I own a town home in the South Bay, at the beach. My copper pipes developed pin-hole leaks. Re-piping is a specialty all of its own and I knew I wanted to use a company who specializes in re-piping. After much homework I decided on Repipe 1. They were one of the very few companies actually fully licensed, bonded and insured. As part of an HOA it is extremely important that the company we allow onto our property have the proper insurance and credentials to best protect ourselves and our neighbors. After meeting and talking with Jim, who I found to be extremely knowledgable, he assigned the re-pipe work needed in my home to TEAM JULIO. Julio is just fabulous at his trade, very kind, and did a knock out job. Julio and his team not only had to work in my unit but in the subterranean garage where there is plenty of cement and pipes leading from my unit to planter boxes. I didn't even know these pipes existed. This was NOT a small job. The service was professional from start to finish, from Jim and Dan, to Julio and his team, to Tina, and to Sam in accounting. As we know finding and hiring the right company is not easy and in some cases can be a nightmare. Repipe 1, however, did the job, did it well, and I am so thankful I wanted to share my thoughts with you (though it took me some time due to my busy schedule).

This is the story of the good, the bad and the ugly. The good was that the price was fair and the plumbers were on time and worked their tails off to install the pex piping and turn my water back on all in one day. The bad starts the fact that before I had agreed to have the work performed I had met with the estimator on Monday the 15th of October and he assured me that they could start work the following day and that all plumbing and dry wall repair would be completed by Friday. I told him this was imperative since my daughter had just gotten married and on their return from their honeymoon we were hosting a big party at our house that Saturday. After agreeing to the terms of the contract the estimator whose name was Jim later informed me that the soonest the plumbers could come out was Wednesday but that everything would be done by Friday. After the work was completed that Wednesday evening I received a call from Tina in the front office and she informed me that the drywall repair man would not be out until Friday. Now comes the ugly. The drywall repair man (Juan) came on time and worked until about 2:00 that afternoon at which point he said he was going home "to beat the traffic on the freeway" but he would be back on Monday to finish everything up. So we had our party with a house that looked like hurricane Sandy had made a surprise visit. On Monday Juan returned and finished up what he had started. The problem is that after he had left my wife and I looke at the quality of his repairs and determined that they were simply horrible. You could tell where virtually every patch was made and the texture coat that he applied looke more like splotches than true texture. On top of that Juan didn't even clean up after himself. I called Tina at the front office and told her I wanted somone different to come out and fix the mess that was made by Juan but she told me that they would be sending Juan back out again along with his supervisor to make sure he did the job right. I reluctantly agreed and on Wednesday the door bell rang and there was Juan but no supervisor. Juan said he didn't know about his supervisor being there so I proceeded ot let Juan know that I was extremely unhappy with his work and if he couldn't do better then to leave now. He was appologetic and proceeded to make repairs that I thought were barely passable and this time he even cleaned up. The supervisor didn't show up until after Juan left and he agreed that some of his repairs couldn't pass muster so he called Tina and she finally sent a new drywall man named Robert out to the house. Robert was the guy they should have sent in the first place. He did the repairs that needed to be done and cleaned up after himself. Tina told me that Juan was a new employee and that maybe they may not be keeping him. But I have to ask myself, if you hire a new employee shouldn't he be under supervision until he proves himself. Based on that fact I would not recommend this company for future jobs and if somebody does hire this company and Juan shows up to do the drywall repair then lock the doors and throw awaythe key. Don't let him in under any circimstances.

Dear Customer ~ Please forgive me if I am incorrect, but wasn't the urgency to start your job an issue because you had your water turned off because of leaks ?????? I would have been more than happy to start your job AFTER the party that you had planned !!! My company is currently in great demand because of all of the homes with faulty pipes in your area. People know that they will get a fair price, honest work, and a great company that will stand behind that work. When I met with you, I let you know that I was not just an "estimator", and that you could call me at anytime if you had any problems. I guess maybe you misplaced my contact information, as I never heard from you. The demand for our services means that we have to hire more people and weed out the ones that do not represent our ongoing promise for customer satisfaction. You were NOT Juans first job, but you definitely were his last job, as he is now no longer with REPIPE 1. I understand the stress of having problems with your plumbing. I also understand the stress involved with having to deal with these issues while planning for such an important upcoming event to be held in your home, but these are circumstances beyond my control. I am happy that you are satisfied with the end result of our work, and perhaps one day, you may feel that the "complications" with your job might possibly have to do with outside sources not directly related to REPIPE 1. Sincerely, Jim Michaelson General Manager REPIPE 1 213/570-4221

After receiving three bids from different contractors to replace the aging water pipes in the home I recently purchased, I selected Repipe 1 because they were by far the most professional company I've done business with in years! Not only were they experienced and knowledgeable about repiping, they clearly, without a doubt provided the most comprehensive and complete presentation of their services. The most important aspect of the entire job boiled down to the certificate of insurance that was provided before the work even began. Most people may not be concerned with such an issue, however; when checking the homeowners insurance policy, i discovered there was no coverage for uninsured workers on the property. If a worker accidentally cut through a water main (unlikely, of course, but as an example of the worst case scenario) I would be responsible for all the expense incurred as a result. If a worker accidentally injured himself while working on my property, I would be responsible for his medical expenses as well as the potential (and because this is California} ensuing lawsuit. These are merely two examples of the myriad of possible costly errors that would befall me if the company performing work on my property did not carry worker's compensation and liability insurance. The Repipe 1 crew arrived to begin the job early in the morning. They laid drop cloths wherever they would be working so there was no chance of anything being damaged or dirtied. They also cleaned up as they went, even bringing their own broom and vacuum. Because I knew this was going to be a long job, I went to the movies, did some shopping and tried to do things away from the house, so as to not get in their way. They finished up just as it was getting dark, taking any accumulated debris with them. The whole crew worked steadily to get everything done in one day. The inspector from the city arrived the next day and remarked
Description of Work: Repipe1 replaced all of the old galvanized pipe in my home with Pex. In addition, they added a hose bib to the exterior of the garage in the front of the house for a future automatic sprinkler system. The crew of 5 completed the install in one day, the work was inspected by the city the next day, and all the openings in the walls were restored to their original condition on the following day.

The only thing that was less than it could be was communication as to timing of water being out and that they forgot to call to tell me that they were going to be here to do the drywall and stucco patch. Also differences between what the crew said and the messages from the office led to minor confusion. Now countless small leaks in the walls and ceiling are gone and the water is so much better than the rusty crap we have lived with for 15 years. I was very pleased with all the work they did. After I grounded the water intake there was no problem passing inspection.

The Re Pipe 1 crew were on time, professional and worked very hard. They didn't stop all day other than for lunch and were here after dark to get the job completed. It was after 8PM before we did the final walk through. I would have preferred they had finished before it got dark. I have no complaints with the work or the people who were on the crew but they really needed at least 1 or 2 more people. They took care to cover the wood floors, and some of the furniture. Moved a few pieces out of the way so they wouldn't be accidentally bumped. In the following days a supervisor/inspector came to do the inspection and the stucco/repair person to fix the walls. I didn't realize they "self inspect" but so long as it is legal I am good with it. The stucco/repair person came and did the best he could to match the textured stucco on the outside walls and repaired the holes on the inside. It actually is pretty good and once I get things repainted it won't even be noticeable unless you look really hard. The stucco on the outside of the house is very textured so matching it perfectly probably would not have been possible without redoing the entire wall. There were a few hiccups that occurred like not reconnecting the front sprinklers, or completely cleaning up debris outside. The sprinklers were fixed with an outside plumber who came a few days later. And I felt really silly about the debris clean up as it took me all of 5 minutes with a broom and shovel to clean up. The sprinkler issue was found during the final walk through in the "dark" but it was too late to do anything about it then. The debris wasn't found until the following day when it was light again. I am sure if they had been able to finish sooner with a few extra crew members these issues would have been taken care of right away. In all it took roughly 5 days to get everything completed. Re Pipe 1 is not the "cheapest" but the best thing is the way this company handled my concerns and complaints. As a single woman of a certain age dealing with contractors has been a trial. I am not always the easiest to please and I am ready to stand up for what I think is right. From the start with the estimate all the way to the completion and beyond there was never any question, delay or attitude. The office communicated regularly and the service people were always here in a timely fashion. When the crew wasn't available to reconnect the sprinklers that were missed they immediately found someone else to do it AND to do it at my convenience. Trust me I was all ready for a fight... they totally defused it! In this day and age when customer service is not the norm Re Pipe 1 is a stand out! What a relief to know there are still companies out there that take pride in their work. I waited to post a review to make sure everything was working properly. What prompted this now is an issue developed with the shower and Re Pipe 1 didn't hesitate to send someone out. If you are looking to do re piping definitely give them a call.
Description of Work: Re pipe small house including run from street to house and new outdoor faucets. Not included in the price were new fixtures for shower, and kitchen and a new water heater. I provided but they picked up and installed. Very grateful for that!

The project took 4 1/2 days to complete instead of 3 day time frame given at estimate time. Most of the delays were caused by an inexperienced work crew of 2 people who did the initial piping. One appeared to be experienced and the other just a trainee. They both took long lunch breaks and the trainee did not arrive until mid afternoon on the second day. The City inspector had to be called out twic e since they were not ready for him the on his 1st visit. The plasterer/tile person was very good. We had to call to have someone to come out and fix issues with the installation of the shower and bath fixtures. Neither was working properly. They also left a big mess in both the 2nd shower and the shower bath. Also left a lot of dust all over the house. We had to call the company 3 seperate times to get the fixtures set up right. They finally sent someone out on Tuesday, they had finished the job Friday so we were without use of shower and tub 4 days.
Description of Work: RePipe 1 did a complete home copper repiping, including installing new fixtures in 2 bathrooms and kitchen sink along with replacing some tile that had to be removed.

Dear Member, I apologize for the day and a half time delay and for any inconvenience that this has caused you. I am sure that you saw the 70+ straight A reviews on Angies List, and this was why you felt comfortable in choosing us for your repiping needs. I am surprised that this happened, as REPIPE 1 performs 30-40 jobs every week with very few complaints per year. Unfortunately, with that many projects, there is bound to be 1 every now and then that seems to "go south". I am sorry that your home was the one. I have spoken to the crew that I personally assigned to your home. All of our employees know that convenience to the homeowner must come first. The night before your job was to start, the crew captain found out that he had 2 workers that were too sick to work. We were faced with either cancelling your job with only hours notice to give you or toughening up and bringing in whatever help we could muster. Since we know that homeowners plan their schedules around our work, we opted for the latter. That being said, I then called your Project Manager to see if he had heard from you regarding your dissatisfaction and he said that he had not. I immediately called the office staff to see if they could offer you any solutions, but I guess in your frustration you have asked not to be contacted. It is very important to me that you know that you can "go straight to the top" and contact me personally at anytime. I am probably one of the most compassionate and understanding people that you will ever meet. I make it my job to bend over backwards for Angies List customers. Even though I am Upper Management I have done everything possible to ensure the satisfaction of any Angies List Customer. One time I went shopping for a senior citizen. One time I baby-sat a beloved pet. The point is that I do not wish you to walk away from this experience unsatisfied, and I am open minded to any solutions or ideas that you might have. We have built our business by not burning any bridges as we grow. I do not wish to start now. I want you to feel like you were treated fairly, so please call me at your earliest convenience....... Sincerely, Jim Michaelson General Manager 213-570-4221 Repipe1

Good experience overall. Oh, and the main water line the house was also replaced with a new copper line, and waterline for the fridge, and added hot and cold capped lines for a future bathtub.
Description of Work: Called Repipe 1 for the Angie's list coupon special re-pipe for 3499, the crew replaced the galvanized with pex pipe throughout the house. Ed and his crew arrived 15 minutes ahead of schedule, spent the first hour prepping and talking to us about the project. The crew started working at 9 am or so, and were done a little after 5 pm. Once the inspector approved the work, Repipe 1 sent out Giordes(SP) to patch up everything that needed it, he did an awesome job, and was a really cool dude. I would not hesitate to recommend, or use Repipe 1 anytime.

Let me tell you about this company, they are first class all the way. Thank you Angie! I needed to re-pipe-my old house . I asked my friends if they could recommend someone, unfortunately all I heard were bad experiences. One of my friends found a new "pond" under her house after the plumber left. I had my heart set for copper piping for long time. However after my research , PEX piping is the cutting edge technology. In Europe and Japan ,they have been using this material for many many years. And believe me... Japanese people are pretty fussy about technology. If PEX piping is OK with them, it's OK with me. According to my brother-in- law in Japan, copper piping became the thing of the past. I am sure that there is nothing wrong with copper. After the re-piping job, we went under the house just make sure of what kind of job they did where it wasn't visible, no surprise, they did beautiful work. Of course, there was no "pond" under my house. Also, they repaired the wall beautifully, like a piece of art .One more thing, other plumbers told us our water heater has to be elevated 18" from the floor in the garage, and they would charge us $300 more. They were wrong, newer water heaters are exempt. So be careful ! This is the only company I know that go through the city inspection. This shows you they do the thing right.

As you can undoubtly tell from the description of the work completed, we were very happy with this company and for having Angie's List post this deal!!!
Description of Work: We hired the company through a deal on Angie's List where the company would repipe your entire house for $3799.00. The company was very responsive after we sent them an email. The Project Manager "Bill" came to the house and explained in detail what the services the company would provide. Bill also gave us an estimate on what it would cost to repipe from the city line to our residence which we agreed to havee them do. Bill also agreed that if a new hot water heater was sitting outside the opening they would install the new one at no additional cost. A new toilet and faucet set was also installed at no additional charge. On the scheduled date the team Captain Alfonso and his team arrived at the scheduled time and worked the entire day to finish the job in just one day!!!!. The company had gotten the city permit and the inspector passed the work. The company then sent out Jose who also worked the entire day to fill in all the walls and the front yard trench in just one day.

They were really good; I highly recommend them. They were on time; they were here when they said they would be here. They didn’t charge me extra to do a couple of extra things. They gave me good quality work. Everybody was really nice. I was pretty surprised they could do the work for that price; I thought it would be more. Their responsiveness was good; every time I called them if they didn’t answer the phone, they would call me back within minutes. The guy said he would be here at 9 and he was here at quarter to 9. Punctuality was really good. They came in and were ready to go to work. I thought they were very professional; they had everything they needed like all the tools. They knew what to do. Let's keep it short, and to the point: Arrived promptly (crew of 5) Spent 1st 1-2 hours covering EVERYTHING near a pipe outlet in plastic sheet. Rooms were even partitioned off! FANTASTIC! Proceeded to re-pipe everything in the next few hours. Ran a 1" hot water main into my kitchen. Hot water now gets there (and to upstairs sinks) in less than 1/2 the time before (we had 1/2" copper). They cleaned up as thoroughly as they prepared things. Inspector came the next day - no problems, so they came back on Monday and patched all the holes [First, they again covered everything in new plastic (the original stuff got dirty the first time, so they took it out when they left (repipe crew), and the drywall crew of 4 started over, covering everything.] Holes all gone, you'll never find them, except for paint color. Final inspection passed the next day. HIRE THEM IF YOU WANT A JOB WELL DONE!!! Fast, professional, thorough, & neat. Courteous, too! Gary Brown,brngrp@cox.net

The guy came out to give the presentation and he was absolutely superb. We went there yesterday to look at the plumbing and you really have to look hard to see where the patches on the wall were and were the plumbing was done. We are very pleased. They even gave us referrals and their certificates of approval before completing the work. I was very impressed and my mother-in law thinks their fabulous!
Description of Work: They replaced all of the plumbing in my mother-in-laws house. They copper plumbing was giving out on her so they replaced it with Pex plumbing.

They were very professional and they were right on time. They gave us a brochure on how to build trust with them and gave us their BBB review, their Angie's List review, and their license, all in one folder. They also gave us a certificate of insurance.
Description of Work: They recommended PEX. They recommended a whole re-piping and they gave me a good rate.
