Accurate Electrical Services - Irvine

I previously had a very favorable experience with Accurate Electrical Services, and I mentioned in my earlier review that I would hire them again. As I had anticipated then, I had another issue come up with my electrical system, and I decided to call them out again. I called on a Monday, and although I had thought it was unusually long to have to schedule an appointment at the end of the week, I did so because I was well-served in the past. Friday comes around and I leave work early expecting that the electrician would come sometime within the 2 hour window that was promised. That window passes, and I call to see what's going on. Just like what happened the last time, the electrician apparently got held up on another job somewhere else, and nobody would be able to come out that day. I asked for a further explanation and requested if special accommodations could be made because I've been bumped so many times, but they were not willing to make one. The long and short of it is that they're not accepting new customers south of Irvine anymore. Had I known this at the time of scheduling the appointment four days ago, I would have called around. Now I'm out four hours, and my outlets are still dead.

I was running an iron off of a power outlet, when just that outlet and two other outlets of the bedroom circuit shut off. I reset all of the breakers and GFCIs in the house, to no avail. I called up Accurate Electrical Services, and set up an appointment for a Saturday. Because the electrician was held up on another job, he was unable to make it that day, but the dispatcher kept me constantly updated as to his status, and apologized profusely when it became apparent that it was getting too late in the day. Although somewhat disappointed, I was doing other things around the house besides waiting for the electrician to come, so it wasn't that big a deal. I ended up making an appointment for Tuesday, and the same as before, the dispatcher called me at the opening of the promised 2:00-5:00pm window, letting me know that he was about 15 minutes away. Just as promised, he arrived, and I explained my problem. When Mike arrived, perhaps seeing that I wasn't wearing shoes in the house, and without me asking him, he put on shoe covers to come into my house to check out the problem. Surprisingly enough, we've run into service providers (cough GE appliance repair cough) that refused to do this, but it shows how conscientious Mike is as a person. He ran some basic tests at the unpowered outlets, explaining to me as he narrowed the potential problem with each diagnostic he performed. Same again with the breaker box. Although electrical systems can seem like black magic, Mike patiently explained his troubleshooting theory in easy to understand, layman's terms. At this point, he had a general idea of what the problem was, and he provided me an upfront quote for the further diagnostic steps that would be necessary. I agreed to the price, and then he went about the work. Before starting the next part, he explained to me that because the outlets are daisy chained, the problem is usually in the first of the outlets that doesn't work, or the last of the outlets that do work. He opened up the last in the chain that was working, to find the partially melted twist connector. Because the problem was resolved quickly, he gave me a substantial discount off the quoted price, which was much appreciated. I hunted several hours for the problem and still couldn't figure it out; even the undiscounted price would have been a fair bargain to get it fixed. I would definitely hire Accurate Electrical Services and Mike again in the future. It doesn't look like the builder's subcontractor did all that great of a job, so unfortunately this probably won't be the last time I'll need to call them out. At least with Accurate I know I'll be in good hands.

Easy to schedule, on time, clean. English speaking tech (background and drug tested) seemed extremely knowledgeable and he also looked at electrical panel. Note my home was built in 1960 and still has the original panel. Had him quote addition work to install timers I provided for existing outside light. VERY PRICEY $323 with 15% Angie's List discount to replace this one light and box. Flat rate pricing. Went ahead and had the work done as this is the only light on that side of my house and I had had an attempted break-in the previous week and I didn't feel I had time to shop the price. Quoted almost $13,000 to install 2 timers (I'm providing) and run another outside outlet on the opposite side of the house and linked to the existing outside outlet .....run under house ( raised foundation ). I would use again, but next time I will get a competing bid as well.

We have been using Accurate Electrical for a few years now. They are consistently kind, professional, and they get the job done right the first time. They are also excellent at interfacing with the city regarding permits (which, in our city, is notoriously difficult). Eric Smith has been our main connection at Accurate Electrical, and we have been impressed from the first day at his expertise. We've had a new panel installed, lights installed for a full kitchen/living room remodel, and the latest project was running electricity to the garage for an electric car charger, lights, and outlets. Big projects! We recommend this company, and Eric in particular, to all our friends. They are a trustworthy, excellent company with wonderful employees!

The installation went very well. Eric and his partner arrived around 10am. The team was very professional. They performed a very thorough initial inspection and then very carefully prepared each area in advance to minimize any dust and damage. They performed the work cleanly and efficiently, wrapping up after about 7 hours. They left the rooms they worked in pristine; other than the new fan, you wouldn't have known they had been there. Eric kept us informed of progress all along the way. In the end, they neatly boxed up all the old equipment and scraps for easy disposal and placed all the boxes in the garage at our request. We are very happy with the work and use them again. There really aren't any negatives, but a small item was that they confirmed the appointment for 8am-5pm but didn't arrive until 10am. That said, the work was completed by the timeframe they promised.

Accurate Electrical Services was hired to do a whole house rewire and install a fan that was purchased through them. The installers were Joe and Mike. I purchased a Duel Unit Quiet Cool Fan (Quiet Giant) with multiple speeds. Mike had recommended the fan and for me to spend an extra $400 for one that was very quiet. Mike was called back three different times to fix problems with the installation. The breakers would shut off when the vacuum was plugged in, several switch plates were not level, broken smoke detector, etc. On the first return visit, Mike just turned the breaker back on. On the second visit, he showed me how to turn it back on and that his helper would fix all of the problems while we talked. On the third visit Mike rewired several light switches in the kitchen and bedroom which corrected the problem. But there was more. The next visit, Mike installed the fan. He wanted me to pay an extra $85 for the switch and for additional electrical work. Once the installation of the fan was complete, Mike admitted that he had absolutely no experience with the product, or in installing fans at all. He said it was not his fault, that Andy made him do it. I discovered that the fan was a discontinued model (according to the box it came in). It did not have a variable speed switch and was not the functional fan system that was promised and paid for (fan -$1,239 - installation $1,271). Sherry and Mike involved Andy the manufacturer. I received several letters, as well as phone contact. The excuses went on and on. As an explanation for the discontinued model, Andy said that they had put the fan in the wrong box. When it did not work, he then claimed that it was a factory defect. I was very patient with Accurate Electric to solve this problem and install the correct fan that I paid for. Sherry promised to provide the correct fan. This never happened. Mike kept trying to rig it up to work (in total, five visits). Ultimately, he became very abusive and would scream at me every time his efforts to rig the fan failed. The fan caused the switch and surrounding wall to be very hot. Then the whole circuit would shut off. At this point I called another electrician to troubleshoot the problems. He tested the switch for the fan and found that one switch controlled another switch and that switch controlled the fan. He capped off the switch. It turns out that one fan motor is actually missing and the live wire for the missing fan was on top of the insulation. Additionally, ducking for the fan was never installed, which resulted in debris (dust, fiberglass, etc.) from attic to go inside house every time it was turned on. I proceeded to do some more homework and received an estimate for an Attic Gavle Exhaust Fan (the proper fan for my small house.) $1,213 total installed price. The greatest issue I have had with this is the lack of willingness to fix the problems once they were identified. I was initially more than patient and gave them multiple opportunities to make this right. If the product was simply replaced for the unit that was paid for, and was properly and safely installed, I would not here sharing this story. It has cost me a lot of money and even more time and I still do not have what I paid for in the first place. A very frustrating experience to say the least.

First of all our reason for joining Angie's List was to ensure we would have a greater likelihood of finding a professional fair and qualified service provider. Given the fact we were leaving town and needed service within a couple of days, after explaining our situation to the office (of this family owned/operated business), they juggled some things on their end to accommodate us?first positive. Next, they sent email confirmation with all pertinent details?next positive. They arrived exactly on time, dressed and communicating in the best professional manner, and quickly identified the problem which did not require any actual work be performed. Even though they have a standard minimum charge (travel time etc) as did all I contacted, they WAIVED ALL CHARGES, essentially making the service call FOR FREE. It could not have been a better experience and I highly recommend them.

They were very good. They were excellent also. A little bit higher on price but they did excellent work. It was perfect and I had no problems with them.

It would be difficult to know where to begin, in the past individuals, like myself, had to rely on contractors to hire good subcontractors. Many times you found your contractor through word-of-mouth and then a quick check of licensing to determine whether or not he was licensed by the state of California. However in many cases, to boost the contractor's bottom line, he would hire the cheapest subcontractors he could find. That's about all you knew and then you hope for the best. With Angie's list that's no longer the case. We've done extensive work in our house for the past three years and from the beginning we've used Angie's list to pick subcontractors to do various jobs around the house. Every sub, so far, that we have obtained off the Angie's list has been excellent in this includes accurate electrical services who recently did a somewhat involved electrical rewiring within our house. The lead electrician Eric and his partner Chris were absolutely expert and an excellent job. They were prompt, extremely clean and worked in a steadfast manner to finish their work. Not only are they good electricians but the understood the intricacies of installing new equipment on an old house with aluminum wiring. Not everyone is astute as these two individuals when it comes to doing this type of work. What I recommend this company to my friends? Of course, people would be foolish not to use a company of this caliber, especially when it comes to older houses with wiring issues. As a matter of fact one of our friends drop by unexpectedly while the work was going on and was so impressed with their work and the way they cleaned up she asked for their card because she plans to do since Reconstruction and her residence. I've used electricians in the past, but none the rise to the level of expertise and knowledge that these two gentlemen have. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have electrical work done on their residence. Thomas L Garner JD

I called for some repairs and Cheri was so informative and patient with me that I was able to solve the problems without a service call. I will not hesitate to call them in the future or any electrical services needed!

Gave me an estimate. It was fair for the service they quoted. I had to go another way.

They arrived on time and installed the lights. They were punctual and professional. They provided a quote for addtional electrical work that we are considering and even left the installer's cell phone number if we had any questions afterward.

The team was extremely professional and friendly - from everyone I spoke with in the office to everyone who walked through the door of the house to perform the work. Accurate gave us the middle of three bids but were by far the most thorough and professional during the bid process. Expectations were clearly set and managed, communication was regular and clear. Everyone was one time. A few things I really appreciated: 1) The crew did their very best to leave the house clean every night and clean up as they worked which was no easy task with the lathe and plaster and the extremely tight work spaces in our tiny little house. 2) Eric made excellent suggestions about where to put certain types of outlets and switches to accommodate future and current needs, e.g., installing a split outlet to accommodate a lamp on a switch and a phone charger that isn't switch dependent. 3) We had some amount of light and general electric service every night - they even stayed until 7:00 one night to get a few overhead lights working so we wouldn't be lantern dependent that night. 4) They went out of their way to remediate items outside their arena of responsibility because they are really nice guys - like installing a new dryer vent because the old one in the basement kept falling down and was in the way and tightening up a leaking plumbing joint they found under the house while they were crawling around in the crawl space. 5) The bid was fixed price so if they made suggestions about how to improve various things there was no worry about how much more the job would cost. 6) I felt completely comfortable both being in the house with the team and leaving them to work in the house when I had to run errands. 7) They were completely upfront about plaster repair being outside the scope of their bid and work. 8) Raymond, Chris, Joe and Eric were all personable, polite, professional and clearly good at what they do. They also shared a significant portion of their lunches with our dog. As much as he hates power tools I think he misses the treats.

I was very impressed with the service. The Specialist, Eric, was prompt and courteous, and did an excellent job. He had to come out twice since some of the lights that were ordered had not arrived at the time of his first scheduled service. He replaced the lights that he had, and came out the second time at no extra charge. I would definitely use this company again.

As always, it was awesome. Eric has provided electrical services on 4 or 5 occasions and I've had not one complaint! When it comes to anything electrical, Accurate is the way to go. I walk away from every encounter with a high confidence level that everything is right. You can't say that often with othe providers. Eric is friendly, professional and explains everything that will be done, BEFORE it is done. That is much appreciated. Thanks for another job well done.

They are tremendous. My wife and are very pleased with them. They are very efficient, they cleaned up after themselves. They are very prompt. They do a really nice job. They have all the proper permits prior to coming to the job. I don't mid spending the extra money for my safety. The office always communicates to make sure that we are happy with the work. We work with supervisor Eric Smith.

All work was performed proffessionaly and the area cleaned after the job was completed.

I have a rental unit in Dana Point. Both the office staff and the contractor performing the work were in constant contact with both me and my tenant via phone and email. Mike, the technician, was very professional, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. All problems were addressed and fixed and the tenant was very pleased with his service. Mike also checked the breaker box and outlets made a recommendation for outlet replacement as the original units were installed with "stab ins" instead of wrapping the wires to the outlets with screws. Stab ins are quicker to install by the builder in a condo complex and therefore less labor intensive (workable but cheap!). Mike explained this and recommended they be replaced with more stable wrap wires. He explained this well to me and gave me options. It was very nice to have a thorough explanation. He then returned the following week to replace and upgrade the outlets. I will certainly use this company again and am very impressed by their professionalism.

They did multiple things throughout the house, and they also gave us a warranty. I found them on Angie's List, and I did like their reviews. They were really good! I would absolutely use them again.

The were on time and were able to identify the issue. They are worked on a couple of other smaller issues that I have been having. They were professional. They also saw some other thing that i had a issue with and made recommendation with out being pushy i know i need to do the other work just wasn't ready that day. Will call them back when I am ready to do the work.
