I first met with Jay Gioia, who is very knowledgable about roofing and materials, and personable. He examined my roof and recommended a coating of a new material named GacoRoof, which is a silicone-based product applied much like paint. This process does not require any removal of the old roof, and is applied in two layers. It has a 50 year limited warranty. I was impressed with Jay's knowledge of this new product and happy that my old roof did not need to be torn off, and had him go ahead with the work. The workers were here as scheduled and finished the job in three days, first power washing the roof, then applying two coats of the silicone product. The roof looked amazing, and we have had a rainstorm since the application and no leaks were present. After the work was done, Jay came and personally inspected the work. I would highly recommend Jay and his company for any roof work one required.
Description of Work: Cover composite material on my roof, some of which had been leaking.

Jay was awesome. Bid as a repair, didn't try to sell us things we didn't need (new tiles); They guys on the job were fantastic - very friendly and informative. The job was started and completed on time. Skylights were replaced at materials cost only even though they had to come back to install (custom order). They insisted all was done to my satisfaction. One area they layed the tile a little different than original. They could see I was a little hesitant about the layout and THEY insisted they fix it. They had to make a special trip out to re-lay those tiles. Had a small rain today and no sign of leaks :) I would use this company again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Major roof repair. Removed all tiles, fixed/replaced wood, sealed around all vents, re-papered (double layer), replaced all tiles. Also replaced skylights.

The initial estimate call was with David Brunn on Friday Dec 31, 2010. He was punctual and friendly. The roof is over 20 feet high and difficult to get to, and neither of us saw the damage from that view. I took David to the attic to show him where the water was coming through and the still good state of the wood in the area. David described the range of problems and solutions that might be involved. We signed what I thought was an estimate for the upper range of possible problems at $1,500. My bad, it was a high priced contract for what turned out to be minimal work. The very next Tuesday, I was notified that they could squeeze us into their schedule for Wednesday Jan 5, if that was ok with us. That was ahead of the original plan, so I was pleased. Arrival time would be between noon and 1pm. By 2:30pm Wednesday no one had shown up or called. I called David, and he directed the crew to my home. The two man crew that arrived was friendly and efficient. I showed them the attic view. Upon getting on the roof, the lead person immediately found the source of the problem. He described the shifted tiles and hole. In a short discussion about roofs, he seemed very knowledgeable and experienced. The crew was quick and clean. There was nothing for me to clean up or take care of when they departed. From arrival to departure took about 45 minutes. That included our initial discussion, going through the attic, their figuring out where to get on the roof, making the repair, our discussion about roofing relating stuff, and clean up. When I brought up the short time of repair to the size of the cost, David said it included 2 call backs if needed (which will hopefully not be needed for quality work on a simple hole.) He also said this price could be used to offset a portion of a complete tile reset job, if I wanted to have that work done. Wrap up... Because of roofing discussions with both the estimator and lead crew person, I believe this company does quality work. For the amount of work and time spent, I believe the price was significantly over priced. My lesson: even though we were in a series of rain storms and I was worried about extended damage to the roof and bedroom ceiling, I should have taken the extra time to get additional estimates. Also, I should know the difference between an estimate and a contract.
Description of Work: Hole was the size of the palm of the hand or smaller. Place new layer of roof protecting paper (30lb) over hole in existing sheet. Seal boundry of new sheet. Correctly reset tiles in immediate area.

Had a bit of trouble getting someone to call me back initially, but afterward the person I dealt with (Jay) was very responsive. Estimate was lower than 2 other companies. Schedule had to be continually postponed because of ridiculously long rain spell, but they covered the roof with heavy plastic during the storm (no extra charge) and fixed the roof directly afterward. Gave Angie's List discount with no hassle. Have yet to see if there are any remaining leaks...(can't be sure of quality until it rains again. However, Jay guarantees to return at least twice with no charge if there is a problem.) I would use them again.

Update: On January 15 I received a call from Mr. Mike Allen, owner of this company. He was concerned and upset that the work they performed for us so unsatisfactory. After his inspection he insisted that his company would redo all the work correctly, at no cost to us, starting the week of January 18. Hopefully, they will, and I will report to you when it is complete. Follow-Up: Work was performed to my total satisfaction. I will use him again for future work.
Description of Work: I would like to report on the ineffective manner in which ABOVE IT ALL ROOFING handled the repair to the roof of our home. This company contracted with us to repair several leaks in our roof almost a year ago. They did respond initially, but never made the repairs required although they were paid in full for the service. Regrettably, our complaints were not acknowledged and we have been forced to hire another roofer to complete the repairs required. I, definitely, would never recommend this company to anyone requiring an effective roofer.

I found a roofleak early december 2010 and hired this company based on the high rating in angie's list. I don't know how they received such a high rating from other clients. First, the sales representative, dave, who was coordinating with the roofer wasn't very responsive to multiple phone messages my wife and I had left and we were NEVER notified when they were starting the work or when they were done. Isn't it a common sense for a contractor to contact the owner when he/she would start the work, get an authorization to do the work and notifiy when they finish? The only thing I received was the original estimate from dave early december. They claimed they had done the repair on 12/24/2010 but none of us has seen a repair person all day for a job that was supposed take at least half a day according to dave. When I finally reached Dave on 12/27, he said he would send me a billing statement via email soon and still no email as of 1/6/2011. I am still waiting. I will never hire or recommend this company again.
Description of Work: I am not sure whether they have done the repair as they claimed.

We came out to this rental property on Christmas Eve to repair the roof. The tennant would not let us in to show my foreman the water stain in the ceiling and where it was located, would not answer the door and closed the blinds. We found the leak anyway and fixed it. I did not get around to sending them in invoice for the repairs till after the first of January. The customer wanted us out there to repair the roof asap because of the heavy rain storms we had had. And we did. The customer was told when we were coming out and he was to tell his tennants. He was also notified when it was repaired. I have absolutly no idea why he was unhappy with us. I moved him to the top of our work schedule because he was leaking. The roof was repaired and now is not leaking.

The roofing estimator came and didn't want to go on the roof or examine it from the attic. Without examining it he insisted that we need to replace all felt on the roof and quoted almost $20,000. When we insisted, he came back and (still without looking on the roof) quoted over $3000 to fix leaks. At no point did he attempt to determine what the actual problems were. I tried to contact the owner to discuss this before posting but he just referred the issue back to the estimator.

The customer wanted us to repair and warranty their roof that, in our opinion, needed to be redone entirely do to poor workmanship by the previous installation. We met with the customer on 3 different occasions to help them understand the problems with the roof. The roof was checked out by us thoroughly and we found that two of the many leaks were from the foundation. At no time did the customer call and ask to speak to the owner direct as I am always available to speak with any customer that wishes to speak to me. His problem with us was all about price and we did the best we could. Mike

Overall, the quality of the work was excellent, the work crew was punctual and kept me informed throughout the work. Mike Allen and Ulises Gonzales were polite, conducted themselves professionally, and were very pleasant to deal with. The true test of the quality of their work came shortly after the work had completed. Several powerful rain storms passed through the area and the new roof did not leak at all. I would definitely use Above It All Roofing in the future.

I contacted six roofing contractors. Two never returned my calls, one declined the work due to a heavy workload, and three provided me with estimates. Above It All Roofing came in at the highest bid but also had the most positive reviews on Angie's List than any other contractor I contacted. That said, it goes without saying, you get what you pay for. I am extremely pleased and satisfied with the work he and his team performed and would highly recommend them and use them again in the future. My comfort level with the three that provided me with estimates wained in comparison to Above It All Roofing. Jay provided me with the highest level of respect, professionalism, punctuality and workmanship that one would expect when choosing a contractor for a job. Jay was respectful of my time by being punctual and communicating with me when schedules were in conflict. I was so impressed with Jay's professionalism and the way he conducted business over the phone, that I described my situation to a buddy of mine who lives out of town but has a rental property right around the corner from me. He told me his renters informed him that his roof was leaking as well. Based on my due diligence in sourcing out contractors and the explanation I gave about how professional and respectful I was treated by Jay and his staff, my buddy asked me if I could get Jay to give him an estimate for his repairs as well. Jay made the trip out to our homes during Southern California's heaviest rainfall in recent memory to survey the damage, keep in mind that it's pouring down rain by the bucket loads. Jay provided us both with estimates and extended us a discount because we had two homes being taken care of by Jay and his team. Jay contacted my buddy directly to solidify the deal between them. The rains had finally ceased and on the day of repair Jay and his team showed up early which was a very nice surprise considering contractors are typically not very punctual. They performed the repairs, cleaned up the mess, then headed to my buddy's place to fix his roof leak. They cleaned up their mess as well, and I settled my business with Jay as a very happy person now that our roof has been repaired. No more sourcing out roofing contractors for this kid. One call to Above It All Roofing is all you need to make.

I was very impressed with the contractor's professionalism and educational approach. While I have total confidence that he & his team would have done an excellent job, we found his estimate of work to be broader than we needed and his pricing to be significantly higher than other estimates that we received. If we decide to reroof our house, we will consider this contractor to do the work.
Description of Work: I called this company for an assessment of damage, work required and estimated cost. The next day after my initial phone call Jay turned up to provide an estimate. Having looked at the roof he explained that the work was so minor that he'd send his guys around to fix the tiles at no cost. True to his word the next morning two guys showed up and very quickly and efficiently repaired the tiles. I would highly recommend Above it All for any roofing needs. Jay is quite obviously a stand up guy and he has obviously thoroughly earned his positive reputation on Angie's List. It was very refreshing to do business with such a credible and professional business. Thanks so much Jay and Above it All.

Overall I had a great experience with Jay G from Above It All Roofing. He was professional, punctual and responsive. With the recent rain in Orange County, I discovered a leak in my roof right before we were to leave for the holidays. After consulting Angie's List, I called a few different roofing contractors and found Above It All Roofing to be the most responsive to my urgent issue, especially considering the holiday timing. Jay G came to see the problem and was able to quote the repair work. We were leaving for the holidays and asked if they would be able to repair the roof while we were gone. He said once the weather cleared up, they would be able to fix the problem. We traded contact info and he stayed in touch. They repaired the roof while we were gone. We settled up the invoice when we returned. It's been a week since they fixed it, but today was the first rainy day. I am happy to say the roof didn't leak and we will definitely call on them again if we have roof problems.

I can tell you that I was not dissappointed. Jay and his crew showed up when they said they were going to and were very professional and honest. Knowing that I was at a loss of ideas on where the water was coming from, Jay and his team were helpful enough to ensure me that my roof was in good condition. Jay's crew went up n my roof to inspect the overall condition and looked at the inside of my house where the leaks were found. They had ensured me that my roof didn't show any signs of leaking. Even after the inspection was completed they continued to give me helpful advise as to what else I could look for and were very professional about suggesting who else I could turn to for help. Knowing that they were so honest with me in a time of frustration in looking for a solution, it was comforting to know that Above It All Roofing was honest enough to not try to take advantage of my situation. If there is ever a reason to need a roofing company, I wouldn't have any doubt in my mind to call Above It All Roofing. You can't go wrong.
Description of Work: Due to the excessive rain this past week, I found that my house was showing signs of leaking. Not knowing if my roof was the root cause or not, I needed to find a professional to inspect my roof. Looking to Angie's list and my father, we came upon Above It All Roofing. With excellent reviews I decided to call them to look into my dilemma. With their extremely busy schedule Above It All Roofing was able to make time to visit my home and perform and inspection.

Everything Mike Allen (the owner) did, from start to finish, was done professionally and expertly. His young crew of Chino, George and Vincente were extremely hard workers who were dedicated to getting the project done well. They were here for 3 days in October, and did an A+ job! They were always on time and even stayed late. The job entailed tearing off most of our roof as the original was wood shingled, so it exposed our attic and beams in the garage, and there was quite a lot of debris (shingles, nails and tar paper). The foremen, Juan and Reuben were responsive and made sure that the job site was cleaned up pretty well. It is now December (and currently one of the strongest rain seasons in recent memory) and we have not experienced one problem with the roof since it was installed. The only minor complaint was that the tear-off company that Mike uses had to delay the beginning of the job by a day and a half but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Above It All Roofing to my friends and family (or Angie's List!) ***UPDATE*** It is now 5 years later, and the roof still looks great and, more importantly, no leaks!

Above It All Roofing provided an estimate the very next day after the initial visit. After a couple of days of price negotiations a final contract was agreed upon. The material was ordered and delivered; work was started within a week. Clean up was done at the end of each work day so the area was kept neat. Workers were polite and respectful of the property. I spent the time to research the variables that can go into roofing material before discussing with the contractor; I highly recommend this be done so that one can specify desirable items in the contract i.e. radiant barrier, underlayment, dormers, flashing, skylights etc. My contractor saw me as a highly knowledgeable homeowner. Make sure that you go over every detail of the contract for full understanding to avoid any surprises as to what is included and what is not. Make sure that you have the benefit of at least three bids that splits out all material costs and labor, especially anything that could be an extra cost such lumber, parts or permits. If your contractor does not want to spend the time to go over all details and answer every question, walk away. I spent an hour and half going over exactly what I wanted, what was included and how the job would be done before I signed the final agreement. I was extremely pleased with the out come of my project. I highly recommend Above It All Roofing Inc. Jay Gioia is a highly competent project manager.
Description of Work: Provided engineering report and all permits. Completely replaced roof; installed two operating skylights, one fixed skylite and four solar tube lights; replaced damaged facia and lap wood. They replaced two damaged tiles on my neighbor's house no charge. The project manager (Jay Gioia) was super to work with. He was very responsive to every concern and request. I was pleasantly surprised that no upfront deposit was required. I can highly recommend Above It All Roofing.

I have a tile roof on my 16-year-old home and attached garage. Based upon the good reviews I read on Angie?s List, I called Above It All Roofing to give me an estimate to repair a leak in my garage roof that occurs only in heavy rain when the wind is blowing from a particular direction. Jay came out, and when I showed him the location of the leak from inside the garage, he said he thought that it would be a small repair that did not justify his company?s minimum charge. Jay was very nice. He did not go onto the roof, but instead gave me advice as to how to diagnose and repair the leak myself. He even volunteered to direct me to a place where I could get matching roof tiles if any needed to be replaced. Jay said that if I was unable to do the repair, he could come out with his crew supervisor and try to do the job at less than their minimum charge. I have an extension ladder, tools, and home repair experience, so was able to make the repair without difficulty. Jay was professional, knowledgeable, and very nice. He took the time to talk to me, and he did not want to charge me for a job that he thought should be less expensive to repair than their minimum fee. I was impressed by this honest, ethical attitude. Another company exaggerated the problem and gave me an estimate for an amount almost twice Above It All?s minimum fee. When considering roof work, I would highly recommend calling Above It All.

It went very well. It took three days from start to finish. Mike Allen was very professional and did not ask for any money for material or labor until the roof was completely done and the City inspection completed. Mike is a very low key guy and puts you at ease. We were very happy with the crew and the work done. The new shingles look a little uneven (not smooth). Mike said that the shingles will become smooth after a few hot days of sunshine.

We did not use above it all roofing, but given the recent experiences with the roofer we did choose, I wish we had! His prices were slightly higher, but his knowledge and professionalism would have been worth it.
Description of Work: Above it All roofing (specifically Mike) visited our home and provided a very helpful estimate of the cost of re-roofing.
