Our thermostat was behaving erratically, turning the furnace on/off at undesired times. We called Air Vista (based on reviews here) for some troubleshooting. Gary picked up the phone right away and we set up an appointment for a few days later. He happened to be nearby the day before our scheduled appointment, so was able to come early. He arrived right when he said he would. Based on my description of the problem and looking at the furnace and thermostat, he thought that the thermostat had broke. Our furnace filter was also really dirty. He had a similar thermostat model and filter in his truck, so he was able to replace both. He helped program the thermostat too, and gave tips on maintaining the furnace/system. We had some trouble getting enough air in one of our bedrooms and he suggested trying a low-cost solution first, rather than something big, like a bigger air duct or another vent altogether. He was very quick, clean, professional, and patient with our toddler who kept trying to share his toys. I'm sure there are cheaper guys out there, but I'm really happy with the responsiveness and work.

I called in Gary Krautkramer from Air Vista in Huntington Beach to get the truth after Robert Davis from Cole Services in Westminster told my 95-year-old mother that she had toxic waste asbestos insulation in her attic and around her heater ducts and that both insulation and heater ducts needed replacement to preserve her health. For this, they would bag up the old insulation as toxic waste, replace it with fiberglass and replace the ducts in the attic. They would charge $9,000. I nearly fell out of my chair. Gary came over and my husband and I met him at my Mom's house and the three of us went into the attic to investigate. None of what Robert Davis said was true, said Gary. He could see no asbestos. And we could see that the insulation was excellent. Deep cellulose insulation completely covering blown-in fiberglass. And the ducts were in OK shape. And he demonstrated that the heater would not burn up because the ducts were the wrong size, as Robert had said. We all owe Gary a debt of gratitude for giving it to us straight: being honest and responsive, punctual and professional.

I had 4 others investigate this heating problem and ultimately went with Air Vista. The person (can't remember his name) was extremely courteous and very conscientious about not making a mess in my home (for example, by placing down towels in which to lay parts on, etc). He spent about 30 minutes diagnosing the problem, didn't demand a service call fee right away, and said he would email a breakdown of the cost (which he did). The cost, which was about $855, was significantly cheaper than what others estimated (one non-Angie's list person wanted $1950). My heater works fine now and I am very pleased.

I had someone from Lewis Air come by two weeks ago who tried to sell me a new unit and said I could have a gas leak, my house could blow up and may have a carbon monoxide leak. I told him I wanted to ask someone else. I then tried Angie's list for the first time and am SO glad I did. Gary with Air Vista was very highly rated and I agree with everyone. He found the malfunctioning part and replaced it quickly. He also let me know since my unit is old (built in 1985) that other parts could break in the future. He quoted me a price on a new unit that is nearly half of what the other guy said. I'm holding off on a new unit for now, but will definitely call Gary when that time comes. I highly recommend Air Vista.

Gary was extremely polite and professional. He arrived at exactly the time he'd promised. He showed me the problem in layman's terms and I understood completely. We discussed him ordering the unit and he told me the time he could get it installed. Unfortunately, one of my sons remembered a family member who is in the same business and who would do the job for $600. less than Gary's proposal. I felt bad about not using Gary, but in these trying financial times, I had to resort to family. However, since family is in Escondido, I plan on using Gary whenever I have a need, because he is local and very close to my home, and I appreciate how friendly he still was when I told him I had to cancel.

Our 15 year old furnace stopped working the week before Thanksgiving, during the first relatively cold spell of the season. We were also concerned about our 45 year old leaky air ducts, which contained asbestos and were sucking in dirt from the attic. After our old heating company confirmed it made sense to replace the furnace and gave us a quote, we called Air Vista for a second quote. They came out promptly and gave a comparable quote. They also proposed some higher end equipment and services that we felt gave us better long term reliability and comfort. They were knowledgeable about getting the most from current tax credits and gas company rebates ($1700 total). The environmental crew that removed the asbestos ducting was prompt, courteous, clean and safe. The new furnace and ducting were installed with the same high standards, including rebalancing the air flows and moving the thermostat to improve performance. They worked an extra long day to get us heat a night earlier than planned. They listened to our concerns and provided us with greatly improved comfort throughout the house. All work was done professionally and up to local codes. They followed up a few days later to make sure we got any needed adjustments to give us maximum performance and comfort.

I was very pleased with the price and service. Expertly answered my questions as I decided what equipment to install. The installation went very smoothly. I would certainly recommend him to others.

Great! The estimate was more than competitive, and Gary was able to explain about the installation very well. He arrived on time for appointments, worked very professionally, and cleaned up after himself. He even called me a week later to make sure everything was alright and to remind me to run the furnace one more time before it gets too cool. I would recommend without reservation.

Came the next day to examine problems wiht AC system, gave an estimate for various items and returned within a few days to do all the work. Professional, prompt, knowledgable, reasonable price, nice to work with.

Gary showed up and he was ok during the estimate. I chose another company instead.

They were efficient, neat, and I was very satisfied with their service. I would definitely recommend this company to others.

It was a really great experience. Gary came out gave us all the pros and cons of a few different approaches. He took the time to explain all the nuances and helped me get a sense of the job. The job was started and completed in a little more than a day. The work he did was exceptonally neat and he made the effort to maximise the space available in our attic. They were very clean and did their best to minimise the impact on our family while the work was being done. Gary came back after the job was complete to make sure everything was working perfectly. He is a gentleman and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend his work.

I was happy it went smoothly for the installation.He was so professional and treated my home as if it were his own. He really spent much time at city hall with all the filing that was necessary. It was a great experience. In the past I have had some nightmare experiences, but thanks to Angie's List life works better.

They did a good job. I liked the job they did. They showed up on time. They got up on the roof, evaluated the problem and fixed it. I thought the cost would be more and it was cheaper. The guy was honest.

He quickly diagnosed a worn out wiring system and changed it.

Gary, of Air Vista, provided an estimate that was considerably lower than others, which was not the determining factor, but he won us over with his apparent integrity, knowledge and low-key approach. Despite some rain on the installation date, he and his aide proceeded as scheduled. We appreciated the fact that Gary participated in the installation while being available to respond to any of our questions. The job was completed efficiienty and effectively in a relatively short time despite the weather conditions. Gary then went about significantly toning down the bothersome sound level of a heating system whose installation resulted from an emergency a couple of years earlier when a coil needed immediate replacement. By adding flow bar diffusers and a sound liner in the return air cabinet, he was able to dramatically reduce the fan noise. The effect was as if we had a new furnace at small cost. ARS, the high-pressure, over-priced people that installed the system, never even considered such measures. Atter the job was completed to our overwhelming satisfaction, Gary noted an unrelated uncovered duct our on roof that was uncovered. He came back to attend to that. We could not have been more pleased by the services provided by Air Vista, especially after our utter disassifaction with ARS.

The quote went well. They were on time and answered all of our questions. It was a positive experience overall. We haven't made any decisions yet but so far everythings gone smoothly.

Very helpful in recommending an appropriate furnace based on the regional climate, the size of the house, the existing duct system and number of vents which will be left open. Showed up on schedule, worked efficiently, hauled away the old unit; clean work! Explained the basics of the new system and a step-by-step instruction on setting the thermostat.

Gary the heating man was on time and very polite and the price was right.

We called them, they came and gave us a bid, we accepted and set up a date, the whole thing was 1/2 day job and done within one week of initial contact.

After doing extensive research and acquiring 4 different bids, I discovered that there are some pretty different opinions when it comes to updating the house with a new air and heating system. All of these opinions seemed valid, and I never got the feeling that anyone was being deceitful with their intentions. Every company had valid reasons for using a particular product, and these products varied in price. There was up to a 2,000.00 difference (comparing apples to apples) in the bids, and ultimately, for me, it came down to who I felt the most comfortable with. Luckily, Gary s bid was the lowest of the four. Gary and his helper did an amazing job with our new system. It works great!!! The job took a total of 3 days the first to rip out the old ducts, and the next two, to install the items. Gary worked diligently throughout the process, and he was always the first one to show up to the house (we had 2 to 3 other crews working on the house at the same time). He paid attention to the little details, and he built a pretty cool platform in the attic (that s where we put the furnace). Once he was finished, he made sure we fully understood how to use the controller, and he made sure to let us know that if there were any problems, to simply call him. My wife and I are very pleased with the work Gary did in our house. We would highly recommend his services to anyone!!!

Gary did a very thorough inspection throughout the house including looking in the attic. He e-mailed us the estimate and gave a good explanation of the options available. He was right on time for the estimate appointment and was very careful about keeping the house clean. Once the installation date was set, he and his assistant were promt and efficient. He put down tarps to keep the house clean and the work was done quickly. He came back two days later to adjust the system and again make sure everything was working correctly. He also provided training on how to use the new thermostat.

The work never took place because I did not appreciate the owner's attitude or lack of professionalism.

Our original heater's firebox was cracked and Gary had to replace it with a new furnace. He was able to give us a quote within 2 days of the visit and the new furnace was installed 1 day later. Their work was good, clean and finished in a short amount of time. I would highly recommend them.
