When my house smelled smokey after running the heater for a couple of hours, I wanted to be sure nothing was wrong (or if something was wrong, that it get fixed right away since it's been cold). I wasn't hopeful given it was New Year's eve, but I checked Angie's list and found ABC which had a lot of great reviews. I gave them a call and they said they would have someone out between 12pm and 4pm. Ben showed up a little before 4pm and checked everything out. I loved Ben and would ask for him again! He was so nice, professional, and explained in detail about the furnace and how it works. Luckily, he did not find anything wrong and when the furnace was turned back on, it no longer smelled like smoke. At a cost of just $59, I felt it was totally worth having him out. A great experience overall.

Went quite well. Communications were good, work was good, they went beyond the bard minimum and were dedicated to making us satisfied with the work. Courteous, cheerful, clean, all the positive adjectives, especially diligent. Good folks.

Our furnace would not heat although the fan would run, this was on the Thursday before a weekend! ABC was able to send our a technician the next day and he quickly determined that a high-heat switch had tripped and needed to be replaced. He was able to get the switch to work for the time being and put in an order for the new part. Luckily this temporaty repair worked well since it took a full week for the part to come in from Carrier. When the part was replaced it also came apparent that some other adjustments were required which the technician made quickly. Everything has worked well since the repairs were made. While we are pleased with the work overall, in terms of punctuality the experience was all too typical - we were given a 3 (or 4?) hour service window and I called when all but 30 minutes were left in this window since I had not heard from ABC. At thsi time I was told that the technician would be able to be at our home in one hour - 30 minutes after our quoted services window time exoired, which I told them was acceptable sionce we still had not heat! Regarding Responsiveness, when the work could not be completed on the first visit (a Friday) since a part was needed, we were told that the office would let us know the following Monday about the status of the order and the timing of the next visit. That call did not come until a week later. Since our furnace was working this was not an issue but it was not what we were told to expect.

We had them do an energy audit on our 30 yr old house. It was very thorough. The guy went around with infrared sensor and pointed out where we lacked insulation and are losing energy. He also checked under the house and in the attic. He tested the heating and cooling systems. They guy probably spent 4 hours checking various things around the house. Afterward, some other guy came to the house and explained all the findings. They gave a detailed report and an estimate for how much it will cost to make the house more energy efficient. It was definitely worth the $100 to have the house audited. We now know which areas need a bit of attention and can benefit from modern fixtures and supplies. The estimate they gave us seems kind of high so we haven't decided whether we want the work done yet.

The technician cleaned the furnace and had to change the igniter as it was old. He asked about my heating bills and suggested was I could save money on both my gas and electric bills. He explained what he was doing and why. He was very professional.

The Technician arrived on time and was clean and courteous. Removed shoes inside the house and generally was very professional. He proceeded to audit the heating and cooling system and then did a pressure test on the house to highlight leaks and potential places for saving money. The audit was solely focused on the heating/cooling system and made no attempt to identify other potential savings (eg double glazing etc). As a result of the audit, a salesman came by a month later to lay out the recommendations for upgrades. The report was thorough, and very expensive. No attempt was made in the report to quantify the cost benefit of individual repairs (eg fixing leaking ceiling lights), and by far the biggest cost was a complete replacement of the heater and associated ducting. The technician's suggestions and the salesman's were different and didn't entirely overlap. My biggest problem with the report was no attempt was made to quantify heating loss through windows and the like.

ABC Cooling and Heating performed an initial energy audit and then presented us with options for upgrades, including mutiple available energy rebates based on improvements in overall energy efficiency. The work was completed on schedule at the quoted price. At our request, they scheduled their crews around a separate roofing project that was going on in the middle of thier work. They coordinated all the energy rebates and performed a final energy audit after project completion to verify rebate qualification. They performed free maintenance and service for the first year. The new equipment is still working fine. Energy costs are down. Very satisfied overall.

I bought a Big Deal from Angies List to have end of the year furnace and A/C tuneup in July 2012. I didn't get around to scheduling it until early Nov. 2012. I was told by ABC Plumbing and Air's office that the temperature for checking the A/C needed to be over 55 degrees. When the tech came out and tuned up the furnace, he found a crack in the heat exchanger and advised me that this could lead to carbon monoxide entering my house, so I shut off the furnace after he was done. The tech then told me that the temperature outside needed to be above 70 degrees, not 55 degrees and he called the office to inform the company scheduler that the temp needed to be over 70, not over 55. Anyway, the tech said he could come back in the Spring, when the temp should be warm enough to tune up the A/C and that the charge for doing this would not change from the Big Deal price. I was happy about that and also glad I had the furnace looked at because of the carbon monoxide threat that I never knew about.

After appointment was made they called ahead of visit to confirm time and then showed up at the appointed time. Upon arrival the technician put on slippers to work inside, discussed the work with me and completed the work in a timely way. Everything works as expected and work area was as clean after work as before work began.

Scheduling went OK, and the technician showed up on time and called in advance to confirm the day of the appointment (excellent). The report was more comprehensive than some I have seen, but not as detailed as my favorite (performed by Honeywell under contract to my Electric/gas utility). The recommendations were somewhat skewed toward the services ABC could provide, and less detailed for services not provided. I didn't feel any sales pressure, and really appreciated the professionalism of the technician. I have not acted on the most expensive recommendation, partially for cost reasons, and partially for issues involving overall reworking of the house, but they are on my short list of contractors to perform that work if/when I decide to go forward.

ABC has been doing our work for over 6 years after installing a new Infinity system in our home in 2007. They have been very good.

My experience with ABC Cooling & Heating was EXCELLENT from the start. Everyone I interacted with at ABC is professional, pleasant, and patient, kindly explaining things every step of the way. First, Jeff came over to look at the scope of work, explained the process to me, and clearly laid out what the work would comprise, how long it would take, and even provided an on-the spot estimate (that included everything pertaining to permit costs too). He helped me visualize the attic layout (where the furnace would go) and answered my many questions. Jeff was one of the few estimators (I had several) who wore booties when he came into my home, and thus demonstrated respect for me and my home, which was a bonus on top of all the other pluses I experienced with this company. Even more impressive, following the estimate visit and while I was in the process of making a final decision about the company I would ultimately choose, I emailed Jeff many follow-up questions (that I either hadn't thought of while he was here or that I needed clarity on) and he ALWAYS PROMPTLY replied. This excellent level of customer service, plus the competitive bid and 2-consecutive day installation promise I received from ABC led me to ultimately choose them for doing the job. Also, I was grateful to be scheduled before it got really cold! Next, Jeff suggested that due to the attic layout/house shape, Steve would also take a look at the home's layout to ensure everything would go smoothly at installation. Like Jeff, Steve promptly arrived for our appointment and he too patiently answered my many questions, never rushing me. I thought this additional visit by Steve was great and avoided any 'surprises' by the crew once the work started. Additionally, ABC was always able to work around my schedule for these appointments, so I didn't have to take time off from work. Approximately 2 weeks after I chose ABC, it was time for the work to begin. Allan and Amitesh showed up during the expected timeframe and once again walked me through the furnace installation process. These guys rock! I was home working during the entire installation process and saw first-hand how hard they worked and how much pride they take in providing quality work to their customers. When I saw all of their materials and tools, I was skeptical they would finish in 2 days, but I was wrong. Amitesh and Allan are a great team and I was very comfortable having them in my home. I was somewhat stressed when they told me the vents couldn't go where I had initially planned, but they kindly gave me options and time to decide on the alternatives and everything turned out wonderfully. And when the job was finished each day, they CLEANED UP and took more time on day 2 to make sure my home was vacuumed/swept of attic/other debris--I was amazed (and very pleased) they did this. I can say from first-hand observation and experience that they definitely go the extra mile for customers, going way above and beyond my expectations! Overall, ABC Cooling & Heating exceeded all of my expectations. I'm a very particular person, and with this huge job, there were so many components to choosing the 'right' contractor to meet my specifications--they had to provide excellent customer service, be a legitimately-recognized and qualified company, be able to provide services within my budget, be credible in their interactions with me, and give me a 'good-gut' feeling. Through my interactions with Jeff and Steve prior to the start of the job, all of my concerns about this huge job being done correctly, within my budget, and on-time were allayed. And once I met Allan and Amitash who expertly and professionally completed the job, I knew I made the right choice!

I first used this company for my own home for servicing my A/C and duct cleaning. I was so impressed with Andrew that I call and used them again this month for my two duplexes. I had the Heaters Serviced and Duct Cleaning preformed. Greg was able to find what the heater noise was caused from and fixed it. Very knowledgable top Service. Andrew came by later and did Duct Cleaning for both these Duplexes. He really went the extra mile I am very happy with this company and have recommended them to others. Thanks guys!

The final information was very good. It confirmed what I suspected and pointed out a few other problems. The recommended a bunch of different solutions, all of which were fairly expensive, which was anticipated. Currently I haven't performed any of the recommended solutions, but maybe next year.

Appointment within few days of calling ABC. The office assistant was new and not familiar with Angue list coupon but thus was not a problem. Was given a four hour window and was called as promised with a heads up a hour before the tech arrived. Tech appeared to do all that was necessary and finished in about 30 minutes. Heater checked out with no problems found. Was told if heater needed repair this winter they would credit the checkup fee.

--Rob F. arrived on time and went straight to work. --He found a gas leak in pipe outside of our house and we called PG&E immediately,. PG&E responded w/in 30 minutes (due to the fear of gas leakage in residential neighborhoods similar to South SF). --Rob worked professionally, showing me where there may be heat leakage throughout the house --He provided sound and sensible advice (did not try to sell all services they offer--which is a nice change) --He also found the air duct cleaners who came out less than a week before, did not clean the 2nd intake, knowing there were two furnaces; also noted and corrected the faulty installation of an air filter system by the air duct cleaners --He helped finish the filter cleaning (which was not performed by the same air duct cleaners) --Overall, Rob F. was well worth the money--he went well beyond the call of duty with the faulty air duct cleaning/filter installation performed by the air duct cleaners--he performed excellent work in conducting the energy audit and gave sound advice (not pushy)

The audit itself went fine, it sounds like they were pretty thorough. However, the part that really rubbed me the wrong way was when the sales person came to deliver the results. Rather than presenting me with the best way to increase the energy efficiency of my house, he seemed to only be interested in singling out the type of work which would get me the biggest rebate, regardless of how well it would increase efficiency. I was looking for the best way to save money on my engergy bills long term, but was given just short term solutions geared toward getting me the biggest rebate (which wouldn't help nearly enough in the long run to offset the tens of thousands of dollars these jobs would cost.)

They were in and out in 30 minutes. They explained everything to me and also let me watch them perform the work. They cleaned up after themselves. I would definitely use them again.

The ABC workmen were on time and efficiently did the installation of the fan.

Went well. Spent 3-4 hours doing various tests/reviews. Provided comprehensive written review as a result. Identified areas of savings by implementing recommendations. Follow up call by sales people to perform recommended work was informative. Found their bid for work on the high side of other companies.
