After cleaning out two car garage, painting all walls, and installing StorWall panels with hooks, it looked really clean and organized. But, the garage floor looked even worse than expected. Investigated epoxy coatings which would have solved some of the floor problems, but still would have water and snow dripping onto floor into puddles. Found Swisstrax products on-line and talked to Jesse, their HQ sales rep who answered all our questions about their Ribtrax product. Seemed perfect for our midwest winters where snow, ice and dirt collect under cars and get tracked into house. Ribtrax product has openings through which water and dirt can fall through to concrete floor below tiles. Water will evaporate. Dirt can be vacuumed up through openings. Can be periodically hosed out due to channel design under each tile. Cost was comparable, or lower, than epoxy coatings. Used Swisstrax on-line design tool to develop detailed layout of garage with a design of silver tiles with a charcoal grey border, which looks great. Tool was easy to use, just need to carefully measure your garage. Due to garage size had to order extra tiles to be cut to 4" - 7" wide depending on location on one side and front wall and around steps into house and stairwell entrance. Tiles arrived via Fed Ex in 12 boxes. A 23 year old friend helped install tiles (he can bend over and work on knees much better than a retired guy!). Tiles snap together easily, and we installed 90% of floor in 2 hours. Cutting and fitting the extra tiles around the side and front took 6 hours, but the installation looks professional. In one day the garage was completely transformed into a showroom look. Jesse was very helpful with tips on installation and a special glue needed to connect edge pieces to cut tiles. Tiles cut easily with a saber or circular saw. Any homeowner who does their own projects can install this floor easily. Have gotten many comments from friends about how great the floor looks. No snow and ice yet, but rain drippings and AC unit drainage are totally invisible instead of puddling on floor. We would recommend this product to anyone interested in a beautiful floor for garage or other concrete purpose.
Description of Work: An alternative to epoxy garage floor coating, Swisstrax provide modular flooring made of polypropylene copolymer that snaps together.
