Like all the other Angie's cupons I bought - nothing happened. Mostly my fault, so I'm solving it by never buying another! Above note to webmaster: If services were not performed, how can there be a date or cost? Note to Kalka: I think you should complain to Angie about my review. I can't even remember buying the coupon, and I'll never buy another.
Description of Work: Nothing. Angie's has a terrible system for keeping track of the money we spend. They don't remind the consumer or the provider of the contract engendered by the coupon. I think all they do is wrap themselves in legalese so they can't be sued by all the people they've cheated.

For $39 I didn't expect to spend about $4,500 but it was necessary. My A/C unit was over 10 years old and completely rusted out. Kalka replace my A/C system and the installer was very professional and diligent. it was not an easy job and it took 2 days. He even found a short in my existing wiring which he fixed. I would recommend Kalka to anyone looking for service.
Description of Work: Inspected the heating and air systems in my house. Upon inspection, they recommended comletely replacing my A/C.

I called and requested AC service and the person gave me an appointment on Sat betwen 11 to 2pm. The tech never showed up. I call the service # and I got an answering service that didn't have the technician's phone #. I wasted my day waiting for them. I called the office on Monday to complain and I was promised to have the manger call me. I never heard back from. Not a good company to deal with.

He was very nice. He seemed to do a thorough job. The pricing was reasonable.
Description of Work: They actually checked my air conditioning unit outside and cleaned it and made sure everything was proper. He also checked the air input inside of my house and made sure it was working correctly. He also checked my vents and it took about 2 hours.

They arrived on time and inspected the air conditioning unit. They discussed what needed to be done and, because of the cost, offered to do only the most vital repairs. We opted to have everything done at once. They completed the job quickly and efficiently. We were even shown the worn out parts that they had replaced. Our AC is now working perfectly, thanks to Kalka Heating and Air!

I needed to service my HVAC because I knew somethings were not working right. I am glad I did because after the service, my electric bill was lower and I know longer fear that my HVAC will give out on me. They give me a report card and I feel confident that my HVAC will last longer now.

They were great, however, they were supposed to get back to me with an estimate on replacing all of the duct work and they have not got back to me and it has been months. I have called and emailed and I have not heard back. So, I was disappointed, other than that they were wonderful. I liked the owner that came out I had a little problem afterwards and they were extremely responsive. They are not cheap. They could not clean the ducts because they are asbestos. They did service the unit. I did receive a discount for the service call, but it was expensive nonetheless.
Description of Work: Kalka Heating & A/C serviced my unit. I am waiting to hear back on an estimate to replace the duct work.

I used Kalka last years thru Angie for servicing my AC. It started as a <$ 100 deal but ended up spending over $1K (may be $2K). I signed up some service program. This company called and offered the annual free check-up. I was not home when the service man came to check out my AC. He called and told me I needed to spend ~$3K to fix some problem that I don't understand. The problem was related to the AC not being properly instailled in the first place. I was surprised i was not told in the year before. Sound like a ripped off. Don't think I'll deal with this company again.

They were great. They wanted to replace the whole system and I didn't quite have $10,000 at that point in time. My experience with them was good. The tech was nice and he explained everything in detail. They were upfront.

The job was completed as expected.
Description of Work: The service was for A/C maintenance check which I have done every year. The gentleman that arrived was nice, and thorough. He gave me information about my furnace filters that no one told me before. I also purchased more filters from him so when it is time for me to replace the new ones I had I will have some. He dropped them off the next day.

The technicians were courteous and professional. They cleaned up and hauled away all trash. I've had no problems with the new furnace.
Description of Work: I took advantage of Angie's List Big deal furnace inspection for $49. A technician came out on the date and time as agreed. He did an inspection of our furnace and stated that one of the heat exchangers had a crack. Because of the danger, he disconnected the furnace and said it had to be replaced. Since he was already at my home and Kalka had a good reputation, I requested a quote on a new furnace. He provided the quote and I called in to their office for an appointment. I assumed it was a good price because they were an Angie's List endorsed contractor and I received a $200 Angie's List member discount. Since then I've seen Angie's List Big Deal offers at $1,599 for installing an Amana 60,000 BTU gas furnace. I'm not sure if it's an apples-and- apples comparison but I guess I should have gotten more bids. Kalka technicians came on the date and time agreed to and installed a 60,000 BTU Maytag gas furnace.

Anyone can make something cheaper by cutting corners and offering less. I’m glad you mentioned the apples-to-apples comparison because it is important to know what is and is not included in competitor’s offers. For example, the Maytag Furnace we installed in your home is of much higher quality than the Amana. Maytag offers a 12 year warranty versus Amana’s 5 year warranty. Furthermore, Maytag offers a dependability promise where if any component of the furnace was to fail they would replace the entire unit, not just the failed piece. In addition, the Maytag has a rust resistant protective paint finish that will ensure your unit will look new for years to come. The Amana has no protective coating and will be covered in rust within 1 years’ time. Finally, our install included a coil and thermostat. Most competitors require you to purchase the coil and thermostat separately, an added cost of about $1,000. We hope that with this information we have established we are undoubtedly the better value. I got a quote from three companies, and Kalka's was 50% higher than the other two. When I asked Kalka why it was so much higher, he attempted to justify it by citing extra work that "needed" to be done for the system to function properly. When I discussed these recommendations with the guys who gave me the other bids, they told me that his recommendations were unnecessary. I'm no expert, but I trust the opinions offered by the other two because they independently came up with the same responses and gave me very similar bids.

The service technician called ahead to let me know he would arrive soon and then arrived when he said he would. He was thorough during his inspection looking over ALL of the components of the system. He answered all the questions I had regarding my system and also enlightend me on what it my cost to replace my unit when the time came. He said there is no need for a replacement unit now and that the system was working fine. I will definitely use Kalka Heating & AC again in the future.
Description of Work: The service from Kalka Heating and AC was excellent. I have lived in my home for over ten years and never had my AC unit serviced. It is also the original unit installed by the contractor when the home was built in 1997. I use the AC unit occasionally in the summer but not every day as we live somewhat close to the coast. I purchased this Angie's List voucher for an air conditioning inspection & tune-up.

Called Kalka Heating & Air Conditioning and was able to schedule a tech for that same day. He showed up on time and installed it, no problems.
Description of Work: Our previous thermostat had a retaining clip that broke, with no way to keep the batteries in it, so I decided to just replace it, as it was old.

Even though the house had to be cold for a few days due to old parts for the heater, they understood this and did the work as quickly as possible. They also responded on a weekend in a timely manner.
