I was very satisfied with the professionalism and quality of Matt's work to install a new oven. He was very accommodating with meeting me to give me the estimate, calling the management company and arranging to install the oven when it was delivered. He did quality work in a timely manner and was fair in the price he charged. I was so happy with his work that I recently called him back to install a faulty fire detector.
Description of Work: Matt relocated electrical wiring from one wall across the kitchen to under the stove top and installed an oven.

He is an independent electrician and I like him a lot. He is excellent. I have worked with him before as well. I like his willingness to solve the problems. A couple of years ago, he did track lighting for me that was quite a challenge but he figured out a way to do it whereas other people could not. It was a project that I wanted to do for some time and I finally found someone that was willing to do it. He figured out how to do it and it was a lovely installation. He is very creative for a tradesman. His price has been fair and he is dependable.
Description of Work: I have used the services of Comer Electric a few days ago. He moved some light switches around in the kitchen of my house.

Matt was able to minimize the additional wiring and hardware to complete the job with a single conduit containing the 3 circuits from the main panel, running along the outside rear of our condo and through a hot water heater closet on the outside of the building where he routed the circuits to their ultimate destinations. The job required several (3) small drywall holes in the kitchen to complete the job. Since we have other drywall repairs to make to complete our remodelling of our 3 bedroom, 3 bath condo, the drywall holes were inconsequential. Matt did a fine job and was very easy to work with when planning out the modifications. His price was very reasonable. I would not hesitate to hire him again.
Description of Work: Matt installed 3 new circuits with 20 amp breakers and conduit. Two circuits were installed with dedicated outlets in the kitchen; one for an over the stove microwave oven/hood outlet and one for a counter top outlet. Previously, when the microwave oven and countertop convective oven were in simultaneous operation, the circuit breaker for their common circuit would throw, necessitating a trip to the main panel outside to reset the circuit breaker. Matt also installed a surface mounted ceiling lamp outlet/box over the sink with wiring running from an existing countertop double box. He replaced the existing garbage disposal switch with a double pole switch to control both the light fixture and the garbage disposal. The third circuit was installed with a floor outlet in an upstairs bedroom/office for the operation of a color laser printer. The printer draws over 10 amps and previously, during operation, would result in the common circuit room lights flickering annoyingly as the fuser would turn on and off to maintain a constant temperature.

Called in to help diagnose pool circuit that was shorting out. Determined that it was a problem with underground wiring that had shorted. Recommended running new wire which required jack hammering concrete, laying new conduit and wiring, and closing concrete. Brought in concrete worker to do the concrete work, finished and tested the circuit..
Description of Work: Diagnosed problem with pool light to faulty underground wiring. opened up concrete and installed new underground circuit. connected to new GFI protection. tested and ensured circuit was working

Matt was awesome. I called him and he made it out the same day. We were moving into our new home the following Saturday and had a circuit problem that nobody could diagnose. He worked hard and checked everything including all the lines in the attic, behind the appliances etc. He was honest, hardworking, provided excellent service and really helped up in a jam. I am already recommending him to all that I know and will absolutely use him again

I had a problem with significantly fluctuating electricity levels in my house. The lights would flicker, and my TV and desktop computer would sometimes reset. Matt came within 24 hours of my calling him. He was focused and professional, and eventually concluded that the connection into my house from the utility pole was faulty. He recommended that I call SoCal Edison, which I did. He explained to me in some detail what was wrong, and showed me how the voltage levels were off. This was important information, because when the electrical company workers first tested the voltage, they didn't see a problem. However, armed with Matt's information, I was able to get them to keep testing when I had multiple electricity-using devices turned on. Then they saw the problem, and fixed it. Matt actually charged me for less than the time he spent. I think that was because at one point he thought I had a faulty breaker. He went to buy a new one. When he realized that was not the problem, he returned the breaker without charging me for it, and without charging me for the time he spent on it.
Description of Work: Matt accurately diagnosed a problem I had with fluctuating electricity levels.

Service and professionalism has been excellent. When he installed the new heater-blower Matt found that the motor the company had sent was defective. Since it was the heater that had burnt out in the old unit, he was able to cannabillize that motor and install it in the new unit. The total cost for that and reinsstalling the lighting fixture was only $75! The re-wiring of the lights also went well. On his first trip he diagnosed the problem and gave me an estimate. He also gave me an estimate on installling a complete higher-capacity panel and arranged for the electric company rep to come out and approve the location. (I decided against this option because of the cost). He came out a few days later, at my convenience, installed the new wiring, and checked out all the other circuits in the house. The total cost was $500.
Description of Work: I have used this company twice in the last few months. The first time was in January. Matt (Comer) replaced a burnt out blower and heating element in a bath fan and re-installed a loose lighting fixture. The second was on the date indicated. We had a problem with dimming and blackouts in our recessed lighting. He diagnosed the problem as an overload (50 lights on one 15 amp circuit!), installed an additional circuit, and split up the lights between the two circuits.

The guy who came out was very nice and professional. The day he completed his work I was very satisfied, since I verified that both the phone line and outlets were working properly. When I handed him his check, he told me he would send me $50 as a price reduction (which he never did). I thought it was odd to reduce the price after the job was completed, but (unfortunately) I didn't question him about his motives very deeply. Days later I discovered that the drywall inside my house was completely blown out where he installed one of the outlets. Things got worse when the first rain hit, as our phone lines when out completely. When I crawled under the house to troubleshoot, I discovered that in the process of splicing the telephone wires to cut in the new line, he left all of the lines totally exposed and simply hanging from a nail to keep them off of the dirt. Even IF some of that was pre-existing (I don't know either way), a professional electrician would have told the owner and not quietly made it worse. Now I need to call another electrician to fix his work.
Description of Work: I called Comer to perform 2 jobs. I had a new phone line installed in the master bedroom and 2 electrical outlets installed outside the house to plug in sprinkler timers (one in the front of the house, one in the back.

Response from Comer Electric
In response to your rating, a $50 check for price reduction was hand delivered. In addition when doing any remolding on a home their is always a chance of damage, in which was disclosed at the beginning of the job. Comer electric was working with dog and cat defecation that the owner refused to remove which made our job more difficult. No body is perfect.

I took time off work to meet with Comer Electric, planning the meeting in advance. Matthew did not provide an estimate. He did not contact me afterward at any time to explain why and his voice mailbox was full when I tried to call him. Since I waited several days for his reply, the electrical work was delayed until I found a new electrical contractor through Angie's List who completed the work. I rated Comer Electric a D overall because this was a negative experience.
Description of Work: No services were performed. I contacted this company to obtain an estimate for residential electrical troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades. Matthew was early for our appointment and was polite and personable. He promised to provide an estimate the next day.

Matt was on time and worked very hard to solve my problem. At first we didn't know how we would control it because the wiring on the switch we were going to use was hidden. Then, he suggested a wireless switch and went to go get it. I was dubious, but it worked like a champ. I bought another switch, and now, I can control the switch from both floors of my house.
Description of Work: Matt did an outstanding job thinking of a solution to my outdoor lighting problem. He wired and added lighting fixtures on the side of my garage to illuminate my back yard. The switch is wireless, and I can control it from upstairs and downstairs. It's perfect.

I used Matt before and it went great. He was on time and did the job for a reasonable price so he was the first person I called when I needed electrical work done. He came down to my store and took a look at the work that needed to be done. I had gotten a new freezer with a 220 and needed an external extension from an existing outlet. He wasn't quite sure the work that needed to be done and said that it might take two people. Matt told me he would call me back and that he was able to do the work the same week. I trusted what he said and waited for his call. After two days, I called him and the phone just rang. So after wasting four days and tons of sales, I called another electrician. They sent someone over the same day and finished the work in a few hours. Judging from the reviews, he might be good to change an outlet here and there but don't trust him on major commercial work.
Description of Work: I had Matt come down to the store and take a look at the work that needed to be done. He told me the work that needed to be done and that he can complete the work by the same week. Matt did not call me back and two days of calling him, I gave up and went with another electrician.
