that needed to be caulked to keep dirt and or liquids from getting in there. If you want work that is great looking, well done and built to last at a reasonable price, A-Team and Jeff are it
Description of Work: Complete kitchen renovation/rip out and new floors, cabinets, fixtures, plumbing etc. This was an old cheaply renovated (about 10 years) ago kitchen with OK plumbing, poor electrical work and glued tiling with poor to medium cabinets.

We contacted Jeff and explained to him that we wanted an estimated regarding placing drywall in the entrance to our home and our master bathroom. The walls in these areas had recently suffered some water damage as a result of a leak in our other bathroom that seeped into those walls. After the bathtub was fixed we contacted the A-Team Residential Remodeling after seeing the many great reviews on Angie's list. Jeff the owner sent over his Assistant David who reviewed the damage and gave us a reasonable estimate. Further, David gave us a time frame where he could complete the work, roughly around two days. He showed up on the date and time he stated and began working immediately. He worked until about 3:30 p.m. that day and returned the next day with another helper. All the work was completed by about 2:30 p.m. and I was very impressed at how well it came out. My husband called me from work to find out how everything looked and I told him it looked great. When he came home he reviewed the work and he too was impressed and satisfied with the results. He received a telephone call from Jeff a short time later and told him he was very happy with the job they did. I would highly recommend this company to anyone who is interested in remodeling or other related work they do.

I contacted Jeff regarding the removal of a load bearing wall in my home. (To create an open floor plan.) Jeff was very prompt to come out and review my project. (I find most contractors are very eager and willing to meet to review the scope of the project.). Jeff subsequently had one of his team members come out to review my project as well. His colleague was very prompt to review my project. I appreciated Jeff's due diligence. This gave him a better sense of what the project entailed thereby minimizing the risk of unpleasant surprises (and costs.) He also followed through on time with his quote. (This is where I find most contractors flake. They come out to look at your project sometimes spending several hours with me, but never follow through with the actual quote. I personally stop trying after the 3rd request - usually by phone.). Although Jeff's bid was not the cheapest, it was in line with the other quotes. Incidentally, the cheapest quote came from a contractor (also listed here on Angie's list) who neither checked my attic nor crawl space. Given foundation footings would be needed for this project I have no doubt I would have been hit with additional, unforeseen costs down the road. As with any major construction project unforeseen events can happen. Sometimes, contractors should know to ask certain questions that would at least give everyone involved a Heads Up that POTENTIAL problems are possible. Most times, no one knows until you actually start tearing or ripping things apart. To me, the bigger issue or concern is how the contractor deals with a problem. In my case, a portion of a gas line had to be changed and the wrong beam was delivered. In both instances Jeff was very prompt and forthcoming about the problems. The plumber for the gas line was able to come out the next day. That's an incredible response time. (I've had the same plumber for several years and sometimes I have to wait a couple of weeks depending upon the gravity of the situation.) Communication and following through are two of Jeff's greatest strengths, and they are exemplary. This is what sets him apart from other contractors. He takes time to explain the process, potential pitfalls and promptly keeps you apprised of what's going on and the time line for what WILL be going on. Anyone who has undertaken a major construction project out of the area knows the importance of this. Jeff is also very knowledgeable. He even found a couple of mistakes with my engineering plans. (The footers weren't to code and the beam was not supposed to be recessed into the attic.). He knows the various codes and has a keen sense of what the building inspectors are looking for. Overall, a stressless and pleasant (if you can believe that) experience. I have built a home on the East Coast (while living on the West Coast) and have undertaken a major home remodel that is a 2 hour drive away, so I am not new to construction projects. I only wish those projects had gone as smoothly as this. The project was only a couple of hundred dollars over due to the unforeseen gas line issue. And basically the project was on time. (A couple of days were lost because of the gas line and for the correct beam to be delivered.) Long story short: I would highly recommend Jeff and the A-Team in a heartbeat and greatly look forward to using them in the future.
Description of Work: Scope of Project: Removal of load bearing wall in house to create open floor plan. Approximate 20' beam with footers needed to support attic and roof. One of the main support walls in house.

Jeff is responsive, fair and his crew is timely and good. I have had several negative experiences with contractors in the past. Jeff was always available and he answered my calls quickly, he is a man of his word. We discussed the project and he had several good ideas and always looked for ways to help with the budget. He is very knowledgable about options in the area and guided me towards several lower cost alternatives saving me thousands. If he said he was going to look for something for the room as an alternative he did just that and I would get an email. His Plummer and electrician were both easy to work with and Jeff monitored them everyday,he did not abandon the job, he was always here checking with us to ensure we got what we wanted. We did have some changes and he was always fair with his pricing. I will use him in the future and he has restored my faith in contractors again.

Though I was torn between Jeff and another contractor for my remodel and ended up choosing the other one, I found Jeff to be the most responsive of the several I met with, and I'm sure the job would have turned out as well (or, in hindsight, probably better) with Jeff at the helm. Based on my meetings, phone calls and emails with him, he's a great communicator and does a good job presenting clear options for the work he's bidding on. He was willing to work with his team and subcontractors to fit my remodel into a tight timeframe, and I get the sense that he truly cares about his customers. Jeff will be first on my list to call for other remodel work in the future, and I highly recommend him to Angie's List members who are interviewing contractors for their own remodels.

From the very beginning Jeff was very professional and helpful. I was extremely happy with my experience and plan to hire him for any other jobs I have. Jeff was on time and prepared for the initial meeting; he took measurements, asked questions, made suggestions, and presented himself as someone who knew what he was talking about. He got me a detailed estimate very quickly and followed up to see if I had any questions or wanted to discuss any of the items he had detailed. I talked with quite a few contractors and settled on Jeff for a number of reasons; punctuality, honesty, personable, and professional. Although his estimate was not the lowest I received, I felt comfortable that he wouldn't upcharge me later. Throughout the project Jeff was available via phone, text, and e-mail. I work out of town so it was important to me that Jeff understood what I was looking for and communicated so well. I felt really comfortable letting Jeff make decisions when I wasn't able to be there to look at specific colors or dimensions. This was a really big project; when the walls were opened up we discovered that even the studs were rotten and needed to be replaced. Jeff redesigned the entire condo; he removed walls, added a laundry closet, opened up the kitchen, just about anything you can think of. Throughout the entire process Jeff was extremely helpful. He made suggestions regarding design ideas and colors, suggested places to get the best deals for granite, flooring, etc. We encountered a number of problems related to permits, plumbing, and wiring, and in each case Jeff gave me a written, detailed explanation of what needed to be done. He gave me his contractors price for many items rather than upcharging me, got all of the permits we needed, picked up flooring, tile, etc. I honestly could not be happier with both Jeff himself and the finished product. I highly recommend him and will definitely give his number to anyone I know who needs work done.

Jeff and his crew completed a remodel of a bathroom and we can?t say enough good things about A Team Remodeling. Jeff is a really easy contractor to work with. He communicates everything to you in a timely manner, he is really easy to reach and returns calls very quickly. He and his crew do a great job of explaining what they are doing and giving you good estimates for timing, etc. Everyone who worked on the job was polite and respectful, they were all just nice people who we felt totally comfortable about having in our house. Every afternoon when they left, they cleaned everything up and each evening we came home to a house that felt totally normal, not at all like a house in the middle of a construction project. During the job we ran into some problems that arose from fixtures and tile we had purchased that did not end up working with the new remodel. These were unforeseeable and they took us a couple of days to sort out. Jeff was very flexible about rearranging his crew?s schedule to accommodate these issues as they came up. One other thing that we ended up really appreciating about A-Team Remodeling was the aesthetic sense and attention to detail that everyone on the crew displayed. Jeff helped us avoid some subtle color mistakes and materials problems that were hard to anticipate based on what tile, grout and paint samples looked like and his crew drew our attention to color inconsistencies in our first tile choice. Jeff has clearly been doing this for a long time and his customers can safely rely on him to provide sound advice that comes from plenty of experience. He is focused on making sure his customers get a product they are happy with, and he will take the extra time and attention to make sure that happens. He is not expensive but he also is not dirt cheap, and he shouldn?t be, the quality of the work he does and the ease of working with him and his crew are worth the price he charges. He gave us a fair and accurate quote, carefully went over everything in the contract with us before we signed, and then did exactly what he said he was going to do. We were so happy with the results that we?ve already asked him for a quote some work in our kitchen.
Description of Work: Complete bathroom remodel. Removed bathtub, sink, and all fixtures. Stripped the walls down to the studs. Replaced an existing window with a new, smaller window. Installed a ceiling fan. Installed new tub and sink. Tiled walls around the tub up to the ceiling. Resurfaced the walls before painting. Installed new fixtures.

I thought that Jeff Raleigh was very nice and very professional. He said that he would send me an estimate via email which he did. I had already gotten an estimate from another contractor who I was referred to by a neighbor that I did not get off of Angie's List. The A-Team's estimate was higher and didn't include the shower doors, so I sent him an email thanking him for the estimate but telling him that his was higher than what I had received before and that I wouldn't be using his services. I couldn't imagine you giving somebody an estimate for a shower and not including a shower door in that. One has to have a door on the shower or at least a curtain or something. The other thing I didn't care for is that he did not itemize the price list. He listed the work should be done and then he put a total, but he did not put a price next to each listing of what was to be done. If I use them again in the future for another job I would tell them when you give me the estimate I want you to list the cost of each thing you put on there. I would just instruct them how I want my estimate to go.
Description of Work: Jeff Raleigh with A-Team Residential Remodeling came out and gave me an estimate for tearing down an old shower and putting a new one in. The estimate was for $5,500 not including the shower door which I thought was strange.

I must first confess that I am a retired physician who is perfectionist and a type A personality. I expect professionalism, on time daily work, attention to keeping my home clean and undamaged while working, and good communication by email or telephone. I understand that contractors often have two jobs or more going on, but I expect the main contractor to be at the site daily to evaluate and supervise the workers and answer questions/make changes or suggestions. When I first contacted Jeff by phone, he quickly returned my phone call and arranged a timely visit to evaluate our needs and project. He was always highly professional, on time, and fair and accurate in his bid. Our agreed upon terms for each bathroom were clearly spelled out in a contract and were clearly updated and fairly changed regarding costs subtracted or added. Jeff and his talented crew arrived and worked every day like clockwork. I especially appreciated his attention to keeping our home and carpet protected with ram board and a careful attitude while working. At every junction of the project Jeff had great ideas and advice as we worked our way through routine as well as difficult issues as they would arise. I truly appreciated his calm and level headed approach to each "problem" that we encountered. The work done was always excellent in quality and all subs used were great and supervised by Jeff. His crew of two helpers did an outstanding job in demolition, remodeling, tiling, painting, as well as daily clean up in our home. Jeff was present every day both working and supervising the crew. I always felt he was very involved in both our bathroom remodels and gave us his undivided attention both at the site and when I called which was often. His attention to detail and truly caring about the customer's needs was outstanding! I can without reservation STRONGLY RECOMMEND Jeff and the A Team for any remodeling job. His work was outstanding and his professional approach to the project and customer is second to none. I would definitely use him again if a need would arise for remodeling or a home repair project. I have had many subpar contractors work on my home in the past and it is a pleasure to say that any homeowner who hires the A Team and Jeff will be very satisfied and happy with their results.
Description of Work: The A Team evaluated extensive water damage in our master bathroom. They then completely demolished the entire tile, floor, and water damaged walls. They replaced damaged wood and treated the remaining wood to prevent mold. The entire master bathroom was completely treated for mold and then new drywall, plumbing, and custom tile was added. They added new lights and fan and rewired all electrical areas as need. The master shower was completely redone to our custom desires with new drains, hot mopping, painting, tiling, and custom plumbing fixtures. The toilet was replaced and all tile was sealed. The separate sink area was prepared for granite and new lights were added as well as a new window plus trim. In our master bedroom a new light was added and the entire bedroom was painted. Our guest bathroom was completely redone with complete demolition of the Jacuzzi bath, shower, and tile. A new window, lights, and fan were added and rewired to our switches. A new larger Jacuzzi tube was installed and custom tiled. Extensive custom tiling was done in the bathroom which included the walls and floor. The adjacent wall where there was water damage was opened up and treated and then dry walled. All walls and the ceiling were then repaired, textured, and painted and all tile was sealed. Custom plumbing fixtures were installed and new toilet was added.

The A-team arrived for the estimate in a very timely manner. Jeff Raleigh clearly understood the complex job that I was requesting and provided several recommendations for enhancements and options. After I accepted the estimate the A team started the job when they said they would and finished right on time and on budget, in spite of several complicating factors found during the demo. After the job was completed my new bathrrom looks great and works great! I will definitely use A team again!

I had unpermitted work that I was told by a "contractor" that did not need to be permitted. I later found out it had to be permitted and needed a licensed contactor to complete the work to CA code. Jeff inspected the work and told me what changnages needed to be made (total tear out) to make the work pass CA code. I am having Jeff (A team) redo a much needed remodel of my kitchen next and I trust from past experience that the work will exceed my expectations. Thanks
Description of Work: I had unpermitted, unsafe work taken down and had a new deck made of redwood built to code. Jeff also installed a new fence and gate that matched my craftsman style home . He finished it to protect the wood, cleaned the front and back yard of all construction debris and removed and replaced an unsafe sidewalk that was a financial liability that I was unaware of at the time. All of the work and suggestions Jeff made exceeded my expectation once again, I can not recommend this company enough.
Jeff came by our house for an estimate. He was friendly and likable and the price was reasonable so we decided to go with him for our remodel. The remodel process was way less difficult than I had imagined. Jeff really knew his stuff and took care of everything. He even went to the home depot with us to buy all the fixtures/tile/etc we would need for the remodel. Things to note:-Jeff does an a great job. He pays attention to the details which is extremely important. -Jeff is on time -He was friendly to my dog and him and his team never let her out of the house (thanks!!) -Jeff is clear regarding timing and awesome at communicating. He kept us up to date if there were unforeseen obstacles when remodeling. -Jeff stays within his estimate -Jeff's team is awesome. They were trustworthy and very nice people. We are excited to have Jeff remodel our master bathroom/master walk in closet in a few weeks :)
Description of Work: Jeff and his team completely remodeled our guest bathroom and put up dry wall and recessed lights in a large portion of our house that was wood paneling and ceiling panels.Him and his team completely demo'ed the bathroom did drywall, tub installation, all tile (floor and bath), installed all light fixtures and plumbing fixtures

Overall, this was was a very good experience. Jeff was the 4th quote we requested and came in the lowest, which is what set him apart from the runner up. That being said he was light years ahead of 3rd and 4th place. We met with him the first time on a weekend- which was fantastic since my fiance and I both work longer hours. Jeff was friendly and energetic, yet professional. As we walked through some ideas we had for the remodel I felt he was attentive and listened to what my idea was and then explained any issues that might arise as well as give ideas for what might make it more practical or less expensive. One example, our vanity area has two doors but only one light switch. We had asked about adding a switch to near the other door. He explained the easy part of it is the dry wall, but we may encounter difficulties going through the ceiling with our radiant heating. It was nice to know about potential "extra costs" ahead of time. He was very cost conscious. I appreciated his ability to foresee issues. He understood that we had a needs list and a wish list and was willing to listen to all of our ideas and add his own. He also was carrying his ipad and could show us some pictures of ideas he had for the space from projects he had recently done. Also he was very aware of basic material costs and could give good guesstimates on what to expect. For me, what I really appreciated most during the quote was that he gets resale value. There were multiple times that he brought up an easy way to increase value on our home for not much money. It was nice that he had that perspective. We decided to hire Jeff and the A-team after we received the quote within two days like he had said. We were also lucky enough that he was able to squeeze us between two projects he already had. A week after our quote we met to go to Home Depot for materials that my fiance and I had already picked out. This was nice as he was able to transport it to the house for us and able to help us pick a tub. That part was intimidating for me for some reason. He told us he would start at 7 am Thursday of that week. When he says 7 he isn't kidding. Jeff and his team were there by 6:55 ready to roll. In hearing his communication with his team Jeff seemed very specific about what and how he wanted things done if there was any questions. I never felt uncomfortable with any of his team there as my family and I were getting ready for work. They were somewhat jubilant at that hour and always professional. I am very happy with the work they did, specifically the floor tile. The tile we chose all had very different pieces but they managed to lay them beautifully on the floor. It's better than I could've ever imagined. I also am very pleased with some last minute changes we made on the shower tiles to include a second cigar roll encasing a small tile mosaic strip. Any issues that arose or suggestions made mid project were instantly and well communicated by Jeff with an accurate price quote. And they were all good suggestions. The project was completed right on schedule. The ONLY issue we had was the box that dictates hot and cold on the shower was put in upside down. He came out and corrected it. Not a big deal- I honestly didn't care but he kept following up to see when would be a good time for him to come out (It took a couple weeks because of my inavailability- not his). They kept the area as possible and did a great job cleaning up once done (this is saying a lot as I am neurotic about cleanliness). They also threw in for free the repainting of the three doors. One of them I know was a total pain (had to strip old paint that was peeling away) and probably was a lot more of a project than they'd bargained for. It was a nice touch to know that those projects we were planning to do ourselves were already done. I would definitely hire Jeff and his team again. Jeff is an excellent communicator, very personable, and I am very happy with the tile work that they did.
Description of Work: Fix existing toilet leak, remove shower and retile/new tub, raise shower head, remove carpet in vanity area, replace whole bathroom with tile, paint toilet area and around new tile.

Jeff and his A-team were fantastic. Not only did they do EVERYTHING they said they were going to do, they did it correctly the first time and didn?t cut corners. I interviewed multiple contractors from Angie?s list, all with good reviews, and not only was the A-team?s bid competitive, they were more responsive and a pleasure to deal with. When there were changes in the middle of construction, Jeff handled it and got it done no questions. I would recommend these guys to anyone looking to do any type of residential remodel. Impressed and happy on all levels with this A-team.
Description of Work: I had the A-team build me an 11 ft. x 15ft wall with three picture frame windows at the top and install a pre-hung single window frosted glass door. The new wall was built with electrical outlets, switches, and hidden speaker, CAT5 and HDMI cables. They also installed two new ceiling fans, a ceiling light, and demo’ed the tile in my bathroom and kitchen ready for the flooring contractor.

Patience, patience, patience....That is what Jeff from A-Team has. I asked Jeff and his crew to make me something so custom that it was impossible for me to even find a picture of what I wanted. He took my idea and was able to sketch out a basic idea and then create a masterpiece for me.
Description of Work: I asked Jeff from A-Team remodeling to build me a very large and complex piece of custom furniture. After spending time with me and asking lots of detailed questions Jeff and his crew built me exactly what I was looking for. I was rather nervous as I had never seen anything like what I was asking them to make me. In the end my blind faith in these guys paid off in spades! I could not be happier, I will use these guys whenever I have a project in the future.

We found Jeff and his company on Angie's List. After talking to two other contractors we knew we could work with Jeff. He responded quickly to our inquiry providing us with an estimate and the answers to our many questions and concerns. He was very professional as was his entire crew. Jeff came up with some great ideas for the remodel as he problem solved the many issues that arose in our 1927 home. We appreciated his openness to our suggestions and his willingness to tweak our plan as it progressed. Jeff called this his "game time decision" approach. It allowed us to make better informed decisions. We were very pleased with the results of our remodel. The bathrooms are beautiful. Jeff made the whole process go smoothly. We look forward to working with him in a couple months on a porch redo. We highly recommend Jeff and his team.

I hired him through a referral though a friend and he lived up to every one of my expectations. Completed work on time and was well within my budget. I had three other contractors come out, two never returned my call and the other was almost twice as much as Jeff. I have never had a job completed to such satisfaction where I would recommend someone. But I would recommend Jeff to anyone who wants the job done right.
Description of Work: Removed a window in my dining room and installed a set of french door in my Craftsman home. Repaired drywall, trim, flooring and painted three rooms in my home. All work fit in the Craftsman style. Updated some old electrical and repaired a leaky roof.

We have been very pleased with the work of this contractor, Jeff. He was always prompt and cleaned up the work spaces. His workmanship is very professional and customer service before and after the job exceeded our expecations. He was very prompt in getting the estimates and keeping us within our budget, we did not have any unexpected charges after the job was completed with Jeff. We would recommend him very highly for any home improvment projects.

Thank you for the review It's greatly appreciated Jeff
From beginning to end Jeff was very professional and patient. Even when I had trouble making decision. He was the only contractor that I met with that recommended bringing in a structural engineer to look at my wall. The rest wouldn't even consider taking the wall out but never even looked in the attic to check it. The wall was not even load bearing! The project went really smooth and he called all the time to keep me updated. Everything came out great, I love it!
Description of Work: wall removal, recessed lighting, interior paint, electrical for a wall mounted tv, mounted the tv, installed a microwave above my stove, and put in a new tile floor in the kitchen
