Phill's Plumbing

Friday night all the toilets, tubs and showers in the house were overflowing. I called Phil at 9:30 PM who was in Orange so we opted for Saturday morning. He called at 8AM and arrived shortly after. He unloaded his machinery and worked on the drain pipe for about 2 hours until water was flowing again. He was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing at all times. He is a doctor of drain-pipes. I'm not sure the cost was more than usual as in the past I had the money on hand for emergencies but that's not the case anymore. I went over the statement (contract) three times and didn't see a warranty for work done. I just hope if this happens again within 30 days or whatever he will take care of it.

I had them out a couple of times. They've been excellent! Phill did his work on a Sunday night which was nice. Then I had his guy come out to correct plumbing that my contractor did, and it was excellent. I like him because he's local, he's 24 hours a day/7 days a week, he's reasonable, and he's great! I had him come out on a Sunday night and he came out. You pay for it, but still it was worth it. When I had him come out, he was very responsive and he got in there really quickly. I'll always use them. They are very professional and very good. Overall experience and price are excellent.

Phill is meticulous with his work leaving the job site cleaner than he started. He is a problem solver and pays attention to details. I am happy with his work and I am happy I found him through Angie's list.

The job turned out to be a bit more work than anticipated and Phill had to return the next day to finish it. Which he did, despite the fact that a rainstorm had come in. He did not change his estimate, despite the extra work, which impressed me with his integrity. I paid him something more than the estimate, possibly not as much as the job was worth, and will definitely use him for my next plumbing requirement to give him a chance for a better profit. He was careful to explain everything that he was doing and when the work was done, the area was clean and tidy, and ready to use. The waterer has been in use for over 9 months and everything is still working beautifully. I think the guy is a hero, as plumbers go!

We scheduled an appointment for Tuesday afternoon, 1p to 4p. He never showed up or called. I called the next morning and he remembered and fit me in that afternoon. He came over and was kind and easy going. I showed him our problem. He took a look at the brand (Delta) and said he had to go get the replacement valve at home depot. No prob. It took him 30 minutes to go get the part and come back. He replaces the valve and then suddenly my water pressure for the bathroom sink is mysteriously low. He goes on to show me little rubber pieces of something that he says must have come dislodged in our pipes and is blocking it. He spends another hour unassembling the faucet and putting it back together. It didn't feel right and I kept asking how there could be rubber parts in the pipes if pipes are copper. He had no good answer and I have limited knowledge of plumbing so I didn't challenge him further. I also did not sit in the bathroom watching him as I'm taking care of my two little kids downstairs. But my gut told me something was off and just not right. Experiences like this will make me more assertive later because I know that we totally got had. He charged us $282.21 for the replacement valve. The valve costs $35 to $70 tops at Home Depot. The sudden mishap with our sink faucet cost us another $225. No parts were used here so apparently I just paid to have him hang out upstairs fiddling with the sink for another hour and a half. I am disappointed that I used Angie's list to try to find someone that was trust worthy and still had a poor experience. Everyone's reviews do say that this company is overpriced ... however, I didn't translate that to equal plain fraud. At the end of the day the leak was fixed so Yay for that ... however it's no fun to be taken for $500 bucks for what should have been a simple valve replacement.

They found a lot of buildup in my water heater, which was in the same room as the leak in the wall. They gave me tips on clearing the buildup in my water heater and how to drain it. They also showed me the build up on my copper pipes, and how to read the little sticker. He was here for about 2 days. Phil, the owner, came over also to redo the piping in the wall and make sure everything was working correctly. He also checked around the house to make sure the other piping was okay.

The experience was good. The tech was professional, courteous, and clean. He cleaned up well. We had to explore another pipe which required him to chip away at the stucco. He checked with me to make sure I was okay with him proceeding. I appreciated that he was clear about that. When I first called, he indicated he was busy but he was able to squeeze me in that same day.

This is the third time that I have used Phil's Plumbing, and again, the service was excellent, professional, and cost effective. My in sink garbage disposal unit broke unexpectedly on Sunday evening. I purchased a replacement unit at a big box store on Monday Morning at 730AM, and at 8:00AM called Phil's Plumbing to see if they could install it. They told me they could have a technician by 1:00PM, which was fine. Having used them twice before for other plumbing issues, they were professional, punctual, and the cost was actually less than I had thought it would be. I also appreciate that they are a local company, which I also support. The job was done quickly without any complications. I would definitely use them again if necessary.

Phill was very responsive from the beginning of the job until the end of it. He first sent out Mike to give us an estimate on the job and then Phill came just to doublecheck and give us some advice as to how we might route the gas line. He took a personal interest in the job and after Mike did a lot of the preliminary work Phill came out to check it and do additional work for us. He was extremely helpful and did very good work. We would highly recommend him and will use him in the future for any other of our plumbing needs.

Phill's is a decent professional service but the cost was higher than other services. Though 45 minutes late for the appointment, Mike came to repair two badly leaking bathroom sink faucets and a toilet tank that was no longer filling. Mike had to replace the seals and the springs in one sink, had to replace the hot and cold cartridges, seats and springs in the second bath and replaced the fill value and flushing device. He was very thorough and professional and a good guy. The cost was higher than I had expected. They have a unique pricing model which includes the both the cost of the hardware (if necessary) and the labor so it is difficult to determine the cost of each component. After researching costs of repair after the fact, it looks like I paid about $80 more for the tank rebuild than I should have and approximately $40 more for each of the faucet repairs.

Damaged ceiling was removed. Turned off the water so he could remove the damaged section and replace it. Turned water back on to make sure there were no more leaks. I also asked him about some other plumbing jobs I have planned for the future.

I ended up with another plumber but called Phil to let him know. We ended up discussing the recommended services of the other plumber and Phil provided advice and recommendations on those services. Obviously something that he didn't have to do! What a great guy. I'll really appreciate Phil's input and professionalism.

Everything was fine with the service except the plumber was late because he had the wrong address. Not his fault - whoever answered the phone and set up the appointment gave out the wrong information.

They arrived on time and installed the proper parts....plus they gave a senior citizen discount. We'll be sure call them back when we need any plumbing work done.

He was here before 7 o'clock in the morning which was within a half an hour of me calling. Phil's Plumbing is incredibly prompt, he replaced it right away which minimized all the damage I would have seen, and I've used him ever since.

From the moment I first contacted Phill' plumbing, things went so smoothly. He quoted a price for the toilet installation I wanted done and he did due diligence by telling me the price could go up depending on if additional work needed to be done to complete the installation. On the morning of the installation, he arrived on time (actually a couple of minutes early!). He was very professional and also friendly. He proceeded to take the old toilet out and replace it with the new one. When he finished, he took away the old toilet and the box and packing from the new one. The last plumber who installed a toilet for me left the old toilet and the huge box the new one came in for me to deal with, and it was a chore for me to get rid of toilet because it was so heavy. The price Phill's Plumbing quoted me over the phone for the basic installation was what he charged me, even though I think that this particular toilet was harder than normal to install. To sum up, he arrives when he says he will, he does what he says he will, and charges what he says he will, and his work is excellent. And, he wears shoe covers to protect the carpet!! I could not have been more pleased with his work and professionalism. I am going to remodel a bathroom soon, an I will definitely ask him to do all the plumbing.

Mike, the plumber, was prompt. His quote was 1/2 the quote of another plumber (Affordable plumbing). Job was done at rental, excellent clean up too.

Phil was super responsive - I called him in the afternoon and he came out at 8am the next morning. He was very upfront in his pricing, worked quickly and professionally, and solved the problem in a minimal amount of time. I am actually writing the review some months later, reminded to do so because I'm calling him again for another plumbing repair!

Mike came out to do the repairs. He was punctual, friendly and professional. Both jobs seemed to go smoothly at first, until about an hour after Mike left, when one of the tempered glass bowl sinks in the bathroom ?exploded? ? there were shards and splinters of glass all over the bathroom and adjacent hallway (see before and after pictures attached). I called Mike back. He returned promptly and cleaned up the mess, apologizing the entire time. He said that he must have over tightened the sink and assured me that the sink would be replaced at no additional cost to us. Mike thanked me for being calm and reasonable, given the bizarre damage to the bathroom. He left to get the new sink and said he would contact me by Thursday with a plan for the repair. In the meantime, I received an email from Phill, the owner of the company, telling me that I was not to contact Mike directly and that I needed to go through him (Phill). This seemed strange and a bit aggressive, especially since I?d already been in contact with Mike by phone. The next morning, I received a call from Mike (Phill only communicated with me via email) and he explained that a matching sink was not available, so he would need to replace both sinks. After the previous conversation with Mike andthe fact that the companies website boasts, ?our work is 100% Guaranteed,? I assumed that the repairs would be made with no addtional charge to us. I told Mike that we would pay for one of the sinks, since he was also replacing the intact sink so that both would match. I thought that this was more than fair, but Mike informed me that Phill wanted us to pay for the entire job, including installation. I told him that this was unacceptable, given that we?d already paid and were inconvenienced by losing our sink and having to replace both sinks (which initially needed minor repairs). Mike then explained that he had to pay for the sinks himself. We didn?t think it was fair that he should be out of pocket, so we ended up reimbursing Mike over $200 for BOTH new sinks. This transaction was very uncomfortable and unpleasant for us and for Mike, who was just trying to do his job. I want to stress that Mike is a great guy who was really trying to do the right thing ? he is knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Mike did a good job and the new sinks look great. It was obvious that his employer, Phill, pressured him to try to double-charge us and also that Phill Palmquist does not honor his touted, ?100% Guarantee.? While we would hire Mike again, we will NEVER hire Phill?s Plumbing again and definitely WOULD NOT recommend the company. The owner, Phill Palmquist, is dishonest, disrespectful of customers and does not honor his advertised guarantee.

Phill arrived on time and was very professional. He put on foot protectors (this gives you a good idea of how he will treat your home) and then explained the problem, did the repair quickly and told me he guaranteed his work for one year. He was very personable and I would use him again and recommend him to my friends and family. It is nice when a plumber experience works out!

I met Phil after my wife called him to ask for a bid on repairing our sewer line; it frequently clogs, has many breaks in it and needs repair. He reviewed a DVD of an inspection done by another company. He shared that the DVD was substandard and that he would like to use his own camera to check the sewer. In repsonse, I said "Well, everyone else that comes and wants to use their own camera has said that there is a fee involved and I tell then we are collecting >free< estimates right now." He gave me some advice on what to do about the sewer and later told me that he normally charges $91 for the estimate. I apologized, said it may have been a miscommunication from my wife because we were only interested in companies that offered a free estimate. He did not push for the payment. Phil also pointed out that he was a plumber and what we needed was a drain specialist. Bottomline, Phil arrived on time, he was courteous and professional, ended up not getting paid for his estimate, for a job that he does not normally perform. I would recommend him to someone looking for a great plumber!

He was very punctual and professional. He detected another leak so i was forced to repipe the whole house. Since it was a bigger job I decided to go with a company that only specializes in repiping.

Called Phill on Sunday afternoon and he came out Monday morning to fix our water heater, replacing the thermocouple. He also gave us advice on different options for other work we knew we needed done.
