Description of Work: Replaced Gate opener (screw type), plus control box. Moved remote keypad. The owner, Gary, persuaded me that the existing setup (by Elite) needed to be completely replaced. He proposed a similar system from DoorKing. I am not knowledgeable enough to know whether the system needed to be replace. I had called Westcoast because the gate was not closing properly (magnetic lock). I now believe that the system could have been easily adjusted, but was talked into getting a new system. May be worth visiting Yelp to see numerous reviews to this effect viz. this outfit. The guys doing the install seemed to be trying hard, but started off by installing the control box on a flimsy wooden fence that belongs to my neighbor. We ultimately fixed this problem. In the process of moving the remote keypad, the installers ripped out the key cylinder in order to get inside the box. They left the job with the key cylinder open. This leave the box unsecured. They had to be called back to put in a new cylinder. I pointed out that the light bulb inside the box had been removed. The installers said they had not removed it. I know they did because I put the bulb in there myself. One of the installers got a little worked up: "Are you calling me a liar?"

Description of Work: I called Westcoast Gate to have a technician make a determination on my broken driveway gate motor. The manufacturer of the motor is a well known company and i hoped to repair the motor as it is approximately six years old. The technician, Sam, arrived 40 minutes late, drove past the property twice whilst on the cell phone and then proceeded to drive , in reverse at 30-40 mph down my residential two lane street in his pick up truck. He got out of his vehicle and came on to the property, took one look at the gate motor and stated that it needed to be replaced. He refused to actually look at it or diagnose the actual problem. He told me that it was way too small for my purposes even though he had no idea what my driveway use patterns and habits are. I was told that for the mere sum of $1695.00 I could and should have a new motor. when I stated that first I would like to find out what was wrong with the current one i was told, "Trust me, I wouldn't recommend anything to a customer that i would't put into my own house." I thanked him for his time and thankfully he left . The following day with very little effort on my part, I am not an electronics wiz by any means, the extent of my tinkering is on cars, i was able to at least attempt to find the problem. Low and behold I bought two switches from Radioshack for a grand total of $1.25 each and the gate operated perfectly. I got lucky and i admittedly at least wanted to try to figure out the problem for myself. The 'technician' that was sent to my house by Westcoast Gate was in reality no more than a salesman sent out to charge the maximum possible without any interest whatsoever in service or repair.

Description of Work: We bought our house in 4/08. The existing wooden driveway gate looked nice but was badly constructed and warping. We hired Westcoast to install a new electric gate, but they recommended a better solution: Disassemble the existing gate, reconstruct it on a steel frame (making the two halves into a single gate), and install an electric opener.

Description of Work: THEY INSTALLED AN ELECTRIC GATE AT THE PEDESTRIAN WALKWAY AND AN ELECTRIC GATE AT THE DRIVEWAY IN WOOD WITH A METAL FRAME.
