OC Sunny

In my search for the right Solar Panel Installer, we interviewed around 10 different companies. We chose OC Sunny based on experience, price offering, product offering and the willingness to use a lift system to safely elevate the installers and the panels to the roof. We were very happy with our choice. Todd, the owner of OC Sunny, was knowledgeable, responsive and very accommodating. He addressed our concerns and made sure the job was done right. Also, he was very helpful in the incentive filing and Edison permission to operate process. We would highly recommend OC Sunny!

I'm very pleased with my PV system installed by O.C. Sunny. They came recommended to us by our contractor and friend. The owner (Todd) is really nice, professional, and seems to care tremendously about doing right by his customers. I'm an engineer and I had researched solar panels, pricing, break-even periods, etc. so I came to Todd with a lot of questions and was very demanding. I even downloaded all of my hourly Edison power consumption data and created a big spreadsheet to prove to myself that solar was going to be worth it (in my case within 5 years). So Todd and I went back and forth a bunch of times exploring all the options for buying, leasing, number of panels, etc. Throughout the whole process, he never became impatient with me but continued to invest time and answer all of my questions before I made my decision. Regarding pricing, I was able to negotiate a really great deal with O.C. Sunny. Todd was extremely honest with me about the pricing and I know for a fact that I got a great deal. I called several other solar providers asking if they could come close on the price-per-watt and nobody could. In fact, buying turned out to be the best value, and Todd helped me to see that (the solar leases tend to take a nice bite out of the profit, so installers usually push up the price). After signing our contract, O.C. Sunny was able to get started right away. They took care of all the paperwork with the city and Edison, so it was easy. There was a slight delay in getting the panels from the manufacturer (SunPower X21-345), so they were able to install the rails and other hardware in the meantime. As soon as the panels arrived, they installed the rest. Todd personally made sure all the panels were aligned and spaced straight and perfect and that all the conduit/wiring/etc was tucked away neatly. He worked with me to ensure that the inverter went in a convenient location on the side of the house and even emailed me pictures during installation so I could verify everything while at work. After the install, we had our city inspection the next day and passed without any problem. The system has been running now for about a month and I am very pleased with the performance. I used the NREL website "In My Backyard" to estimate the power production early on, which was backed up by O.C Sunny's predictions. This included going up on our roof to ensure that there was little shading using a high-tech gadget. In fact, the system so far has generated about 10-20% more than anticipated, and now that my Net-metering agreement is in place with Edison, our first bill for the month of August was negative (a credit!). Our system is modest in size (10 panels or 3.45kW), so I don't anticipate it wiping out all of our yearly electric bills, but it should take care of most of them. Our bills were about $200 in the summer (we have a time-of-use billing cycle, or TOU) and maybe $150 in winter. So the bottom line is that the system is delivering, saving us the money we expected, and of course generating environmentally clean energy...I feel really positive about that. One final comment about the whole process. We did have a misunderstanding about whether the system included monitoring (it does if you do the SunPower lease). Since I decided to pay cash, the monitoring just consisted of the LCD display on the back of the inverter (which shuts off at night). This is something I definitely wanted (the web-monitoring) to ensure that my investment continues to produce. Todd and I worked out an agreement that was more than fair and he personally came over to finish the installation of the monitoring hardware on a Saturday. So now I have everything I wanted and I'm extremely happy with the system. So if you are going to pursue a PV system for your house and invest all that money, I would highly recommend going with an installer that you can trust and will do a good job. Having worked with a lot of different contractors and subs during our home remodel, I can definitely say that not all of them care about doing the job right and making their customers happy. O.C. Sunny certainly does and I would recommend them to anyone looking to install a system in the South Bay area.

After doing some research and talking to over four solar panel companies to obtain estimates and information, I finally decided to go with OC Sunny Solar Installers (Todd and his crew). Todd came over to my house and not only did he answer all my questions and concerns but he always explain how and why certain things work. He was very understanding to my request and figured out where the most efficient location would be to place the solar panel system. The overall process went great. Todd and his sons were always on time, reliable, friendly, very clean, and professional. I would highly recommend Todd to anyone in the Orange County or SoCal region, not only do they help you save on your electric bill in the long run but they are also affordable. Before we went with OC Sunny, we spoke with over 6 sales reps from other companies. They were all like use car salesman, bad. They tried to sell systems that would have been to small just to make a sale. We found that most other sales reps were just that sales rep, Todd is the owner and he or his son are on the job at all times. Todd came in we told him what we wanted and why, he explained everything in detail and and why certain things would work and other wouldn't. We had some concerns about how the panels would look on the roof, he designed and fitted them perfectly. Our friends and neighbors all complement on the design and look. One suggestion I have is to oversize your system and don't worry what the power company says you can and can't do, it is your home. Bottom line, OC Sunny (Todd) did a great job.

It went great. The crew were clean, professional and always there when they said they would be. My system was completed as scheduled and it blends very well on my roof.
