After a few months both the laminate and the cork began to separate. The provider came back and fixed once then it happen again. He said it was moisture so I called in a Home inspector for addition 400.00 whom determined there was no excess moisture not only inside but also under the house as I do live on a crawl space. The Provider Jay Stark came out with what seemed to be a friend but he said it was the manufacturer of the floor. He agreed with Jay moisture. There isn't any excess moisture in my floors or in my house. The floors were laid incorrectly. I spent 3967.00 on the laminate floors and an additional 2900+ on the cork floors.. Jay said he'd call me back in a couple days to set up an appointment to come and fix the floors and that was on 1/9/2014 and as of today Feb 6 I haven't heard a peep from him. I've given him over 5K dollars and my floors look like crap. He says he's been laying floors for 20+ years and has never had this problem. Well when I hired a licensed contractor and paid this amount of money is wasn' to have floors that look like crap within 3 months of installation.
Description of Work: The provider laid 900 sq feet of laminate, and on this last job he laid about 400 sqft of enviro cork. I was pleased with the laminate so I had him come back the next month and lay the cork. and he also did a back splash in my kitchen. for and additional 900.00. He seemed like a pleasant guy and nice personality until...

Unfortunately [member name removed] does not want to accept the fact that she has damaged her own floors. I went to her home with a professional sales re (not a personal friend) I have a written report stating her flooring issues are defineatly due to moisture. I also have pictures that prove the floor is buckling in front of kitchen and bar sink, in front of water cooler, and under potted plants as well. The home also has a swamp cooler. One visit to the home there was a soaked beach towel sitting right next to the washer on the cork floor and her own father said they had a toilet overflow. [member name removed] also states she uses the cleaning kit I provided her with, but you could clearly see streaks from a string mop on her floor. I am now going to have to shell out cash to send a national wood flooring association inspector to her home in my defense. I have been laying floors for 21 years and have never had one complaint – I'm sorry [member name removed] is disgruntled but this is not an installation issue- I am a very reputable flooring contractor in Southern California. 95% of my work comes from referrals. I have never been questioned about my work until now. It is very disappointing to me hat I am being accused of poor workmanship, due to someone elses neglegence.

We didn't - thank goodness....
Description of Work: We called Jay about two months ago to let him know we needed approx. 2,200 square feet of hardwoods refinished and approx. 20 square feet replaced. We also needed a custom color, not out of a can. He came out, gave us a bid, and assured us a custom blended color was not a problem for him. My husband was a bit apprehensive upon our first meeting, due to him talking non-stop and his anxious behavior, but he left the decision up to me. We then needed him to come out before the entire house could begin to repair and sand our library, and provide some samples of his "custom color", before we could commit to the entire house. We spent 1/2 hour on the phone going over what we expected Monday morning at our scheduled appt. time at 8:00am, and he assured us he would be there, because he "really wanted the job". Monday morning came and went, he never showed, called, text or emailed. By afternoon, we sent him a text asking why we didn't hear from him, he responded with "you're crazy and that's why I'm not there". Please be very careful before using this guy, never had someone this unprofessional before, and we've been working on this project for over 2 years. We wonder how he's still in business, and thankful we didn't get started with him. My husbands intuition on this guy was right on. We rely on all the post from Angie's List to avoid costly disasters with people and companies like this. Please beware of this person.

I would like to start by warning all contractors to stay clear of this customer... What she failed to mention is that I was coming to sand and refinish, then customize a stain to her liking in the entire library. I told her it would cost her $800.00. She wanted me to come out for free just to test my knowledge and expertise of my trade. I am a small business and I cannot afford to work for free at her disposal.. including forking out money for materials and labor- As far as professionalism goes I am tops, 95% of my work comes from referrals and the last time I checked people don't refer contractors who are anything but on top of their game! I am relieved I did not accept this persons job, if she couldn't even compensate me for her library who knows if she would have even paid for the rest of the job upon completion! And to touch on the topic of me "non stop talking"and being "anxious"... Sad that some people mistake motivation, excitement and passion in their profession for anything other than what it is- I too had mixed feelings the first time I went out to measure her job, she took forever to answer the door and when she finally did she confessed she almost didn't come to the door because she just had a Botox procedure, we had a set appointment!!! So, as I stated before "beware of customer" I'm not the one you need to be concerned about!
