First attempt did not restore functionality, but provider immedately returned unit to shop, corrected problems and returned unit w/i 48 hrs, working well

My computer was having glitches and the sound of the hard drive sounded different. I first went to the Mac Genius Bar where they ran diagnostics and fixed the problem. After a couple of days the problem returned. I didn't want to go to Computer Pro so as to avoid the 50 mile drive to Goleta so I tried a couple of other repair shops first. These shops claimed that they also repaired Macs. What that means evidently is that they hire someone who knows a bit about Macs on a one-day/week schedule, so after waiting a week, the repair I got was also just temporary. So I made the drive to Computer Pro, a Mac specialist, and Herb, the Systems Consultant, instantly did what the others couldn't— diagnose he problem as a bad hard drive. Unfortunately, he couldn't repair my iMac that day so I had to make another trip. But all's well that ends well. My iMac was up and running and has been since, and with four times the hard drive memory as before! The lesson that I learned is that if you have a Mac problem, go to a dedicated Mac repair shop such as Computer Pro. P.S. I don't recall what Herb charged me so my estimate might be off.
