OC Decks was responsive from start to finish. They showed up when promised, were quick to provide the proposal, and were less expensive than two other companies. The workers were polite and considerate. There were no surprises. OC Decks provided an estimate for any plywood that needed to be replaced on a per square foot basis. I also asked them to replace a rooftop piece they were going to contract out to a third party. The third party could not do it, so OC Decks ended up doing it by themselves and did not charge me for it. Overall, I had a great experience with OC Decks and would hire them again.

This project went very well . We are happy with the results. It is draining perfectly and looks beautiful.

Our front and back decks were in bad shape, with dry rot and termite damage. OC Decks was very responsive and professional from day one. Ed and Sharon understood all our needs and made great suggestions for new wood railing design and waterproof decking. The job was labor intensive, and after taking apart the rear deck, the damage was such that we needed it to be completely removed and a totally new deck designed and installed. The workers were here every day and were very clean, courteous and thorough. They worked very hard and listened to us as the job progressed, incorporating our detailed notes and changes. When challenges presented themselves, Ed and Sharon would show up the next day and work with us to resolve them. The attention to detail, whether it be expert carpentry, deck waterproofing, painting, or cement work, was impressive, high quality and appreciated. The finish was great and the work is top notch. All in all, this is one of the best companies we have worked with and we highly recommend them.

I would rate this company an A+. From the first telephone conversation to our review of the final completed work, Sharon and Ed were fantastic. Sharon was extremely responsive and continued to keep us updated with photos throughout the process. Eddie really knows his stuff and provided a lot of insight and additional technical recommendations. We found out that we had extensive dry rot damage to our back deck and that we needed a complete replacement. We met with several contractors and received 3 bids. OC Decks was the most reasonable, but that isn't the reason we went with them. They were extremely professional and knowledgeable. Eddie spent the time to review the issues and discuss options available to us. They also provided photos from other jobs to give us reference points. We also have tenants with a large dog and Sharon handled our tenants professionally and were able to make additional accommodations to ensure a smooth experience for us and the tenants. They took a lot of care to cover up areas that could potentially be affected by the construction and kept the job site clean during the construction. After all of the work was done, they put everything back (furniture, plants, etc) to their original places. The deck and patio cover look amazing. This is the best experience I have ever had with a contractor and would highly recommend them.

OC Decks is amazing. Ed and Sharon and their team are extremely professional and very responsive. Best of all they do an amazing job. Our 260 sqft balcony was completely rotten. So rotten that I even stepped through the floor boards. We ended up having to tear out almost everything. Ed and his team came in and did a great job. They really care about the details and making sure you are happy with the results. The definitely go the extra mile. I actually got two other bids a few years before and their prices were competitive. The biggest reason I went with them in the first place was because they are the only orange county company that I could find that is licensed in both decking and concrete services. I called several companies and most of them would need to outsource the construction of the balcony. Or if I hired someone to reconstruct the balcony they did not have the experience in the solid surface application. Since the whole balcony was rotten, I wanted someone that would make sure that the structure was ok before slapping on a 7 layer system. The work performed affected a supporting post that was a part of our house. This means that a large section of stucco also had to be redone. They did a great job on the stucco. You can?t even tell that all this work was performed. The deck was completely replaced with new wood and we changed our existing railing to redwood. I wanted to keep the design we had before so they accommodated the design I wanted. Ed really pays attention to all the details and added additional wood to cover and reinforce some of the older deck. One other note, they respond quickly to every call, text, or email I sent. Sharon and I were in contact frequently and she quickly responded to my questions. Sharon and Ed are the best! I had an old rotten balcony that I hated. Now I have a balcony I love. To be honest in the beginning I wasnt even excited about the balcony being fixed in the first place. It was just something that needed to be done. But that that its complete. I love it and cant wait to use and show it off. Go with OC decks you will not be disappointed.

We spoke with owner Tim Gilliam who came out and did a bid for us on the above work. He was very professional, showed up on time and seems very knowledgeable in the subject area. He provided a very competitive bid, but we ended up going with another contractor who did not charge extra for the deck dismantling.

Our 40+ year-old house all of a sudden sprung multiple leaks. Both decks leaked and an area in the kitchen experienced increased moisture resulting in mildew inside cupboards. Four companies came to evaluate the problems. Ed from OC Decks provided the only solution that made sense and the only estimate that was reasonable. Before we signed the contract we experienced a water emergency when an upstairs pipe leaked. Ed came right over and provided fans and advice to prevent further damage. His company repaired the ceiling caused by the leaky pipe, rebuilt two decks, and took care of the moisture problem in the kitchen. The members of the crew that worked on our projects were craftsmen. Ed and his wife, Sharon, provided oversight of the job and were available whenever we needed them. It was a pleasure working with this local company. Our finished product was a reflection of the pride Sharon, Ed, and their crew took in their work. We will not hesitate calling them again if the situation arises and will highly recommend them to others.

Ed and Sharon were very prompt in providing an estimate. Ed was very thorough in diagnosing the problems, and presented a unique solution. In addition to correcting landscape issues and drainage around the slab he inserted stainless steel barriers to block any remaining seepage. Workmen showed up on time and were extremely neat over the 3 days they were here, leaving both inside and outside clean every night. They met our deadline of completion of inside work before it was time for Christmas decorations. Only time will tell if the problem is permanently solved, but steady rain over the last few days, including wind driven rain over the last couple of days, has shown no sign of seepage.

My husband and I were on contract to purchase a home. Our home inspector noticed some nail heads popping up on the deck and recommended we call in a deck expert. We were on a tight deadline to release contingencies and only two companies were able to come out immediately. Ed of OC Decks was one and the other wanted to charge for a quote. Ed met me and my realtor, along with the seller, and was able to see water seeping from the roof into the garage using his Infrared camera. Then we walked up to the deck and he noticed the nail heads popping and the instability in the deck. He said many times other companies are cheap and don't nail down the lath every so many inches, which causes the lath to come undone. He also pointed out that the surface was not smooth, which is another cheap trick other companies use. After taking a look at the deck Ed suspected the entire top would need to be pulled back and there would be some rotted plywood underneath which would need to replaced. He broke out the quote into 2 parts. We turned the quote into the seller and he was outraged and called in for another quote from the guy who repaired it last time. Needless to say the other guy was cheaper but all he wanted to do was a cheap patch job like he did last time. We closed on the home and trusted Ed to do the job THE RIGHT WAY. Not a bastardized patch job that would have to be fixed again and again. Ed and his crew got to work immediately. The guys worked long days and were always tidy. Within the first hour of ripping up the deck, Ed was there and brought me down a piece they tore off. The top layer was transparent and full of holes! No wonder it was leaking!! After getting down a few more layers, bad news was revealed. Some plywood was rotted but worst of all, a large part of the wall metal flashing had rusted and was damage. Therefore all of that had to be replaced. OC Decks knew we were already paying more than the sellers had given us toward repairs so they worked with us on price since we were paying a lot of pocket. Then the rain came :( They had set up a tarp to protect their work but it was not enough to keep out the storm. A lot of their efforts had been destroyed so they had to redo some of their work. In the end we now have a true WATER PROOF deck that is safe. OC Decks also guarantees their work for TEN YEARS not 5 like a bunch of others do. You get what you pay for. If you want it done right call OC Decks. Otherwise you will be throwing money down the drain with these other patch job guys.

Overall the project went exceptionally well. I had water leakage under my back deck down into the garage beneath it. The old deck surface was tile. Ed Kim assessed my deck, gave me a detailed explanation of what he intended to do and why he recommended doing it. He stated he would email me an estimate and did just that. I mulled over his proposal, comparing it with those of a couple of other contractors and decided to go with Ed. Aside from Ed's confident approach and clear presentation of his proposal, I felt that he and his wife Sharon were attentive to my concerns. They are excellent communicators. There was a minor problem the first day of work. The crew was late so I called Sharon. There had been a misunderstanding of when the work was supposed to start. However, Sharon responded right away and had her people out shorly thereafter to begin the demolition of the old deck surface. I had absolutely no problems with them after that. My situation was complicated by the fact that I live in a townhome complex. The governing association wanted their own worker to examine the under decking and replace any support beams as needed. I was a afraid that OC Decks would not want to collaborate with the association's worker. But they were, in fact, quite flexible. Ed checked out the association man's handiwork to make sure it was done properly before laying down the deck surface. That suggests to me that Ed is a man who intends to honor his guarantee. They left no messes at the completion of each phase of the project. They completed the entire project in a timely, efficient and accurate manner. They installed a 7 layer, water proof deck surface. The work has a 10 year guarantee subject to required resealing of the deck surface every 3 years. If you have any deck work that needs doing, hire OC Decks to do it. In my opinion, you will be glad you did.

Nearly perfect, really nice experience overall. Sharon, Ed, Lorenzo and Luis were great to wrok with, very prompt and good attecntion to detail.

They did perform the job. After the rains started the problem came back again. They said they would fix the problem, but they never did. We are very disappointed with the job.

OC Decks came and did an estiimate. The measurements took about 5 minutes and they had an estimate back to me in a few days. The price beat other places I had gotten estimates from by almost 50%. They scheduled a start date, were willing to re-schedule it for my convenience, then came on the scheduled date, took three and a half days, did not have to enter my house and were very punctual and careful and did a beautiful job. I will use them for the required maintenance three years from now.

The project became more involved than originally bid because no one knew the condition under the old cement topping until it was removed. It had to be completely rebuilt due to rot and termites and I was prepared for that possibility. The workers were xlnt and kept the area clean of debris daily and I now have a more substantial deck and waterproof top that will last many years. Ed and Sharon have talented workers who did over and above in securing the railing and replacing wood as needed. I would use them again as they did the project correctly without trying to cut any corners.

I found OC Decks on Angies list and emailed them late at night. They called me first thing and came out same day for an estimate. They quickly provided me with a competitive estimate and put me on their schedule within one week. Their workers Lorenzo and team showed up on time and did an excellent job. I was paying close attention to their work and they do it right. OC does new decks out of composite material and I am having them prepare an estimate for a new composite deck so I never have to repair wood and repaint again. Great job Mr. and Mrs. Kim! Working with OC Decks could not have been any easier. As we are a busy office, they were able to accomodate to work around our schedule more than a few times, due to noise at the start of the project. Updates were provided often and just overall a pleasure to work with.

Both Ed and Sharon were a delight to work with - I can't say enough positive things about them and the work they did. My husband and I aren't the most knowledgable people when it comes to construction, so anyone could've taken advantage of our ignorance. But when Ed was out to give us an estimate, he was honest and straight to the point - no high pressure sales pitches. You could tell he knew what he was doing and just wanted to give us a well-constructed and attractive deck. Ed and his workers kept my husband and I informed throughout the whole process. After each day, they'd show and explain to us what they'd done and why they had done it. We felt 110% comfortable putting our leaky deck in their capable hands. What amazed me even more was how hard Ed's workers worked. They arrived each day at around 9AM and sometimes didn't leave until 7PM. AND they worked on Saturday (and didn't charge us weekend/overtime fees). The final cost of the entire job was only $400 over the initial quote, but that was only because, once they opened up the old deck, more wood was needed. We got three quotes and Ed's was the cheapest by about $1,200. Cost was DEFINITLEY a factor here, however, my husband and I are also the type of people that will pay for excellent quality - and that's absolutley what we got. If you're looking for honest, trust-worthy people to will give you a great quality product for a very fair price, look no further than OC Decks.

The work they did worked out very well. I would recommend them to my friends and family members. There was nothing bad with what they did. Everything was good. They were very good. I didn’t get many bids but I think their price was okay. I will use them again in the future if I need to.

They were a lot more expensive so we didn’t use them.

Danny (supported by his wife Sharon) provide a detailed bid and job description. His crew showed up on time and finished the job ahead of schedule. There was some un-foreseen work that upped the cost of the original bid. There was no way to anticipate this occurrence. The cost increase for the work provided was reasonable. The crew did a great job and left the job site each day in a reasonably clean state. Of all the trades I've worked with OC Decsk stands out as a very professional operation. I highly recommend them. I like working with people who are passionate about their work. That absolutely describes Danny!!!

They were very responsive. They were out here walking the job the day after I contacted them. He has very good knowledge of the work and what needs to be done.

The work was super. I thought they were great. They were neat and tidy. They didn’t disrupt the house. They were very industrious and kept working very hard. They finished the job in about five days, which was good. They did a great job. Overall, they were excellent. I didn’t get competitive bids. So, I hope I got a good price. Everything about them was very good. I would definitely use their services in the future too.

Novices at this and having never hired a contractor before we first obtained 3 estimates as recommended. Ed at OCDecks came out promptly to evaluate our project. When small but additional work was discovered to be necessary for proper waterproofing, they contacted us in writing for approval before they proceeded. We were very satisfied and pleased with the results. Finally, their contract came with 10 year warranty terms. I think it is clear that for decks and waterproofing it pays to go with a specialist.
