Ian (who works with his son) was extremely responsive and came exactly when he said he'd arrive and texted me prior to his arrival to let me know he was on his way. They were very efficient, professional and mindful about giving me the most value for their services. Both outlets were replaced quickly (roughly an hour). We've put off having electrical needs so we're pleased to have found someone who is fair, dependable and straightforward about cost. We have some exterior lights that we need to replace so we'll be hiring them in the near future for sure.

Ian was easy to contact and very responsive. He called and texted promptly to answer any questions we had and to help set up scheduling. He also offered DIY suggestions for determining if the breaker had failed or just needed to be reset (the breaker had failed, but it was very nice of him to try to spare us the service call!). He took time to come to our home after-hours and only charged us for a regular service call. He fixed our problem promptly and we were pleased with his professionalism, the cost of the service visit, and the ease with which he set up an appointment for us. We would definitely recommend him.

I quickly started making phone calls to some local electricians, ended up talking to Ian at South Bay Electric who solved the problem over the phone in two minutes! I will definitely be using these guys in the future when something comes up.

I called Ian to get a quote on an electrical panel upgrade for my house. He explained that he didn't service my city, but he still spoke with me for 15 minutes, asking me questions about my panel, what I needed done, and giving me recommendations on things to look out for when getting a quote. Making sure the power company had come out to check my panel location and upgrade requirements, checking with the city to see what they required on certain items, what types of panel options I might consider, and pointing out some of the common complications that could come up during the upgrade. He was very friendly, sharing, and knowledgeable, and helpful. I will be recommending him to a family member who lives in his service area.

They took care to position the chandelier just w here I wanted. The bathroom fixture was replaced and they made sure the wiring was correct and disconnected old connections for me.

I gave them a call after 5:30 when many electricians are closed. I described the problem with my circuit breaker. He had me take a picture and send it to him. He walked me through fixing the problem, which took 5 minutes, no charge. Saved me a ton of money that other electricians would have charged me. What a great guy!

Extremely well. They informed me of when they were arriving. Were professional and got all the work done for a little bit less that they had quoted and a lot less than a competitor had quoted (about 30% less). The work done has performed with no problem since installation.

The service was excellent! I'm so glad to have found Ian. He is a true professional and a really nice guy. We were originally going to upgrade our service panel. Ian helped us contact SC Edison with the meter spot. Later, after knowing the reason we were upgrading, he suggested keeping the old panel and just adding a couple more circuit breakers. It just never occurred to us because everyone else was saying about upgrading the panel without calculating the actual load. The new breakers are added and we saved thousands of dollars.

Awesome!!! I wish every person that I hired to do a job at my house was like Ian. SoCal Edison came out to check a problem I reported with my electrical service - blinking lights in the house - and discovered that there was a mostly fried breaker in my electrical panel. I found Ian on Angie's List and gave him a call. It turned out that he was in the area, so after looking at a few pics of my panel that he asked me to text to him, he picked up a replacement set of main breakers, got to my house, replaced the breaker, and was finished: all in about 45 minutes! He was extremely personable, and explained clearly what was the problem and what he was going to do to fix it. When I have electrical problems again, I will be calling Ian.

Ian is a true professional. He quickly diagnosed why our landscape lighting wouldn't work. It was due to a faulty GFI outlet, which Ian quickly replaced (he had one on his truck). Ian also installed a new entryway light fixture. He took the time to make sure it was placed as we wanted, and had no problem adjusting it until it was just right. He works efficiently, arrives on time, responds to inquiries quickly, and is honest. This is the second time we have used him, and we'll definitely use him again. I would highly recommend him.

I called twice to have some work that I really need to have done in my mother-in-law's home. Both times the phone was picked up, but no one was responding, and I could clearly hear people in the background. Turns out, the Bluetooth in his car went AWOL on him lol I've owned a few of those things and it would do the same to me too.

The service call was excellent. Ian called to confirm the time he would arrive for the call and arrived ON TIME. He was very friendly, down to earth, and knew his stuff. He quickly came in, assessed the issue and was able to salvage the wires, which made my day! I was so worried a re-wire was going to be needed. He was in and out in less than an hour. I trusted everything he told me and I will definitely call him for any other electrical jobs I have. I will recommend him to my friends and family.

Ian at South Bay Electric is a class act! I was hesitant about hanging my own ceiling fans, so Ian walked me through the process and even followed up with me after the fact! What a great guy! And, he saved me good money! He proves that not everybody is just trying to hustle as much money as possible. Going to use Ian for the jobs that I can't do myself. THANKS IAN!!!!

Ian was great. He was able to come out with 2 days of my call and was able to give me an accurate estimate on the phone based on my description of the work. He immediately recognized on the phone the problem was that my handyman had bought 3 way switches when 4 way switches were needed. He went to the store and bought the correct switches before coming to the house and performed the work fast and efficiently once he was there. I would definitely recommend him.

Ian was punctual, pleasant, and knowledgable. He worked quickly and didn't leave a mess. I was very pleased with his work and will call him for any future electrical needs.

Ian was great to work with. Not only did he address the issues we had with a few outside lights that were not working, he also gave me a free consultation on how to get a better lighting system for the grass area in my back yard. We will definitely be using his services again for all of our electrical needs.

This was Daryck's second time here and he does good clean work. He seems very knowledgeable of his trade. Price just seemed a tad high for this job based on what the second man on this job did, and that we provided all the fixtures and remote. However I think these guys are very good trustworthy contractors that show pride in workmanship. Something that is getting harder and harder to find in the South Bay.

As the owner of an electric-only house (no gas) it's important that I work with a skilled electrician. I've hired Ian's firm South Bay Electric Company several times and each time it's a pleasure. For this job, Ian's electrician was able to overcome several obstacles to get the ceiling light installed in a downstairs bedroom, as well as drilling and installing seven 4" cans in a downstairs hallway. The electrician was careful to avoid cutting the radiant heat lines in my ceiling. He was also very good at diagramming and positioning the hallway cans to maximize the lighting aesthetics. Clean up was good as well.

Everything went well. Ian and co-worker had to travel to home depot to buy some parts. Came back very quickly and replaced old light fixture with new one. All in all it took only 1 1/2 hour to get everything accomplished. They also offered to clean up afterwards and throw away old items.

Ian quoted me the best price of 4 Angie's list electricians for my master bedroom lighting project. He additionally saved me over $300 by recommending a lower cost fluorescent light fixture for my basement versus recessed lights, and less expensive LED bulbs. He carefully walked through the bedroom lighting layout with me to make sure it would be aesthetically pleasing and provide the light I needed. He and his crew (Derek and Joe) worked through several obstacles inside the ceiling to get the lights in properly without causing damage to anything and were careful to protect my furniture and belongings, and to clean up after the job was done. Great results, outstanding customer service!

I don't know anything about electrical work. But this young man(Derek) explained step by step as we went over what was taking place, when the circuit breaker would shut off. He found the problem, tested the outlets and circuit panel after checking out the breakdown of why this happened. I was so impressed with the level of knowledge this young man knew. Because just the day before another electrician came out, I told him I would have to consider the work, cost, and renovation he suggested, Which I thought was unbelievable, and I'm no electrician. I'm just glad I have added this electrician to my list of personal referrals for doing work at my property.

Also had them put dedicated breakers on microwave and fridge. Showed up as promised and charged a fair price for the job.

Ian removed the panel because the few remaining outlets/switches didn't need one and he did a proper box that was secured properly. He cleaned up all the outlets and switches.. I am very pleased.

I was desperate on Saturday morning when I was unable to open my garage door to get my car out. It wasn't the first time, since I had the new garage door opener installed, that I've problems with it. This time though, nothing seemed to activate the sensors. I had been told by the tech who installed the opener, that the ceiling outlet was too old and could bring trouble in the future to the operation of the garage door. I decided to search in my newly joined Angie's List , for a electrician to replaced the faulty outlet.I called a few from the list, and some couldn't come that day, another wanted $300+ because it was Sat. and an emergency. Ian Marsh was willing to come and check the problem out and the price (unless it turned out to be more complicated) seemed very reasonable. I'm forever grateful to Ian for his professionalism, punctuality, kindness and understanding. He replaced the outlet plug-in device so it wouldn't cause intermittent power to the opener. Because the door wasn't closing even after plug replacement, he called his son to ask about proper positions of door sensors. Spending time beyond his agreed responsibility, he also checked and replaced another outlet in the bathroom that wasn't properly grounded. He provided valuable information so that I can demand a proper installation from the garage door opener provider who did a terrible job. I will never have to call another electrician again because I found Ian. He's one of the few honest and fair repair/contractors I encountered in the South Bay since moving here four years ago. Daryck was incredibly nice. He did very good work and advised me when it was cheaper to buy via Internet than thru him (eg exhaust fan in bathroom). He encountered some issues behind the wall that were not up to code, which he repaired to code. Also, told me how I could save money by hanging the master ceiling fan myself (I'm pretty handy). I did want a three-way added to my kitchen, but decided to wait on that as I am contemplating a major kitchen renovation anyway. Only "complaint" I have about the service is their scheduling. Fortunately I have a flexible schedule so it turned out not to be a big deal, but that is the one area I would suggest improvement on. Ian, the owner, explained his situation and was very nice and tried very hard to get Daryck and his helper to my house. On several occasions Daryck and his helper worked well into the evening. I definitely would use them again!
