Had damage to 100Ft. block wall from the recent earthquake. As a result the entire wall needed to be removed and replaced. Terry came out for an estimate the same day I called and had and had estimate to me later that afternoon. The two other companies I requested estimates from could not make time to come out until the end of the week, therefore my immediate choice was to go with Stump Fence company. I'm glad I made that choice. The crew did an outstanding job. They did very clean work and we are very happy that this unexpected and stressful home repair made our backyard look great. It all went well and we are very happy with the result and the much improved look and utility of our backyard. I appreciated being able to communicate with Terry via email. This was my first time contracting for fencing work and so I had a lot of questions that Terry patiently and timely addressed.

From start to finish, I was very pleased with the process and its outcome. They got back to me very quickly about arranging an estimate, did the estimate very promptly (including a couple of different options, since I was deciding between different types of fencing), answered all my questions, and coordinated their work with another company's landscaping work I had going on at the same time. The only very minor delays were weather-related (the paint on the fence didn't dry as fast as expected because of a couple of rare damp days--no one can control the weather!), and they were great about keeping me informed. The installers themselves were great, let me know when they were starting/leaving each day, worked really hard, and cleaned up after themselves. The fence is beautiful, and people stop their cars to tell me so! After reading other reviews on Angie's List, I knew that the price was going to be on the higher side, but I think it was worth it for such a high-quality job.

Emailed Stump Fence via Angie List and received a prompt reply. Email back and forth some of the details and agreed the price range over email. This was one gate, not ornate, so must of the details could be done with a cell phone photo and a little Photoshop. After agreeing to a ball park price, Terry came out for the final measurement and estimate. As promised the estimate was in my inbox and we agreed to the work. Installation was quick with no fuss. The installers were professional and took the time to take care of the details (e.g. painting the bolts the same color as the fence) Very impressed with that level of detail. Great job and will definitely use them in the future

When I called, I was able to arrange for someone to come out to measure the yard very quickly. Matt was very nice and gave me a few suggestions that made a lot of sense. He explained that they do not always offer the cheapest product but that they stand by their work. The company is family run and has been around for a long time. I got another quote for less but decided to go with Stump because they are fencing specialists and would get it done more quickly. The crew arrived on time and were very polite and professional. They worked very hard and very quickly. They cleaned up after themselves. Matt also arranged for the city permit for me. The fence looks beautiful and I'm very pleased with the results. The neighbors are also pleased. I highly recommend this company!

We are very pleased with the service they provided. | |They fabricated and installed a wrought iron driveway gate and installed wiring and a gate opener. Both of their crews worked hard, wasted no time, cleaned up after themselves, and were quite diligent. They were quite responsive in coming back out to fix a few things - add bolt locks to the opener machanism, add a bigger antenna (old one slightly blocked by the hill) and set the opener width to maximum. Also set the timer to close the gate and showed us how to set the temporary code for the outside keypad. They jumped right on it and took care of anything we asked. We contacted Stump to get an estimate for 3 sidegates being installed, 130 feet of wood fence installed, and removal of 100 feet of overgrown chainlink fence. Terry came out within a day, listened to our questions, took measurements, and emailed us a quote later in the day. It seemed high - a little over $5600, and it wasn't itemized - and we mulled the price. He offered to give us 5% off if we had all the work done in one shot. We decided to leave some of the chainlink fence alone and contacted Terry again, asking for an updated quote: 100 feet of new fence, removal of 70 feet of the chainlink, and two sidegates. We also pointed out an Angie's list offer the company has - a 10% discount, up to $1000 in value. Terry said he wouldn't honor the Angie's list deal, which sort of stunned us. The updated quote - with about a third less work - was still 5/6 the price ($4700). We didn't understand the logic (still not itemized) and went with another company. That said: he was timely and professional, aside from not explaining the quotes/honoring the Angie's List deal.

I had and old rotting fence and gates replaced with new redwood fencing. New metal poles were placed in concrete. The fence is actually taller than the original, and for me that's a plus. It looks good and is plenty solid now. The work was done efficiently and professionally. They workers were punctual from the appt. time of the proposal to when the actual work was performed. They were done in about 6 hours. I would definitely use them again

I called for a quote and was promptly met by Matt (I think) Stump. He was very polite and made all of the measurements he needed in 10 or 15 minutes. He listened to what I needed and made appropriate suggestions as necessary. His crew arrived on the promised install date and it looks even better than I thought it would. Because it was a bit of a patch job in places, I was worried that it wouldn't match. It looks as if it was always there. I would highly recommend this company for fencing needs. Great job!

They had phenomenal workmanship. They went above and beyond. I know it was just a fence but it was unbelievable. They were great people to work with. They were on time. I have nothing bad to say about them. They were definitely not the lowest bid but on time, on cost, everything was great and the workmanship was just fantastic. They were just very responsive. They were never difficult to get a hold of. If we called him, he was here within a very short period of time. We actually expanded the job once it got started. There was no delay doing the additional work.

He did a nice job. He came out, he was very professional, gave their estimation, came back to build it and then put it out. He was here when he said he would be.

Stump fence was great. I called them for an estimate and they came within two days. I had the estimate that evening via email, and they began work two weeks later. The crew who came were prompt, polite, professional and they worked really, really hard. I was told an ending date for the work and when it looked like the original crew was not going to be able to wrap it up by then another crew came to join them. I am very impressed with this company in all aspects.

Matt Stump came to measure and estimate the cost of the fencing. The project was to include removal of existing fence and gates, and then installation of a replacement. The quoted expense was approximately $2800, and estimated a 2 day job. They would remove the fence, and poor concrete for the posts on the first day. Then come back the next day to install the fence. Matt was professional and answered all of my questions. In the end the inconvenience of a 2 day time frame and also being about $1000 more than similar quotes led me to go with another company.

I called and scheduled an appointment with Matt for an estimate. He arrived right on time and brought the requested samples. He "helped me" make some decisions on what grade of fencing to install. Once he sent the quote via email the next day we reviewed it against one other bid. After meeting Matt, seeing how they did business that cinched it for us. We remitted a check and the job was put on his calendar. Then I had a small problem, three day of rain was coming. I had to call and push out the install date, we did not want mud tracked around on our new concrete and he was very understanding. We watched the weather together and rescheduled. Matt answered all calls and emails timely I might add. The install went very well. His crew arrived right on time and were a group of hard working men and it was hot that day we provided a case of cold water for their access, it is inexpensive and a small thank you for the crew and they greatly appreciated it! When they left our home there was literally no sign they had been there beyond our new fence! 5 stars on their clean up! John P.

The job was done professionally at a reasonable cost. We were given a 10% discount for using Angie's list automatically. The gate met our expectations and is attractive. It was necessary that the driveway gate complied with city requirements. Mr. Stump contacted the city directly to be sure that the gate met those requirements. The workers completely cleaned the area when they were finished. We would definitely use Stump fence again.

They installed very nicely. All the chain are lined up strait and looks very good. They dug out very deep to secure posts strong. Terry came on time for estimate and installer came on time as it was scheduled. It was little costly even with Angies' List's 10% off coupon, but their work is very good and completed in 1 1/2 days.

They were prompt and did the work in a timely fashion. I think they could have bee a little cheaper for the work they did.

Removing the old fence and the 40-year growth of ivy was a very messy job. I wasn't happy with the cleanup they did, but one call to Matt, and he had them back in a matter of hours to do a proper cleaning. Also, shortly after the fence and gate were finished, it rained for a couple of days and the gate swelled up and wouldn't close. I emailed Matt and he had his workers come out immediately to fix it. I chose a family owned business in anticipation of receiving top-quality attention and I wasn't disappointed. I would not hesitate to recommend this company to my friends and neighbors. I might have been able to get the job done for less money with someone else, but I selected Stump based on the reviews that other Angies List users posted. I'm very happy with my new fence and with the personal and professional service I received from Stump Fence.

The workers were friendly, accommodating, and They went out of their way to save us money, they reused what parts that could be reused--the original gate, which got knocked off but wasn't damaged--and the finished product looked better than the original.

The service was great. It took about a week for them to make the gates. They were very nice sturdy gates, exactly what we wanted. The guys who installed them were nice and informative. They worked through a bit of rain to get the job done. Among all the estimates that I received, Stump Fencing was the only company that made their own gates at their shop (not just measuring and farming out the work to another company) and you could tell that they knew what they were doing and were knowledgeable enough to give suggestions where we needed the help.
