Description of Work: I was impressed with the technician. He was professional and seemed knowledgeable. However, he tried to sell me things I did not need--One being a $1400 air scrubber. (I had three other company give me their expert opinion just to make sure). I would never use again, nor would I recommend.

Description of Work: They came out to check my AC, add freon and perhaps serviced the unit. He said the |unit was old, freon would not help since there was a leak and he could not determine where the leak was. He tried very hard to sell me a new unit. I thought his price was too high, told him I would interview other companies. I did interview 3 others and decided to go with Seaside AC & Heating, who are also on Angie's list as service provider. I did give a favorable review and submitted to Angie's list. I would definitely use them again and would certainly give them a 5 star referral.

Description of Work: I purchased the 3 ton capacity AC from Kalka thru Angie's service. The technician came to our home and saw that our old AC's refrigerant was not compatible with the new AC. I bought the bundle package from Kalka directly to replace the compressor and coil for our house. I asked if I could apply the $2399 paid via Angie's special towards my bundled package. They asked if I could cancel the original order Of $2,399 with Angie's and pay for the bundled package with one check. I agreed to do this to simplify their transaction. Their technician Peter was very knowledgeable and non pressuring and attempted to find a price that was affordable for our home. He explained in detail the work to be performed and made notes for the installation crew to help in the detail areas when they install. I was very satisfied with the steps that had to be taken to deal with an outdated AC system. It would have been a help to me as a customer to have placed a note on the Angie's special purchase sheet that older AC may not qualify for a simple trade out of a new AC because of the refrigerant issue and expect to pay more to change the system. That would have made my expectations more realistic when the tech arrived to speak about the original installation. All in all this is a necessity item for our home and we're satisfied we received a fair cost for the complete system change.

Description of Work: I am very happy with the work. Very thorough and professional job. Came on time. Very friendly. Explained things and communicated very well. Impressive experience. I am planning on hiring them for future checkups and installing the air cleaning device.

Description of Work: Guy was more interested in selling us a new unit than servicing the existing one. Told us that the unit was close to blowing up. Installed a new filter which was the wrong size. |Had the unit inspected by another company who said, nothing wrong with this one! |

Description of Work: Purchased a Deal for thermostat replacement. Rep arrived on time, uniformed, professional. That is until it became nothing but an up sell. Four times he pushed me to buy a $3400 new A/C unit. Pushed multiple payment plans, even though I said no, I wasn't interested. Last sentence was almost a threat that if the Gas Dept knew the condition of my heater, they would red tag it. I'll get a second opinion, and I might be buying one, but it won't be done through an up sell.

Description of Work: All was done by Kalka VERY well. Their appointment with me was sooner than other contractors had available (that's good when it's hot and your AC doesn't work). Their communications with me was very good at the outset. However, I wish the technician that went on site would have contacted me sooner with his diagnosis and recommendations after he made his visit. The visit was to a rental unit of mine and I was awaiting his call in another location. He told me, when he finally contacted me, that he needed time to put together recommendations after his diagnosis. Overall I give Kalka high marks for quickly getting to the location of the problematic AC unit and doing whatever it took to get it working. Like I said, the only part of Kalka's service that could improve in this particular instance was to have the on-site technician call the owner (me) sooner.

Description of Work: I was pleased with the personnel and the service. the problem was the price. I expected to pay another $500.00 or so for the entire heater and installation, however it turned into another $1500.00 or so. I feel that part of this problem was me. I was not an educated consumer. In the future I will do some comparison shopping to have an idea of what the total of the service I am buying will cost. | |

Description of Work: Checked the hvac and conditioner. Suggested in replace a seal on the a/c which we had in the truck - luckily. We discussed adding some extra a/c ducts to the living room and told me he would setup an appointment. Disappeared. Too bad.
