After cutting a large hole in my wall to get "better" access to the pipes I was told that after using a camera the clog would not be removed and that he needed to "jack hammer my bathroom floor" in order to find and repair the clog. And of course when done they would not be responsible for any floor repair. Thank god I said no that I would wait until I returned to get it taken care of. He charged me over $500 for his time in destroying my wall. I returned to my home, rented a drain router from Home Depot and cleared the clog on the first attempt. Time spent about 30 minutes including the pick up of the rental from Home Depot. For some reason the credit card I gave them did not get charged, I think they must have copied a wrong number ofer the phone...I am going to get a consumer protection agency involved as the attempt to resolve over the phone ended in a shouting match and me being told that the he had "cleared thousands of drains". I was willing to pay something for his
Description of Work: Like a previous review, I just needed a simple snake out of my drain. I was out of state and had to handle the work over the phone as I had a guest in the casita where4 the clog occurred.

Did not go well. My gas main developed a leak after the repairman they sent had to turn it off and back on when he was working on the hot water heater. Granted it was really, really hot (like 112 degrees) that day and everyone's patience was stressed to the limit. The condo I live in is almost forty years old so the gas line was in bad shape and would have had to be replaced sooner or later anyway. So I'm not really blaming them for causing the leak but their defensive attitude was not professional.
Description of Work: Fixed my hot water heater. They were sent by Fidelity Home Warranty. $65.00 is the co-pay.

Installed defective parts twice. Left with flooded bathroom -- ask if they would clean it up. Told it would be "okay." I now have a huge yellow stain on white carpeting.
Description of Work: Leaking toilet. Put in defective parts twice (supply line) -- flooded carpeted bathroom. I asked about them pulling back the carpet to dry it. I was told "it will be okay." It took me several days with a heater and fan to get it to dry. I now have a huge yellow stain on white carpeting. Cost was $60.00 because it was through a home warranty service.

I chose to go with someone else, but I wish I had picked Tommy Rooter Plumbing instead. He was great. They're really nice people. It's all-around a good operation. I didn't use him because I didn't think I could afford it, but now I ended up spending money and it's not even going to get fixed. He was a good guy.
Description of Work: He came out for an estimate for a clogged sewer line.

This company had to come out two days in a row for a simple snaking problem. They told me I needed my sewer pipes jet washed - which I do not - and offered to reduce the price of that from $500 to $400. I declined. They also told me that the outside sewer cleanouts right in front of my house were not functional - they are. They charged me $200.00 and the problem occurred again a month later, so obviously, they did not fix it. When the back-up reocurred I called a different company for the same problem; they cleaned the pipes using the outside cleanouts that according to Tommy Rooter weren't attached to the sewer line. They took care of the clog and charged me $88. I called Tommy Rooter to talk to the owner and try to get my money back. I was told that since I had a 30 day warantee I should have called them AGAIN, which I thought was ridiculous because this is one of the simplest and most common problems that any plumber deals with, and they hadn't managed to get it right in two visits; why would I waste my time with a third? . I was told the owner would call me back to discuss this (and why they charged me more than twice the amount the other plumbing company did without even fixing the problem) with me on Thursday morning. It's now Saturday and he has not called. I feel my only recourse is this bad and accurate review on Angie's list. I made this possibility of a bad review very clear to the office manager when I spoke to her, so it seems abundantly clear to me that they don't care what their rating is on Angie's List. In sum, my experience with Tommy Rooter was bad: the origin of the plumbing problem was inaccurate; they failed to fix this very simple problem; they grossly overcharged me; they tried to sell me a service that was expensive and that I did NOT need; and they are unresponsive to clients once they have their money.
Description of Work: The pipes under my house were snaked out to try to clear up a clog that was causing water to back up in my sink and shower.

We need several plumbing issues addressed as we just moved into an older home and want to update fixtures, fix leaks, replace drains, etc. I called Tommy Rooter because they are close and got one "A" on AL. We set ip an appt. for 9-10AM today. By 10:35 they hadn't shown up so I called and the office guy apologized, said he'd call the technician and find out where he was and get back to me within five minutes. 15 minutes later he called and said the guy could come right away but by then I had another 11AM appt. so we re-scheduled for 2:00PM "sharp" today. At 2:45 I get call from the technician saying he was 30 minutes away and asking for my address, etc. which I had already given the office twice. I gave him the info and he showed up around 3:30. He was nice enough but I wasn't very impressed with him, maybe because I was already pretty bummed by the whole thing. He couldn't give me a real estimate, just said they charge $85/hour and it'd be that times however many hours it took. "Maybe two to three or more...." So I'm contacting a couple more plumbers and hope they'll be more buttoned down. When they start off this flaky, makes me worry about how they'd be once they had the business/job in the bag!

As this is my first time writing a report, note that the above explains the situation and circumstances surrounding the work. It appears I may have written it in the wrong box, but I believe I've gotten my point accross. Overall it was an excellent experience with Tommy Rooter.
Description of Work: Prior to the labor day week-end, we experienced a leak below our home. This was a situation covered under a home-owners insurance policy. Tommy Rooter was the company the insurance company contacted and they arrived to do the work friday afternoon. We were advised that there was no access to the leak under our home and that it would be impossible to fix that day. They explained how we could minimize damage until access could be gained the following week. The temps in Palm Desert were well into the 100's and working under a home's foundation was not easy. When access was available to the leak the following week, Tommy Rooter was there as promised, on time and very professional. The work was completed quickly and professionally. We also noted at the time another leak in our sprinkler system, a problem that required parts that were not available at the time. Tommy Rooter said that they would obtain the parts and return to fix the problem. This was done on Sunday morning 9/11/11. They again, were there on time, fixed the problem and charged nothing for time or labor. Since we are new to this area, finding capable, honest and professional company's to work with when we have problems is very important to us. Tommy Clarke and his company, Tommy Rooter, met all our expectations and more. They were on time, knowledgable, professional and concerned. It was a wonderful experience under difficult circumstances and I highly recommend Tommy Rooter to anyone with a problem.
