After reading all of the positive reviews on Angie's list I called Above it All Roofing to get a quote on how much it would be to replace the cap on my water heater. It was missing (wind blew it off?) and allowing water to leak into my garage when it rained. The next day I received a call from Jay who was extremely friendly and informative. He said that he would stop by my house to replace it for me at no charge since the part was only a few dollars. He came by a few days later and after going up on my roof he noticed that our water heater vent needed an specialized oval shape that he didn't have on hand. He came back the following week with the correct size and put it on our roof. I offered to pay him something for his time but he said it was just a complimentary call. I will definitely call this company when we need a new roof in the future. It is hard to find this kind of service and honesty that I experienced with this company!

Went very well. David Leclercq made the original appointment for the estimate on time and provided the estimate promptly. Ruben and his crew always showed up on time and worked a full day. They were well organized and ready to work. The work was well planned and no time was wasted while they waited for equipment. Cleaned up at the end of every day's work. Addressed all of our concerns. Pointed out areas that we may want to address such as dryrotted shiplap. Completed the job ahead of schedule and on budget.

I reviewed several roofers on Angies List as well as other roofers. received a total of 5 different quotes over the last year (I was not in a rush). Above it all was in the middle from 11k ~ 19k. Dave, my main contact was very good with the explanation of the work to be conducted. He brought a book of photo's to show the every step of the roofing process. The photo's detailed each process and why it was performed in the manner. Dave also took the time to detail the possible problems and how each would be addressed. He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. The crew for the job was very good. Minor problems were very quickly addressed corrected (it will come up on any job). Job was completed as schedule with a 10% cost overrun for repairs to damaged substructure (discussed before job started). Everything was done as discussed in our initial meeting. No surprises or problems. It's very refreshing to be able to conduct business on a hand shake. I would recommend Dave and Above it All to my family and friends.

Dave Leclerq arranged to come out at 8:30 AM to take a look at an area we thought might have a leak. The doorbell rang at 8:30 and 10 seconds, which was very impressive. We described the problem and showed him the photos we had taken back from all the rain in February, and he spent about 15 minutes explaining to us the types of issues that could have caused what we saw and answering our questions ("Roofing 101"). He then went up on the roof (further educating my husband about "how to walk on a tile roof without breaking anything", much appreciated) and after checking out everything he came back down with a detailed diagram of other areas that might need attention, as well as a plan for handling the leaky area with the smallest amount of disruption. We accepted his bid on the spot since it seemed reasonable to us, and he said he could probably get the work done in the next day or two. I called back that Thursday to see how the scheduling was going and found that they had in fact completed the work earlier that day! We are very happy with the result so far (waiting for rain now!) and recommend this company highly.

It went great! Michael Allen called the next day and made a date to discuss the problem. He arrived on time. Very nice and professional. He seem to know the what the problem was and explained how it should be fixed. He climbed up on a ladder to inspect the area. He said he would call with the time and money estimate. Called the next day and I agreed on the time and money. Project was finished in 2 half days. His workman brought all supplies and he cleaned up each day. I am very happy with his company.

Everything went extremely well. The foreman, Ruben, was excellent. He went above and beyond. They are above it all, timely and professional.

I called and Micheal came over, measured and gave me a quote. We discussed the old fascia and that we would wait to see how much needed replacement, and how much more it would be per foot. He told me when the crew would be available and we scheduled the work. First day at 7am they showed up to remove the old roof. I later talked to the foreman and he showed me the condition of the fascia boards. I told him to go ahead and replace them all otherwise it would take a lot of preparation before painting. The second day the work crew showed up right at 7am again and put the plywood down. The following day was inspection day so the crew was not there. The fourth day the crew came back, again right on time and finished the roof. They left a ladder so the inspector could sign off the work, which was done promptly. Michael pulled the permits, dealt with the city, and did everything required to get the job done correctly the first time.

They completed the project in three days. The area of the roof was approximatly 3500 sq. ft.

Very happy overall. Jay, the owner, was great and responsive. Deciding factor was that Jay took care of all details to include a building permit - other roofers would not do this. I would highly recommend Jay and Above it all Roofing.

The overall experience was excellent. It is difficult to think about getting a new roof, but Jay and his team made it as painless as possible. I contacted four roofing companies. The estimates were similar, but Jay was by far the most responsive, professional and personable. He answered all of my questions, did not try to pressure me and was available for follow-up questions/issues. The team that did the work was efficient, clean and respectful. I would highly recommend this company to others.

I called Above It All Roofing based on their Angie's List history. They were extremely responsive to my call, set up an appointment for a free estimate within two days, and gave me a very good price, compared to other estimated I had received. Dave answered all my questions, and was very pleasant to work with. We weer interested in replacing our sunroom roof with a "cool roof", to meet the tax credit requirements, and Dave got us the information very quickly. The additional charge was very reasonable, so we chose this material. Dave managed to schedule us in within a week of the initial estimate, and the crew arrived very early on the scheduled day. They got to work immediately, and worked efficiently all day. They had the entire roof replaced & repaired within the day. At the end of the day, they swept up the patio, and used a magnet to pick up any stray nails. We never expected them to police the work area this well, and were very pleased. Although we don't expect any problems with them job, they did provide a 5 year warranty on the flat roof in writing, so we feel confident that should any problems arrise, they will deal with them as quickly & efficiently as they did with the installation.

Estimator, Jay, was professional from start to finish. For the initial estimate, he spent over an hour inspecting the condition of the roof and describing various options for addressing leaks. He came to the home several times with samples in order to help decide what roofing material to use. He was patient and thorough in answering all questions at every point in time. Due to personal concerns on the homeowner side, it took several months from the time of signing the contract to actually scheduling the job. Jay worked with us the entire time, and sent crews to the house several times to make sure that temporary patches would hold during very heavy rains. The actual re-roof started and ended on time, and the work is neat and professional. Clean-up was thorough. Over-all, a highly positive experience.

My house is 90-years old. The roof was totally thrashed, consisting of 5 layers of composite shingles (even though you're never supposed to have more than 3). I got quotes from 5 or 6 different roofers and Mike's quote was WAY below any of the others (less than half the price of some of the other roofers). I also was impressed with him and felt that he was giving me straight talk about the obvious and potential hidden costs (like replacing any dry-rotted wood). I signed the contract and sent it in and Mike told me it would be about a 3-week wait. It ended up being a 3-month wait (which is why I gave the C for punctuality). I called numerous times to check, and Mike always personally returned my call within a couple of hours and assured me that I was on the list. At that price, I didn't really care that I had to wait so long; the roof wasn't leaking or anything, it was just an eyesore! Finally in February they came and did the job in 3 days, just like Mike said. The new roof looks great. Mike's estimate for the amount of dry rot (which you can't see until after they tear off the old roof) was right on. After the job was done, I noticed they had left a big mess in my garage (shingle pieces and stuff). I called Mike to complain and they came out the next day and cleaned everything up. In the end my garage was cleaner than before they started the job. I'll post some pictures to show the before and after of the roof!

I spent $8600 on that job. They did a good job as promised and I think they also upgraded the roofing material without any additional cost. One think that I had a problem with was that they id not know about the ventilation required for the attic. I had to do a little research about that in terms of how many vents were required for the attic and thought that they would have known that. That was one main draw back and there was problem with the skylight they installed and they had a guy come within a week to repair it.

Very positive experience! We had talked about putting sky lights in and then changed our mind during the project. Jay was very easy to work with and quickly adapted to our new plan. Would definitely use him again and recommend to others! Thanks!!

I called a few roofers to get estimates and surprisingly, very few called me back. Mike called me back within 24 hours and we set up an appointment for an estimate a few days later. Mike had a job that was running long so he called me to let me know. We rescheduled and he showed up right on time. He asked a lot of questions and explained the solution he recommended completely. He wrote up an estimate and I called him a day or two later to schedule the repair. Because of the rain, it had to wait a few days. The repair required 2 visits to apply the coating. Both times his crew was on time and professional. The work was completed on time and well. It hasn't rained yet, but if it still leaks, I would call Mike back again. Mike even repaired a shingle at no additional cost to me.

My roof was leaking. Jay from above it all climbed my roof and told me that it was a minor problem and how to fix it at no charge.

My tenant reported a leaky roof after torrential rains. As I don't live near the property, and had no referrals for a roofer, I joined Angie's list. I called Above it All Roofing in Irvine, CA and was pleasantly surprised when someone actually answered the telephone. A polite and friendly voice who took my information and said a contractor would be calling. "Unhuh" I thought, sure he will. To my surprise the "JAY" the contractor called back within an hour or two. I asked him to contact my tenant directly to set the time to assess the roof. (Bonus Points) He promptly called my tenant and set up an appointment within the week. This contractor gets bonus points for driving from Irvine, about an hour from my property near Pasadena, which in LA traffic is no small fete.

because we live in a high wind area, i was asking for a specific shingle roofing company that i read on Consumer Report. Jay was excellent in locating the specific material that we needed.He always responded in a timely manner when u called.You need to be specific with him what you want. This way he can communicate with his workers.Don't speak to the workers, because they are not that much of a help!The price point is excellent. You always get what you pay for but he will definately work with you on the price. We just got a drench in southern cal in jan 2010, and there was no leak at all at the house. I couldn't be more happier. I am having him tentatively to do the roof at our rental unit house, and also the awning at the office also :)

What I liked: Dave, the company rep/job manager was polite and thorough, He gave a complete description of what was needed and why. The workers cleaned up after themselves and worked clean and quiet--professional. When the crew had to come back out there was no delay, no question, and no request for more money. Dislikes: The initial repair did not solve the problem and the crew had to come back to complete/correct the repair.

Their proposal was really high; it was more than $10,000 higher than the three other bids that I got. They were fine and the fellow was friendly and told me all the information I needed to know. The second company came a little later and they started to shake hands because I think one thought the other was my boyfriend and then the other just kind of left. They came within a couple of days after I called them. They were responsive.

Dave arrived on time for the appointment to provide a quote. I showed him the location of the leak inside the house and he checked for discoloration in other areas that could be affected by the leak. He inspected the roof and identified the area that needed repair. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The crew came about one week later to repair the roof and completed the job in about three hours. I see no evidence of the leak after the heavy rain (I believe ~4 inches) this week.

GREAT! From the estimate process to completion I would highly recommend this company. Mike spent time discussing the job and giving his recommendations, as well as, listening to what my needs and concerns were. He promised to start in about 3 weeks from contract signing and met the date nearly to the day despite some rain the week before. Mike estimated the job would take 3 days and he finished on time despite the county inspector throwing him off one day by not showing up as planned. The final product is not only beautiful - but - survived its first major rain storm this past week. The crew was knowledgeable and easy to work with. They showed up on time and left the job site clean and neat at the end of every work day. I bid my job to 6 different roofing contractors and I am convinced that I choose the right one. I am very happy with the work and the value for my money.

These guys were excellent. First, they were right on time. Also, they were very professional and friendly. I would definitely use them again either for another repair job or a totally new roof.

Everything went on well when they came out go give us an estimate. It was very easy and they were very professional. However, we decided not to get the work done at that point.
