Called Phill's Plumbing at 4:00 pm Mon. 6/25/2012. Explained that due to current venting setup and gas line positioning the new washer/dryer wouldn't fit into the existing space. Phill's arrived at 7:00 am Tues. 6/26/2012 and told us there were several options but wanted to make sure I knew if I returned the washer/dryer for smaller units no modifications would be required. I explained that my wife wanted THESE units so please come up with a solution. They were very straight foreword concerning options and pricing. I chose to go with their suggestions and Mike started the work immediately. He relocated and installed a new vent and rerouted the gas line. Sounds simple enough but required lots of modifications. He removed the laundry room door, repositioned the outside gas meter, disconnected hot/cold water service lines and repositioned and reconnected both. Sears was due to come back and install the machines after the plumber was finished. Mike said he would do it just to make sure I was happy with the results of his work. GREAT JOB! I would have Phill's Plumbing back for sure! THANKS ANGIE!
Description of Work: Purchased a washer/dryer that wouldn't fit in existing space. Could have returned them for smaller units but wife wanted these due to ratings and features.

It took about five hours for Mike to complete the job including time needed to go out to pick up some pipes. He did a very careful job cutting the drywall (I was able to reuse the removed pieces to patch the hole) from ceiling to floor and along the base of the wall in order to run the new pipes to the faucet. He replaced the outside hose bib. He gave me a senior discount on the bill. I was very pleased with work. Mike did a previous job at my house and as before he was very pleasant and friendly.
Description of Work: I noticed water on the garage floor and found that it was coming from the base of the wall adjacent to the interior of the house. I called Phill who said that he couldn't send anyone over that evening but he could send someone over in the morning. He told me to shut the water supply and that it was OK to turn it on briefly if needed. In the morning, Mike came and using a leak detector, determined that there was a leak in the cold water line to the kitchen faucet. The leak was located in the slab. He said that it was a very common problem in older homes. He proposed re-piping the cold water line along with the hot water line (to avoid additional dry wall repair in the future in the event that line leaked) to the kitchen through the attic from the water supply lines located in the garage. I asked Mike to also repair a leaking hose bib outside the house.

He was punctual, very friendly and he worked with me on the price. I would definately recommend him for your next plumbing project.
Description of Work: Phil did a remarkable job at replacing my old main gas line that was not to code. He dug a 9" wide by 18"deep by 40' long trench from my house to the sidewalk. He installed a new flexible line to code with a tracer and connected it to the Gas Company meter. He also replaced my old gas shut-off valve with a brand new, easy to use ball valve. He finally pressure tested the line, validated the repair, filled the trench back with dirt and put the sod back on.

I suspected that I had a leak in the pipes in my slab foundation as what had been a high pitched noise for a couple of days had progressed to the sound of a toilet running. I also found that my main shutoff value would only shut off about 90%. I called Phill's plumbing in the morning and they were able to come out within 3 or 4 hours. They provided an estimate over the phone for approximately $400 to diagnose and close off the leak. This would not include any re-routing of the pipes, if required. Mike was the plumber that came out. He was very knowledgeable. He was able to use an electronic listening device to confirm where the sound was coming from. It ended up being a cold water pipe that led from one bathroom in the house to another bathroom. Within that first afternoon he had the leaking pipe plugged off. He had to put a few holes in the walls to access the pipes. It was not too bad. Under 2 bathroom sinks, behind one toilet, and one in the closet opposite the bathroom wall. As with all plumbers, repairing the walls is not their job. We discussed what it would take to re-route the pipes up the wall of the first bathroom, across the attic, and down the wall to the second bathroom. I also wanted the main shutoff valve to be replaced. Completely unrelated to the water pipes, I wanted a gas line extended to the kitchen for a gas stove and a new line run to the water heater area to support a tankless water heater in the future. Mike looked up the price for each job in his book. We negotiated a bit and settled on an additional $2500 to complete the work ($2900 total). This included all materials: copper pipe, shut off valve, gas pipe, etc. Mike worked the entire next day and half the following day to complete the job. Everything came out great. It has been a month now, and no problems with the work. I would definitely use Phill's plumbing again and would recommend their work to others.
Description of Work: Diagnosed and repaired a leak in the slab by re-routing pipes in the walls and attic space. Additionally installed a new main shutoff valve and ran a new gas line to the kitchen and laundry room.

Called in the evening after water started leaking from our washing machine connection. Phil answered and was very courteous despite the fact I had just interrupted his dinner. I told him about the problem and said that it wasn't an emergency since the leak was pretty slow at that point. He asked how early I would like someone to come out the following day and I told him anytime after 7:00. He said he could have someone there at 7:30 and I agreed. Sure enough, one of his plumbers, I think his name was Mike, showed up right at 7:30. I showed him the washing machine connection and he immediately knew that it had the wrong fixture. He asked if it was ok to cut into the wall so he could see more of the connection and I agreed. He found some odd couplings that had started to leak from when I tightened the hoses from the washing machine. He cut them off, put a new section of pipe in and topped it with the proper fixture. He offered to reseal the drywall, but I told him that we were going to be updating the room anyway so it wasn't necessary. He also showed me the best way to tighten fittings like that without disturbing the connections below. Whole job took maybe 30-40 minutes. He then showed me his price book for the work and gave me a discount for the Angie's List reference. Whole thing was super smooth and Mike was very nice throughout. Would not hesitate to use them again.
Description of Work: Had a washing machine connection redone with a new fixture and simplified plumbing.

I have listed him in my favorites. He was the most thorough compared to the other two companies that I had called to get estimates but his estimate is the very expensive. He took each little piece and broke it down. I also find him an interesting guy to be to talk to. He did a great job of looking at what had to be done. He showed up on time and was professionally dressed. For a guy who is working all his day, he was clean and well presented. He was careful about coming into the house and made sure his shoes were clean.
Description of Work: Phill's Plumbing gave me quotes to get a faucet replaced in the kitchen and faucets replaced on the wash tubs in the garage, to get the wash tubs draining problem fixed, for a new disposal in the kitchen, a couple of new sinks, and for installing countertops. Also the same thing for the master bath along with some shower fixtures and a hot water heater.

I called Phill's plumbing for an appointment on February 7 and made an appointment for February 8. On February 8th, Mike, who works for Phill?s plumbing called about 30 min. before he arrived. We discussed the nature of the work to be done, and Mike inspected the faucet and shower. After further discussion, Mike understood the extent of the work to be done. Mike went through this price books and determine the costs involved to complete the work. The price includes labor, and all new materials except for the faucet supplied by me. He explained that if he could not repair the shower mixing valve, there would be an additional $300 dollar charge for a new mixing valve. I acknowledge this possibility and agree to have the work done. Mike went about the work and was very professional, clean and neat. The shutoff valves and the faucet in the bathroom were installed first. The shutoff valves in the kitchen were done next. He proceeded to start working on the shower mixing valve, but he determined the new parts would not fit properly in the 45-year-old valve. He told me he had to get the new mixing valve and would be back in 45 min. I cleaned out the adjoining closet so he would have access to the back of the wall where the shower mixing valve was located. Mike was indeed back in less than 45 min. with the new valve. He removed the old valve and replaced it with the new one. Lastly, Mike replaced the shutoff valve to the dishwasher. Today is February 25th, and all the repairs have worked fine. There has been no need to call back Phill?s plumbing as the work was done correctly the first time. I will use Phill?s plumbing in the future if additional work is necessary. I strongly recommend you use a license bonded plumber for any repairs on your home. Be aware of the fact your homeowners insurance does not cover damage from leaking pipes. If you're having non-emergency (scheduled) work done, I suggest you store some water in the bathtub. You can use this water to wash your hands, rinse items off, or replace the water in your toilet tank. You might also wish to store some regular drinking water before the plumber arrives. Occasionally these repairs take longer than first expected. Good luck with your plumbing repairs. You have got to use Angie's list to locate a good plumber.
Description of Work: The scope of the work involved installing six shut off valves, a shower mixing valve and a new bathroom faucet. I supplied the bathroom faucet, all of the other materials were supplied by Phill's plumbing.

Our installation was complete in less than 90 minutes. It was neat and clean. The plumber encountered nothing that he was not aware of so he was well prepared with all tools, parts and supplies need to complete the job.
Description of Work: We needed a to purchase and replace a leaking hot water heater. I called a number of plumbers (3) and through negotiation settled on Phill’s Plumbing. I clearly described the cost factors involved: (1) The size of unit we needed (in our case 40 gal.) (2) The location of the installation including the ease or difficulty of access (both for installation of the new and draining of the old tank) (3) The plumbing attachments (copper of cast iron pipe and its age) (4) The type of earthquake straps in place. (5) lastly I explained that this was not an emergency. Each bit of information is an attempt to negotiate the price in my favor. Once this part is over with get a firm price and ask if there is any other “things” that can or may change the price. If you are not completely honest and lay all of your cards on the table, there will be add-ons when the contractor sees the job. He has installed 100’s of hot water heaters and has encountered every type of installation problem. He also knows how to present an add-on price to make it appear as if he is doing you a big favor while putting an extra $100.00 in his pocket.

They were quick to respond to my phone call and made themselves available to my schedule. When they arrived, they were straight forward and confirmed my suspicion. fortunately, the location where the manifold entered the house was located inside the garage. They were able to gain access to the manifold by cutting through unfinished drywall. They cut the line where the pin-leak occured and re-routed the waterline through another line close by. OVerall, it was an effective and efficient repair method. The process took approximately 3 hours from start to finish. They did a rough patch of where the waterline entered the drywall and the waterline continued on to its destination hidden inside the wall cabinet, away from view. They did not replace the cut up drywall as they had already told me that they do not perform that type of work. I was comfortable with that as I know how to do that myself.
Description of Work: they confirmed my suspicion of a line leak underneath concrete slab. They performed a leak location test, located the leak and suggested practical solution to re-route the line through a discreet location. Afterward they cleaned up the area to a fair condition.

I was dealing with a big box store for a warrant for parts and service on this GE Water Heater purchased in 2007 with an extended warranty without result. After dozens of calls over 4 days without hot water I still did not have a resolution and no affirmative response. I could not obtain the name of the service provider who would be available. I ended up talking with warranty service to customer relations and still have not received a call back as of this writing. I decided to call a few plumbing companies to determine whether I should buy a new water heater or service the one that I have since I had no idea what was the problem. I also had called GE who offered to send some basic parts. After talking to several companies I talked to the people at Phil's and they were extremely willing to come by and put some "eyeballs" on the problem. I was impressed given my previous experience with other plumbing companies. They sent someone right away and I've described the results above. The quick service and the friendly and exceedingly courteous service and professionalism impressed me and I would recommend them.
Description of Work: Diagnosis and fixing a blocked water heater so that the flow of hot water was all but completely shut off. After my call, it took them less than 15 minutes to arrive at my home. The thought was to see what the problem was and why all of sudden the hot water would stop all at once. Mike looked at the problem and diagnosed it immediately. My water heater was a GE 75 Gallon water heater tank purchased in June 2007. I also had a instant hot pump installed on the water heater. Mike quickly determined what was wrong and said he could fix it immediately at a cost of around $300. He determined that at the top of the tank he needed to remove the old inflow and outflow nipples for the water heater and recognized that a rubber washer had been pushed down into a compartment and that pressure had also built up in that area as he removed the nipple, pressure was released from the tank which he described as negative flow or equivalent to having a valve closed. He replaced the flex connectors and turned on the water, made sure there was good pressure in the outflow valve of the tank and the fixtures throughout the house. It took approximately 70 minutes and the final cost was $250.00

I contacted Phill by phone and we then exchanged several emails. I sent a photo of the old valve and provided the pipe dimensions. He responded with a detail explaination of what needed with an estimate which I agreed to and scheduled an appointment. He also dropped by several days before the job to look at the valve. Mike, the plumber who did the job, was polite and pleasant and completed the job in about 20 minutes. The price I paid was after a 5% Angie's List discount.
Description of Work: I needed to have a house water supply shut-off valve replaced. The valve was a 45 years old rotary knob valve and no longer fully shut. I wanted to have it replaced with a quarter turn straight handle valve.

We had used Phill's Plumbing before and were pleased with their service. When we discovered our water heater had died through the night, I called Phill's Plumbing when I got to work and he was able to make a call to our house before noon to check it out. He described to my husband what had happened and what our options were, and upon my husband's request, he placed a call to me at work and did the same. When we made our decision to replace the water heater rather than try and replace parts, he was able to pick up the new one and get it installed within a few hours. I had reviewed prices of water heater replacements on Angie's List prior to calling for service, and felt the price he quoted was right where it should be. By the time I got home we had a new water heater in place. My husband said Phill (the owner was the service man who came) was very professional, and when I saw the bill I noticed he had given us a 10% discount instead of the 5% discount advertised at his site. We have additional plumbing work that will need to be done in the near future and I definately will be calling Phill's Plumbing again.
Description of Work: Reviewed conditon of old water heater and gave options of replacing parts or replacing water heater. We decided to replace the water heater due to it's conditon and age. Water heater was replaced within a few hours at the quoted price, less a nice unexpected discount.

I was very happy with my experience with Phill's Plumbing. I called him in the morning and he was already at work on another call. He told me he would be available the next day as he was working on a serious plumbing repair (slab leak). I told him I hoped he would be able to get to my repair today because my bathtub faucet was leaking and would not shut off. He said he would call me as soon as he was free. He called me back that afternoon about 3:45 and told me he was on his way. He arrived in about fifteen minutes. He checked the bath faucet and removed and replaced the broken parts. He also showed me the parts he replaced and explained what he did and why. I will definitely use Phill's Plumbing again with any future plumbing problems.

The company answered my initial inquiry to replace our water heater right away via email, but wanted to call me to set the appt. Mike showed up on time to survey the current water heater after calling first to say he was on his way. He provided an estimate, was very straightforward about the work and very professional. After about 2-3 weeks, I called to make an appt on a Wednesday and they were able to accommodate a Friday morning appt. Again, Mike showed up on time after calling about twenty minutes in advance to let me know he was on his way. He took about two hours to take out the existing water heater and replace it with the new one, a pan and some lines. He did a great job - very clean. The charge for the service was to the penny of the estimate. I would use this company, specifically, Mike again for future plumbing work. Great job!

We called about 3 in the afternoon and explained the situation to the office. We hoped to get an appointment or estimate before we needed to leave at 5. Mike returned our call in a few minutes. We said it wasn't an emergency, since we could take baths until he was available after the weekend. He said he was in the area so he would stop by to check it out. The pipe had cracked in the wall behind the tile. He went ahead and removed the broken end of the pipe, made a quick trip to the hardware store for a new pipe, and had the job done by 5. The tile and it's backing were wedged tightly around the pipe, but he avoided any damage to the wall. Mike was prompt, efficient, professional and reasonably priced.

Description of Work: Had a major water leak from an upstairs bathroom into the garage underneath. I contacted Phill's Plumbing, and they had a plumber at my house within 15 minutes. Mike, was extremely professional, and quickly assesed the source of the leak, provided and estimate, which was very reasonable, compared to "another" company, and fixed the problem. He answered all of my questions, and throughout the process, when necessary, explained what he was doing. Also, they did not add, an extra charge, for their expedited response. Again, that has been done to me by another plumbing company. Overall, very satisted with the response and the work. I would use them again.

Phill was extremely polite, knowledgeable and punctual. Informed us what he was doing and why. Came on Saturday morning and repaired pipe in time for my husband to shower and get to work on time in the early afternoon.
Description of Work: Repaired broken water pipe at meter. Water was flooding at the street level & had been turned off by the time he arrived. He found the source of the leak with minimal digging and disruption. Provided tape barricade to alert and protect passersby while he worked. Preserved the sidewalk, even though that entailed working at difficult angles because the leak was under a portion of the sidewalk.
