I had a dead raccoon in my ceiling and Jose removed it for me. He spent quite a long time on the phone with me before I hired him. He answered all of my questions and assured me that he could fix my problem. He was very professional and a very nice man to boot! So many service providers are dissapointing in the end and it was a pleasure to meet someone who genuinely cared whether the job was well done. I would recommend him to anyone in the future.

Excellent service in all respects. Mr. Becerra responded immediately to my call and before quoting a price for the service, he made a point of letting me know that the County would pick up the animal at no charge if we moved it to the curb. Even though I called in the afternoon, he scheduled the service for the same day, gave me a time-frame for his arrival and arrived exactly on schedule. He is professional, personable and very knowledgeable. I will absolutely contact him again if necessary and would recommend him very highly.

It went smoothly. Jose B. came to my home. He is friendly, articulate, clean and knows his business... he set up a oneway trap door so when the raccoons left they could not return. Then removed all their detritus and sealed up the attic. Great Job!

I was able to speak with Jose the same day I called. He came out to our house and removed the raccoon, boarded up the entrance, and made my husband and I very happy to have that problem taken care of. Jose is very professional, you couldn't ask for a better job. He was worth every penny.
Description of Work: Jose, who is the owner of The Critter Trapper, came to our house on time, listened to our story regarding a raccoon who was living in our small space above the laundry room. Checked the entire house for entrance points. Found and removed the raccoon. There wasn't a trap set where I needed to worry if other animals would be caught instead, like skunks, opossum, wild cats, etc.

We learned of the litter while while we were out of town, and they handled everything with us over the phone and left the bill for when we returned. We found them very pleasant and professional over the phone, and the person we had at our house to let them in said that they were very pleasant and professional in person. I would certainly call them again.

Thank you for your review and trusting us when you were away from home. We take care of homes in Los Angeles when the homeowners are out of town by just a simple phone call, email or text message. The litter of babies where able to be rescued and saved by taking them to a wildlife rescue organization in Calabasas. We behave in a professional manner even when the homeowner is not around, There is no such thing as been professional part of the time.

Wow. Mr. Becerra is the quintessential professional; I would recommend him to anyone without reservation of any kind. We live in the South Shores neighborhood of San Pedro. There are houses on each side of us, one of which has a stand of South African Bird of Paradise (the 20-foot-tall variety) in which a pair of raccoons were living. The raccoons apparently had a deep and abiding hatred of plastics, as every toy my daughters left in the back yard that was plastic would be destroyed over a period of days. Soccer balls, dolls, kiddie pools, you name it. So, the raccoons had to go. I called up Mr. Becerra and he explained how he works -- there's a fee for each targeted animal removed, and a fee for putting the traps in place IF ANIMALS ARE CAUGHT. Note that -- if Mr. Becerra sets the traps and does not catch what you hired him to catch, he doesn't charge you for the time and effort he put into coming out, evaluating your situation, and setting the traps. And note also - he charges for removing the targeted animals, not for visiting your house, as several other guys I called do, and not for resetting the traps when you've caught something other than what you are targeting. If you catch a cat or a skunk when you are going after raccoons, and Mr. Becerra comes out to reset and rebait, no charge. If you never catch a raccoon (assuming that's the nuisance animal you're after) -- no charge. As he said to me: "If I don't do my job, I don't want to be paid." We caught raccoons, and Mr. Becerra got paid. We had seen a pair of raccoons meandering around our yard at night, and were pretty sure that's all we were dealing with. Mr. Becerra nevertheless set three traps to be on the safe side, and spent some time showing me where they were climbing into the yard, pointing out marks the raccoons were leaving on our fence. A couple mornings later, we had our first raccoon. I called Mr. Becerra and he was out that afternoon to pick it up and rebait the traps. A few mornings after that, we had the other raccoon in a trap. Again, Mr. Becerra came out the same day to collect the critter. Instead of taking the traps (remember - we'd seen 2 raccoons, so we were thinking we were done) he said we should leave them in place just in case there were any others. We didn't catch any more raccoons, but that's not the point - the point is he suggested leaving them in place, and let us hang on to them until we called to have them picked up, a full 3 weeks later. No charge. And again, he came to collect the traps the same day I called him. All calls I made to him were answered immediately or returned within 30 minutes. When he said he'd be at my house at a certain time, he was there, on time or a few minutes early. His truck is clearly marked with the name of his business and phone number. He's got a sharp uniform, and an easy manner. He does all the work himself - no subcontracting - coming out to my house in San Pedro even though he lives up in Sylmar. I thoroughly enjoyed having him come out and deal with our raccoons. As did our daughters, who are delighted that the raccoons are gone.
Description of Work: Mr. Becerra set and baited traps for raccoons. The traps were serviced the same day I called to report a captured animal, and were removed the same day I called to request their removal (because no more raccoons were being caught - they're gone).

Description of Work: I called The Critter Trapper when I heard the constant chirping of a bird seemly from right above our stove. Turned out a newborn chick was trapped in the stove's venting pipe. Trapper Jose Luis Becerra showed up on time and not only rescued the fledgling, but also fixed the exterior opening of the vent, where the bird's mother had built her nest. It appears the baby had wandered from the nest and fallen down an "L" from which it could not return. I was greatly impressed by Jose Luis' humane treatment of the chick following the rescue. He calmed the dehydrated bird while feeding it drops of water, which started the healing process. He informed me he planned to take the chick to an animal rescue station where the rehabilitation would continue. Hopefully, I won't need The Critter Trapper specialized services again, but if I do, I will not hesitate to call Jose Luis.

Our experience with Jose was great. He was responsive and responsible.
Description of Work: Jose, The Critter Trapper, set up two traps to catch a menacing raccoon. He was on time. He quickly discovered where the raccoon was hiding during the day. He made sure to set traps out where our dog would not be bothered by them. He responded quickly when the trap caught a skunk instead of the intended victim.

Jose came out the next day and arrived on time. He walked the property with me and was very thorough in explaining his findings during the inspection. He believes that the issue is with rodents and not opossums. Jose gave me a recommendation for a pest control company to call. I was very impressed with Jose's professionalism and ability to clearly explain the problem and how to resolve it. Even though he does not deal with rodents, he took the time to explain everything to me which was much appreciated.
Description of Work: I called Jose because I could hear something in the crawl space beneath my bathroom that I thought was an opossum or multiple opossums. Jose was very professional and explained the process he uses for trapping animals and his pricing. I made a appointment with him to meet the next morning.

There was a lot of critter noise coming from on top of my den which has a flat roof. The critter noise got louder and louder and more frequent until I realized that I had upstairs neighbors moving into the attic. They got so loud that I couldn't hear the television, and they were so close that they shut up when I yelled at them to be quiet. When I found out how much damage they can do, I decided to call a professional. I had no idea what to expect as the wildlife around here and I generally coexist by ignoring each other. I did not particularly want to have the raccoon family trapped and killed/euthanized which seems to be one of the only options because California does not allow raccoons to be relocated. Mr. Becerra explained that he would basically make the raccoon mother feel like it was no longer a safe place for her family, and she would relocate them herself. This required various raccoon harassment techniques which sounded kind of unusual as I had never been exposed to the world of wildlife control. The internet assured me that none of these techniques would work, and only trapping and euthanizing would solve the problem. Well that'll show the internet! Mama raccoon and her noisy babies moved out silently and never came back. I mean I never heard a peep out of them again. After that first night of peace and quiet, I decided Mr. Becerra is like a wildlife shaman or a raccoon whisperer because I am still amazed how smooth this whole process has been. He gave the raccoon family a week to be sure they were good and gone. Since there was still not a peep out of the former residents, he returned and sealed up the opening where the raccoon got into the attic so that no other wildlife squatters take up residence. If he closed it up the same day, the mother would have ripped open the roof to get her babies, as any good mother would do. Mr. Becerra accommodated my tough work schedule and was prompt and courteous. He answered the phone each time I called. He came the next day. And he understands the animals, their behavior. He didn't charge me until the raccoon situation was resolved. He is a true professional. It's really freaking amazing to get so lucky on my first try to find someone so competent and helpful! I even learned a lot. I'm getting to be kind of a raccoon expert myself, or so I imagine.
Description of Work: Convinced a raccoon family to move out of my attic and when they were definitely gone sealed up the entry point.

Thank you for having faith in my methods of dealing with mother raccoons with babies in attics. The internet is a great source of information, but every job presents a different challenge that may not have a solution in any webpage. There is when experience comes into play. Some of those methods were developed by your truly and have been proven after many many years of trial and error. Giving wildlife a second chance is a win, win, win situation: The homeowner wins by not having a problem, wildlife wins by not been trapped and euthanized and I win because of another satisfied client and another mother happy with her babies somewhere else enjoying a second chance.

The two times I called, Jose answered so I did not have to wait for a call back. On the first day he called 15 minutes after he was due to arrive to say he would be here in another fifteen minutes, and he was. On the second day he was a full hour late, and I called him. He said he had an emergency removal and would be another hour. He finally arrived two hours after I originally expected him. Jose was extremely pleasant and courteous, if perhaps a bit too chatty. On the phone he quoted me exact prices for removal, crawl space door, and the price per vent that would need replacement. He explained why he was doing the things he did. For example, he did not inspect under the house until the skunks were out to avoid spray that would pervade the house. (Unfortunately, the skunks apparently sprayed when they encountered the one-way trap, but that wasn't Jose's fault.) He also told me to flood under the shed at dusk so the skunks could escape at night when it was safer for them. The new crawl space door is well-made and fits well. The new vents were attached from the outside with a foamy adhesive instead of screws. I was a little disappointed that the adhesive makes them look a bit messy. It's been a month and no sign (or smell) of skunks! Overall, I thought Jose was likeable and professional, did a good job, and I would use The Critter Trappers again.
Description of Work: Jose from The Critter Trapper came out to remove the skunks that had gotten under the house through a vent and burrowed under a storage shed. On his first visit he replaced one vent and installed a one-way trap at the other vent so the skunks could come out but not go back under the house. He measured for a new crawl space door. He flooded under the storage shed and explained that skunks don't like mud. On his second visit a week later, he installed the crawl space door and crawled under the house to inspect that all skunks were out. He removed the trap and replaced the second vent.

Mr. Becerra came exactly at the time he said would. He was courteous, respectful, and professional. He provided the services exactly as he described them to me with no hidden or additional costs. These services included removal of dead animal(s) from underneath the house, deodorizing & sanitizing, and sealing off entry points to avoid future problems. His price was very reasonable. Other companies I called were going to charge more just for a service call alone, and then additional charges would be applied for any work to be done.

The man is extremely nice, punctual, professional and very informative. He warned us what to expect (we ended catching both our cats twice each) and showed us how to open the traps if we needed to. After catching and relocating 2 possums, we finally caught the offending raccoon after 2 weeks. We also asked the critter trapper to check out our newly built chicken run to check for predator resistance and got the green light. We can't recommend him enough, he never makes you feel rushed, patiently answers all your questions, comes back to rebait traps, and treats the animals he traps and releases humanely.
Description of Work: We had a raccoon break into one of our chicken runs and attack a chicken, come back several days later and opened a double-latched cage to run off with another chicken. We wanted to have the animal trapped and relocated to prevent further attacks. Having seen some raccoon fights and hearing the screaming that woke up half the houses on our block, I was really reluctant to handle this job myself, as these things can be large and quite vicious. Then there's dealing with the "Well, now what?" once you've actually caught one.

Thank you for your kind words, it means a lot to us. I am very happy that you got what you expected from our services. Please do not forget to check your coop in a regular basis for signs of animals trying to enter it especially when the wood is wet because it becomes softer. That is why I recommend inspections in a regular basis, to prevent future problems. Thank you again and congratulations for that beautiful coop that you build for your chickens, they look very happy in there! I can see the time and dedication that you put into building it.
