All of the services have been performed well.
Description of Work: Regular pool service on a weekly basis. I have also needed to have a leak in my pool system repaired and they recommended another firm that specializes in that kind of work and it turned out very well. Living Water also recommended an automated pool cleaner that they sold me and installed for me. It keeps my pool very clean between the weekly service visits by the Living Water technician.

I filled out a contact request via their website and Wendy called me within an hour and when I wasn't able to call her back. She was very nice and called me again and asked me questions and then told me Caleb would be calling me back. Within a few hours Caleb called me back and was very accommodating and told me he would be available to come by the next day. When he arrived on time :) It went very well. He was super nice, very informative and answered all of my questions and concerns.
Description of Work: He came out and looked at our pool and gave me an estimate on pool maintenance and asked for a quote to do repairs later in the year.

We began using Living Water about 6 months ago. I was very impressed with them from the beginning and we remain very happy customers. My husband had been servicing our pool for the past 12 years. It was generally clean, but it was a daily pain, plus every now and then we would have algae problems - and he detested having to deal with that. But the biggest problem was that I couldn?t swim in the pool. The chemicals were just too harsh and it really irritated my skin. I just figured I was hyper sensitive to chlorine. However, after only a few weeks of service from Caleb and Sami, I COULD SWIM IN MY OWN POOL AGAIN! They worked really hard at the outset to get the pool chemicals into balance. I have been extremely pleased with their attention to service. Caleb is great and Sami always comes with a smile on his face and is the sweetest gentleman! When we totaled the cost we were spending on chlorine and chemicals, it was not that much more to have Living Water come and take care of everything. Now, my husband just scoops out the leaves once a day and our pool stays beautiful, clean and algae free. But the best part is that I can swim in it. I really didn?t know how much the chemical balance effected the pool - and my skin. Thank you, Caleb and Sami - for such spectacular service!
Description of Work: Weekly maintenance of our swimming pool. Cost is $130 a month. Plus a couple of $90 costs per year for cleaning and conditioning.

amazing service. company offered to repair old pentair heater but i choose to replace as it was super old and kept breaking down. The installed next day !! got my pool back and running in under 24 hours. I had an issue with a service light on the new heater 10 days later - they responded in person - again within 24 hours to diagnose just a dirty filter elsewhere in the system - no charge honestly i couldn't recommend them more highly - makes a change to find a professional service company who are so diligent. alex, hollywood hills

Caleb came to my home and inspected the situation. I had bought the wrong heater and pump for my situation unaware that salt water pools need a cooper-nickel heat exchanger in the heater to handle the salt water. My first heater was NOT made with cooper nickel and it lasted only 4 years! Rather than doing the job with what I had, which he could have done, he explained that the heater would fail again in a few short years and recommended I exchange it for the better cooper-nickel heater and also exchange the pump I bought for a variable speed pump to save money on electricity and clean the pool better. I did as he recommended and in 4 days he and a assistant came to my home and in 6 hours not only replaced both units but added the back flow stop for free and shortened the gas line and PVC water in/out plumbing by several feet. They replaced 90 degree angles with soft angles to improve flow and efficiency. I have to say Im impressed and learned a lot about pools in the process. They cleaned up their mess and were were very nice people.
Description of Work: Repaired pipes and replaced broken pool heater and pump. Installed back-flow stop value to remedy chlorine back flow into heat exchanger.

I was about ready to pull the trigger on getting a new pool heater but gave trying to repair the existing heater one more time. Other service companies came out and fiddled with the heater and then pronounced that I needed a new one because the parts weren't available. However, Living Water Pool Service came out and spent one hour +, cleaning out the various part of the existing heater and it worked!! This saved me nearly $3,000. While a new one will be needed eventually, of course, not having to shell out $3,000 right now was fantastic! What a result!

On Tuesday, I was still feeling ill. My husband & I met with Fritz. He retested all the chemistry in front of us & showed us that the PH, chlorine, salt & other chemicals were all within range. We asked if the pool should be drained. He said that might be a possibility but he would leave it as a last resort due to the drought we are having. It was then that he found out that our 12-year old pool had never been drained, and we found out that it was supposed to be drained every 4-5 years! We have had professional pool maintenance companies ever since we installed our pool 12 years ago and NONE of them ever recommended draining the pool or explained why it was so important, especially for salt water pools. We had not grown up with pools, so we never knew about this. I would have expected the professionals to know and to take care of EVERY aspect of our pool maintenance. Fritz was the first one who sent out an annual mailing with his bill recommending draining the pool if it hadn't been done in a while, (which we had previously decided not to do because of the drought. We now know that was a mistake.) Fritz asked permission to swim in our pool the following day, which we granted, and in the meantime was going to send a water sample out for particulate testing from an outside lab. He swam for 15-20 minutes and told us that his eyes were burning when he got out. He also said that he was nauseous that evening and couldn't even eat his dinner. Remember, we had swum for TWO AND A HALF HOURS! No wonder we were feeling so sick! Then the test results came back. He explained that normal Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) for tap water was around 500. Our pool's test results were at 5000 ? 10 times the normal limit! Fritz and his crew went into overdrive. They came and shocked the pool to remove the chlorine (required by the city), then drained it and acid washed it. They checked the pumps, cleaned out all the parts that can be cleaned, and refilled the pool. It now has chlorine in it just to keep it from growing algae until the plaster has cured, then he'll put the salt back in and it should be good as new. I can't express enough how much care and concern Fritz expressed over the condition of our pool, our health and safety, and getting the pool back in shape. He kept calling and texting us to give us updates, and seemed genuinely excited when the pool was refilled and functioning again. Now we know a little bit more about how to maintain a salt-water pool, and we know not to question the recommendations of Fritz and his staff. (I do, however, have some strong opinions of our previous pool cleaners! Let me know if you want to know who to avoid!) PS - If you live in Southern California and have to drain your pool, be sure to check with your city's Public Works department to find out if it's allowed (due to drought) and if there are any permits required.
Description of Work: Last month, my son & I swam in our salt-water pool for the 1st time this season. After 2-1/2 hrs of swimming, both of us were having severe reactions: burning eyes, tearing, running noses, etc. We continued to have burning into the evening. While my son started feeling better the next day, I continued to have problems with my eyes and felt generally ill and "not normal" for the next 5 days. I knew that Fritz had cleaned the pool the prev. Thursday, so I called him immediately. He responded quickly, apologizing for our experience, but confused because the chemicals had all tested within normal limits. But he promised to come out as soon as possible to re-check everything.

So far so good both the technician Caleb and my new pool man are very good. I feel Caleb knows a good deal about getting stuff fixed if broken and communicates well with my new pool man.My new pool man seems observant and found a broken o-ring on a leaf basket which he replaced. I had the option to buy chlorine tablets which I provided plus another chemical called Phosfree.I let them provide the liquid chlorine which I was charged for 4 gallons which I keep in the pool house. I don't have much to say as I will update this post in about 6 months to see if the quality remains. Over 12 years I have gone through a dozen pool people who start out great get lazy and flake out. I'm hoping Living water pool service remains as good as they have been so far I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Description of Work: Fritz at Living Water is great. He came over as our pool was being finished and advised us on the best equipment, as he has been in the business a long time and knows his stuff. They did the initial pool start up, which I believe cost between $400 - $500. They have been servicing the pool weekly ever since. The monthly bill for weekly service is $95.

They were fine. They did a good job. We were satisfied with the work. We paid what they asked. The estimate they gave was correct. I don't know how they compare to other people because I didn't price a lot of other people, but I think they had a fair price. I liked the job. As far as I was concerned they did what they said they were going to do and it was what I expected. I'm happy with them and I would call them again.

April went fine THEN I received my May bill & there will all these additional charges since they said I needed a filter change and a phosphate treatment. Since I was told upon sign up that everything was included unless I was told differently, I understood that I would not see additional charges on my bill. That didn't happen. My bill for May was $235 Instead of $85.00. I was supposed to be at a rate of $85 month including all chemicals ( conditioner was also included as well as filter changes throughout the year as needed as I was quoted. My previous pool service that I switched from also included these things but was cheaper at $70 month including all chemicals, conditioner & filter changes. So why would I switch if I wasn't told that they were included upon sign up? That free month they were offering after 12 months of service made up for the price increase from my last pool service from $70 to $85 a month. All I want is a professional, reliable, pool service with no hassles & to tell me if they are going to charge me extra for something AHEAD of time! Is that too much to Ask for? Apparently. You actually can't legally put something in your pool under the premise that it is included in your monthly service and then surprise the customer with charges when you never told them an an additional price when you performed the additional service. It's not ethical or legal and I certainly do not have to pay for it.
Description of Work: They took over the monthly pool service for LA Pool Service. I was sent a letter stating that the new ownership would honor the agreements made by the previous owner, which meant I would stay at my current rate of $85 month including all chemicals , conditioner & filter backwash/changes as needed with no additional charges. Except for parts. My service with LA Pool service started in Mid April when they sold to LIVING WATER POOL SERVICE in late April. They didn't tell me they were selling but offered a free 12th month of pool service if I kept my credit card on file. So I kept my credit card on file with LA pool service which entitled me to a free month of pool service on my 12th month, which they advertised, and LIVING WATER should now honor even though they do not keep my credit card on file still.

Response from Living Water Pool Service
We are very sorry that you were disappointed with our pool service. Based on your comments, it appears that there was a huge miscommunication. When we took over for John at LA Pool Service, he did not inform us that you were paying a set rate of $85 which included monthly service, chemicals, conditioner and filter service. In fact, he communicated to us that "all" of his clients paid a set service rate PLUS chemicals, filter service and conditioner (unless the client provided their own chemicals). He also never mentioned anything about the free month of service for clients who had their credit card on file. We greatly apologize for the mix up and we can definitely understand why you feel so frustrated by the service we provided. We believe strongly in communicating with our clients and wish we could have had the opportunity to do that with you, because given the information we now know, we most certainly would have honored the agreement that you had made with LA Pool Service. We only charged you those "extra" fees, based on the numbers that John had passed along to us. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced and wish you all the best with your swimming pool. Please feel free to contact us if there are any other issues you would like to address.

When I first called Living Waters, I was extremely happy with the quick response time. I explained the issues we've been having with our pool & spa heater, and that we were looking for a new weekly service. Fritz Brown came out the next day. He was cheerful and knowledgable, but also quick to admit that he didn't have all the answers, but worked with someone who had more experience with our specific problems. We had been having these issues for several years and our previous pool service had "repaired" the problems numerous times. But Fritz and his associate (Tony?) fixed the problem within a week and it's been working perfectly ever since. The price was reasonable and I felt like I was in really good hands. We hired him on the spot to do our weekly pool service and had been very happy with him. In addition to his professionalism and years of experience, he was also very personable and friendly. I'm a little concerned now after learning that Fritz is having medical problems and our service is being handled by a new person named Chris. I met Chris briefly a couple of weeks ago. He's very young and did not seem as cheerful and friendly as Fritz, but if he does a good, professional job, I'm fine with that. However, there were a couple of things that I noticed that seemed like common sense that escaped Chris. One was that there are signs posted on our street stating that there is no parking allowed on our side of the street. You have to either park across the street or in our driveway. Sometimes it's hard to see the signs, but they are there. Chris had parked in front of our house, so I told him it was okay to park in the driveway whenever there is an empty space. The second thing was a little more concerning, and that was that he left our gate ajar even though our dog roams free in the backyard and we specifically pointed out that the latch must be securely fastened when we first hired Fritz. He was always good about making sure the gate was latched. I don't know if that instruction was not passed on to Chris or that Chris just wasn't careful to make sure the gate was properly latched. Our dog will bolt if she finds the opportunity and is not a good listener when commanded to return. Luckily, she was a little slow to realize that the gate was still open. If she had gotten out and I was not home, I hope that Chris would have taken the time to find her and bring her home, but I warned him that that could sometimes take quite awhile and he could potentially miss his next appointment. Like I said, just some general awareness and common sense. I haven't checked the pool carefully lately, so I am assuming that Chris is doing an okay job with the service, but I hope that Fritz recovers soon and is able to come back to us.
Description of Work: The heater for our pool and spa were not working properly and had not been appropriately or timely repaired by our previous pool service. In addition to repairing the problem, we were also looking for a new pool service to replace our former one.

First impression was very good. Emails were quickly replied to and phone calls answered right away. Mike was prompt when arriving for the estimate. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I wanted the swimming pool repainted and also valves replaced in the swimming pool pump supply line. He explained all of my options and was not pushy in any way. I received the estimate the next day. While the estimate was not the lowest, Mike's professionalism made me go with his company. That was the last time I saw him. The job was to be a three day event. Day one was to prep and primer the pool surface. Day two to replace the valves and the third day to paint the pool surface with Epoxy paint. It turned out to only take two days. For the first day I was given a two hour window for them to show up. Two workers did show up within the time specified and began work. Everything went fine the first day. They preped the pool and also replaced the valves. As they were leaving, I asked when they would be back. Could not get a concrete answer and was a little worried. But they did show up the next day and painted the pool. It was Epoxy Paint so once the area was painted, that was it. No touching for a week until it cured. When they were finished, I asked when would they return. The pool light, ladder and drain cover had to be put back as well as the pair of sunglasses left at the bottom had to be retrieved. And yes the glasses did remove the paint from the area they had been resting. They said I would be called and not to fill the pool for a week until the paint fully cured. They also said that the cover, light and ladder could be put back in 3 days. I waited but never got a call about there return date. I called them and set up the time. I also noticed there were lots of panted over bits of debris sticking out all over the place. I was also very disappointed with the steps. There was a tile inlay design on the steps. I was told from the start that they would have to grind that and paint over it. However, I did think that it would be ground down and painted in a way that you could not see the design. This was not the case. Now it looks like a cheap quick job painting over clearly visible tile. It also turns out that they replaced the wrong valve on the pump. Did not figure this out until after the week I waited for the paint to cure and the day in a half to fill it. They did respond quickly to this when I called. Had someone out in less than two hours and got it right. Would have been nice if Mike had returned to check on these guys.

We just finished replastering our pool. We didn't have a pool service and didn't know of anyone. We resorted to the Angie's List providers and found Living Water Pool Service in LaCanada that serviced our area. Fritz, the owner, fully explained the process for the start up on the new pool. He personally came out on the weekend to do the work. He did such a good job that we contracted with his team to maintain the pool each month. We are very happy with the service. His staff is very conscientous and thorough. We have a clean sparkling blue. Living Water Pool Service of LaCanada provides quality work and we highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Living Water Pool Service provided start up services for us after we completed the replastering of our pool. They came out on 4 consecutive days to clean the plaster residue and add the appropriate chemicals as needed. They explained the 4 day process and asked us to allow for 10 day curing of the plaster before using. They were very thorough and schedule time for each visit.

The base price is good but the chemicals I am not sure about that. I think I will use them again but I do have a few more questions.
Description of Work: I got a quote on some pool service from them last week. They quoted me $120.00 off season and $200.00 for season plus chemicals.

I had a pool full of leaves and branches from the BIG storm. We don't have regular pool service so I used Angies list to call around to get someone as soon as possible as it looked really bad. Living Water managed to squeeze me in and came out the same day I called, cleaned all out all the leaves and branches put in chemicals and gave me advise on what to do next to ensure the water filter through properly and get clean. Quick, efficient and professional service and me super happy!
Description of Work: A thorough clean out of the pool after the BIG storm from leaves branches and debris as well as put in chemicals.
