Description of Work: I e-mailed House Painting and never heard from them. days later I called them, and the operator told me that an estimator will meet me at the property at 11:00am but did not show up on day of appointment or any decency to call me that the guy who will give an estimate cannot make it . Waited all day. Bad business practice. .

Description of Work: James came out and provided estimate promptly and professionally. His office made phone calls to follow up. Andrew and his team arrived early each day and worked all day. They completed the job, exterior painting around the trims, stucco, power wash, patching and etc., in 3 1/2 days. The quality of work is very good. Andrew takes pride in his work I would definitely use this company again, and especially request Andrew.

Description of Work: James came out the same day i called him. He was very punctual and professional. He looked at my damaged balcony and advised me that painting over the cracked wood was not the best way of fixing it. He told me that i needed to find a professional deck repair company to replace the rotted wood and do the decking from scratch. There was nothing he could do for me and suggested to help me find a deck person. James was very nice and did not waste my money on useless paint job that would not fix my problem. I was very impressed by him and will definitely recommend his services.

Description of Work: I hired House Painting Inc. to paint all but 2 rooms in my 1200 sq ft, 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house. There was alot of prep work to do since some areas had not been painted in about 15 years and the house is older (built in 1940). The two painters did a very thorough job sanding, scraping, patching and cleaning surfaces. They forgot to mask off a few areas before sanding but overall were very careful. They did 2 coats of paint - brushing, rolling and spraying where necessary. The kitchen cabinet doors had already been removed so it made sense to set them up in the back yard and spray them. My plan called for four different colors and 3 different sheens so I was concerned that they would have a difficult time figuring out the color scheme but they had no problem keeping it all straight. They wanted to use oil based paint on the trim because they felt they would get a smoother finish but they went along with my request to only use No-VOC paint from Benjamin Moore. This was an added cost since it was not one of the brands from their list but it was worth it to me. When the job was done, no paint fumes!! Overall I am very satisfied with the quality of their painting and with the clean-up and I would recommend them.

Description of Work: Called James Lee for an estimate on interior painting. He came on time but was somewhat aggressive about what he does and does not do - e.g., no woodwork, no stucco, no taking down acoustic ceilings. My impression was that he wants easy jobs in empty houses. My house was built in 1927 and desperately needs ceilings fixed, walls scraped and smoothed down and there is a lot of clutter in the house. When I did not hear from him for 3 days, I emailed requesting an estimate. He called back immediately and said he'd prefer not to do any work for me. He's a bit full of himself. As for Angie's List's 81 positive reviews - I think any evaluation system can be "gamed" to show only positive reviews.

Description of Work: I chose to call House Painting Inc. from its glowing reviews on Angie's List. Even though I'm way out in Manhattan Beach and they are located in Glendale. I arranged for 4 PM appointment the day before. But that afternoon was asked to rearrange my schedule so he could arrive at 2 instead. Mr. Lee showed up 35 min late. Saw my house and must have concluded I was rich, stupid or both as I was eventually faxed a proposal for SIX TIMES the average cost of two prior estimates. I talked to his office and confirmed this was no typo. Anyway, a colossal waste of my time and an example of the hubris that sometimes occurs when someone gets a good reputation in a database. Probably a decent painter, but he probably charges what he thinks the market will bear.
