JOHN VOELZ & SONS PAINTING

We hired this crew because we thought they were thorough and the price was fair. Painted exterior great. Lots of compliments from neighbors, but left hubby lots to clean up like huge 1-2' puddles of oil-based paint. John dripped paint across new laminate floor and when hubby pointed it out he just laughed. Loud music that we kept having to tell them to turn down. Kept saying he was leaving "early" which brought up concerns as to when they would be able to finish. They were told up front that we were on a tight schedule as floor guys would be there 10/1 and and we needed them out by then. They said "no problem" but job was not done when we returned from 9 day trip. Lots of over spray, drips not rolled out under windowsills, places not painted in stairwell, painting over wallpaper in bathroom which has cat scratches without shaving them or puttying (by the way he told us we should by bead board to cover this mistake), painted over molly bolts they said they would take out.John said people buying house from us would not be looking at his mistakes seemingly unaware that we are his customer, our buyer is not. Started working on other jobs when this one not done and he had already been paid in full before we left on trip. 3 weeks to the day from job start still not done and when asked what was happening he ran off and got in his truck and left. We called to see what was happening. When told we were upset, he started screaming at me that he had gone above and beyond on this house. Gave phone to hubby who was not allowed to speak as John was still screaming and hubby had to ask if he could speak...3 times before finally being able to tell him to get his ladders and supplies and get out. Last we checked, none of this is professional behavior. All said and done we are happy with outside job and inside looks better than when began considering house had not been updated in 30 years or so, but we would not recommend hiring this guy unless you have a good month to spare and lots of patience for cleaning up other peoples messes. The son Josh did great job on cabinets, but when he asked why we would tell others our experience and hubby explained that I was screamed at by John he overheard that in anger I called John a name, his condescending response was "2 wrongs don't make a right, sir".
