They did great, prompt, professional job. the box came by 2 or 3 times while the workers installed the tile and counter top. Also workers had been employees a number of years--- almost always a good sign. Have and would recommend them to others.
Description of Work: TilEncounters gave bid for new tile and counter top/ sink (we bought sink separately) in combo bath/ laundry room. They volunteered left over piece of quartz counter top - that was fine and saved us a bundle.

Tilencounters did an overall great job remodeling the kitchen in a home I just purchased. I had several bids and Tilencounters was competitive. The owner Tom has a full team each with their individual strengths in areas ranging from concept and design to helping with selection of materials including cabinets and countertops. Tilencounters is located in Glendale and they have a shop showcasing all of the myriad of options available to use for any project you have for your home. Manufacturing has come a long way in providing options to fit any budget without looking like you are on a budget. Tom's designer Julia ( I think that's her name) sat with us and went over detailed computer designs of how our kitchen would look like and she even came to the house to confirm the initial measurements Tom made on his initial visit. She went over all of the options for cabinets and discussed painted cabinets vs. stained cabinets. She also reviewed the options for drawers underneath the cooktop for pots and pans and pull-out drawers for the pantry. Tilencounters worked closely with MD Appliance, who provided our appliances, and got the specs to fit with their design of our kitchen. My wife and I had several meetings and conversations with Tom and his team during the planning process. The cabinets took 4-5 weeks to order as they were custom made for our kitchen design. Before they arrived, Tom's team demoed the original kitchen and enlarged the space getting all of the plumbing and electrical ready. They ended up installing new insulation above the kitchen and putting new boards for the floor as the original floor was in bad condition. Once the cabinets arrived the installation of the cabinets and appliances went through without a hitch. Each member of the installation team was courteous and worked hard in making sure our kitchen was installed just as we had planned. The final product turned out beautiful and even though there was a hiccup with drainage in the sink and a few electrical issues, Tom and his team took care of these issues without any problem. Overall, I was pleased with the whole process and am ready to enjoy our new kitchen for years to come. Thanks Tilencounter!

Jose did the estimate but another guy did the actual work. I think the other guy's name was Jimmy. I was in the process of moving when the work was done. I was coordinating painting, plumbing, landscaping, and packing all at the same time. My furniture in the dining room and living room is Stickley, beautiful and expensive oak furniture. The dining room is next to the kitchen with french doors in between. When Jimmy showed up I left him in the kitchen and went to work in the bedroom packing clothing, including 6 suits which I had laid out on the bed. I heard a saw and a few minutes later a dust cloud came pouring into my bedroom. It was so thick it was like a fog and I could actually taste it. Jimmy had laid a tarp on the floor in front of the sink but he had not covered the kitchen counter tops, the stove, or closed the doors between the kitchen and the dining room. The dust cloud covered my furniture in every room in the house and got all over my clothes in the closets and the six suits laid out on my bed. I told Jimmy he should have closed the doors. He said the dust did not bother him. He was used to it. By the way, he was wearing no protective eye gear or dust mask. The day before I had paid my maid $80 to clean all the furniture before the movers arrived. When the movers showed up the next day, all of my furniture was covered in a fine ceramic dust. You could write your name in the dust on my wood furniture. The kitchen counter tops were thick with it. The next morning my plumber showed up. He opened the counter door under the sink and found all the scraps from the tile job had been brushed into the hole left when the sink was pulled and Jimmy had simply placed the new sink into the hole thus hiding all the debris, which covered my garbage disposal and plumbing. It was a mess ! I took pictures of it and later showed them to Jose. I called Jose immediately to complain but he was gone for the weekend. On Monday morning, Jose came by to collect his money. I showed him the mess all over my house and the pictures of the mess under the sink, which my plumber ended up cleaning. I also told Jose the floor had not been fixed nor had the grout work been done. Jose told me the work had been done. I had to tear off paper covering my house painters had since put down on the kitchen floor to prove to him that I am not a liar. When I complained about the mess he told me I should have told Jimmy to close the doors and cover the kitchen counters. I told him that was his job and I should not have to tell him how to do it. He disagreed with me and I pointed out the house painters had covered everything without me telling them to do it. Then I told him how my furniture had been shipped covered in dust and my clothes would all have to be cleaned, including six suits that would need to be dry cleaned. He said sarcastically "do you want me to send Jimmy to your house back east and have him dust and clean". That really angered me. Jimmy showed up the next day and finished the work on the floor and the grout. Jose wanted $700 originally and said he would knock $200 off the bill. I said half or no deal. He was not willing to come down so we had to argue. In the end I paid him $375. In my entire moving experience, Tilencounters was the only bad experience. I would not recommend them.
Description of Work: I needed the bullnose tiles in front of my sink pulled and replaced because they were cracked. I also replaced the kitchen sink while the tiles were off. And, I needed some loose floor tiles fixed and new grout in areas of my kitchen counter top. The plumber had already pulled out the old sink and left the new one in the hole, but it was not installed yet. The tile guy needed to lift the new sink out before removing the old tiles then all he had to do was place the new sink back into the hole so the plumber could install it the next day.

Very Well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Description of Work: Last year our tile deck was completely torn apart and redone due to water leaks into the garage underneath. This year a portion of the deck was leaking again and we decided not to deal with the original contractor. We found Tilencounters through Angie's List. Michelle answered our call immediately and sent Jose out to give us an estimate. He arranged to buy the needed tile replacements (to match what was installed hast year), tore out the tile in the area which was leaking, a good 10 feet, hot mopped underneath, and installed new tile. This was all done on the schedule they originally gave us The workmen were extremely neat, took care with the plants and furniture on the deck and finished the project right on time. Once finished, they ran several water tests to ensure that the leak was fixed. We would hire them again and again, only we hope the deck will never leak again! But should we need tile work anywhere else in our 1927 home, we would call them immediately.
