Thomas Lincoln is the owner of the company. I had one of the worst experiences of my life with him. It was awful. My first mistake was that I had allowed him to do work in the yard before I had moved in. I had bought the house and was getting it remodeled. He was working on the yard. I paid him about $6,000 for cleaning and pruning. The contract said that the amount was to remove dead trees and shrubs, to trim the trees, to cut shrubs back, to trim trees and shrubs off the property, to haul away the debris; to repair the existing irrigation system; etc. He also installed a sprinkler system, which was part of the money. He did some work on the deck as part of the cost. However, I had a backyard resembling a forest; I had bought the house for the same reason. It had about 60-70 trees in it. The trees were amazing. When he was done with the yard, it only had about 10 trees left in it. He had pulled all the remaining trees down. He told me that the trees did not look that good and so, he had taken them down. He told me that the trees were not in good shape and that they needed to be replaced. The replacement was, obviously, not free of charge. He did not even ask me before taking the trees down. When I had seen some pictures earlier, it had him trimming the trees. I do not know what happened later. There was a guy staying at the house at the time, who kept an eye on everything that was going on. He told me that all of sudden the trees had started disappearing. I had a lawyer look at the contract and he told me that I had given Tom wide latitude. So, I did not have stand for a suit. He told me that I should have written down the limitations and what I wanted Tom to do and asked him to sign it. I was so devastated; it felt like losing a part of the family. The yard, which was so gorgeous before, is now like a desert. There are only a few trees left in it. Tom, then, gave me a bid of roughly $48,000 to redo the yard. First, he destroyed the yard and then, he gave me a bid to redo it. To me, it was a complete scam. I felt like I was completely conned by the guy. I do not remember feeling so angry and devastated with the fact that he had gotten away with the damage done by him and that I had paid him to do it. I was overwhelmed with anguish with what he had done to my yard. When I talked to him, he saw that I was really upset, but he was not empathetic at all. Also, he wanted a final payment before the work that he was contracted to do was completed. He had only done about half of the deck work. Fortunately, I had somebody go over to look and see if he had done the work or not, which he had not. I think, since I was not around, he assumed that I would not know what work was done. I told him that I would not pay him until he had finished the work. I paid the entire contract amount (as it was written) as I did not feel like taking legal action; I was not confident if I would get anywhere with it anyway. I got another person to redo the yard, who is currently doing a great job. I am so sorry that I ever hired Tom.
