Description of Work: Complete remodel of bedroom and bathroom
Mike exceeded our expectations. Mike was great at communicating with us. He kept us updated on any delays in material delivery. They did rush through the job instead; he took the time to ensure his work was flawless. We have received compliments on how good our kitchen looks with the newly installed glass door and range hood. We would hire Mike for any future remodeling plans for our home.

Response from Mark C Petersen Residential Remodeling
It was a pleasure to work with [Member Name Removed]. She was very understanding about the current material delays we had to deal with in getting the sliding glass door. Nice family. Oh, and to avoid some possible confusion, somehow she was in a rush writing the review and used Mike instead of Mark as my name....so, to avoid some confusion, it's Mark Petersen.
This is the second time we have used Petersen Construction service. The first time was for an upstairs bathroom remodel that when completed looked like a bathroom suite in a Las Vegas Hotel. Such an Awesome job. Just amazing work! This review is for our home office water slab leak that needed repair. If you are looking for perfection at a reasonable price, then look no further than Mark C. Petersen. Mark and his brother Robb are not only 2 of the best at what they do but they are great people. If you can remember when contractors focused on quality work and not rushing through as many jobs as they could then this is who you want to hire. Mark will keep you updated daily on the work being done. Mark & Robb are so good at what they do they found errors from our home builder that they fixed for us. Some of the errors were very severe. I highly recommend Mark & Rob for anything that you need done to perfection! Hey Mark, remember that I will be contacting you for our kitchen remodel soon. By the way our Basset Hound Charlie (Chuck) loves Mark & Robb. HA HA! Thank You! Doug & Kim Dill Rancho Cucamonga

We are thrilled with our bath/closet remodel results! This time, we had Mark and his brother Rob, gut/remodel our Master Bath and walk-in closet. (this is the THIRD time we selected Mark Petersen Construction, as his workmanship, cleanliness and eye for perfection exceeded our expectations each time on prior projects including, but not limited to, our full kitchen gut/remodel in 2015 and our hall bathroom gut/remodel in 2018) Mark and his brother Rob have proven over and over, they have the highly desired "old school" talents for carpentry and quality workmanship rarely found in General Contractors these days. Mark provided us a realistic quote which did increase "a bit" but only due to OUR requested add-on items, (such as new can lights in hallway and pre-wired electrical in two other bedrooms so we could install ceiling fans ourselves at a later time) If you desire a construction team who maintain a clean and organized project with beautiful, quality workmanship on your most valued possession (your home), including prompt courteous responses to any questions, thoughtful project suggestions/contributions that will bring your visions to life... look no further than Mark Petersen Construction. Thank You, Thank you to Mark and Rob!! Happy Customers in Chino

I normally do not write reviews but felt compelled to do so this time. I don't know about you but I have hired numerous so called contractors over the years and always came away with less than expected results. This time was different. Mark Petersen is the "Real Deal". I hired Mark to remodel my Kitchen and Laundry Room. I shared my ideas of what I wanted to achieve and what I could afford to spend. From this first meeting, Mark then got back to me in a few days with details on the timelines, what to expect as far as disruption (never the fun part) , cost for materials and ideas for additional storage ( always a challenge) and design that still kept me within my budget. The final result was well beyond my expectations. I still pinch myself to make sure I am not dreaming that this is really my home! Just beautiful and makes me very happy! Already going over details with Mark for the next remodel project!

Mark does amazing work. We hoped to do a remodel in March 2020, but something happened that delayed the job until this year. From Feb-April, Mark and and his brother did a full kitchen remodel -- and it began with very carefully replacing the horrible electrical wiring we had in the kitchen. They did everything: installed new cabinets and lighting, had a great tile guy put in a tile floor and backsplashes, painted, installed floating shelves, put in a subfloor, fixed our doorframes ... really they did everything and the kitchen now vs. how it was in the past is amazing: from something that was dangerous and non particularly functional to a modern, elegant, highly usable kitchen. Beyond that, Mark is a great communicator, very conscientious, and fairly priced. He does great work. Trustworthy, honest, hard-working. Couldn't recommend him more highly.
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel, then some laundry plumbing repairs (two jobs)
Mark and Rob did an amazing job! I needed to remove my carpet in my den due to my pandemic dogs and replace them with vinyl flooring asap. I also wanted to add a dry bar cabinet. He sent me a proposal within a few days. I moved forward and he was able to start the work as soon as my cabinets came in. He found a serious electrical hazard and since they are skilled in more than just installing flooring they were able to address it immediately. I am pretty certain another person would have just installed the floor and ignored the issue. Mark and Rob and so friendly and easy to work with. They were always prompt and always left the space clean. I appreciated how they paid attention to details and it was obvious in the final result. I look forward to having them back to work on my next project.

My Mother-in-law recently suffered a massive heart attack and my wife and I had her move in with us so that we could take care of her. The upstairs bathroom next to her bedroom was not in the best of shape when our 3 daughters and 1 son moved out after years of use. I decided to use Home Advisor to search for a good contractor. After interviewing 9 contractors we hired Mark C. Petersen. I knew right away that Mark was the best choice due to his professionalism, organization and attitude. We wanted this bathroom remodel to be a bathroom that was awesome and make Mom feel special. Price is always important and Mark's price was very reasonable. Mark is hands on and he and his brother Robb do the work. They arrived every day at 7:00 a.m. on time, ready to work and always cleaned up at the end of the day and left our house the way they arrived. They are friendly, kind and nice. The work they do is awesome and unbelievable. They bring back the words missing nowadays in construction (Craftmanship & Perfection) Mark & Robb do the work like they were doing it for their own home. They found errors in the original construction with electrical, plumbing, flooring and fuses. Mark & Robb repaired all of these errors and still stuck to the original bid. At one point, I told Mark that one of the errors from the original builder was ok and he said "No" we will fix it and they spent extra days on the work and fixed it. They got to know me, my wife Kim, my Mother-in-law, Bev and our loud Basset Hound Charlie (Chuck). We are so happy and thrilled with Mark & Robb's work that we will be hiring them for our Master Bathroom and Kitchen remodels. This is the company to hire! Mark C. Petersen Contractor. Craftmanship! Mark and his brother Rob did an excellent job in remodeling our bathroom. They uncovered and showed us many of the problems the previous constructor had done to the bathroom. They accomplished the repair and left the bathroom to our specification and needs. They were punctual, well organized, clean, and helped us think through some of the changes we needed to make. We highly recommend them and their work.

It went excellent!! Very professional, clean, and a perfectionist. Mark and his brother Rob showed up on time everyday they said they would, and communicated to me days they would not be there, or days they would be onsite later in the day. Communication was as good as the workmanship. I will definitely use Mark for future projects at my home. I wish I could post before and after pictures, but I don't see a way of doing that here. I'm going to try on Yelp for anyone interested!! Thanks Again for the great referral, and great work!!

Mark & Rob did an excellent job gutting and then remodeling my bathroom. This was a total make over of my bathroom plus adding a shower over the bathtub. I couldn't have asked for a better crew to work in my home. Mark & Rob handled plumbing, electrical, mechanical, painting, drywall with Frank doing the tile and Jose handling the new quartz counter tops. All of this was supervised by Mark, who was always on time and was there every day he was supposed to be. They completed my job in 4 weeks. They cleaned up very well every day. I would definitely recommend Mark Petersen for any remodel you would want to do.

Perfectly. We contacted several remodeling companies in December, and Mark Petersen responded quickly and positively in setting up a meeting to look over our bathroom & remodeling options. Mark was professional right off: he asked if wanted to do the job with permits/to code, which he recommended (we did), then asked what our hopes were. We communicated our rather pretty standard requests (new countertop and faucet, tiling our shower, new showerhead/faucet/drain, new light fixture, new fan, painting, anything else that came up, such as installing new whole-house wired smoke alarms per state law). Mark added thoughts & suggestions in response to our thoughts and questions, and he followed up over the next week or so as he kept considering our hopes for the bathroom, politely correcting some ideas we had and suggesting far more logical avenues. We agreed on a general time for the work to begin - late January - and before then, Mark came by and reviewed various options (paint, hardware, fixtures, etc). He communicated quickly, clearly, and thoroughly all throughout the process - and his demeanor is friendly, sincere, and professional. Once the job started, Mark and his brother Robb went straight to work, tearing out the old stuff, bemusedly fixing some piping and plumbing issues from a prior not-to-code installation, and starting install; a trusted tile person (see other review) came and did a great job over several days putting in the tile. At a midpoint in the process, the city inspector came to check on the work, and he left shaking his head -- in an impressed way. "These guys," he said, "are doing this the old way, the right way." When I told Mark that, he laughed. "Well yeah. Is there another way to do it?" So the job went: in less than two weeks, it's totally finished, and the bathroom looks great: modern, clean, well-lit, totally functional. Mark (and Robb and co.) were fantastic from start to finish. We can't recommend them more highly.
Very well. First off they did a great job of minimizing the disruption and mess. Every day all items tools, supplies, ect., were stored neatly and out of the way. All dust and debri was removed and contained. We had a very strangely placed window that couldn't be changed but created numerous issues that needed to be worked out. Also issues with the sub floor that required a lot of work to get it ready for new flooring. Challenging but accomplished. All inspections with the City passed first time. Mark advised us right up front what issues needed to be done due to meeting codes.

I had called around five contractors and Mark responded quickly and came out the next day. The job consisted of replacement of a prefabricated shower enclosure, flooring updates, toilet replacement, new vanity, lighting, and mirror. His quote was very competitive and could complete the job in the shortest amount of time. Mark and his workers always arrived on time and kept me informed on the progress. There was a small issue with the new shower enclosure and he had the manufacturer come out to resolve the issue. He finished on schedule, hauled away all of the trash, and the cleaned the garage (they were using it as a work area) cleaner than before they started.

The remodel of our bathroom and fireplace went smoothly. We initially met Mark through our neighbor and we were quite impressed with the extensive remodel he did for them. Their home came out beautiful and so did ours. I was especially impressed by his attention to detail and his reliability. He was at my home everyday on time at 7am to start the job and made sure that the area he was working on was left clean and tidy. I can't imagine having to use any other contractor for our upcoming home renovations. Honest, reliable and experienced.
Description of Work: We needed to have a full bathroom remodel. New flooring , tile, bathtub, shower and new hardware and vanity along with lighting. We also had our fireplace completely redone. It went from a drab brick fireplace to a contemporary stacked stone, slate fireplace along with a mantel.
Peterson Construction remodeled our kitchen in the summer of 2015. It is an older home which proved to have some unforeseen challenges, but Mark, Scott, and Rob handled them expertly and were able to give us sound advice when we were unsure of solutions. They even helped us pick out paint color. We have a tiny kitchen and the men were able to maximize the space and construct extra storage that we didn’t have before while maintaining the footprint that could not be expanded. They made all the cabinets themselves and the craftsmanship is excellent. They were also very accommodating when we asked them to rewire ceiling fans in other rooms of the house. We were most pleased with the craftsmen they contracted to complete the tiling and countertops. In all, they kept a clean workspace throughout the project, worked diligently every day of the week, and delivered a superior product for a reasonable price. We recommended Peterson Construction to our parents, and this time Mark, Scott, and Rob completed a larger project including bathrooms, kitchen, flooring, closets, paint and even garage shelving. Once again, the crew worked diligently while communicating progress and upcoming phases. As they discovered unforeseen problems like wiring or construction faults, they handled them with ease and sound recommendations. Workmanship and attention to detail was top notch. Our parents were pleased with the final product and also have recommended Peterson Construction to others. If you’re looking for fast and cheap, they may not be the right fit. However, Peterson Construction is an excellent choice if you are seeking quality craftsmanship at a productive pace for a fair price. We would definitely use them again.

Besides achieving our initial objectives, Petersen worked with the City of La Verne to be sure everything conformed to code. As anticipated, the project took 10 days, much of it for the preparation and installation of first-class tile work.
Description of Work: Converted an old tub/shower into a convenient and beautiful tiled and glass-walled walk-in shower.
Mark and his team were prompt and Completely renovated (gutted) our hall bathroom. They removed all of old cabinetry, tub/shower enclosure, toilet, plumbing and linoleum flooring. Added can lighting over shower and sink. New vanity, tile flooring, soaking tub with custom tile walls with nook. Upgraded bathroom electrical to current regulations including ceiling fan. Replaced medicine cabinet with open shelves and installed a backlit vanity mirror. Final touches were the hotel style towel racks on the wall and a brand new bathroom door. We are EXTREMELY pleased with our new bathroom. We were confident of the quality work and respect Mark and his team had for our home when they remodeled our kitchen in 2014 that we called them back for this remodel. We Look forward to hiring Mark and his team in the future to renovate our Master Bathroom.
Description of Work: Full bathroom gut and remodel
Mark is the definition of professionalism. After purchasing our home we dealt with many contractors for various projects and Mark, by far, was the best of the them. From punctuality, cleanliness, communication, responsiveness, attention to detail, Mark and his crew set the standard on what I expect from contractors. Due to unforseen circumstances we had to have other repairs made from another type of contractor. While Mark was there working on other projects, he alerted of all the shortcuts taken by that other contractor. Mark's quality of work is impeccable. We could see a stark difference in his work compared to the work of other contractors that were hired by relatives. He will treat your house as if it were his own house and he will strive for perfection. His suggestions and recommendations were very helpful as well. We would highly recommend Mark and have found our contractor for life!
Description of Work: Kitchen remodel, 2.5 bathroom remodel, electrical & plumbing repairs, led light installation, drywall repair, interior paint, window & door repair, tile flooring.
Interviewing contractors can be a headache. Its tedious. You're never sure who to trust. Online reviews are scarce and questionable. My wife and I invited 4 different contractors to the house, 2 didn't pass the initial sniff test. If your gut feeling is telling you something isn't right, its probably not. Mark, Scott, and his brother came t our house several times to discuss different option, quality and design of cabinets, and a general plan. We discussed timeframe and expectations. Mark assured me several times that there wouldn't be any "hidden fees" or "surprises" that required a price change mid-job. All of those TV shows routinely show problems that come up once you tear a wall down.... I wanted to make sure any random discoveries were included in the price and not something we would have to renegotiate along the way. *****BIG RED FLAG******* Most contractors will tell you "we've been doing this for 30 years." You can easily check on that by doing a quick google search of their contractor license number. I believe Mark has a 500,000'ish number, which was issued in the early 1980's. If someone tells you they've been doing it for 25 years and has a license number in the 900,000s, be leary. The story doesn't add up. In those search results, you'll see who his insurance company is and weather he is bonded or not. Then you can call that insurance company and check on claims against whichever contractor you're looking into. In other words, DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Make sure the information people present you actually checks out. I will definitely say that we had cheaper bids. But those bids came with sketchy information and references that didn't check out. Do you want someone who is license, bonded, insured? Mark Peterson and his small crew have been working together for years. Once we made some minor modifications to the work contract to fit our budget, we set a date for work to begin. They asked us how early in the morning they could show up to begin work. We said, "7am." They were parked in front of our house every workday by 6:50am. That meant a lot to us. You hear horror stories about crews not showing up.... Mark and the guys ALWAYS showed up exactly when they said they would. The quality of work was excellent. The communication between us and them was always clear. After a few days of becoming "comfortable" with them, we gave them a door code so that we didn't have to let them in everyday. As with every major remodel, the timeframe had a few hangups. That was time spent waiting for inspections by the city, not delays caused by Mark. Certain work had to "set" or dry before they could move on to the next step, etc.... I'm sure Mark and Scott can do some design work but in our case, my wife simply handed them a picture from a magazine and said, "make it look like that." My wife and I aren't design people. Mark brought stone samples, stain samples, and paint samples over to help us decide on the detailed stuff. I really don't have enough good things to say. You'll find cheaper prices elsewhere but ask yourself "why?" Lots of times you'll receive bids from unlicensed, uninsured, and crews with marginal experience or hidden fees. Mark Peterson is a one-stop-shop for kitchen and bath remodels. Licensed and insured. Proper permits and followup inspections. We didn't find any hidden fees. The workmanship was very nice. We felt very comfortable with them in our home. I would recommend Mark to those who want quality work done. We didn't have to deal with or setup and sub-contractors or do anything ourselves. The licensed and insured part is a great + and provides huge peace-of-mind too.

Mark and his crew (his brother and a longtime business partner) did a great job and were a pleasure to work with. Very experienced and professional. He quoted a fair price, took care of drawing up basic plans for the city to get the permits, and then they ended up doing multiple little extra tasks that came up throughout the construction process (as things always do) and they did not end up charging me any extra. Being so experienced, I think Mark included these potential "surprises" into the original bid. They showed up on time every day and left the job clean at the end of each day, and the entire job was finished on schedule. I will for sure use them again when we remodel our bathroom and will be recommending them to my friends and family that need to do remodeling.
Description of Work: Major parts of a kitchen remodel that I was not comfortable doing myself. They did relatively complicated framing (opened up walls, closed off and expanded doorways), plumbing (added water and gas lines for new sink/appliance locations), added wall insulation, electrical, venting for a range hood and all the drywall. They also drew up basic plans, got permits and handled all city inspections.
This remodel was absolutely the easiest one we have ever had done! Mark and his guys were wonderful in their work ethic, timeliness, cleanliness and ability to get the job done right. We had a limited time frame to complete the job and they managed to finish within our time frame. They arrived promptly at 7am every morning and did all the work themselves with the exception of the tile which was done by a sub (who also did a great job). It will be a "no-brainer"' when we need work done again...they are definitely our go-to guys! Thanks for a great job Mark, Rob and Scott!

Mark Petersen and associates, Scott & Robbie, did a remarkable job in our complete kitchen renovation. After the demo, which was a significant task in it self due to the removal all the existing brick & plaster, several major problems were revealed. They had to ?re-plumb? or straighten out all walls. This also included repair and replacing termite and wood rot damage that was extensive in some areas. Electrical problems needed to be corrected as well as plumbing upgrades required. The attention to detail was evident in all aspects of the work performed. For example the existing kitchen concrete slab flooring was not suitable for tiling. As a result the floor was resurfaced to prepare properly for tiling. This was also required in the adjacent hallway where new flooring was to be installed which they did also. The installation of flooring in the living room and step up dining room also required extensive floor preparation. Another repair challenge was the T&G ceiling in living/dining room. Removal of termite damaged planks and repair took an exhaustive 3 days. All work performed was from the inside without removal of any exterior roofing. The quality of workmanship was also quite evident in the installation of the living and dining room flooring. This also included fabricating the custom edge bull-noses required to frame out the steps and separate floor levels. In addition the architectural featured hall archways also illustrated detail and quality workmanship as well beautiful custom kitchen cabinetry they fabricated at their shop. The challenges this project presented to Mark, Scott and Robbie could not have been resolved by any other contractor in our opinion. The renovation project resulted in an outstanding, aesthetic and highly functional kitchen with enhancements to the living/dining room and hallway.
Description of Work: Complete Kitchen Renovation including all cabinetry, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting & exterior plastering Added architectural hallway arches Installed hardwood flooring throughout living & dinning rooms and connecting hallway Repaired living room tongue & groove ceiling Added lighting fixtures in garage Electrical upgrades & repairs Completed copper Plumbing throughout home
