A few weeks ago I noticed a leak where the irrigation system ties into the main water line. I attempted to repair it myself but was unable to do so successfully. Jeff had beautifully re-landscaped our entire back yard and installed a new irrigation system in the back yard in the spring of 2013 and this leak had nothing to do with the work he performed. I called Jeff on Friday, May 9th. I know at this time of year if may take days or weeks to get these type of repairs completed. Jeff promptly returned my call and offered to repair the leak the next day (May 10th) at no charge! Another service would likely have charged $50-100 to do the job. Way to go, Jeff! That is what I call customer service!

Tolly's latest landscaping job was again outstanding and very responsive. Even though this job was only a small fraction of the excellent, original landscaping job Tolly did for us 9 months ago, they fit us into their busy schedule by providing a cost effective quote immediately and completing the job the next day. Jeff Tolly is definitely more customer oriented than other contractors who are responsive for the first, large job they do for a customer, but are reluctant or will not return for a smaller job later on. Jeff is very knowledgeable on all aspects of the landscaping business, takes the time to educate the customer on the care and feeding of the landscape and sprinkler system and works well with his crew and personally supervises them. He is very customer oriented , takes pride in, and stands by his work. He is professional, punctual, responsive and easy to work with. We again recommend this contractor to anyone who is interested in a quality, competitively priced landscaping project with outstanding customer response and service.

Based on Angies reviews, I had high hopes for Tolly landscapers. In March, I solicited them for a landscaping project that included replacing a front lawn, moving quite a bit of soft scaping and potentially irrigating and doing low voltage lighting on the front of my house. After a phone call, I was scheduled to meet a landscape architect named Gary. Gary was professional and arrived on time, and he spent quite a bit of time with me to really understand my vision. In my mind, if the bid was accurate and Gary was involved, I was going to move forward with Tolly. Of all the vendors I had seen, Gary wasn't trying to sell, he was trying to listen and understand exactly what I wanted. He also made some amazing recommendations, and you could tell he truly knew what would be the best plants to use to achieve my goals of low maintenance but a tropical look. After a week had passed I tried to contact Steve. Nothing. I left several messages. In frustration, and more than two weeks having passed since Gary was onsite, I called the general line from here,and spoke to Christine. She then sent me a very high level proposal, that should not have taken more than three weeks, and lacked any of the clarity or depth of discussion I spent with Gary. I then reached out Christine to ask some clarifying questions about the bid, because there seemed to be quite a bit of information gap. Here's the first paragraph of the reply: "I was not aware that you were not shown the plans. When I was asked to send you pricing, obviously it was written with the idea there was some understanding of what the plans are indicating. We typically operate with a first meeting and a return meeting for design presentation with budgets. Between my illness and Gary moving out of state this week, I think our rhythm was disturbed which caused Tolly to fail in this case. I do apologize and please understand this is atypical of our company. I am checking to see if Steve can set an appointment to share the design concept or if he would like the plans to be sent for your review." The last sentence read "I or Steve will follow up with you today regarding the plans and a proper presentation." I replied back right away with a request to see the plans. No reply. No follow up. They went from an A to an F instantly. At this point, I'm back on the hunt for another Gary. Avoid Steve.

Our existing yard was overgrown and badly needed a facelift. After meeting with several different landscape contractors, we decided on Jeff Tolly's company to perform our softscape renovation. Jeff wrote a detailed proposal to do the work and met with us regularly to answer our questions as the project moved forward. He had excellent knowledge of the different plant and grass species and what would work best for our particular situation. In the early stages we met with Jeff at a local nursery and mostly followed his recommendations in selecting replacement flowers and shrubbery that would do well in our yard. Once the work started, several Tolly employees were present every business day to insure that the project would be completed as planned and on schedule. They were punctual, professional and efficient, and even returned after the job was complete to make some additional repairs to the sprinkler system. The result of their efforts is a beautifully transformed back yard that we hope to enjoy for years to come. We are very happy with the work and would not hesitate to use Jeff's service again for our future landscaping needs.

Tolly Landscape did a fantastic job. Customer service was great. Jeff went to two nurseries with me and was very helpful and patient as I chose new plants. The job was done quickly and efficiently. I would definitely use them again.

We needed landscaping for a new house we bought. Our yard runs the entire length of our downstairs living space, so we wanted to make sure it was done well. After several bids, we decided on using Tolly's Landscape. Jeff Tolly seemed very personable and knowledgeable. His estimate was also reasonable. We had a good idea of what we wanted but Jeff also gave some great suggestions that complemented our vision of what our backyard would look like. We were a bit nervious about the hardscape portion of the project since that would be difficult to change once completed. We wanted flagstone with a concrete border. Jeff was able to get us stones with the exact color we wanted from a picture we showed him. The stones were laid beautifully. The softscape was just as nicely done. We were impressed by Jeff's knowledge of his plants. Jeff's crew was extremely professional and polite. They always cleaned up after the day's work. Jeff was always receptive to our concerns during the project. The final product exceeded our expectation. It has been a couple of months since completion of our yard and our plants are thriving. Our yard is looking better every day!

Tolly Landscaping did a great job of removing my old patio and landscape/hardscape, regarding the property, and installing a new drainage system. No longer getting flooding issues when it rains! They were very professional and got the job done quickly! Highly recommended!

Jeff was easy to get a hold of and work with; with a fast turn around.

Jeff Tolly and Tolly Landscape did an outstanding job on our project. We purchased our home about 9 months ago. For the previous 5 years, the house was not occupied continuously by the owner and, while the landscaping was minimally maintained (yard mowed, hedges trimmed, etc.), many of the plants had been planted over the course of 15+ years, often with no thought as to location and maintenance needs. This home is a showpiece in an area with million dollar homes, so we sought a landscaper who could work with us to help the front and backyards achieve their full potential. A search on Angie?s List led us to Tolly Landscape, and we were not disappointed. We contacted Jeff one afternoon at about 2 pm and, since he was not busy, he came right over. As the owner of the company, we were impressed that he could accommodate us so quickly. Jeff quickly sized up the job and spoke to us at length about our vision for the property. He immediately impressed us with his encyclopedic knowledge of the plants in our yard and what might work well for us. We asked him for a written estimate, which he provided within a couple of days. After receiving his initial estimate, he continued to work with us to refine it, addressing all our questions and concerns quickly. As landscape lighting is an important aspect of the beauty of the home for us, Jeff took additional time to come by the home and show us lighting options. His lighting suggestions were outstanding, and the products he offers are top of the line. We gave Jeff the go-ahead and scheduled a date for the work. Jeff and his crew showed up on time and he had plenty of capable staff to get the job done. They got right to work with the removal of the existing overgrown and cluttered landscaping. As they worked, they cleaned up along the way and were careful not to cause any damage, stopping to ask questions and verify our wishes. Jeff, himself, was on site for large stretches of time, especially during this critical early period. When Jeff was not on site, he was very responsive to our questions and comments via his cell phone. As the crew worked over the next few days to install the French Drain and rehab the sprinklers, we were excited to see things taking shape. By the end of the second day, two existing broken fountains had been magically transformed into succulent gardens. To find just the right plants for these two centerpiece items, Jeff personally took us to a nursery and helped us pick out the plants, providing expert advice and education along the way. He was very patient with us and seemed to enjoy it as much as we did! During the job, Jeff brought in two other highly skilled experts to assist. He uses a licensed electrician to install all the lighting, which was no easy task given our desired lighting pattern and several generations of landscape lighting already present. Jeff?s crew was able to dig out an existing seam in the driveway to run wires for lighting and repaired it so well that one cannot tell it wasn?t installed that way initially. Also, Jeff sent his arborist, Richard, to inspect a citrus tree that was not very healthy. Richard pointed out the problems and suggested organic options for nutrition and pest control. The tree immediately responded and is doing great! Richard also supervised the transplanting of a very sensitive Australian Fern and a root-bound bird of paradise that had been in a pot for 3 years. Jeff?s crew spent a very long time carefully removing the bird of paradise so as to preserve the handpainted pot. They also transplanted many other plants for us, both around the yard and in pots. Additionally, Jeff and his crew made use of existing features, such as flagstone and pavers, to recreate a yard that is beautiful and inviting. Overall, Jeff and his crew are extremely flexible, helpful, and willing to experiment. If the ideas don?t work, they are happy to try something else. A perfect illustration of their flexibility and desire to please occurred when they kept moving these heavy stone benches all over the yard to find spots that were both useful and stable. This was really ?above and beyond?. Also, and this is very important, the job is never ?done? in Jeff?s mind. In the more than one month since ?completion?, Jeff has returned numerous times to adjust the sprinklers, lights, timer, add grass seed ? you name it! It is completely clear that Jeff?s priority is customer satisfaction, and we are 100% comfortable giving Tolly Landscape our highest recommendation.

We are very happy with the design Gary Carlson (carlsonlandscapearch.com) and Jeff Tolly (tollylandscape.com) did for us. We knew we needed a change but had no idea where to start. Gary came up with a beautiful plan. He not only gave us a drawing of the yard but also collated pictures of all the plants he suggested so that we could understand the choices. He coordinated with Tolly Landscaping for the implementation of the plan. Everything went just as scheduled. Gary came often to talk with the crew and make sure that his plan was understood and being implemented properly. Gary and Jeff kept us up to date on every step of the process. The crew that came to prepare the yard and implement the plan was friendly, always on time, and cleaned up every day. The plan was within our budget and made our yard look great. When the project was done Jeff and Gary came back a couple of weeks later to make sure everything was working smoothly and to give us instructions and advice on the timers and pond. All of the plants are guaranteed for a full year or they will be replaced. The waterfall Gary designed is an especially beautiful feature. I had no idea our old spa could be turned into something that is the focus of our yard. Our neighbors and friends have been shocked at the change. I had no idea such a transformation was within our budget. Thanks Gary and Jeff!

This is a difficult review to write but needs to be done. Out of 3 bids Jeff was in the middle, what won us over was his expertise in all things growing! As well as his ideas. He and his crew showed up on time the first day to demo the driveway and front yard. This included very large cypress trees & old block wall. Before I start with the details. Jeff promised us this project would take 4 weeks. Timing was crucial as we were having family visit from out of state in 6 weeks. The driveway was poured a few days later, beautiful result with diagonal score lines. Now 4 months later numerous cracks! Yes we know cement does crack. But really 4 months later!! Come on. After the driveway was poured, (which by the way he charged us over $8000 for a 25x30 driveway more than double the going rate). We waited almost 3 weeks for his crew to start the front yard. We quickly saw the writing on the wall, Jeff was not going to keep any of his promises! After the completed demo, he asked for $17k to start everything. Fair enough, then the routine started. No workers for a few days call Jeff, 2 or 3 guys would show up and do who knows what for a couple hours then gone for the day. This went on for another 2 weeks. We had bermuda grass, which requires grass killer before anything else as well proper soil preparation. 4 months later we have bermuda coming up everywhere and the new marathon sod grass has numerous dead areas because of compacted soil. The last week, with us calling him daily he promised to finish by the end of the week! Really?! He still needed to build the fence and 4 gates! Hmmm, 1 week you say? That last week and half was a nightmare! We had to babysit and supervise, which meant rush decisions. Jeff and crew were still here when our guests arrived. As you can see this project took over 6 long weeks and 4 weeks were nothing but waiting! The final product was stunning, but it was our design he followed. Our neighbors loved the yard and wanted Jeff's number for their projects. We did give out his information with the caution of how long it took him. The final insult. He never followed up with them and we gave him 3 referrals! Ouch!

It didn't go- I received no reply to my request through the Angie's list system. Some of the entries in this review are a bit unfair such as the "Would you use this provider in the future?" question. Angie's List requires a response and the only choices are Yes or No (not not-sure, or maybe, or in this case.. if I could communicate with them.)

After receiving a few bids from other contractors, we felt that Jeff Tolly was the right person for what we were looking to achieve. From beginning to end, we found Jeff, his co-worker Richard, and their entire crew to be friendly, professional, punctual, and honest. Jeff and Richard were easy to get in touch with, and we felt they genuinely cared about us being happy with the finished results. Although we had a fairly clear idea about what we wanted done in certain areas, we were unsure as to which plants, trees, and shrubs to purchase for our front yard. We wanted something that would tie everything together and create a nice sense of balance. We just wanted everything to look beautiful. So in addition to the excellent job that Jeff and his crew did on the cement work, lighting system, and sprinkler system, etc., we also relied upon his creativity to help us achieve the look we were hoping for. We?re pleased to say that everything was completed on time, on budget, and that it looks even better than we?d hoped it would. We would highly recommend Jeff, Richard, and their crew.

The job was done quickly and professionally. The crew worked quietly and carefully, cleaning up the mess each night. The job was finished on time for exactly the price we were quoted. All the materials used are commercial grade and top quality. There was no skimping on materials. They used exactly what was specified in the quote. The controller they installed is fully programmable and easy to use. They also provided all the documentation we requested. We are very happy with the results and would recommend Tolly to anyone needing to have this work done.

We had bids from 3 different contractors and Jeff Tolly was the only one who provided a detailed competitively priced description and line item estimate of the work and materials before we signed the contract. He personally supervised the entire project on-site and improved and made suggestions to our initial plans. Jeff Tolly is professional, pleasant, punctual, responsive, easy to work with and listened. He met us at a nursery to help us select the plants, which we appreciated. His crew was extremely efficient, took pride in their work, worked well together and cleaned up the worksite every day. His work was on time and within the contracted budget with no problems. Jeff kept returning after the landscaping installation was complete to ensure everything was growing properly. We recommend this contractor to anyone who is interested in a quality, competitively priced landscaping project.

They came out and did a bid and I told them I was kind of tight on budget and stuff but I wanted a lot of stuff done so maybe we could fit things in chunks of work. So He came back with a bid and it wasn't itemized at all and it was for $28000. I mean I know I asked for lots of work and I told them I was tight on a budget and maybe I can do some now and some afterwards, that's why I wanted the bid itemized. at least in grouping of work. It was like a two page bid with all these things with one price $28000. I responded to him and I said, "You know that's way out of my budget." He seemed like a nice guy and everything but the bid just put mi into the water. He was a nice guy and very pleasant. We walked around my backyard and I said what I wanted to fix and everything. I was looking to him to describe some solutions, because I had a couple of trouble areas and he didn't really describe them at all he just put a bullet point of "Repair this" or "fix that" but not how he was going to do it. I guess I'm just more of a detailed person.

It was fantastic! They did a great job. Their service met my expectations. Their prices were very reasonable. We had several estimates.

Showed up as scheduled. Jeff gave me an estimate not too exceed $300. His crew, 2 men, showed up Monday as promised and repaired the sprinklers in about an hour. Still working great.

They were very unprofessional I had a signed contract with the company and a scheduled date for them to start on a project and they did not show or call. After calling the company numerous times I was told the need to be better with scheduling and that they would pass on the issue like that really helped me.

The Tolly Landscape worker was prompt, he did a great job, fixed the lights and it was a good experience. He had all the equipment heneeded.

The original price was out of our range. They cheerfully reworked the plan to our satisfaction. They arrived as scheduled, worked efficiently, completing the task in the time estimated. Mr. Tolly was on site to supervise and assist. I absolutely love the results. All plantings were guaranteed. A couple died during the cold weather. I received a reply to my email that day and week later the plants were replaced. I highly recommend this company.
