Interstar Electronic Systems Contractor

I was looking for a company to do a professional installation of DirecTV. I had purchased an architectural significant home in Palm Springs and hired an architect to help me get it ready for vacation rentals. I was on a very tight schedule, as closing took longer than expected and the high season for rentals had already started (Nov 5). When I contacted DirecTV directly, they said to negotiate with whichever installer they sent on the price for installation. I found this unacceptable as I had paid for architectural drawings to be sure everything was well defined. I thought that in Interstar Comm Corp I had found a company that would do the professional installation that I wanted. I started dealing with Joseph Edwards, who I learned later was the president of the company. He said Interstar could not do the electrical work that I needed and suggested that I use my electrician to run the RG-6 cable as well as install the outlets.After an on site visit in mid-October and multiple discussions with the president of the company Joseph Edwards I had a quote that I agreed to. Joseph suggested I go to Best Buy to purchase the televisions. As the televisions were not in stock, and the electrical work needed to be done Joseph agreed to delay installation until Nov 7 when I would be at the home. When the electrical installation was complete and I had all of the televisions on Oct 31, I confirmed the Nov 6 date again. I confirmed the start date a third time Nov 4. The installation did not start until Nov 8 and the installer did not show up until the afternoon. Ultimately the installer did not have four working televisions until late in the evening of Nov 12. I am still waiting on the installer to complete the final tasks that we agreed upon. He was late nearly every day if he showed up at all. When the installer did show up he did not have the correct parts and tools needed to do the job. The day before the installation was completed, Joseph held me hostage with a $700 increase to the price. Despite the up front planning and the installation taking five days, the process seemed rushed. Joseph sent everything via express mail to make up for his poor planning of the project. I ultimately paid the price with a barely acceptable installation at a very high dollar cost.The only positive part of the experience was that the Joseph and the installer were very friendly and polite. However, they were generally incompetent and ended up wasting a lot of my time, and my architect?s time. Insterstar (Joseph Edwards) added nothing but overhead and added expense to the project. I would avoid this company at all cost and go with a competent general contractor for an installation such as mine in the future.
