First visit to fix door alarm; tech could not diagnose problem. He said they would call later to discuss next step. Never called and no record of further discussion according to Coastline. They had closed the job and marked as "completed". Still waiting for second visit after complaining to KitchenAid customer service. Have a feeling that these contract warranty services hire contract techs that are only interested in fast repairs. Wish I wasn't stuck with warranty service providers, I haven't found one that is very good.

Coast Appliance was contacted to trouble shoot the problem and a technician came out on 4/5/2013 took about 1/2 hour to diagnose the problem- leak in the sealed system. He left after getting my signature which authorized replacement of the sealed system for an estimated labor cost of $1200. The parts were covered under warranty. The sealed system was replaced on 5/16/2013 approximately 6 weeks after the problem was diagnosed. Coast Appliance was telling me that their supplier was not shipping them the correct parts. This is a Jade refrigerator made by JennAir and after me contacting them was very apologetic regarding our problem but of no use in solving the delivery problem. I have a hard time believing that Coast could not have but more pressure on the east coast supplier or tried other supply sources to help solve our problem. We had to go out and buy another freezer to save our frozen food. I requested several times to have the parts shipped overnight or do something to expedite the repair to no avail. The repair tech who changed out the sealed system took 4 1/2 hours and he was very good. However doing the math at the time of payment gave me a $267/hour technician. Remember, the sealed system was covered unde warranty. No attempt was made by Coast to make ammends for the botched repair cycle.
Description of Work: Replaced sealed system which includes the compressor.

Coastline Appliance Service is a total rip-off . Certified by Kitchen-aid / Whirlpool which is the only reason I used them. The factory scheduled the service call originally, which was changed by Coastline. The factory told me the part and the part number I needed so I passed that on to Coastline. $89 to come first time + $40 diagnosis charge. The diagnosis consisted of taking model number and serial number off the oven door that I had already given to the factory and to Coastline. Did not lift a tool. $85 to come the second time + $40 per 1/2 hr. It took 15 minutes to change the part but they charged $ 80. I tried to talk to the Service Manager but he failed to return 3 calls.

I purchased this refrigerator/freezer on 9/17/12. This is my husband's garage refrigerator. I loaded it up with his beer and other drinks and loaded the freezer with many pounds of meat and other already frozen items. I checked the refrigerator temperature a day after installation and it appeared to be working properly (it's very important that the beer is the proper temperature). Due to family situations, the appliance was left untouched, unopened, for about 1.5 months at which time when I opened the freezer I discovered a horrible smell as the meat had spoiled, the ice cream was watery and the freezer, although colder than room temperature, was obviously not workign properly. I then set up some digital thermometers to check the temperature in both freezer and refrigerator and started recording the temperatures. Once I had a record, I telephoned Frigidaire and they gave me Coastline Appliance Repair's number. Coastline scheduled an appointment and the repairman arrived at the agreed-upon time. When explaining to him how my food had spoiled and how ice cream became soft, he told me that his ice cream was soft, implying that was normal. He checked several things on the back of the refrigerator, said the amperage on something was a bit low, told me that my digital thermometers were no good and didn't record accurately, said the freezer needed a "frost kit" which he would order and started to leave. I then asked him for some kind of paperwork which he filled out and gave to me. I noticed after he left that on that paperwork not only did he order a "frost kit," but also ordered a compressor. After a couple of weeks and several telephone calls to Coastline Appliance, another repairman, I believe his name was Te, came out. He checked out the refrigerator, pulling it out from the wall and undoing the back, also undoing the inside back of the freezer and showing me that the coils back there were lightly frosted over which indicated the refrigerator didn't need a new compressor. He then took silicone sealer and meticulously applied it all around the freezer and refrigerator door telling me that there was a factory defect and that was the problem. He didn't install the new compressor, said the amperage problem the other repairman mentioned was normal, and apparently a "frost kit" is a tube of silicone seal because it was never mentioned again. He also told me my digital thermometers were no good and told me to get simple refrigerator-freezer thermometers for accurate measurements. I then got two of the type of thermometers he suggested along with keeping my digital thermometers and started religiously recording the temperature of the refrigerator and freezer. (Of note, although the temperatures varied between the analog and digital thermometers, the differences were slight.) The temperature problem is primarily in the freezer although the refrigerator will occasionally get a bit warm, one time as warm as 44 deg. The freezer has fluctuated from a low of -18 (which happend one time when I turned down the freezer one notch and the compressor was running) to up to 38, with the freezer temperature averaging about 20-22 degrees F. I called Frigidaire again and the very nice lady did some calls to the Coastline Appliance for me (apparently they led her to believe they had installed a new compressor but perhaps it was just a misunderstanding). She asked me to give a repair one more try and today was the last day I will ever have anyone from Coastline Appliance do any "repairs." Te again came out and said there was nothing wrong with my freezer. When he was here the compressor was running and the temperature eventually got down to about 1 degree F while he was here and all my recordings of the temperature, well, let's just say as far as he was concerned were of no import. The fact that the ice cream in the freezer was mushy didn't seem to mean anything to him. Water dripping down from the top of the freezer was normal according to him. Ice cubes melted together was normal. Everything was working fine according to him. He explained that temperature swings of 20 degrees in the freezer are normal. My meticulous temperature recordings showing temperature swings between 30, 40, and one time 50, was ignored. My telling him that ice cube trays filled in the morning and by 8:00 p.m. that night, over 10 hours later, hadn't frozen was normal. I give up on Coastline Appliance Repair.
Description of Work: They were supposed to fix my BRAND NEW Frigidaire refrigerator/freezer--the freezer has wild temperature swings, from -18 to 30-40 degrees in short times. This was a warranty repair. I had over 40 lbs of meat, among other items in the freezer spoil because of the defect in this appliance.

TO: Undisclosed listing FROM: Dr. John Dettoni DATE: August 26, 2011 RE: Appliance service from Coastline Appliance Service This is a review of Coastline Appliance Service, 16932 Gothard Street Suite L Huntington Beach, CA 92647 phone: 714-847-9505 On Thursday, August 25, 2011 a Coastline Appliance Service (CAS) technician came to fix our KitchenAid side-by-side refrigerator/freezer. The appliance is 8.5 years old. The problem was that the fresh food side was not getting below 43-44 degrees F. Forty-four degrees is the critical point of temperature to keep food from spoiling. Obviously we were flirting with a problem. History: this KitchenAid has been a continual pain, but has worked after being repaired numerous times. On August 1, 2011 an A & E Factory Service workman tore apart the freezer back panel and supposedly fixed the air from the freezer to the fresh food section. Apparently, the fresh food section never got much cold air since it stayed at 44 degrees F consistetnly. The freezer part was about -10 to -20 degrees ? plenty cold. On August 25, 2011 a CAS serviceman came and decided that the vent between freezer and fresh food sections was not working properly, hence the higher temperature of the fresh food section. He worked in both the freezer and fresh food sections and then he ordered several parts and departed. On August 26, 2011, I checked the ice maker ? no ice being made; temperature now not -20 but +20!! Ice cream soft and no ice! And fresh food section over 45 degrees. If this is fixing the problem, I hate to see what not fixing is. On August 26, I called CAS and asked for an emergency service call to repair the repair of yesterday. I was told no one would come until August 30th, 4 days from now. The so called repair of yesterday left our refrigerator in worse shape than the day before and no one to fix it. In the "infinite" wisdom of the CAS person, when the parts come, the problem will go away. NOT! As far as I can figure out, the parts are totally unrelated to lack of ice and the warm temperatures in both sides of the refrigerator. Also, the parts will not be available until later next week, not in four days, 2 of which are weekend days. The repair man left the refrigerator in worse shape than before he came, but CAS would not or could not understand this no matter how logical it seemed to me: the freezer and ice maker worked fine before the "repair man" and didn?t after, ergo, the repair made it worse! Such logic escaped CAS. Why? Because the person at CAS said he did not want to send someone from Huntington Beach to San Clemente, CA to find out what the problem is. Just wait 4 days for the service call ? which will not have the magical parts! Thus my conclusion: 1). CAS has incompetent repair men. 2). They do not care about customers. 3). Whoever answered the call at CAS was incompetent or not very bright, evidently not able to follow simple logic: if it worked before the service call and did not immediately afterwards, chances are the service call messed things up. Too simple to miss unless not bright enough to think. Well, what we have now is MISERABLY BAD, UNACCEPTABLY DESCRUCTIVE SERVICE. If anyone uses this "service" company, beware! They don?t stand by their service and basically tell you to bug off! They will come when they are good and ready. If food spoils, send the bill for the spoiled food to the appliance service contract people. CAS is not responsible to fix something that has gone wrong BECAUSE of their service man. So, for all who expect good service, DON?T USE Coastline Appliance Service! You are warned! john m. detton, ph.d. 949-498-1078

They installed a heating element in my refrigerator, and the part was defective. However, they weren't able to catch that. I had to hire another company to figure out what the problem was. Also, they installed an ice maker just one year ago, but it's already malfunctioning. I feel that they really ripped me off, and I was incredibly inconvenienced by them. It was a very unfortunate experience.
Description of Work: A heating element in my refrigerator wasn't working. I called them to get it fixed.

Very badly! The tech was a boor who more or less had to be physically pushed out of the house when it became apparent he had no intention of admitting there was a problem or attempting to correct it. He in essence accused us of lying about the problem and became very surly and rude. He was at the house two times and, although not the worse case during his first visit, became extremely negative and argumentative the second visit. We showed him pulled fibers, the damaged towels and exactly where in the machine the fibers were being pulled, but none of that mattered to him. We believe that he was sent the second time even though we requested a different tech, because he was the company's "tough guy" who would put customers into their place if they stood their ground.
Description of Work: Coastline Appliance performed warranty work on our Whirlpool washer. The washer (Calypso GVW9959K) pulls threads from the fabric while washing the clothes. We believe that the technician (so called "senior tech") who they sent out was their "closer" who had no intentions of fixing the problem, but who was only coming to give us the party line and accuse us of making up a problem. No actual correction was made to the machine and the problem continues. The tech told us to run the washer on only low gentle speed (the second lowest of nine settings) in order not to have the problem occur. Makes no sense!!
