I cannot say enough positive things about CertaPro. We called them based on the many positive reviews on Angie’s List but when I first called them, I was told that it would be at least a week before someone could be sent out to meet with us since they were so busy. While that indicates to me that they were a fairly strong and solid company, it didn’t fit with our timeline so I pretty much wrote them off. However, I received a phone call the following day from Matthew who said that he could meet with me that very day to go over our needs. We had been meeting with many other painting companies to get estimates and a feel for the type of company they were. Having been burned by contractors before, we were being very careful. When we met with Matthew, we were immediately impressed with his thoroughness, professionalism and ability to put us at ease and explain the process in a way that allowed us to understand both the scope of work involved and what we would need to do to make the project a success. We have many projects to do on our home and Matthew stated that painting should be last (even if it meant delaying or eliminating the need for CertaPro). We met with several other companies, getting multiple estimates/quotes before we decided that CertaPro was the best choice and we signed the contract with Matthew. We did not base our decision solely on cost, though their quote was right where we estimated it should be. Some were very high and some low and the timeline varied from one day to two weeks. We based our decision partly on cost but mostly on the professionalism of the company and our “feel” for the type of work we would receive. We wanted quality, not just inexpensive. Our house is a challenge to paint because of the cathedral ceilings and acoustic. It makes it expensive and difficult. We have also had part of it painted before but it needed to be redone because the paint was chipping off due to the fact that the wrong type of paint was used. It was piecemeal and complicated. All told, we were painting three rooms, misc. doors and frames and the ceiling in the breakfast nook. That is what was on the original contract. We also asked for a quote for baseboards in the hallway upstairs. Unlike other companies that we asked for additional information from, Matthew called us the very next day with a quote for the baseboards, just as he assured us he would. Before I go further, may I state that I have never worked with anyone with as much patience as Matthew. He also has thorough and solid follow-through. I tend to micromanage and ask a million questions and he patiently answered each one, even the least important ones. I must have sent him at least 50 emails with question after question and he was patient and reassured me with each one, putting my mind at ease and basically walking me through the entire process. We was willing to work with us on issues that they usually don’t handle and provided as much, if not more, information that we needed to make the project go smoothly. He never told me what I should have known – that they were a professional company and to let them do their job. Like I said before, I am a micromanager and though I was being too needy with wanting information and asking him a multitude of questions, he never failed to respond or lost his patience. He was wonderful and I would recommend CertaPro just for his help, though there are many more reasons to select CertaPro. Now for the project: We made changes after changes. First we added the baseboard replacement in the hallway for $200. Then after much negotiation, we settled on a cost of $400 for replacing the baseboards on the entire top floor (den, office, bedroom and hallway, a total of around 120 linear feet). And since we already had to empty the office for carpeting (a separate project) and baseboards, we added the office to the painting schedule, giving us a total of 4 rooms and a hallway to paint. The ceilings average 17’ high, though some were vaulted, others flat @ 17’. The total cost of the painting/baseboards, including labor, supplies and tax, was $3470. The first day of work was a Monday and the crew was scheduled to arrive at 9 am. At 9:20, I called Matthew who informed me that the crew was delayed at a meeting at their main office (20 miles away), but they were on their way and should arrive around 9:30. They did arrive at 9:40 and I walked through the project/contract with Gilbert. Due to the changes made in the intervening weeks from the signing of the contract to project start date, Gilbert wanted to make certain that he fully understood the scope of work. After signing the revised contract, I gave Gilbert my paint selections and he left to match the colors, leaving Miguel behind to prep. Gilbert was gone about 3 hours and when he returned, there was an added member of the crew, for a total of three, and they immediately set to work prepping for painting the ceiling. That first day they were able to apply two coats to all the ceilings and caulked the edges to eliminate any appearance of cracks. We had piled all our belongings (and we have many) in the middle of the rooms per Matthew’s instructions and they were able to cover them and spray the ceilings without disturbing the piles (and piles). They also repaired some earthquake damage and fixed some of the mistakes made by the previous contractor. While the house smelled terribly “painty” that first day, it was an excellent first step. They worked steadily until around 7 pm in order to maintain the schedule. The project was originally slated to take 2-3 days. Due to the added work, the project was going to take a total of 4 days and Gilbert wanted to shorten that as much as possible per my request (if possible). The second day, one member of the crew arrived just before 9 and began priming the doors that had to be painted in Acrylic (almost everything else was being painted in latex). All the trim was acrylic, meaning that they had to use a special primer and that it was going to take longer for the paint to dry. Again, an amazing amount of prep work went into setting up. I think they spent three times as long preparing to paint than they did painting. Two men worked steadily the entire second day, priming and painting the doors and walls, endlessly climbing up and down the ladder to reach the ceilings. They removed all light switch and outlet covers as well as the door knobs and some lights in their entirety (capping the electrical) in order to ensure that the paint was smooth and even and that there were no lines around the fixtures. The prep they put in to protect the new carpet was very effective and there wasn’t a single drop on the floor. I didn’t see any paint any place it wasn’t supposed to be. The lines were very smooth and even between the walls and ceiling and the transitions from color to color. They (especially Gilbert), did an excellent job. The third day, Gilbert was here all day but the other person left halfway through the day, and may I say we are glad he did. The reason I waited almost a month to submit my review is that we were still putting together everything that the painters did. Specifically the person whose name I do not know, Gilbert introduced himself, the other person did not. He put the light cover back on the light and left the wires sticking out and didn’t center the light over the box so we had to redo it. We also had to hunt down the rest of the screws for the light switch covers because he only put in one a piece instead of two. We finally found them on the kitchen counter (the one room in which they didn’t remove any covers. We were quite annoyed by this. He also left the pendant light crooked in the entry way. All of this had to be fixed, which was the point of hiring someone else, I have trouble with this stuff since I’m disabled, but it had to be done. But this was just this one person; overall, we were very pleased with everyone and everything else. Anyway, Gilbert went above and beyond. We have molding in the sitting room running up and across the walls in the sitting room and we asked them to paint it the same color as the rest of the trim instead of the color of the wall. It was a simple request but Gilbert turned it so much more. He got extra molding and filled in the holes in the upright molding, making it look MUCH better than it did before. It looks built in and beautiful. They moved A LOT of furniture, and Gilbert did a lot of this himself. He did other extra work too, like painting the door frame in the bedroom, touching up paint in the bedroom (the one room they weren’t painting) and a few other things. Like I said, he was GREAT. Day 4, Gilbert finished up and moved furniture back. He left us a lot of extra paint so we can use it for other projects. Gilbert and Matthew were absolutely wonderful and the overall experience was the best one we’ve had yet with any contractor. By far!! Since we’ve hired so many, this is saying something!

The estimate process was easy to schedule on line and the estimate provided at the end of the visit. The painting project was completed on schedule and overall we are quite pleased with the outcome. The cost was a little on the high end but we wanted to go with a licensed and insured contractor.

Had Matthew Snaveley out x2 re: scope of work, measurements etc. Provided Estimate. Told us since house built in 1976 it might have lead paint and that same could involve an add'l $500 cost for proper abatement unless we had a report done. We opted to have a Lead report done which revealed we were in the clear so saved a few hundred $$ in the process and the report will remain valid through the years when the time comes we eventually choose to sell the house. We applied the savings + Angie's List discount to upgrade to Duration Sherwin Williams paint that will hopefully last 10-15 yrs. CertaPro only has a paint contract with Sherwin Williams and not Dunn Edwards (my 1st choice) but.... oh well. CertaPro's paint discount also did NOT extend to the purchase of any sample size paints and brushes. Work scheduled and work crew arrived, pretty much on time, July 2, 3, 5 and 6 (off on July 4th at our request). Had to remind Matthew I wanted him here to start the project Mon. July 2nd. He went around entire house, with me, to ID to Crew Supr Fernando and his guys what needed to be done. Good thing as Fernando had questions re: diameter of replacement boards, where to cut existing wood trim and concern re: me having Orkin chemically treat the bare new boards with Premise 2 (for termites) prior to same being primed and painted. . Work crew friendly and were hard workers. Cleaned up the place pretty well at the end of each of the work days. Responsive to questions from me and my husband as well. Scope of work included painting the 3 exterior lights but evidently not the paint color I had indicated so we had to pay Fernando $12 for him to go buy the paint to do so. Had thought that was all included but apparently it wasn't.What we hadn't counted on was having all the windows in the house taped with non see-through plastic at day's end on July 3rd in anticipation of paint spraying on July 5th. Darkened the house interior and really odd not to be able to see any natural lighting beyond one sliding door in the entire house. If you are claustrophobic (and we are not), make sure all work done on consecutive days! Freaked out 1 of my 2 medium parrots in the house as well I may add. Work was done Friday July 6th by Noon. Walked around to check out everything. Had the crew fill in (with putty that they also painted for me) a half moon shape in the wood of an existing damaged part of the back patio so appreciated that. Paid the entire job in Full at the END of the job. No downpayment ever required- also appreciated!

Salesman, Matt Swaverly, was prompt and responsive (during the sales process), unfortunately he over promised and under delivered. Painted front door, some trim, and shutters. Hardware on front door was not removed and tape was not adequately applied so door handle and locks have paint on them. Additionally, they painted door while it was closed, so edges did not get painted. They had to come out a few days later to touch it up. Power washing was supposed to include window squeeging, however there are tons of water spots so it's obvious they never did it and have yet to repond to me. Update: Owner Pat Wade came out, looked at problem areas, and made sure they got fixed. Front door had to be repainted twice, window cleaning was outsourced to KC Powerwash, and back railing was touched up. While it's unfortunate, for both of us, that we had to go through all this, it's very good to know that the owner cares about the company's reputation and will see to it that the job is done right - if not at first, eventually.

The experience was okay overall. The painter was good; I really appreciated his attitude, Ultimately, I happy with the end result.

They were very good! We really liked them. They were reasonably-priced, showed up early, and cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job overall and I would absolutely call them again.

They were great overall! I thought they were very professional, and their price was pretty competitive, but a little on the expensive side. They were informative and I’d absolutely recommend them.

They did a beautiful job! Not an ounce of paint was left on the floor or furniture. I liked the professionalism; the person that came out to quote the price came back to make sure everything was done properly. At first, they thought it’d take two employees, but ended up only taking one person. We ended up paying less than what was quoted. The job took two days, and they did a fantastic job overall.

Overall, the estimate process was fine. The employee, Patrick, arrived on time, was very professional and followed up. We had no problems, we had just used another painter before that we wound up going with for this project.

The workers arrived in the morning and worked till 6 (daylight savings time) They stayed with the job unitl they finished, no jumping around to other jobs Cleaned up after themselves Worked very well on their own, no supervision If they had any questions before they did a specific job, they always asked first to be sure When they finished at the end of the day, they told me they were finished. At the end of the job, we walked around the perimiter of the bldg. to make sure all the work was completed. Very professional, courteous, timely to the work site. The owner was very professional, knows his job, bids were introduced in a timely manner. I will definitely be using them again, this time for interior painting. I hope your experience will be a happy experience as mine was.

They did an excellent job in a short period of time. There was a little paint due even after they were finished and they responded and corrected it. They were very prompt, punctual and finished on time with no changes to their cost. They have great communication skills with the customers. I have recommended them to others.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I LIKED IMMEDIATELY ABOUT THIS COMPANY WAS THAT PAT WADE GAVE ME A QUOTE THE SAME DAY HE LOOKED AT THE WORK TO BE DONE. I HAD SEVERAL OTHERS OVER AND NOT ONLY WERE THEIR QUOTES HIGHER,BUT THEY HAD TO EMAIL THEM TO ME IN A COUPLE OF DAYS. ONCE THE DEAL WAS STRUCK THE GUYS WERE ON TIME AND WORKED STEADLY TO COMPLETE THE JOB. OF COURSE THERE WAS SOME INCONVIENCE. MAINLY FOR ME, KEEPING MY TWO CATS OUT OF THE WAY AND CONFINED TO AREAS WHERE THE GUYS WERE NOT WORKING. THAT WAS NOT A HIGH PRICE TO PAY WHEN THE FINISHED PRODUCT WAS SO GOOD. The painters - the actual workers - worked hard to do a good job, however, the owner was rude, the supervisor was unprofessional, unprepared and tried to take short cuts. The supervisor was working for his own company at the same time that he was working for Certa Pro, so he was ineffective. This company required too much of my time and supervision, on top of being expensive.

The owner, Pat Wade, came by the same day I contacted his answering service. He had a computer and printer with him and printed out his bid after inspecting our house and discussing our needs and options. He also left a folder with complete information about his company, references, warranty information, etc. He offered to provide paint samples if we needed them. I had several discussions with Pat by phone and email before accepting his proposal. I decided to upgrade the type of paint he proposed for the wood surfaces and also have them hand paint rather than spray the wood sidings; the additional cost was minimal. I didn't get any bids from other contractors. The one other contractor I contacted came by to look at the house but for an unknown reason didn't submit a bid. I thought that CertPro's price was good based on reviews I read on Angies List for comparable jobs. The quality of work is more important to me than cost; based on his reviews and references I was confident that they would do an excellent job. Pat made arrangements for me pick up six quart samples of paint colors for us to try out and also provided brushes. That was very helpful, since the actual colors when applied to stucco or wood surfaces appeared somewhat different than on the color charts. On the first day of the job, I discussed with the lead painter what and how to apply the three colors we wanted. They power washed the house, patched and repaired the stucco, and chaulked the fascia board corners and other areas. The job was completed in three days. They come back for a few hours the next day to repaint one area a different color; a minor misunderstanding about what we wanted. Pat called once during the job and came by also at the end to check on the work. Overall, I was very pleased with the results and the interactions with Pat. At the end of the job, I pointed out to the painters some dry painter splatters on the concrete that they missed and needed to clean up which they did. A few weeks after the job, I noticed some more paint splatters on some of the brickworks that they missed, but given the scope of the work these are relatively minor oversights.

The exterior of my house hasn't been painted in over 20 years and was in pretty bad shape. The stucco was falling off or non-existent in some places and there were holes in the stucco as well . The paint on the fascia, soffit and wood siding was peeling off. And, there was mold on one corner of the house. I interviewed 6 different painting company's before deciding on CertaPro Painting. I chose CertaPro because Pat satisfied everything on my 'want' list for choosing a painting company such as using quality products, professionalism, detailed proposal, cost, and timely start/completion dates. Pat Wade came to my house and we talked extensively about what needed to be done, my concerns, cost, starting and completion dates. He also offers a discount to Angie members. He couldn't have been more professional and courteous. Fernando and his crew arrived on time on the start date. Pat, Fernando and I did a walk through to once again go over what needed to be done, my concerns, and problem area's. Throughout the four day process, Fernando and his crew were courteous, professional, and always left my property clean. They did an excellent job prepping and addressing every issue, going above and beyond to meet my expectations. I would highly recommend Pat if you're looking for a contractor with integrity and a crew that is professional and does quality work.

A week after we were given an estimate on the job, the two painters--Fernando and Antonio--arrived as scheduled to begin preparing and painting the inside of the house. Both men were professional and highly competent painters who worked well as a team. They were both very helpful and cooperative. For example, Fernando helped me choose exactly the right colors. And when I asked to have the woodwork in the entryway redone in a semi-gloss rather than an eggshell finish as the wall was, Antonio obliged--no problem. The inside was completed in three days, and on the last day Antonio power washed the outside of the house. Because they were doing such a good job, we decided to have them do the stucco as well as the trim on the outside, even though we had not initially contracted for that. We were not pressured to do this, but decided on our own because we were pleased with the job the two were doing. In addition, Fernando showed us how we could subtly change the color on the stucco as well as change the color of the trim and use a semi-gloss finish to improve the look of the outside, all with just one coat of paint. He was cheerful and patient as we changed and then unchanged our minds on what colors to use. The outside of the house was completed in two days, so the entire job, begun Monday morning, was completed late Friday afternoon. We are very happy with the results.

We had just bought the house and needed the work to be started and finished on time so that carpet installers could work after that. I had my doubts they could get the work done in just 2 days, but his guys managed to do it and the results are excellent. We had a slight miscommunication over the master bath - the painters had offered to install the medicine cabinet for me, which was missing, but didn't paint down the wall far enough to hide the unpainted wall where the old cabinet had covered up. I thought the medicine cabinet had hardware included with it, but it didn't so they weren't able to install it. I didn't realize the problem until I installed it a few days after they left. Also, for some reason in the master bath they did not remove the switchplate covers to paint (they did in all the other rooms). I think they may have been a bit confused on which bathroom was the masterbath as they seemed to think it was the one upstairs, which is for the "jack & jill' setup there. Pat offered to have them come back out and redo the problems in the bathroom, but at that point we had discovered a sewer problem that would involve tearing up the floor and possibly part of a wall, so I asked him to just provide me with more paint so I could do the touchups myself after the plumbers were done. He had the paint to me that day. I would definitely use this company again. (I've since done the touch up work myself and the paint was a perfect match).

The estimate process was straightforward, thorough, and detailed. We had received several estimates from other companies and theirs was the most in-depth as to exactly what we were getting for our money. Perhaps most critically, among all the companies whom we solicited for estimates, CertaPro were the only company to mention and test for lead. Our house was built in the 50s and still had the original trim paint, which absolutely contained lead. I shudder to think what the results would have been with another company that didn't bother to look out for lead. Patrick did a fantastic job explaining everything in detail, and the price of the work was definitely fair. The lead abatement process was handled with all appropriate precaution and took a full day. My father is a general contractor with lead abatement certification, and when discussing the steps CertaPro was taking he was very impressed. After the lead paint was dealth with, the rest of the cleaning, repairs, and painting went off perfectly on schedule and with fantastic results. Throughout the entire process, Patrick, Phillip and their CertaPro crew were professional, prompt, and courteous. They cleaned up their equipment every day, gave us full status updates, and graciously answered all of our numerous questions through the process. Phone calls were answered promptly, and they were also very tolerant of my wife and I flip-flopping on our house color a couple times. =) We could not be more pleased with how our house turned out. We will definitely be passing along their card to our friends and family.

They were a really great company to work with. They got back to me very quickly and gave me a very quick estimate. The workers were very nice, and they did their job very well. Everything was done within three days. I would rate them highly and would definitely use them again in the future.

Pat Wade, Owner, met with us at a designated time and date...and was prompt. Completed a 65 minute meeting and walk around the property, explaining exactly what the procedure would be as to prower washing, patching, etc. The estimated time from beginging to end. The special paints - colors and manufacturer - which we requested were used. Due to the location of our home, we had an unusal painting request for the entire backside, which was to use elastomeric paint, to ensure total waterproofing. Pat provided a professional proposal at the end of our conversation, which we accepted. As promised, the powerwashing crew was prompt, courteous and thorough. On the next day, Fernando (crew forman) and his two assistants were prompt, and did an excellent 'prepping' of the home. Painting began later that day and for the next three days. The painters were thorough, courteous and professional. Always in discussion with me as to their performance and if it was with my approval. The went the extra mile, which resulted in an superb job. Although Pat's proposal was not the lowest, his presentation overshadowed the difference in cost. I would recommend CertaProPainters to any of my neighbors. The have seen for themselves are are impressed with the work.

From start to finish, the project went better than I expected. The owner, Pat Wade, responded to me quickly and professionally, giving me a reasonable estimate, explaining the process and answering all questions I had. He was also available by phone at any time and responded promptly to all of my calls. He also provided me a written contract and written waranties with respect to the work to be completed. The painters arrived at the exact time agreed to and were efficient, industrious, friendly and professional at all times. They took care with respect to the landscaping and other items not to be painted. Importantly, both the owner and the foreman kept me informed each step of the way in terms of what would be painted each day, and when the work would be completed. Having had bad luck with other contractors in the past, I was intially a bit anxious about how the project would go, but relied on the good ratings I saw on Angie's List. Certa-Pro Painters of Huntington Beach, and in particular Pat Wade and Jose, renewed my faith in contractors,and I would highly recommend them.

The crew was prompt and courteous. The work was neat, done quickly, and very professionally. The results are very satisfactory. This is a great company to work with.

It was overall a good experience and much better than the kind of service one generally gets in Southern Cal. The service is professional and responsive to questions and needs. Paint job was good. The paint team was flexible with certain timing issues I had. They take care and are diligent about their taping. They don't ask for $$ until the job is done and were friendly. It's really the way to go. I think is was good value and a job well done.

His quote came in a little bit lighter than the other quotes I received. He was very good, he was punctual, and he followed up. I was very impressed and I enjoyed the interaction I had with him. He was extremely professional and I was pleased with the quality of his service.
