From the initial contact with Jeff Tolly all the way to final completion the project was a complete success. Jeff worked very aggressively to meet our project budget and made a number of recommendations to ensure complete satisfaction. Jeff pushed me hard to replace the old irrigation system and I am now very grateful I agreed as I will have many worry-free years with little if any maintenance. Once the old lawn was killed the extensive project took two days to complete. Jeff's crew was very friendly, professional and worked extremely hard as darkness approached to complete installation of the sod that had been delivered the second morning. I was amazed at how much had been accomplished in two days. I initially asked Jeff to create an area where I would feel as if I was in Hawaii. I now spend my days and evenings in the lushness and beauty of my new surroundings. Mahalo nui loa, Jeff!

I called Tolly 2 times to have them come out & give an estimate. Both times the girl who answered the phone said she will give my information to someone, and they will call me back. No one ever called. I assume they're too busy, or too important to at least give a courtesy call. WILL NOT use in the future.

They quoted around $6700 for the work. The quote was a little pricey. The guy did not give me a good suggestion in a particular way that I wanted the water to drain off. The experience was good. They were professional.

What a great experience! Before meeting Jeff I wasn't sure I was actually going to get my yard done. I was having a hard time finding someone who could do both landscape and hardscape within our budget. From the first phone call I knew this was the company. The woman who answered the phone was very sweet and professional. I got a call back from Jeff pretty quickly and scheduled a time for him to come see the project. Our backyard was a sore sight with half dead grass, holes, a grade into the house and a few cement pads. We wanted a generous patio with a built in grill. an irrigation system, a grass area, a lot of herbs and fruit trees, an area for the raised bed garden and all of it organic. Jeff made a bunch of notes, a lot of great suggestions, took some measurements and said he would get back to us in a few days with an estimate. A few days later we got an estimate a bit over our budget, but that was my bad I never told him how much we could spend. He was able to make a few adjustments to bring down the price. Once we accepted his bid he put together a fantastic rendering of the project and a timeline of about 5 weeks. His crew arrived on schedule everyday. They were a group of great guys! Always professional, willing to answer our questions, and very friendly with our German Shepherd. Jeff was always in communication either by phone or email. I had to go out of town during the project, but Jeff called me from the nursery so I could still help pick out the herbs, bushes and trees. The total project lasted 6 weeks from demo to punch list and finished on budget. It was well worth the extra week. We are enjoying our dreamscape so much. We are out there all of the time using the grill and enjoying the out door living of So Cal. We are also already enjoying fresh organic fruits and veggies from our beautiful yard. Even though the job is long done, Jeff is still available for questions. I recently emailed him to see if I needed to do anything special to protect the plants from a rare coastal frost a few weeks ago. He called me back within an hour of getting my email. Then followed up a few minutes later with an article. A few days later he emailed again to see how everything fared with the cold weather. We will certainly be calling Jeff again when the time comes for our front yard.

They were very repsonsive and had great follow-up.

I was out of town and came back to a great looking yard. My neighbor noted that once Tolly started, they were very fast. They listened to my needs and suggested different options. They worked with my budget and I really liked that. I did meet one of the workers, an older gentleman, and he was very friendly and helpful. The yard looks great! I love the privacy bushes Jeff suggested. He also came out and walked through my yard and suggested I start using plant food and told me how I could get rid of some blemishes on my orange tree. I went out and bought the food and my rose bushes look amazing! He also said he could train the plants on my wall to grow outwards. He said it in passing and while I was out of town I thought to remind him but I forgot. When I came back, I saw that the workers put up the plant wire so that the plant could fill the wall in! I was very happy. One of the lights that was installed stopped working and someone came out to replace the bulb and brought me a few more bulbs for future change out which was nice. Jeff also sat with me for a bit and gave me instructions on how to water my yard ( i.e. how to set irrigation times and how often to water).

Jeff is fantastic! Jeff worked with us on our budget to design a landscape to complement the design of our home, in the Mediterranean style we wanted. He gave us great suggestions for selection of landscape plants and trees and also had perfect ideas for the hard scape. Jeff's crew was wonderful also. They were punctual, arriving early but were careful not to disturb the neighbors. They were very neat and each night everything was swept and tidy. We interviewed other landscape contractors who seemed that they also would do a good job, but we chose Jeff Tolly because he seemed to be easy to work with and he was very easy to work with, he listened to our ideas but also was helpful in guiding us so that the project came out perfectly, on budget and on time. Our neighbors really liked him too. We highly recommend Jeff for projects- big and small.

Overall a great experience from start to finish!

They gave me a good response and a good quote. The reason I didn?t use them was that they were not open and creative enough. They were very straightforward, but they were not willing to offer any ideas for something better to do with my backyard. I was expecting them to come forward with better ideas because they were the experts. They were extremely punctual. Everything was fine. My wife liked them a lot. They were great to get along with. They gave me a great estimate; it was within the ballpark, but it was not as inexpensive as that of the company I had finally used. I would have hired them if they had given me some more ideas to improve the design concept. They were very responsive. They came out during the middle of the week. They were very punctual and professional. I will consider them in the future. The company I finally used had great ideas, but their execution was poor. If I had known how the work would have turned out, I would have used this company instead.

John was professional and well versed in his business. He was good at providing guidance and suggestions. He was not a pushy sales person nor was he ever impolite. We ended up not using him because of price. I looked at his work and it was first class. Overall, Tolly was a good experience.

Jeff and Steve were prompt and courteous (all employees very professional). They provided high quality work at a competitive price. The patio is beautiful. It was hot the Saturday the concrete was poured. Was surprised to see Steve Sunday morning. He explained he didn't want the concrete to set too quickly, so he drove from Huntington Beach to Long Beach water the patio. Steve also had the presence of mind to install empty pipes under the patio - to obviate the need to tear up concrete to run additional irrigation pipes or electrical wiring sometime in the future. Nor did Tolly gouge us for change orders. Clean up was great. Overall top notch work.

Overall, Tolly did an excellent job. They were responsive, easy to get a hold of, and worked very hard to finish the job. The only hiccup in the whole event was that when estimated the cost of the project, they assumed that there would be no dirt haul away. All the dirt was planned to be placed behind the wall. However, it was rapidly apparent that 30 yards (!) of dirt would need to be removed and disposed of. A change order was prepared for the haul away. I requested a disposal ticket (to prove they hadn't sold it to someone filling in a pool or something), but never got one so I held back about $250 from final payment.

This is our second experience with Tolly, and they did almost the same scope in the first job as this latest job. We found their team to perform high quality work and be vey responsive to our timing, budget and needs. They offered suggestions to improve the site constuction as the process went along, always with a focus on creating the best possible finished product. The crews are clean, professional and courteous. We were impressed with their attention to deal and quality finished work. We have also recommended Tolly to several satisfied friends and coworkers.

He was very knowledgeable and very prompt. I want them to come back to do some other work for us. The price was reasonable.

The job was completed in half the time they estimated. A large crew showed up every day & worked like crazy to get the job completed. Tolly Landscape works closely with the Plant Nerd, a local landscape design husband & wife team. They are very knowledgeable AND professional. I highly recommend.
