They initially gave an estimate for resurfacing the doors. They called us back and asked if they could add 4000 to the initial estimate and install new cabinets. Everything turned out very satisfactorily. They only offered us two choices for the finish, but the work was ok. Everything went well.
Description of Work: They installed new cabinetry as a part of a larger kitchen remodel project.

Did not care for the salesman they sent out, but the price seemed a good value (negotiated down from $18k). Took quite awhile for them to start. Demo was quick, but then we were without a working kitchen for about 7 weeks! Had to call the office several times to push the project along. Once they finally started, installation was in slow stages. Quality of work for the most part was good, though they had to come back twice once for the countertop and once for the cabinets to fix stuff. At the end the office staff was much more pleasant than at the beginning and mid point. My advice is to get timeline on paper and make them stick to it. Get another salesperson other than Mike.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel. Demo'ed our old cabinets and installed new ones. Demo'ed my old laminate counters, installed quartz countertops, added breakfast nook, a new sink, fixtures and disposal. Accidentally threw out our disposal so they had to replace it.

How much space do I have to list all of the problems? The thing that fooled me most about this company is that they are a member of the Better Business Bureau. I don t know how their business practices allow them to be a member. Now I know to check Angie s list before hiring anyone. Read the other write-ups from 2007 and 2006. My experience with this company was the same. Their policy seems to be to do a phase of the project, collect funds, then come back and fix oversights after the customer complains. The office staff was terrible, and I had to monitor the individual contractors carefully to get the results I wanted. In the end the kitchen turned out okay, but the experience wasn t.
Description of Work: Partial kitchen remodel. TKC Demo'ed my old tile counters, installed quartz countertops, a new sink, fixtures, disposal*, and did a tile backsplash. *I purchased the new sink, faucet fixture and garbage disposal for installation.

It seemed liked the guys who were actually doing the work at our house were working very hard, but we thought the office staff was a little disorganized. The start date was pushed back several times and there was some confusion about who was supposed to be doing what on certain days.
Description of Work: They refaced some of the existing cabinets in our kitchen. They also removed some of the old cabinets, built and installed some new ones and then put the finish on them. They installed new countertops, a sink and garbage disposal as well. Our kitchen is 10 by 12 feet.

Couldn't have been any worse. George the granite sub-contractor was the only good thing about this job. V.P. Reed and most of his office staff are just awful! Started out as a refacing purchased Nov. 1, 2006, we put them off until after the holidays. After several starting dates in Jan. they finally started on Feb. 2nd. Installer was here two hours. Stripped all doors and drawers and started taking pictures. Said there was a problem and they cannot reface cabinets and might have to replace. We did not want that and said to bring our doors and drawers back and forget it. They had already tossed our doors+. Meanwhile after many arguments and phone calls we agreed to let them do the work. They started on Feb. 26th and finally finished about April 15th. We had emptied our kitchen out on Jan. 20th. (first start date) and had no kitchen until the April date. They couldn't even hook up the plumbing in a timely manner after the counter tops were done. Mr. Reed agreed to pay our plumber.

The job started in mid January, and although it took longer than expected to finish, the final result is terrific! We're very pleased and love our new kitchen! Each & every workman in the process was punctual, pleasant and professional. This also included the office staff. As is the case with any job of this size, there were a few glitches along the way (nothing horrible, however.) These glitches were the reason the job ultimately took longer than expected, but they were handled & corrected efficiently & promptly.
Description of Work: Refacing of kitchen cabinets, new doors & drawers; finishing of same; new quartz countertops & double stainless sink; portion of lower cabinets was new construction which included lazy-susan corner cabinet, under cooktop drawers, etc. Job included necessary demolition & all appliance hook-ups, as well as installation of new sink faucet & disposal.

The overall experience with this company was just plain bad, bad, bad. Most of the installers (not to be confused with skilled craftpersons) were personable but totally incompetent. Office professionalism was non-existent. 1) pencil marks all over the new paint 2) first cabinets had wrong interior 3) second cabinets were the wrong size 4) scratched appliances and dented walls 5) many delays and unreturned phone calls. Had to go to office to get someone to respond 6) Gaps between doors and drawers are all different and uneven. Many extra screw holes. Corners of doors do not line up 7) Stain peeling after less than 2 years 8) Holes left in ceiling (used screws to hold up curtain when spraying stain) 9) Granite countertop cracked during installation, they would not replace it 10) Yelled at and insulted by VP of operations. 11) What was supposed to be a 4 to 5 week job took 5 months. They will not return phone calls but have no problems driving accross the bay.

Well, the the guy was two or three hours late on the first day. After that, things went much smoother for the cabinet guy, then after he was done, the sprayer guys sprayed the cabinets with four coats of shellac or stain, which made the cabinets look much nicer. After the sprayers left, I found a half empty soda can inside my cabinet that they took out of my fridge without asking me. Also, they left a ring of shellac on my patio table. I also found one of the sprayers sitting in my chair reading my newspaper while I guess waiting for the cabinets to dry. So despite the fact that the sprayers did a good job, they need a crash course on not being so tacky while doing the job.
Description of Work: Refaced all my cabinets and all new countertops, and they built a new cabinet and installed it in the same spot from which I removed my dishwasher. Also refaced a large cabinet right next the kitchen area.

Although I am quite happy with my finished kitchen, the road to get there was painful. Everything took forever to complete. While many of the individuals who worked on the project were good, overall my experience was negative. The wrong cabinet doors were ordered and then they actually sprayed them in my living room coating everything with a fine layer of stain. Several doors needed replacing and they sent the design originally ordered but not delivered. Long periods of time occurred with no work and they always acted as if they were doing me a huge favor to come do anything. One woman in the office yelled at me several times on the phone when I selected granite that was not standard. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

When we signed the agreement, we were expecting for them to do all aspects of the job, but we got a call after our cancellation period that the salesperson hadn't charged us enough. Then we had to do the demo ourselves, & we were told our job would be COMPLETED by Thanksgiving (since we had family coming). We had to call them almost daily to get them out to complete our job, & it wasn't done by Thanksgiving. They barely got it done by Xmas, & we had to call them out REPEATEDLY to hook up appliances & the sink, which was never done correctly (water & GAS leaks). I never called them to fix the half-??? hook ups, because the people who worked at the office were completely incompetent, lied to me repeatedly, set up appointments that they didn't keep, never apologized for the lack of professionalism, the list can go on & on.

I have somewhat of mixed feelings about them. I really like what I heard and saw at the start of the job, but considering the price of the job, I had very high expectations. In the end, I can't say I would ever use these guys again. The finished look is fantastic, and pretty much what we were looking for, but they weren't able to work with the appliances. The job was drawn out so long (2 months). I just can't say it went the way I wanted. There were a lot of standing around that wasn't necessary, and the follow up work was never taken care of.

Everything was fine. They did a great job. There were a couple of things they lacked, but the office staff were great. We had it done in stages. The sales rep was excellent and the architect was great. Installing the cabinets was slow, but they finally got them in.

Oh! These people did a horrible job. If you ever need your kitchen remodeled do not call them. They did a horrible job all the way around. The flooring was wrong, the cupboards were wrong, just about nothing was done right. We had to take the issue to court and then we finally were able to get money knocked off the final price.

The time it took this company to complete this project was two months. They did do a very good job on the remodeling, but it took forever to complete. I would have to say that the quality was very good, outstanding. I was happy with the completed job, but it took a long time.
