I think that the carpet was in there since the house was built in 1995. It was 15 years old and it stank. The padding underneath was stained and nasty. When all that stuff was removed, there was just a rough concrete slab foundation. There were various kinds of marks on it, and it didn?t look very good at all. It was a week long job. The first couple of days, they had this really coarse grinder, the size of a hotdog cart, which ground down the surface to make it smooth. There was a lot of dust everywhere. It was quite a nasty job. On the third day, they used smaller hand grinders to do all the edge-work. This took a day or two. They brought the bigger grinder back, and swapped out the discs for the coarse grade to the finer grade grinder. They did a wet grind with this. They had this solution that changed the chemical composition of the concrete so that it was not so porous. Before, you could spill a glass of water on the floor and it would just soak into the concrete, but after this was done, if a glass of water was to be poured, it would kind of sit on top. The grinding made the floor more dense and tight. This happened for a day and a half. There was another day of basically polishing the floor, cleaning it up and buffing it out. Now my floor looks like the floor in a home improvement store or like in one of these post-modern art galleries. It is just natural gray-colored concrete but is smooth and walkable, and looks pretty nice. The total price was about $2000 for about 700 sq. ft. of floor at the rate of about $3 a square foot. I would rate them highly and would use them in the future, if necessary.
Description of Work: I got a house in an auction, and it was pretty messed up because it hadn’t been occupied in a while. I used Marble Shooters to basically set, grind and polish the concrete foundation.
