Description of Work: Andrew spent about an hour and half going over our AC. He checked everything inside and out, cleaned and vacuumed the unit, checked the inside vent and filter and all the connections. He was very professional and answered my many questions.

Description of Work: they missed their appointment because they call in advance to verify the appointment but we were not home yet and we were unaware of this advance calling.they were able to get us an other appmt. right away however.the tune up went well-price right-but we had no idea a condenser-a small cylinder component-was $310.he showed me where it was close to failing,probably when we needed it the most.for the most part it was a good experience i'll use them again.

Description of Work: I spoke to tech on the phone and if I were to require service in the future I would |Hire this company. The reason I did not hire them to do the job is that our realtor |had a home warranty that covered the problem. We needed a diagnosis first to confirm what the problem was.

Description of Work: They checked the AC system, cleaned it, and showed us where further work could be done. But there was no hard sell. We were not low on freon and he did not try to sell us on it. Good company.

Description of Work: Signed up for an AC service through Angie's List. Came on time, inspected the equipment, did not try to upsell. Was very soft spoken and knowledgable. Ended up buying refrigerant as well. Took his time to do the job well.

Description of Work: They cleaned the filters, added freon, cleaned air ducts, repaired air ducts, unplugged drip lines and rerouted a drip line that was defective and leaking in my attic, installed an automatic shut off to keep the AC drip lines from overflowing the drip pan into my attic in the future. A technician named Andrew was really nice and did a wonderful job. He was a respectful and clean worker as well.

Description of Work: Our 15 year old AC stopped working and could no longer be repaired. Kalka came out and walked us through all the AC options. They were very knowledgeable, and provided us with info on several brands of new energy efficient units. Since our heater was also 15 years old, we asked for information about new energy efficient heating too. After choosing the brands we wanted, Kalka installed both a new heater and air conditioner for us. Our monthly energy bill dropped by 40%. They did a great job, and everything works perfectly. I highly recommend Kalka Heating and Air.

Description of Work: I purchased the service for AC tune up. The provider came to point out a lot of problems and the estimated cost to fix is outrageous. We did not go along and there was nothing done to our AC unit. I'm not sure what the AC tune up entails, but there was nothing done to our unit even though our unit was running fine at the time.

Description of Work: Air duct cleaning and a/c check up. They failed to show on the appointed day as confirmed by them. After I rescheduled, the technician was 3 hours late. Technician was very good.

Description of Work: After the latest heat wave, my a/c unit was blowing air but I felt like the house was never getting cool enough. After checking Angie's list for a/c service I was frustrated to find either no response to my e-mail inquiry or no response to my voice mail. Kalka actually answered their phone and I was able to speak to a real live person. They sent out a service person Darren that same day. Darren check my thermostat and outdoor compressor and found that I was having an issue with the unit (no surprise here the unit is 18 years old) |After going over a couple of options, I decided to actually go ahead and replace the entire A/C system on the condition that it could be installed start to finish on that same day. True to their promise a new compressor, coil and thermostat were replaced by a very pleasant and professional crew by the end of that same evening. They even made sure I understood how to program the new thermostat before they left. I was very impressed with their work and professionalism. |

Description of Work: We've been having problems with our HVAC unit working intermittently. This has been going on for some time and appears to have no rhyme or reason to it. I engaged Kalka through an Angie's list Big Deal for a $29 HVAC Diagnostic Check, Service Call and $75 Repair Credit. The repairman could not determine the cause of the problem. He essentially shrugged his shoulders and said it might be the motherboard on the Heating unit going bad since the wiring ran through the heating unit first before going to the AC. He did no testing to check this hypothesis. I would think that at the very minimum to test his own theory that he would trace the wiring and run a bypass on the heater to see if the AC connected directly to the thermostat would run properly, but again, he did nothing. Even when we specifically asked him to check the wiring and trace it from thermostat to AC to ensure no shorts or faulty wiring existed since this is the impression I've gotten from the problem, his action was minimal. He poked his head into the attic for about a minute and said it looks fine and refused to investigate further. | |There was also some initial confusion on the scheduling for this appt, which was worked out pleasantly and appropriately by the Kalka office staff, but caused some significant concern as a first impression. | |We used the repair credit on refrigerant refill for the AC, which was pushed when the repairman could not determine the problem. We felt he was more interested in pushing the upsell on the refill than he was in fixing the problem. We were extremely disappointed in the level of service provided and will not use Kalka again, as well as carefully consider whether the Angie's List Big Deals are worth the bother. Seems like they're just a way to get the company in the door, perform an upsell, and ignore the actual purchase.

Description of Work: THe technician was just great; spent a lot of time inside and outside in the heat. The AC did need fluid (freon?) and that was $187. The 39 was very reasonable but the $187 freon was included with the ad the week before so I thought that was pretty high considering I got had to ask for the new filter in my deal. I wanted to use them because they were local and would again as the provider was so informative and professional. They did respond with a $25 voucher for next visit...
